The Hungry Icefang is a Legendary pet encounter found south of Skyhorn in Highmountain. He's only available to fight when his world quest, Wildlife Protection Force, is available. His moves are Pounce, Howl and Blistering Cold. He'll have two random wild pets from Highmountain backing him up, and this fight does not give worthwhile experience to a leveling pet.

I found two strategies quite effective on this fight. Strategy A uses an Iron Starlette (Wind-up/Toxic Smoke/Supercharge) and a De-Weaponized Mechanical Companion (Metal Fist/Extra Plating/Repair). Strategy B uses a Race MiniZep (Missile/Decoy/Darkmoon Curse) and the Draenei Micro-Defender (Metal Fist/Reflective Shield/Ion Cannon). For a third pet for either strategy, bring either an extra Mechanical pet or you can counter-type Hungry Icefang's backline pets of the day.

Strategy A: Start with the Iron Starlette. Wind-up, Supercharge, then Wind-up. Switch to the Deweaponized Mechanical Companion. Use Extra Plating, then spam Metal Fist until the Hungry Icefang dies. Use Repair, then clean up the backline pets with Metal Fist, the rest of the Iron Starlette and whatever your third pet happens to be.

Strategy B: Start with the Mini Zep. Use Decoy, then Darkmoon Curse, then Missile x3. Switch the the Micro Defender. Use Reflective Shield, then spam Metal Fist until the Icefang dies. Clean up backline pets with Metal Fist and your remaining pets.

Nasty wolf! Quick, defeat him!
Luckily that's not too hard.

Version 1: Bring an Unborn Val'kyr (2 2 1) and Ikky (2 1 1):

Curse of Doom
Haunt
Bring in Level Pet (optional - gives about 700-800 XP)
Swap to Ikky
Black Claw
Flock - Hungry Icefang dies
Mop up the random critters with your remaining pets. It's super easy.

Version 2: Alternatively, a Zandalari Kneebiter (2 2 2) and any Level 25 pet can do the same mostly:

Black Claw
Hunting Party
Bloodfang - Hungry Icefang dies
Swap to your Level Pet
Swap to back to your Kneebiter or your third pet and kill the remaining pets off, they are easy prey :-)

Was pretty easy with a p/p Iron Starlette using 1-1-1. I used wind-up, supercharge then wind-up again, got him to about 20%, managed to get one more wind-up off on him before both pets died, then just used my other mechanical pets for the last two left over.

I used:

Opened with Iron Starlette's Toxic Smoke, then Wind-Up/Supercharge/Wind-Up. Another duo of Wind-Ups and the Hungry Icefang was done. Switched to Lil' Bling after Iron Starlette died, immediately put up Make It Rain, and used Blingtron Gift Package. Used SMCKTHAT.EXE as a filler until Make It Rain/Blingtron Gift Package were ready to cast again. This took Lil' Bling through both of the accompanying pets (blue and green quality Mountain Cottontails) and I never had to switch to the Ancient Nest Guardian.

野生動物保護部隊 is randomly available in Highmountain (56.31, 53.17) and only visible if you've unlocked World Quests.

You will fight the level 25 epic beast 飢餓的冰牙 (with attacks 突襲, 嚎叫, 極凍之寒), and two cronies (random pets of random quality).

My Team:

安靜的機械雪人 (1,1,2)
小布靈登 (2,1,1)
泰洛雄鷹寶寶 (1,2,2) < this pet is for the random rest of the team, any favorite will probably work just as well (ex. 翡翠元龍)
^beta BfA shows that Teroclaw will have its moveset changed. Not as useful, if implemented.

If Bling dies while Icefang is still alive, finish off with Yeti:
- use Icefang's HP to determine whether to use 金屬之拳 (small HP) or 離子砲 (more substantial HP)

I had a lucky set of white/gray quality randoms, so my Teroclaw dispatched them easily with mainly 自然結界 & 爪擊, and a single 閃躲 to avoid procs from a 青蛙之吻.

Iron starlette; windup, supercharge, windup, windup, windup. Then just cleanup duty.

No need for fancy work as it's not a "other achi" battle, just the main world quest one.

Wildlife Protection Force - World Quest, Defeat Hungry Icefang, he is a legendary pet and he is only available to battle when his World Quest Wildlife Protection force is up. Since he is a legendary pet the xp gained isn't worth trying to lev a pet when battling him.

Any of the 3 pets I used could solo this if you wanted to try and gain some xp but it truly isn't worth it imo.

Zandalari Anklerender - Black Claw, Primal Cry & Hunting Party
Iron Starlette (didnt use) Wind up, Toxic Smoke & Supercharge
Anusbisath Idol - Demolish, Sandstorm & Rupture

I started with the Zandalari Anklerender, Primal Cry, Black Claw then Hunting Party followed by one more Primal Cry and he was dead. Left him in till he was dead then brought in(if i was try bring a carry this is where Id a brought him in for a round) the Anusbisath Idol started with Sandstorm and Demo and it was lights out. I did catch one of the back line pets as I didn't have him.

I used 附魔掃帚 and he took the wolf down and almost the other 2 pets.

