This is not just a Rare/Elite but a Boss (Skull) level mob and has 30 million health. We killed it Dec. 8th on Silvermoon and all it dropped was 千口腰帶.

Edit: This mobs loot has been updated and now drops 瞠目結舌腰帶 as well as one random ilvl 359 World BoE Epic and a random JC Pattern.

No achievement, only 1 drop of leather, and over a 5 minute fight.... for a single drop. not worth the time to kill.

Ok since I don't see one I will explain the fight

When he casts Fury of the Sands there will be black oily spots on the ground, don't stand on them

He will cast Sands of Time at random party/raid members, it is a magic effect and can be dispelled. If you are 5 manning this you really can't afford the dps loss of the loss of haste

He casts Shockwave at the tank, just like a warriors shockwave it stuns anything in it's path, the tank needs to make sure it's faced away from the party

When he casts Stone Mantle he gains a shield that absorbs half a million health. As long as the shield holds, he gains a stacking damage multiplier. This needs to be burned through as fast as possible

This is of the 5 rare-elite mobs added in cataclysm, with one in each new zone as follows:

Garr - Everyone's favourite Molten Core boss, relocated to Mount Hyjal. Now with 99% less rage over the drops, guaranteed!
Mobus <The Crushing Tide> - A huge whale shark in the Abyssal Depths of Vashj'ir. Probably wants to eat you.
Xariona - A twilight dragon roaming the center of Deepholm. Sadly, it doesn't sparkle.
Akma'hat <Dirge of the Eternal Sands> - A Tol'vir style colossus located in Uldum. Still no eye lasers... everything's better with eye lasers.
Julak-Doom <The Eye of Zor> - A flesh giant, its mind taken over by a Merciless One, found wandering Twilight Highlands. You could chew through its 30 million hp, but a cork stopper would probably do the trick too.

Although he is a rare 'raid' mob, you only need one healer. I was able to heal the raid group easily by myself (heroic geared, holy paladin).

We started with a 5-man group and then just kept spamming General chat for people to come help fight. We ended up with a 10-man raid. The extra dps really helped cut the fight length down.

Tips:
1. Watch the ground, otherwise you'll get launched in the air. Also since it's an easy spank-and-tank, some dps'ers may get lazy and not move out of this effect.

2. He occasionally does some burst damage on the tank so don't be afraid to blow some cooldowns.

3. Since fight is long, you may have refresh your Beacon mid-fight.

Honestly, I don't give jack about what he drops - seeing it, assembling an extremely mismatched raid (we had only one heal), beating the alliance to tapping it, learning of its abilities on the fly, and killing it was an extremely enjoyable experience.

I'd be totally up for Blizzard adding more such mobs.

Like all world bosses in cata he is on a '72hr chance of spawning' which basically means, since he shares his spawner with the other bosses, there is a chance he will spawn after he dies every 72hrs. Two bosses can be up at the same time and we found him after we downed Garr.

Same fight as before*, just make sure everyone avoids the stuff on the ground and shockwave and it's a very easy fight.

how is it even possible for a world boss to be a rare? (if it is a world boss) back in wrath those dragons in twilight grove we're elites (tries to solo with another hunter buddy but failed) what sucks is they removed them now.

Did this today in a 5 man group. Was surprisingly easy as Tank who was a druid who is normally feral DPS and healer was a main spec elemental shaman. Myself, I was a ilvl 400 rogue, but had two DPS that were level 84 and 83.

Dropped 2 Epic BOEs and a recipe.

Duo'd today by a feral druid tank and shadowpriest. You'll only have to shield your druid occasionally (as the boss's damage is primarily if not entirely physical ensuring minimum damage to druid tanks) and only when he drops quite low flash heal him to full health, don't forget to death for mana so you won't have to take yourself out of the fight by dispersing.

