The Vendor-Tron 1000 and Super-Seller 680 are part of a scripted caravan that travels between two points in Desolace. The 1000 appears when the caravan reaches the northern location, and the 680 appears when it reaches the southern location. The two robots sell different sets of items.

When the caravan is at the southern location, one of the two goblins tells you that the 1000 should be set up at the northern location in an hour, but it only seems to take them 15-20 minutes to make the trip and the robot appears immediately. They seem to stay at each location for no more than 10 minutes.

I tested this today.
Vendor-Tron 1000 stayed for about 13 minutes,
Super-Seller set up about 12 minutes later, and stayed for about 11 min.
The return trip north was about 12 minutes too.
both travel times include a stop early on to yell for guards.
Sadly, I did not think to see if the guard thing was a quest.

(edit: in the nearly 5 years (whoah) since posting this, I have done both guard quests many times.)

at 10:00 PM server time, i saw Rigger Gizelton say, that he would open his shop at Kormek's Hut in one hour.

but the fact i had just done the escort quest from that hut, Bodyguard for Hire , that may or may not have had sometime to do with Rigger's timing.

since i doubt many people will be interested in the exact wording of what he said, i won't bother to post that.

If you're going for Sous Chef, chances are, you're gonna wanna find this guy, or his counterpart, Super-Seller 680. They get set up on opposite ends of this caravan route and it's likely to have some recipes you don't have. I picked up five from him on my way to the 100 I needed to get the achievement.

The robots shows up when the caravan stops, so it's just to follow that and se it spawn in front of your eyes :D

I just accepted and canceled the escort quest and the dude spawned at the place he was heading to. dunno if that's a common thing but certainly sped up my camping. Did it from super seller to vendor tron, dunno about the other way around.

I have experimented with this trick extensively.

Going from North to South (from Vendor-Tron 1000 to Super-Seller 680)

I met Cork Gizelton just as he was standing still next to Kolkar village, offering Bodyguard for Hire. I accepted the quest and then immediately abandoned it. He despawned, just as expected. At this point I started a stopwatch. I went to the South end of his path, and he wasn't there. I rode all the way back North along the road, and he was nowhere.

However, after 6 minutes according to the watch, he suddenly spawned at the North location, with Vendor-Tron 1000 out. At the 12 minute mark, he packed up and started travelling South. I repeated the experiment a second time with idenical results.

His total travel time from North to South, including a 4 minute pause at Kolkar village allowing people to accept Bodyguard for Hire, was 12 minutes as well. I didn't accept the quest and just let him carry on after the pause.

Going from South to North (from Super-Seller 680 to Vendor-Tron 1000)

I met Rigger Gizelton just as he was standing west of Mannoroc Coven, offering Gizelton Caravan. I accepted the quest and abandoned it. The carvan despawned as expected. I went and checked the South end of his path, he wasn't there. I rode to the North end along the road, he was nowhere.

However, after 5 minutes from the moment I abandoned the quest and despawned the carvan, he spawned at the North location with Vendor-Tron 1000 out.

Conclusion

Accepting and abandoning either escort quest (Bodyguard for Hire going North to South, Gizelton Caravan going South to North) despawns the caravan. 5-6 minutes later the caravan respawns at the North end of its path, with Vendor-Tron 1000 out, regardless of which quest was abandoned.

The limited supply cooking recipes the Vendor-Tron 1000 has for sale do not have time to respawn before the caravan moves out. The result is that the recipes may only be purchased a single time each time it sets up shop.

So from this we can show, that the vendor is up for 10 minutes, makes a 3 minute stop on its route downwards, for a total travel time downwards of 10 minutes.

I actually bought 4 of the Greater Healing Potions from him, and saw 4 of the Mana Potions being sold by him, so maybe Blizz allows the vendor to sell more of the limited potions at once.

Seems to be "fixed" now. I started quest at the south, abandoned it. 5 mins later the caravan spawns at the south, yelling for escort again.

You can still accept the quest in the south and abandon it for the Vener-Tron 1000 in the north to spawn quicker. Tried it this morning and worked.

The caravan now moves a lot faster. I followed them until they got to their point and they were running the entire way.

The southern point of the caravan is: 40, 79
Northern point, as shown on the map, 60, 38.

When the caravan is heading from southern to northern point, at 45, 75, they will give an escort-type of quest, which i really easy (only had to kill two mobs), usefull for those that want to complete the Loremaster.

On a side note, while escorting, a Lesser infernal had a lootable quest.

I followed the caravan from spawn point with Vendor-Tron 1000, did escort quest, landed at second point with the Super-Seller 680, followed again, did 2nd escort quest. Full time was about 50 minutes. I'm assuming that time between spawns may be greater depending on whether the caravan is waiting for an escort.

According to Blizzard, Vendor-Tron 1000 is suppose to carry Recipe: Shadow Oil. During the travel back and forth, and the appearance of Vendor-Tron 1000 twice, this recipe did not appear for sale, but all the food recipes did refresh.

Pretty much the same in Cataclysm...

I've been studying these guys a bit and it seems that most of the stuff said before is confirmed. I've even done the timings for them, if you follow them, but don't take any of the escort quests (just waiting).

