These seem like a waste to me. Considering you can upgrade your pet fully when a 無瑕戰鬥石 (or one of the family specific ones) all the way from a Poor quality AND most quest/achievement pets come in Uncommon quality already, the only purpose this can serve at the moment is to upgrade a grey/white quality pet that you've captured so that it's not completely worthless when you level it until you're able to upgrade it to a Rare with a stone.

You could either continue to capture that pet until you get a rare of the breed you want, OR you could just wait until you have an appropriate flawless stone (you wouldn't want to level past 15 anyway because you lose levels when you apply the Flawless Battle Stones past that point.

These will be pretty much garbage, as there are only two categories that matter with the pet battle system - rare, and everything else. You only battle with an uncommon pet if you it has a moveset that you can't find on a rare variety (ie. Winter Helper, Gilnean Raven), and pretty much all of those kinds of pets come as uncommon already. And if you're just collecting pets, poor quality is just the same as uncommon.

You might use it on a rare spawn like Minfernal to make it look better in your journal, but no decent pet collector is going to lose sleep if they never see one of these uncommon stones.

To use one of these, you need to take out the pet in question, target it, and then use the item. (Don't spend minutes trying to click on the pet in the journal like I did...)

The question here is how does one acquire this stone? Supposedly it is obtained via a vendor for 1000 jp. However since the patch has gone live i have not seen hide nor Hair of this stone or any of the other stones of this nature.

While I agree with jaxson that when it comes to battle pet system there is only two types of pets rare and useless. I must disagree that these stones are garbage. He sighted the perfect example of why to use these, but stopped a step early in his analysis. The 小煉獄火 is so difficult to get some people have reported camping it for weeks with no love.

These stones will allow you to upgrade that "I finally got one I don't care if its poor" version to uncommon. Then you take the next step and use 無瑕戰鬥石 or in the case of the 小煉獄火 a 無瑕魔法生物戰鬥石 to upgrade your rare pet to rare quality.

Note to self and others: Do not bother leveling up the minfernal until it has been upgraded as it will lose 2 levels upon upgrade if it is above level 15.

I think these stones should be a 2, maybe 3, tier depending on the quality of the pet it is used on.

1. If a pet is poor or common, upgrade it to uncommon

2. If a pet is uncommon, upgrade it to rare.

3. If pet is rare, make it cage-able *once*.
So once un-caged it looses the ability to be re-caged, unless another P-BS is used

Because P-BS can be brought, for a fairly high cost, it allows people to upgrade a super rare spawn like Minfernal, to uncommon, then rare with up to 2 stones, and possibly cage-able, all from doing dailies, ect.

Keep in mind that the item's text reads 'Pets level 15 and greater lose up to two levels in the process.', meaning that some times your pet will only lose one level, rather than two. This, of course, holds true for the family specific stones as well.

I'd say the chance that a pet will lose 2 levels is greater than any other possibility. I may have even seen a pet lose no levels at all, but I will need to run more tests.

This battle stone can now also drop from pet battles.
I just got one today after a pvp battle.

It seems to be random. I got 6 of them till now - but I have no idea for what I should use them.

Since I started to see how the drop rates are I was winning 45 battles as level 90: I got:
after 45 Battles:
6x 拋光戰鬥石
1x 無瑕飛行生物戰鬥石
13x I received Lesser Charms of good Fortune (1-6 of them dropped each time - a total of 46)

after 60 Battles:
7x 拋光戰鬥石
1x 無瑕飛行生物戰鬥石
18x I received Lesser Charms of good Fortune (1-6 of them dropped each time - a total of 63)

If I could sell these for anything... 20 valor points, enchanting mats, 100g, I would (yes, I know they vendor for one copper). These are pointless. I'm accumulating a stack of them in my bags. Anything worth upgrading I'm going to use a blue stone on. If I level a green pet (for lack of a blue stone) and get them to 25, THEN get a blue stone, it's going to set them back two big levels and I'm just going to have to level them again. Garbage.