He popped up when I logged my main looking for camels. Switched to tankadin, recruited a druid healer and ele shammy from my guild and we got him down but it took ages.

just killed him today, blood dk tanking, pally healer healing, hunter dps and myself on my combat rogue. Fairly easiest of the Cata world raid bosses. Just avoid the smoke on the ground when he casts it, and tank and spank. He dropped:

Okay, that item name is creepy as hell. I know we're supposed to have 'killed' Yoggy and he's way up in Northrend, but...STILL.

The only boss not soloable by anything (currently) due to his high absorption + physical dmg buff. Can easily be 2-3 manned though. Brought my prot war with a resto shammy guildy (probably could've gone ele if he had it) and a boomkin friend. Having a healing specc'd healer could help though due to the haste drop of 60% debuff that can be dispelled.

Just make sure to keep him turned from the others, and give yourself a bit of room incase you have a fury of the sands spawn below you

Apparenttly it also drops Enchanting recipes. Today we got him with a guild group and dropped the leather belt, and BoE strength ring, and the recipe for +50 Agility to bracers.

In case anyone is curious, he was worth 24,500 exp for my 84 Paladin with heirloom helm (10% exp), heirloom cloak (5%), and Fast Track Rank 2 (10%) guild perk. I was in a party of 4 that killed him. Thought it would have been a lot more.

I just soloed him. Took me nearly an hour, but it wasn't difficult, just time-consuming.

I used my level 90 BM hunter with Arcturis tank-specced pet. (I chose spirit beast pet for the heal.)

My gear is pretty crap - item level 438, mostly greens, a few blues from questing and scenarios. Plus I'm not exactly your most skilled player. So I'd say anyone could do it on a hunter at 90. I don't know about other classes. Clothies would probably have trouble, even ones who can heal, as he puts out a lot of damage (I had Mend Pet ticking constantly, and occasionally had to use Spirit Mend to top up.)

For hunters specifically, I'd advise letting your pet tank him and keeping yourself behind him as much as possible. His Shockwave ability hits for quite a bit if you're in front of him. (I don't know if there should be a visual effect for this ability, by the way - nothing showed up for me, but I usually have my graphics down as far as possible, so that could be the problem.)

Otherwise I just kept as many damage abilities on him as I could, and kept popping cooldowns whenever they were available. I tried to do bursts of damage while his Stone Mantle was down, and kept Snake Trap and Explosive Trap on him as much as possible.

At the end of it I got 245 gold for my trouble, and a couple of BoE epics to sell, plus a green Jewelcrafting gem pattern. Maybe not the best use of time vs reward, but I had the satisfaction of doing it myself, which is better than gold!

(....Sort of.)

Killed him today, once at 9:59 server time EU and then again at 15:31 server time EU, didn't drop patterns either time, and second time I had done it in a group while personal loot was on, was forced to roll for drops.

Buy the air rifle from dalaran if you are hunting these so others can tag

Just a side note but if you down him, glance to the rear and left of him when you loot. I found the mysterious camel figurine there, and it took me to Dormus.

As a farmer of gold from the Cata world bosses, here's some information I've gathered from killing all of them in study of who dropped the most gold. I killed each mob 10 times to capture a large collection of numbers:

Julak-Doom: 158g; 230g; 226g; 239g; 185g; 217g; 220g; 151g; 215g; 237g
Xariona: 20g; 24g; 21g; 18g; 16g; 19g; 24g; 15g; 18g; 21g
Akma'hat: 218g; 169g; 169g; 200g; 226g; 163g; 165g; 240g; 154g; 238g
Mobus: 193g; 195g; 220g; 210g; 155g; 215g; 176g; 244g; 242g; 234g
Garr: 383g; 522g; 377g; 400g; 409g; 518g; 529g; 442g; 436g; 497g

In conclusion, Garr consistently dropped the most gold. Akma'hat offers around the same amount as the rest, save for poor Xariona.

I have heard that with patch 10.05 the drop rate has been increased. I got both the amber and ruby monocle today off him today. Still waiting on the sunglasses.
