This NPC is a tiny snail, and when you talk to it you have an option to take an item from it. This item is 操縱者咒符, and it does count for the Lost and Found achievements.

I found the NPC on the larger island in East Briny Muck, in Dread Wastes. Coordinates 40.78, 64.27. It is targetable, and can be added to NPC scan - ID 65552. It despawned once I spoke to it and took the item.

I just looted this today at 42.06, 61.21. The snail moves about a little but when you interact with it, it stops. When I confirmed I wanted to take the thing off its back, I received achievement credit instantly but it took a couple seconds (20 or so) to actually have the item looted to me.

Also, I can confirm that NPCScan light up like a Christmas tree when it found this NPC.

This is the text that pops up when you click on the glinting whelk,in case you don't want to waste time reading in your rush to get the item. Fairly anticlimactic imo, no real description as to why the item is there:

"There is a glint of light coming from something on the creatures back."

Does anyone know if killing the Rapana Whelk's in the area help increase the chances that this one will spawn? Or is it on a different spawn table?

If you snagged the trinket on one character can you collect it on another?

Since the achievement is account wide and it doesn't have "Binds to battle.net Account" in the tool-tip i was just curious if i could get it for a hunter on either side of the factions

Make sure you have an empty bag slot before you click on him! He despawned quickly after I clicked to accept the Talisman and got the message my bags were full. Obviously, I didn't get the treasure, and I also didn't get credit for the achievement.

He spawns on the island with oracle Hiss' ir.

Here's a cropped screenshot showing the dialogue-window you get when interacting with the Glinting Rapana Whelk. In order to get the Manipulator's Talisman you only have to select the option, and the item will appear in your inventory (if you've got available space). Selecting the option will also cause the Glinting Rapana Whelk to despawn.

If you are looking on more than one character you will have to add the npc into npc scan individually unless there is a way to set it up for all your characters.

If it helps... I was flying around this area last 3 days and today I decided to kill all ordinary rapana welks... After killing 3 of them Glinting rapana whelk spawned... It showed up on my npc scanner and you need to track it (put star on it) and you will be able to see it really fast.

So just kill all other whelks :) Good luck!

its worth mentioning if not using npc scan or just skimming over the area that it is the only "critter" or pet looking thing(like a roach or hare) that has a green name, whereas the others all have yellow

Mouse over all the Rapana Whelks. One will say "glinting Rapana Whelk" - that is your boy.

someone already asked this, but it was downrated and i don't know why. Does killing rapana whelks in the area help increase the chances that this one will spawn? someone else already commented they killed two and it showed up, i read somewhere else someone killed 3 and it showed up, and i just killed 5 and it showed up for me.

I pretty much logged on and nothing was there, stabbed a few whelks and in less than a minute npc scan shot off.

Can't say killing other Rapana Whelks makes the spawnrate increase, I've been flying around for the last hour killing about 50-100 of them and no Glinting one yet.

I found this at 41.19, 64.66 at the foot of the hill . Flew around /target Glinting Rapana Whelk

Maybe a bug on my end, but when I was a bit further from it, the /target would only work for a second, then instantly untarget, but once I was closer it stayed.

When I found this little creature, I didn't realise my bag was full and when I clicked him he disappeared. Through reading the comments here, I noticed a lot of you said you did not receive either 操縱者咒符 or count towards 他人的珍寶.
I checked my achievement progress and noticed that even though I did not receive the item, I still got credit for 他人的珍寶, and a few minutes later 操縱者咒符 appeared in my post box.

confirming that as of the date of this comment, the whelk does spawn and you can get the item.

The whelk shares a spawn with the NPC critters, and you may be able to prompt a spawn.

I visited the island with no sign of him repeatedly. This trip - I killed all the critter whelks, and he appeared in the first round of respawn. It's just one example - could be RNG. But worth trying.

The snail gives you a small amount of bronze instead of the neck in Remix. I assume this will be the same for all the BoE treasures from Mists of Pandaria as there is a different gearing system in place in Remix.

Is the Glinting Rapana Whelk still available in MoP Remix? If so; is it on timer or still need to kill all the small ones?
