He will walk back to a wagon and a cask will appear. Click and get 5 things of wine and chug em down. You will get smashed and a Pink Elekk will appear back behind him by the tents. They also appear all about town

From a programming standpoint, odds are the developers felt one of two things:

1) No person would just be randomly drunk in that town, so took a shortcut to have the drunk effect reveal them when using that wine. That any alcohol works is just a sign of the shortcut.

2) They wanted/expected it to be discovered through the quest, but left it viewable by any alcohol as an easter egg you can keep coming back to see.

Is that so? because far stranger things have happened to discover a NPC that is not linked to a quest and serves absolutely no purpose that uses a item far more rare than alcohol.

Hmm. Apparently, Elixir of Shadows also has this effect. Just finished that quest at the Blackwind landing and dropped by the Allerian stronghold. Had a good chuckle. :)

I just happened to stop by Allerian Stronghold to use the mailbox on my way to Black Temple. Imagine my surprise when a big old Pink Elekk appeared in front of me and wandered off behind a building. I hadn't even been drinking and there it was in all its glory.

no need to drink I have flown into allerian stronghold a couple times and the pink elekk appeared but it disappeared as I got close.

I found this NPC from searching TAMMABLE mammoth's.
The list says all forms of this Mammoth are TAMMABLE as it's a beast.
However because this NPC is friendly (to Alliance) it is UN-TAMMABLE.
I just wasted a good 15min so you didn't have to. T_T

Wain on Petopia has found that this specific instance of the Pink Elekk IS tameable, but not in Terokkar! A neutral and attackable instance of this very same ID is found in Blackrock Depths (not the Coren Direbrew instance, but the actual dungeon you run to), sitting on a chair next to the entrance of the Grim Guzzler. You have to be drunk or smashed to see it, and it scales up to level 60. It doesn't drop any loot, and is purely there for hunters to tame it.

Also worth noting is that when tamed, it is NOT transluscent. It becomes completely solid when it's your new best friend. You can't name it anything related to any alcohol or alcohol-related content; I tried HUNDREDS of terms in different languages because I'm that bored.

Double also: It was level 60 in the instance, but since you're drunk, its level is shown lower by default. It's likely that this tameable pink elekk is available as soon as you can enter Blackrock Depths on a low level character.

For those that are not familiar with the layout of Blackrock Depths but still wish to tame the Pink Elekk during Brewfest, here is a quick way to get to the pet.

If you just want to go straight to the Grim Guzzler in order to tame the Pink Elekk, this is the fastest route I have found so far.

I timed it from the moment I zoned in at entrance until I tamed the pet and it took me 2 minutes 40 seconds. Granted, my alts outlevel the dungeon. Your results may vary if you are closer to its level. I didn't stop to fight any mobs and did a Feign Death before I entered the Grim Guzzler.

From entrance, take left and go through the gate. Then take an immediate right and go through another gate. Then take the door on the left (East Garrison Door).

Once inside the East Garrison, your character may need to activate the Shadowforge Lock in order to open the upper door in the long path above. Hover over the lock and if you see the gear icon (as shown in screenshot) then you will need to click the Lock before heading up the ramp.

Once that is done, go up the ramp. Keep left and follow that (long) path all the way to the West Garrison. When you come out in to the main open area, take an immediate right and go down the ramp into the Manufactory area. Keep right and cut diagonally across the area until you come to the bridge leading into the Grim Guzzler.

If you do not have the Synthebrew Goggles, then just go up to Plugger Spazzring and purchase his Plugger's Blackrock Ale. For me x3 was just enough to get drunk with so I could see the Pink Elekk.

Please note: Kul Tirans require more alcohol to get them drunk.

The Pink Elekk will then appear next to the ramp you came up to enter the Grim Guzzler.

Managed to get into the normal instance as a level 20 F2P (Free to play, Vet) and went to the gnome vendor on the upper level of the bar within Blackrock Depths and bought some 普拉格的黑石麥酒 to get drunk.
The elekk was level 15 and appeared on the chair near the stairs. Tamed easily.

Tenacity pet, doesn't retain name changes to "Mammoth"

Don't be dumb like me and think he's outside the bar -- he's just inside when you come in, to the right. H/T to youtuber Mr. Eggplant, who did a 2022 vid on this that pinpoints the location. Elekk's pretty small so good to know exactly where to look. Also, don't be dumb like me and forget the easy ways to get there: Direbrew's Remote; and teleport from the pet store in Dalaran Legion (pet quest guy, who I forgot about since I got all his rewards years ago, is right by the raid entrance). Tamed 2 in two days to get the matched set.

Just to be sure, this pink elekk is ONLY available during brewfest? No matter if you're drunk or not, have the goggles or not?

I figured what the hell and grabbed 2 of them, super easy.
They may be pink but are a lot of fun in PVP 😆

When taming, just know that you can't join a direbrew party and after killing coren and then just step out into the bar area and tame. You'll have to zone into the original dungeon, you'll need to be either drunk or have the goggles. (easiest with a remote) and when you go to the bar the pink elekk is directly to your right by the little wall. he's little bitty and there's usually just 1 in the bar. Once tamed if you want another, what I did was just jumped into the lava and then reset. Taming both of them while having a remote shouldn't take but 5 minutes tops (most of it is just running to the bar lol.
I really hope this isn't confusing but if it's been ages since you've been (like me) then maybe this will help

1)If you aren't sure when you first load in to the dungeon take a left, go through the gate then on your right will be another door/gate. go through that then on your left will be a janky door with a troll beside it. Before going up the steps in the room, pull the big wheel to the left open area then go up the steps.
2) At the steps go left and follow the hallway around the corner and all the way around until you find an open area and can go either left or right (you'll go through the hallway that was opened by the wheel this is how you know you're in the right place).
3) Take your right which will be a ramp that goes down you should be in a room with a lot of columns/pillars... go about half way into the room and Take aright where you should pass some fire elementals on each side.
4) follow that path and it should lead you to the bar area... ( open your map, now it shows where the bosses are in each area so following that helps )

I tried it with the Goggles, didn't work, instead I drunk 3 Plugger's Blackrock Ale from Plugger Spazzring in the upper part of the pub and then I could see the Elekk.

Are these tameable in Mop classic btw? I went to grim guzzler with my Synthebrew Goggles but there is no pink elephant to tame there

Only 1 is available to tame per dungeon and it is always in the exact same spot