Keep 沙塵風暴 up. This will make you immune to the stacking Frostbite.

Spam 上緊發條 until the wolf dies.

With luck you'll take down the back-line pets too, but if not, you'll have your 2 other pets to finish them off.

Soloed with Anubisath Idol

阿努比薩斯塑像; went with 2-1-1, probably would recommend 1-1-1 for more guaranteed hits.

The Sandstorm blocks the Frostbite entirely, as well as other DoT effects I saw from the two additional mobs. I got low with Anub, but was able to pull it off easily overall. Deflect did not help block the Chill/Frostbite effect, but Sandstorm negated the damage.

Overall, damage reducers will most likely be able to handle this fight well.

Soloed it and the other 2 random(?) pets with Jade Crane Chick (available to anyone; just make a Pandaren). Jadeskin alone invalidates his stacking DoT. Just use Flock to open him up then blast away with Slicing Wind.

Solo'd it with Emerald Proto-Whelp with Emerald Bite, Emerald Presence, and Emerald Dream.

Open with Emerald Presence, it will completely mitigate the frost DoT. Fill with Bite, refresh Presence when it has one round left, and heal with Dream when you reach around half health. It's a little slow but very, very reliable.

Jade Crane Chick (1,2,2)
Start with Jadeskin and keep it up.
Flock, slicing wind as needed.
Any other lvl25 pet to mop up other mobs. If you want, bring in 600+ health levelling pet if Jade Crane dies, swap it in and then swap to LvL25 pet.

I used Pebble, took all the stacks Hungry Icefang throws on him too, then used the other pets to clean up the two trash pets.

Defeated the Hungry Icefang for the Sharptalon Team Rumble with the following pets

Enchanted Broom (2/1/2)
Sharptalon Hatchling (1/1/1)
And any other magical pet you want.

The Enchanted Broom can basically solo the hungry icefang. Start off with Sandstorm and keep it up the entire fight, it will block all damage from Blistering Cold. With a big of luck it will also make him miss with a couple of other hits, whilst you use Wind Up to kill him off. The other two backline pets should not be an issue with whatever combo you use. I only had to use Sandstorm on Cooldown and batter and the job was done!

For the Snowfeather Team Rumble, Zomstrok with Toxic Skin can solo Hungry Icefang as every application of Frostbite will proc damage from the ability.

Moonshell Crab - 2,1,1 - P/P

Wanted to see if this guy would give much xp to levelling pets and found that this crab managed to solo both the wolf and the two backline pets. Took quite a while and wasn't worth much xp but it could be an option for someone struggling.

Basically maintain Shell Shield and Renewing Mists, at 325 Power these two were blocking all the periodic damage and healing through his other hits. Beyond that just spam Water Jet and you should be good. Sturdy little guy!

The other strategy here using 伊奇 preloads extra damage with an 未誕生的華爾琪, this isn't necessary, ikky can take out the wolf solo with the black claw and flock method. Continue fighting the wild pets with ikky until it dies, if you want to bother with a carry pet for such a small amount of exp bring it in before bringing in whatever pet you'd like to clean up the two wild pets that join the wolf. I used 貓科魔寵 because it was already on my roster but many other pets can easily finish off two wild pets.

Hi all, thought I'd chuck this up because I struggle to find pet team options/strats that are just basic, everyday pets.

I had a Dread Hatchling - 2, 1, 1, Axebeak Hatchling - 1, 1, 1, and Brilliant Bloodfeather - 1, 1, 2 (didn't even use).

I went for the defence (beast abilities weak against flying type) because this guy has a nasty stack and I like to not heal if I don't have to. Any flying type should work fine, I had the Dread Hatchling on my previous team and I like using blinded, and the other two were near the top of my flying pets list so I just went with them from pure laziness.

I found Lift Off from the Axebeak to be nice just to push back the stack for a turn, but didn't have a great deal of trouble. The other pets in the enemy team were beast and aquatic so I'd say if you want a simple team just go 3 x lvl 25, rare flying types. No need for the more difficult pets, so a good option for someone who can't be bothered to overthink the team, or someone who's just starting out and doesn't have all the 'harder' pets to get.

I didn't need my 3rd pet, so if you use some heals then you could easily get away with chucking in a low level pet to gain some xp. My Dread Hatchling died, and Axebeak was pretty low, but as I said, 3rd pet was only a backup. If you actually want to put some effort in, grab some flying that have around 280+ speed, that will also make things a little easier but not essential.

銳爪小龍隼 absolutely demolishes this fight. It's not worth much XP, but you may as well use a leveling pet here because Sharptalon is so OP that you won't really need a 3rd pet for anything.

Whatever cleanup pet you want - I use a 雪羽小龍隼 1/2/1 because I've had the backline spawn with rares and Crouch will nullify just about anything

9. Predatory Strike if you can, but depending on Backline #2, Sharptalon Hatchling may be dead first - Leveling Pet comes in
10. Swap to Snowfeather Hatchling (or whatever else you feel like curb-stomping Backline #2 with)
11-?. Facesmash, Win
