Drops from Sulik'shor (rare elite in Valley of the four Winds.
A very cool, and free, flask. While the level 90 flasks are +1000 stats (煦日精煉藥劑落葉精煉藥劑), for a healer of hybrid dps you could happily use this as a +500 Intellect / Wisdom / Stamina flask, and I doubt even the harshest of raid leaders would argue with you.

A little sub par for most other players in need of flask buffs, but considering you can get it at level 85 it's great for leveling and occasions when you dont want to use a full flask.

Currently works in non-rated battlegrounds.
Is not consumed on use.

This NPC is located at the Cave of Endless Echoes north of The Heartland. He is a Mogu and there are elites around his spawn location. Fight is fairly easy, not sure of his exact abilities, but he did hardly any damage to my pet.

This dropped for me today from Sulik'shor on Cho'gall around 1:15pm, along with a BoP blue (that I couldn't use so disenchanted). My brother chose to level a monk instead and needless to say he was thoroughly PO'ed when I linked it to him :D

Very, very nice item to have especially right now in the leveling mode. Golden lotuses are still really expensive and this is a lot better than the Cataclysm flasks. It's just a shame I got it on my warlock, it would be so amazing for a druid -_- Too bad it isn't BoA with a min lvl of 85, would love to reuse it :P

Just received this item last night and was very excited. It's great for dungeons or daily quests as a free flask that never runs out of uses. Can also be used as a raid flask if you please.

This is definitely one of the most camped rare spawns in the game. I've camped a lot of them and this is the only one I had trouble always getting the tag.

As for spawn time, the shortest I saw was 50 mins, longest 90. This seems to be a trend for all rare spawns nowadays.

As for the theories on killing elites, the only correlation I saw with the elites around him was he seemed to spawn with them. An alliance three man was clearing the place constantly, and he would spawn as the rest of his guards did. I saw this happen 4-5 times. Take from it what you will I guess. I doubt there is any connection between them in terms of affecting spawn time, but it was a big coincidence to see his guards and him spawning at the exact same moment.

Sweet drop. I got lucky and tripped over Sulik'shor without knowing who it was. Got it on the first kill. It may not be +1000, but I am quite satisfied with +500.

The elites around him respawn when he spawns, but killing them will not make him pop any faster. Also note that it is possible for the elites to spawn without him spawning, but that they are right on schedule. I've witnessed the entire camp respawn at the same time. I've found this to be an effective way to "track" if he has spawned recently. I kill one of the elites further away from his spawn... If I come back an hour later and it is still dead, I stop to camp.

My statistics today (a Saturday, for those suggesting that killing other rares could possibly spawn him quicker):

Unlike Mark of the Wild/Blessing of Kings/Legacy of the Emperor, this actually increases Spirit along with the other stats, which means that it could theoretically replace a flask for a healer who wants both Spirit and Intellect since it gives 500 of both, a total of the same +1000 that Pandaria flasks provide.

this is a very good item, easily the best drop out of all the elites as most of them just drop vanity items, +500 all stats is a huge buff and I could still see this as having a viable use even into the next expansion as it isn't a trinket.

Killed first time and it didn't drop.

Killed second time, which took about one hour and twenty minutes, and I got it.

He is a relatively easy kill, considering what he drops, but also purely from mechanics. They are fairly simple. Move out of bad stuff, interupt his casting if you can, kill him before he kills you.

This is worth camping in my opinion, especially if you're not an alchemist.

I wonder what happens when you use this item and Puzzlebox of Yogg-Saron at the same time. Insanity overload? Surely it cannot be good for the adventurer's mental health, especially if it is combined with full saronite garb, in the middle of Yogg-Saron's prison.

It really should have a text like this:

Warning. Repeated use might lead to mental breakdown, eventual worship of malicous entities, a lust to kill all living things and overweight. Might lead to serious underweight amongst male Pandaren.

Some people are lucky, but others aren't. My luck is such that I have killed this guy 80 times. Yes, that's right... EIGHTY times as of last night and I have yet to see a Crystal of Insanity. I take a screenshot every time I kill him so I can remember the times.

I feel as though once it does drop, I might delete it on purpose to continue the trend of insanity. This drop is truly insanity inducing in itself. I don't know how many times I have killed others trying to farm him, or have jumped out of bed when NPC scan went off, just to loot some random blue item that I've seen a couple dozen times already.

