Rare is a part of 甦醒海岸冒險者 achievement.

Most of the time you will be able to find only small part of all rares and they will respawn after kill in relatively short time.
But after daily reset they will disappear and a new pack of rares will be active.
So most of the time you will come to the spot and see nothing there. At least this way it was on Beta
And some rares never even spawned during 3 month of beta

A reference to the animated Disney cartoon Darkwing Duck, hence its black coloration. And for those who didn't know, an adult male duck is also called a drake.

I finally found Drakewing tonight (not on my server; I'd joined an Otto/lunker group and decided to do a fly down the river before heading to the raid location). The mob was marked as a rare when I targeted him, but did NOT have an icon on either my minimap or the world map. I don't know if that'll be the same for everybody or not, though, as rares in Dragonflight are acting pretty erratically between characters, accounts, and days.

Found him today, flying mid air in the canyon. He spawned south and went to north and did a counter clockwise turn at the end of the river by Skytop Observatory. He does NOT shown on the minimap nor the map as a rare. I had a target macro and also Silverdragon shouted at me. No need to kill for the achiv That's Pretty Neat! so be kind and share it with others if you see him.

Was struggling to find Drakewing when flying around and wasn't exactly sure where it would spawn. In the end I sat on the bridge around 47.73, 76.07 and waited. After a couple of hours Rarescanner went off as Drakewing appeared to spawn extremely close to the bridge, was able to quickly tag it down for a photo for the Birdwatcher achievement.

As other comments have said it didn't show up on the zone map when it spawned and is a 'normal' rare. Hope this helps some of you if you want to camp out the spawn of it.

I have been camping this rare for 4 hours at his spawn point (the bridge) and flied laps every 30 minutes. Haven't seen it spawn so far.

I rode my 釣手隊漁筏 and parked myself by Gunner Fren's raft rack at 49.98, 68.52 ready to snap, he went the other way, I caught his back end and got credit.

Found him today! EU server - Dragonblight at 20:34 Server time.

I was parked at the Bridge around 47.73, 76.07 when rare scanner went off whilst I was afk.. Immediately, when I got back, I started to fly the route (Given above on the map) to the very end when it pinged again.. I ran out of Vigor, crashed into a tree and I thought that was it!

I'm a chancer so I flew back the way I came, thinking this guy was hopefully a creature of habit, from the bridge around 47.73, 76.07 and so did Drakewing!

Captured the shot! One more birdie on the list!

popped today, 2/1/23, around 6:30pm eastern time, while I was doing a daily quest. Followed the river path he flies around - and shot him from my dragon riding mount to engage. Dropped the epic dagger Chitin Dreadbringer, ilvl 372. hunting trophy, and some supplies. First time I saw him. unfortunately I forgot I needed him for the "That's Pretty Neat!" achievement, and by the time I figured it out, his corpse had despawned. :(

I flew up the river to get a picture of him for the achievement. I had a /tar macro to tag him when in range. Found him pretty quickly, but dissapeared when i grounded to get my camera. Found him 1 min later downwards the lake. But somehow he phased out. Flew down the river while i kept spamming the macro and found him again.

I waited till the weekly reset, this worked on other rare spawns. It spawned 18 minutes after at coords- 52,53

Found him at 52.76 52.09 today with a /tar drakew macro. He's smaller than I was looking for, and if I'm honest despite the pictures on this very page, I was honestly looking for a Drake, not a duck. He was fairly low to the ground when I found him as well, about half way up the canyon, maybe even less :)

Found him twice today (he got away the first time) within 15 minutes. Waking Shore /way 48 76 - stand on the bridge, tar him and draw him in.
Use macro /tar Drakewing

Flew around for a few days before I looked at the screenshot, and realized he flies low just above the water. Dipped in the air and found him immediately.

Look at the picture and the route. It is a small, low-flying duck, maybe 5 meters in the air. He flies below the various bridges along the route.
He moves pretty fast.
Spam the macro below; I moved the macro to the 6-keypress on my dragon-riding action bar. It'll target him with a star and play a sound when you find him.

I took a selfie with Drakewing clearly in view twice... TWICE!... and it didn't count. Killed him and then took a picture, and THEN it counted.

This does not seem to me to be what the spirit of birdwatching is all about.

Can't manage to find him nowadays. I've been looking for 2+ hours, I flew through the canyon and spammed my target macro, even with RareScanner no result. Can anyone confirm that the little duck still exists?