7:45 - Arrival at Kormek's Hut (N)
7:55 - Departure from Kormek's Hut
7:57 - Wait for escort at Kolkar Village
8:01 - Escort quest timeout
8:08 - Arrival at Gelkis Village (S)
8:21 - Departure from Gelkis Village
8:22 - Wait for escort at Mannoroc Coven
8:26 - Escort quest timeout
8:33 - Arrival at Kormek's Hut (N)

So Vendor-Tron 1000 stays 10 minutes and Kormek's Hut, while Super-Seller 680 stays 13 minutes at the Gelkis Village. The quest timeout time is 4 minutes in both cases and the complete trip from one point to another, if accompanied by a player for the entire trip is around 12 minutes.

One thing to remember is that these guys behave differently when they're alone. What I mean is that if you follow them, they RUN. Problem is that when they're out-of-sight of any player, they drop their speed to very slow-pace walking so the trip takes longer than 12 minutes. To confirm this, I flew and waited for them at the Gelkis Village once they've departed Kormek's Hut at a very uncommon time (~6 AM server time) so that there were no other players in the zone to interfere. It took them exactly 40 minutes to make the trip.

So the best approach is for you to search for the caravan, rather than waiting for them at their vendor locations.

I just met them, followed them to the northern end point, bought all recipes from Vendor-Tron.
10 minutes later they started walking towards the south point.

You need to perform the escort quests to gain access to all the recipes. I completed both Quests on 08-03-2011 and gained access to both the Vendor-Tron 1000 and the Super-Seller 680.

Confirmed, I just found Cork and his caravan, including this robot, at 60.38 just off the road that cuts through the middle of Desolace.

The Northern Location for the 貿易機器人1000型 is 60.3, 38.2. The Southern Location for the 超級商人680型 is at 40.5, 79.3. I am standing right on top of the 超級商人680型 now as I type this. Arrived at 12:56pm, having departed the northern post at exactly 12:26pm.

A 30 minute trip precisely. Just now departed from the south at 13:07pm precisely. A stay of exactly 11 minutes.

Later departed the southern port of call at 20:38pm and also observed leaving the same place at almost 23:45pm. No server restarts in between the previous timings.

In my case, 貿易機器人1000型 arrived at 2:18 pm today at his northern position and after buying my recipes I immediately went to 超級商人680型 at his southern position. He arrived there at 3:07 pm. So it took almost 50 minutes from one spawn to the other.

I just like to be annoying and precise sometimes.
The 2 spots the vendors spawn at, from packing at one to unpacking at the other, takes 24 mins exactly.
Each vendor is available for 10 mins exactly and then packs up.

So, is one of them always up or not? I have been trying to find one of the for two days.

Edit: Finally found Super-Seller 680 at 40,79 1:50pm. I accepted the quest "Get Me Out of Here!" from Cork Gizelton, finished that then continued to follow the caravan until it stopped.

Edit: Vendor-Tron 1000 spawned at 60,38 2:10pm. Followed the caravan again, took 10 minutes for them to start moving from the South spawn point, took roughly 10 minutes for them to get to the North spawn point.

I was unlucky with the timeing, had to wait 30mins before the caravan came up the road, it stopped at (60:22; 38:32) then the "tron 1000" spawns soon as "Cork Gizelton" stops. so if it aint there when you get there, have patience :)

Below I've given you 4 spawn points in Desolace to look for them. Once you find them, follow them, keeping them in sight. Weirdly enough, if you let them out of your sight, they move at a crawl, whereas if you're actually looking at them, they move much faster.

On 9/8/2012 I waited for the vendor tron for over two hours and it never showed up at either location. The goblins never yelled for an caravan escort, or anything else. Met someone who was questing in the area while waiting and they had no luck either.

is there a glitch in the 5.0 patch? Would appreciate hearing from others on this.

It seems that the vendor bots went whacky once the knowledge of karate pandas were made known to them, so they killed their goblin masters, shredding their tiny bodies over the glenn.
Now the Cenarion Circle is tending to their remains, growing them back, and soon we will have these fine recipies again.

There seems to be some new goblinesk-smelling herb growing around the destroyed wagon, at the north camp zone.
Perhaps this is some new reagent for alchemists?

Just wanted to let people know that I opened a Ticket about the Vendor-Tron 1000 as I need the Recipe for Lean Venison & this is the only way you can get it.

I received a response today from a GM to say that since MoP he hasn't been turning up & the Devs are aware of the situation & trying to get it fixed.

The GM says the more people that report a bug submission the sooner it's likely to get sorted.

Hope this helps & saves people waiting around.

This is the case with the NPCs you're looking for, sadly. They have gone to seek their fortune elsewhere, perhaps far beyond the oceans, away from this war-torn world. That you remember them is touching, however, and I will be sure to inform the Gizelton boys that you send your regards. We hope that you'll find other items in the world that are equally interesting, perhaps that remind you of these NPCs.

TL;DR: 2 Que-sts gone for good, 2 Ven-dors MIA, 3 re-ci-pes currently unobtainable,
and a touching letter from Game Master Evinderminus regarding Cork, Rigger, & the Kodos.
And Auction House Statistics for the recipes are now at the end of the comment.
PS - I intend to re-update when the recipes are once again available in-game.

Confirmed by Gm today they are currently not in game

I found a list of other NPC's that sell the cooking recipies (and 3 of them where horde vendors which where not much help for me as alliance lol

What really sucks is that 5 years later the unlearned recipes tab still shows this as the vendor for a number of cooking recipes and other stuff. If its not there then why say that it is?