I keep killing him, expecting different results... isn't that insanity itself?

*Update: I have killed him 104 times now. Still no Crystal.
*Update: 106th kill, got the Crystal of Insanity. I relogged to make sure I actually did have it in my bags and that it wasn't playing tricks on me. Finally, I can get a good nights rest without NPC scan making me jump out of bed.

Starting to think Blizzard nerfed the drop rare for this admittedly imba drop. Even allowing for rotten luck on RNG I've lost count of the times I killed him now - certainly scores, often 5 or more times a day - for weeks. Often alone, in groups if anyone else is here, but all I see is gloves and the odd bag. I dare say it was 9% when he first came, but I believe the rate is lowered to 2% or less now.

Naturally I'll get a troll - or even a genuine person saying, "I got it first try" but those are the odds, eh. All the same, same another soul destroying item for you to waste your life chasing - until the next one - and the next - ad infinitum

I wanted to share that as a level 90 fury (SMF) warrior, I gained:

+1050 Attack Power from the +500 Strength
+0.05% Critical Strike from the +500 Agility
+7000 Health from the +500 Stamina

I hope this can answer another Warrior's curiosity on whether or not to camp Sulik'shor in Valley of the Four Winds.

With a holy pally main, I certainly consider this to be the best rare drop. I have been using 1000 spirit flasks, and 500 spirit/500 int is perfectly viable. When doing farm content, this will save me from purchasing flasks (and let me use flasks for heroics and lfr). I have to admit, I got this awfully easily. I logged on in his area at a time when the campers were busy waiting for Galleon to spawn. It was not only my first kill, but it was the first time I'd actually seen the mob, alive or dead. Nobody seemed to be around, and he was very easy to kill (in ret spec).

Since I don't see it here yet, and I've been wanting to know how far the 'all' stats goes, here's a little experiment.

On my dk tank, stats before use:
Strength: 8 696
Stamina: 15 912
Hit: 1 775
Expertise: 653
Dodge: 2 413
Parry: 1 714
Mastery: 5 050

After use of the crystal:
Strength: 8 696 +500
Stamina: 15 912 +500
Hit: 1 775 (unchanged)
Expertise: 653 (unchanged)
Dodge: 2 413 (unchanged)
Parry: 1 714 (unchanged)
Mastery: 5 050 (unchanged)

So, basically, with all they mean Strength, agility, stamina, intellect and spirit, aka your attributes.
To some that may be straightforward, but for those who were asking the same question as me:
Here's your answer.

The droprate is nowhere remotely close to 9%. It must have been changed in recent weeks. I have 51 kills so far and it hasn't dropped for me. The odds of that happening with a 9% droprate are infinitesimal. If you're camping this, be ready for a long, long haul.

Edit: Finally got it, total of 74 kills. The item does work in raids but (as other posters have mentioned) does not persist through death, so it's not great on wipe-fests. Still, it's a pretty great item.

i have almost every other item from the rares and i didnt even camp them

ive been camping this guy for 15 days and i kill him at least 6 times per day some days even 10 times and he still hasnt dropped it.

blizzard must have nerfed the drop on this one or smth

If you have a Combat Rogue with this item, like me, and wonder how less effective you get with this against a flask, I've made a comparison with 春綻精煉藥劑

Based on wowhead weights for a Combat Rogue, efficiency of a 精神錯亂水晶 is equivalent to (68,13% + 7k Health) of a 春綻精煉藥劑

Or 54,5k points for 精神錯亂水晶 and 80k points for 春綻精煉藥劑

If you convert those points to brute DPS (without talents, procs...), you get 397.8 against 583.9

But do remember that 精神錯亂水晶 doesn't persist through death and has a 15min CD.

Dropped for me without knowing it existed on the first and only kill ... I was doing tiller quests and thought it looked like an unusual NPC for the area I was in (nearby Hozen)

Killed it and was surprised to finally something useful drop on my main Paladin Healer. Very nice buff for all classes but even more so to get 500 Int and Spirit! :)

interesting fact: killing the surrounding elites (Mogu Infiltrators) will tell you when Sulik'shor has spawned. It appears when Sulik'shor spawns, all the Mogu Infiltrators respawn as well.