Edit: Going on fifty of these things. The least they could do is let them stack to 10 like the other stones. If they don't create a use for these soon, I'm just going to have to vendor / destroy the whole lot. :(

It would be useful if we could take 5 and trade for a Flawless. Family specific doesn't matter. Right now with level 25 pet battles the difference between a rare and uncommon is 20% stats, it's a big deal. Im sitting on 17 Polished on my main with probably another 10 scattered on alts, they're just taking up bag space. (Only sells for a copper? Commeee onnnn.)

These would be so much better if they added up to two levels. As it is they are useless. If instead they added a couple levels, then you could capture a poor or common variety pet, upgrade it and give a slight boost so you can level it a bit, and then when you finally have a flawless battle-stone, you can use that, losing the couple of levels you got from the early boost.

Just defeat Masters until you get the necessary Flawless Stone. If your training anything but Rare-quality pets, your doing Pet Battles wrong.

Blizzard dropped the ball on this one. Even with JP being a low-value currency, 1,000JP is very overpriced. If these cost gold (say, 50-100g) people might actually buy them. At least that way people would be more tempted to use them as a stop-gap measure. I know I wouldn't think twice about blowing 50g a pop just to bump up some of my substandard pets until I could find something better or get lucky with the blue stones.

Personally, I don't find these entirely worthless. I wouldn't spend JP on them, but I do find uses for some of the ones I've gotten as rewards from pet battles.

The main issue people have seems to be that when you upgrade using a rare quality stone, you drop up to two levels. However, this is easily countered by using it as an XP soaker in just 1 daily battle against a Pandaria trainer. Even without XP buffs, just 1 battle will take you well into 24, at which point you can get the rest by using it as a soaker against the Beasts of Fable until it dings (I wouldn't use against 2 trainers as you'll lose a lot of potential XP).

And by using the stone, you make the pet at least viable in PvE environments, including the Celestial Tournament, until you can get the appropriate rare-stone.

As for the argument that you will only use this on pets you can farm for rare quality (as reward/dropped pets are at least uncommon, if not rare, quality), this helps in a couple situations:

Difficult to farm pets (Minfernal, Arctic Fox Kit, etc)
Farming a particular breed
Farming a particular breed of a difficult to farm pet

Making it uncommon gives it enough oomph to at least level as a soaker pet (improved HP), and again useful in PvE battles. Once you have the means to upgrade it to rare, you can relevel it to 25 via 1 round worth of dailies (1 trainer, and soaking for Beasts of Fable).

While it's not hard to collect rare stones, getting the breed you're looking for may take a while (yay RNG). I prefer finding an appropriate type to upgrade rather than cashing in for a generic stone (for me, based on my own goals and current rares, upgrading 3 pets of a given family > leveling 1 pet of another type just because I like the pet).

A useful way of using these is to boost your counter for Pro Pet Mob - level a common or poor pet to 25, apply stone, it turns 23, level to 25 - if it's a pet you want rare, apply Flawless stone and level to cap again. You get 2 or 3 ticks in the counter on just one pet.
Whether that's a waste of time or not depends on how soon you want the achievement and how many pets you plan on leveling.

I use these to upgrade my low level common battle pets. Normally I won't bother catching anything unless it's Uncommon at the very least. There are circumstances where I will pick up a Common... Pretty much when I'm sick of trying to catch a rare. For example the Harpy Youngling. After spending hours trying to get them to even spawn, I gave up and captured a Common, used the stone to make it Uncommon. At level 4, no loss of level. lol.

Does anyone know how these stones affect the stats though? Is it just a random shuffle or a percentage increase in all stats?

Received one of these from a PVP pet battle this evening but when I go to use it I get a 'Wrong Pet Type' error.

I assume this was something that crept in with the patch (or hot-fix), but have submitted a bug report anyway.

It seems as of the new patch 6.02, they no longer work on anything but critter-type battlepets. So not only are they useless, but they are insanely MORE useless.

On a whim, I tried the stone I'd been hanging onto on a Magic pet with poor quality - . I was able to upgrade the Magic pet from poor to uncommon without the "wrong pet type" error people have been reporting for months. I only had one stone to test, but the result seems to imply the stone works as intended.