So... my total kills until now is 84 on 10 different toons, and i got the item 9 times. Respawn times vary between 41 min and as long as 3h 11min. I've seen the entire camp respawn without dear mr. Sulik'shor more than a few times.
I am camping now with my 10th toon and either my patience reached its limit or the time between respawns is more often the longer one... either 2h11min, 2h42 or more than 3 hrs.
But in the end is worth it.
This is the most hunted item from a rare drop i think, since I've seen as much as 7-8 ppl camping the spot in the same time.

Just wanted to document that my longest respawn was 3 hours and 42 minutes, which just so happened to be the one it dropped on. I hadn't seen a comment with such a long respawn time. And yes, I was at key the whole time and I did not go take out the other rare spawns inbetween respawns.

As of 5.2, the surrounding adds are no longer an indicator in Sulik'shor has spawned.

The surrounding adds now respawn on about a 10 min timer.

Dropped today for me on the 20th kill. Camped it for 3 days. Average spawntime during these trys was ~50 minutes. Quickest respawn after 40 minutes, and a maximum of 65 minutes.

This item is not on the global cooldown and does not overwrite any flasks (but does overwrite Elixirs!). This means it's a good choice to put it in a macro for one of your primary abilities to have the best possible uptime, like so:

Fyi, there is no equivalent flask/elixir to this item. There are high level comparable flasks such as 煦日精煉藥劑 that give 1000 in a main stat for 1 hr (persists through death unlike the crystal of insanity). These flasks typically require a golden lotus to craft though, so can be pretty expensive. I also don't see the 15 min cooldown as a deterrent to the Crystal because the duration is 1 hr, so unless you're dying a lot it won't be an issue.

TLDR:

The crystal of insanity = +500 to all stats, 1hr duration, does NOT persist through death, not consumable, 15 min cooldown
Craftable/buyable flasks = +1k to your main stat, 1 hr duration, DOES persist through death, consumable, $

Alright so I've been trying to camp this rare spawn for the crystal for a little while now. I play a level 90 warlock and haven't had the crystal to spawn yet. I've realized though that the spawn timer is anywhere from 30 minutes to 2 hours or so. It's random which isn't good, but on a side note, does anyone know if this is worth it for a destro warlock?

Got this today on Norgannon. Level 90 Frost DK. I've killed him before maybe 5 or 6 times. Oddly enough I just heard about this item earlier in the day. Had no idea it dropped from this particular rare and Killed him (again) on a whim. Glad I did! Time was 6:30 pm server. So about 3:30 pm pst.

I got this today and would make a few recomendations

one use a /tar sul macro
and use a instant cast spell like a taunt.

The mob has a 45-55 min spawn time when normal..

I presumed when other rares are being farmed it would speed the spawn up and be about 25-30 minutes.

After 73 attempts with Sulik'shor, it finally dropped for me on my main... but I learned a few things along the way. You will have a better chance of it dropping if you are grouped with someone. If the other person already has it, your chances go up considerably of it dropping. And he respawns anywhere from 28mins to 45-ish mins. I find high traffic times lead to faster respawns. Since this little experiment, I have seen it drop up to 5 times a day when I group with others who are after it. So pair up with someone who has it, and go camping. Shouldn't take more than 2 or 3 tries.

Finally got it after 3 straight kills. 55 minutes to 65 minutes respawn in Tichondrius so was easy to just swoop back in and camp a few minutes. Even with competition was no problem, he spawns in exact same spot each time so I would station my hunter pet right on the spawn point and lay Ice Trap (frost) so I got aggro immediately.

The big question is for normal raiding would you use 精神錯亂水晶 or a flask, from purely a DPS standpoint. Not from cost/value standpoint.

I've had this item since release from Valley of the Four Winds and I've always loved it, however today when patch 5.4 came I buffed up and noticed a 2 hour duration! The tooltip still says 1 hour. I don't know if this is intended or if it stacks with each use now or what but I like it.

Loging out while having the stats buff and then applying the crystal the next day makes the buff visual tooltip display a 2hr buff status.

I thought this was a 5.3 tooltip error but it didn't get fixed in 5.4.

Looted this from an Eerie crystal on my priest. It doesn't seem to benefit all specs equally, though.This is perfect to replace expensive flasks for Healers(+500 Int & +500 Spirit) and usually for Tanks (+500 Stam & +500 Str/Agi).

Leather melee, Enhance Shammies and hunters would receive an attack power bonus from the extra Str but not as good as +1000 Agi from Flask of Spring Blossoms. The inverse would be true for Plate melee in regards to Flask of Winter's Bite. Caster DPS, however, will only benefit in throughput from their main stat Int; unless they're a hybrid, in which case they can receive +Hit from Spirit.

I don't think the 2% droprate from Eerie Crystals on Timeless Isle is correct; it seems to be considerably higher than that. Seven 90s, and all of them managed to get one on the Isle with less than 20 Eerie Crystals. In fact, only two of my characters went beyond 10 crystals in search of this; the rest found a Crystal of Insanity by the 5th Eerie.

If you click it once, the buff lasts an hour.

If you click it 15 minutes later, the duration stacks and it adds another hour.

As far as I know, the elixir in this Flask is usable like any other elixir and the same rules of the game apply, except that its effect does not persist through death. The same is true for all Timeless Isle buff items that I have used so far, where the Crystal of Insanity can be found within the Eerie Crystal.

An elixir is either a Battle Elixir, a Guardian Elixir, or both Battle & Guardian Elixir. A PC can use one Battle Elixir and one Guardian Elixir at the same time. Only one Battle & Guardian Elixir can be in effect at any time, and a Battle Elixir and/or a Guardian Elixir cannot be in effect at the same time as an elixir that is both.

(1) If a PC uses a different Battle Elixir while another is in effect, then its effect replaces the effect of the other Battle Elixir.

(2) If a PC uses a different Guardian Elixir while another is in effect, then its effect replaces the effect of the other Guardian Elixir.

(3) If a PC uses any different elixir while a Battle & Guardian Elixir is in effect, then its effect replaces the effect of the Battle & Guardian Elixir. Using a Battle & Guardian Elixir replaces any Battle Elixir and/or Guardian Elixir that is in effect, and replaces any other Battle & Guardian Elixir that is in effect.

(4) If a PC uses the same elixir as an elixir that is currently in effect, then, ordinarily, the amount of time the elixir will be in effect is added to the duration of the elixir that is currently in effect.

Ordinarily, a PC can use potions while an elixir is in effect without the elixir affecting the potion(s) and vice-versa. In most cases, though, if a PC uses a potion which has an effect over time, such as making the PC invisible for a while, then either (1) the existing effect of the potion is removed when another potion is used, or (2) any other potion will not take effect and it may be wasted if used.

(Note: a Flask always contains an elixir, and an elixir is always in a Flask.)

Got this today.... Happy Thanksgiving ! Crystal of Insanity on Nesingwary / Vek'nilash. Camped him for 3 hours, a few people stopped an asked any luck, and mentioned they downed him over 30x's and still don't have it and I got it on my fifth kill, I feel lucky. He spawned at 10:10 am 10:43 am 11:22am 12:21 and I got it at 1:09 all times server time. good luck, I think its a must for hard core raiding. Posting the spawn times for any1 that cares

Kind of sucks that it doesn't benefit alchemists. I have used it on my alchemist and it gives the +500 bonus, doesn't double duration and it doesn't give the alchemist bonus you get for using flasks, +320 for a stat. Well unless they changed it in last patch. I deleted mine after I saw it was useless.

After weeks of camping Sulik'shor, I found out here that the eerie crystals on timeless isle may also contain it. So I entered the cave, scuttler shell on head, prepared for an hours long clicking (killed the rare about a dozen times with no luck).

First crystal. I couldnt believe my eyes. Seriously, once you can visit Timeless, hit the cave, there is no reason at all anymore to kill that overfarmed mogu!

As of this patch it is not consumed on use so you can use it again and again huzza.
oh it has a 15 min cool down, but you don't have to farm it to use it again.

Yeah this seems to be fairly easy to get. Its easy to go around the cave and just pick up every crystal until you get this although the elementals may be a small problem.

Not sure if this is right or not but it seemed my DPS was a bit better as a hunter with just an agility flask. Not sure if it was the raid makeup or what but the 1,000 agi I get from a flask versus the 500 agi and 500 strength suited me better. Has anyone else seen this or have some insight I'm missing?

Duration may be extended for this item by using twice consecutively within the initial hour.
Three time use every 15 minutes will not boost beyond the 2hr max.

After almost loosing my sanity, trying to get this item, I had to come back here and save others from going where I've been. First time got it with my pala just by mistake. Saw a rare mob from time to time and got the chance to kill him two times, second kill got me a nice drop and thought that it will be cool to get it with my dk too. Managed to keep track of his spawn rate, got there when he was about to spawn. Killed him three times in a row and got lucky. Then I thought that it will be awsome to get the crystal for my warrior too. This is where my nightmare begins, camped the f#*^#r like crazy, 4-5 days in a row almost, managed to kill him almost every hour(even with 2-3 other players around me), 30-40 times in total... Didn't got the damn crystal so I've decided to accept that the warrior is just that unlucky and tryied to forget about it. Few days later, I was telling to a guild member about this, and get this, he tells me that THE ITEM DROPS FROM THE BLUE CRYSTALS THAT YOU CAN LOOT IN A CAVE ON THE TIMELESS ISLE, WITH THE ENTRANCE AT 43.40 COORDS. It took me 15 minutes, 15 damn minutes to get it. Save yourself the time and go there.

Got this on my hunter main prior to 5.4 from Sulik'shor in Vot4W, then from the cavern of lost spirits for my lock alt in Timeless Isle within like 10mins. It's RNG that determines if you'll find it within 1min or 1hr+.

Helped my GM get it on 1 of her alts & it took over 25mins but then I helped a new WoW buddy get it & got it on his 1st try.

So yea, it's all about if the RNG God's are on ur side that day or not.

It's def. a must have though! Everyone should have this. I use flasks during raids but during everything else I do I always use this.

I got this out in the Timeless Isle cave where there little crystals are (where the annoying elementals are). I really enjoy it... little fun fact. the duration stacks. I had maybe 45 minutes or so left, then just popped it back on me, it made the duration 2 hours, still seems to be only +500, but still..

I'm not sure if they increased the drop rate for these, but I got one on each of my alts in less than 20 attempts at picking Eerie Crystals in the cave on Timeless Isle (where Rock Moss and Spirit of Jadefire spawn).

On two of my toons, I got the crystal in less than 10 attempts; on the other two it took between 15-20 before I got it but I did not spend more than 5 minutes farming this on FOUR different toons, so I've got to believe they increased the drop rate, and that it's not a fluke that I got it so fast just once or twice.

Great item to have, as others have said its a nice little mini-flask / self buff to have on you at all times... very nice little item.

I don't know if it's been already said, but it's important to mention that this is especially great for dps that rely on Spirit for Hit % (talking about you Ele and Spriests). The 500 Spirit it provides grant +/- 1.47% Hit in addition to the +500 Intellect, so this is almost (if not) better than the actual 1k Int Flask for said specs, assuming one is not swimming in Hit.

Easily farmable from the Timeless isle.

They drop from the earie crystals and i never seem to have to farm many to get this item to drop.

The droprate seems to be good seeing that i have this item on all my alts and main and i didnt take me more than 10 mins on most of the toons.

This item is well worth getting.

I spent a few minutes farming the cave. I found several in the Erie Crystals. Since they are unique and limited carry items I though that I would be able keep them when my loot screen disappeared. Surprisingly "The Postmaster" Mailed them to me. So now I have several sitting in my mail box that I can't carry. Anyone else come across this?

The stat buff stacks once you use it after it's 10 min CD. It stacks to 2hrs. :D Or at least it does for me since I have Alchemy. I'm not sure if it's because of Mixology or just because it can stack in general.❀◕ ‿ ◕❀

At the risk of being downvoted for providing superfluous 'we already know that' information, I want to note that as of patch 5.4.8 PCs that are less than 90 can still loot this item (it says requires level 85 - unsure if that is to loot or just use.) Regardless, I post because RNG was making me extremely anxious as I had looted over 40 eerie crystals to no avail, enough to get over 350 timeless coins, and was worried that Blizzard stealth nerfed the drop rate for lower level toons. So to anyone in my same boat, persistence is key, you will eventually loot one, even if you're not level 90.

I'm not sure if this is new, but this item drops when you loot the blue crystals in the cave where Rock Moss is in Timeless Isle. The drop rate is really good, I got it with 4, 10, 15 and 20 tries with 4 characters when a good person informed me I no longer need to kill the idiot rare in Valley. Very helpful.

I'm not sure if it increases all stats (primary and secondary) or only primary. Anyone an insight?

Apparently I'm very lucky. Got this on the first and only kill and I wasn't even trying to find it, I just like killing rares. It's good in a pinch when no flasks are handy and if you're good and don't wipe a lot in dungeons or raids then it's invaluable.

Just farmed this on my main in the Cavern of Lost Souls on Timeless Isle, it did not take long at all despite the low drop rate. I only ran around the cavern once then looted a couple more crystals until I got it.
Much better method of farming rather than killing the rare.

Use it again after the cooldown is up and the buff duration stacks to two hours. Honestly, every player should farm this item at least on their main. It's a staple of the expansion in my opinion.

I went to the Caverns of Lost Souls on Timeless Isle and didn't open more than 10 eerie crystals for this crystal to drop - either the drop rates have increased now or i was extremely lucky but seen this buff in action and its definitely worth the farm!

This Item also looted from The Eerie Crystals which are found in the Cavern of Lost Spirits on the Timeless Isle.
They are a common object which contains between 2 and 10 Timeless Coins, but mostly gives you 4 or 5 coins each stone.
The also have about 3 % chance of containing Crystal of Insanity.
There are many crystals in the cave, and they respawn pretty fast, so they're easy to farm.

The easiest way to get the Crystal of Insanity is to go to the Timeless Isle and go into the Cavern of Lost Spirits and lot the dark blue colored crystals found in the cave. Its MUCH faster than trying to wait for that rare mob to spawn.

This should be one of the first things you do as 85. With Timeless Isle not being as active as it was in MOP getting this item is much easier. Grab a lvl 100 friend/guildie and throw on a walking water potion/mount/buff and make your way to the cave that contain the crystals. Enjoy the free buff for 15 lvls till you get the upgraded version. It's definitely worth the time!

At least in patch 6.2, this items scales up as you level. For example, at level 90 it was around 22 to all main stats and at level 100 it was the indicated 57 to all stats. This is what the tooltip says, I didn't see how much it actually added to the stats.

Looted this from Eerie Crystals in the Cave of Lost Spirits on Timeless Isle. Despite some other posts here stating otherwise, I looted it on a level 120 just fine. Killing the rare Sulik'Shor might be a good way, but if you want to farm for it, the crystals are also a good way to do it. I noted the other day that one of my lower-level characters did not have this item, and it is useful. So I decided to go looking for it on the Timeless isle, specifically from the Eerie Crystals in the Cavern of Lost Spirits. My Rogue is only level 80, which makes him a target for just about anything on the Isle, and the Tooltip on the Crystal notes you have to be Level 85 to use it, so I wasn't confident this attempt was going to work. Fortunately, I was able to sneak/vanish when necessary and even able to kill several Spirits which discovered me skulking about the cave without getting myself killed, although it was close. After opening up 12 Eerie Crystals and no drop - not even Coins were dropping- , I was wondering if perhaps I was too low-level for it to spawn. However, Crystal #13 dropped the Crystal of Insanity. I still couldn't use it, but I was able to confirm you can get it below level 85.

Post-level squish and zone scaling there are some odd interactions with looting on Timeless Isle. I opened Eerie Crystals in Cavern of Lost Spirits on a level 34 character but saw no loot at all. It wasn't until level 35 that I started getting Timeless Coins. However, I believe you still can loot the Crystal of Insanity before level 35 (maybe at level 32 as the item requires) but you will just get a lot of no-loot crystals until you happen to get the one that actually provides you with the item. Don't let that discourage you from trying. EDIT: I was able to loot it and use it on a level 33 character as of patch 10.0.5, despite not getting timeless coins when opening crystals.

WoW Remix: Mists of Pandaria - I suspect this item is not in this game mode just like most non-remix specific items. I did spend around an hour looting Eerie Crystals on a level 47 character and did not see it.
