This is one of the new scaling "Heirloom" items for levelling characters. (I assume they have PvP stats like resilience for PvP realms) Before level 40 it is a leather item. It will be slightly worse than an equivilent blue for that slot while levelling. As heirlooms are generally equippable in some of the slots that are hardest to fill, you can probably get a lot of use out of them.

They are bought with Emblems of Heroism, which are Badge of Justice-style items that drop from heroics and 10-player raids in Wrath of the Lich King.

I assume that if it did, that would scale by simple addition (that is to say, 210% XP with rest or 310% with RAF), but stranger things have happened.

Blizzard also did mention the they can be obtained by gathering Shards from any boss in Northrend only when your faction controls the area of Wintergrasp. Sort of the same system as in Terrokar with the spirit shards from Auchindoun, but continent wide.

I wouldn't really say bye bye to twinks yet, it simply requires more advanced planning on a twink's part.

Never say never in this game. If someone's determined enough to twink a toon, they will find a way to gain the upper hand or at least delay the heck out of levelling past a bracket for as long as possible. Remember: this is the game that getting the Timbermaw Exalted trinket on a 19 isn't impossible. Incredibly difficult but not impossible.

Personally, I'm glad to see Blizzard paying homage to the old Tier days. They at least remember how hard it was to level and get your hands ON this gear in the first place.

Without this on, I got 688 xp.

With it on, i got 756 xp.

That is with rested xp going.

This means it is 220% if you have rested xp and this item.

Stacks to 15% increase while rested
After looking back over My test results

Without vs with
250+125=375 without 10%
276+138=414 with 10%

276-250=26 (thats the 10% on the base xp)
138-125=13 (thats the bonus on the rested)
26+13=39

You gain 26 rep without rested
You gain 13 additional rep with rested
A total increase of 39 rep when rested instead of 26.

So using the shoulders with rested state gives you 15% increase instead of 10% when rested.

You can enchant BoA items with enchants that require ilvl 1 item, or don't have requirements of ilvl and do not bind item after enchant (rep/profession-only "soulbounding enchants" cannot be used on BoA items).

Also 10% bonus stack with rested state:
<base xp>*<rested>*<shoulders>
or simply <base xp>*2,1

Additionaly every Heirloom item will change category with profession, for example you can buy Plate shoulders, and send them to warrior on 30 lvl, shoulders will "change" into Mails, and after reaching 40lvl again into Plate.

Well doing a quick calculation based based on the earlier post, these do stack XP with rested.

688 XP rested w/o the shoulders = 344 non-rested XP

(344 * 2) + (388 * 0.2) = 756 (the 0.2 being the 10% shoulder bonus doubled.)

This, of course, is not the same as saying 344 * 2 * 1.2 which equals 825 (1.2 being the multiplier for the shoulders XP doubled)

That may be where people are getting confused.

It should also be noted that it seems all of these shoulders add 10% XP before rested AND RAF are calculated.

For normal, non-rested, it's 1.1 times XP while wearing these.
For rested XP, it's 2.2 times XP while wearing these.
For RAF, it's 3.3 times XP while wearing these.

Confirmed in ZF last night.

one of the five heirlooms it scales from 1-80 which is nice for a person you keep lvling till finally u replace at 80. I would recommend to get 1 of these because the have 10% more exp from monsters and proably the best gear you will have till you get to 80. sold by vendor in WinterGrasp. Cannot buy when you side is in the camp. Used by DPS that can wear mail like a shaman and possibly a paladin

As of 3.1 Patch notes the spell dmg Items will recieve a buff.

You can use any shoulder-enchant on BoA-shoulders now since the change in the 3.1 patch.
But you need to fit the required lvl to gain the benefit, for example last night i enchanted my Polished Spaulders of Valor with the Scryer shoulder-enchant and it got on just fine,
but i needed to be lvl70 to gain the extra attackpower and crit.

These items are called Heirloom items which can be purchased with Emblems of Valor, Heroism, and Conquest and Stone Keeper's Shards. They are useful for leveling low level characters as they provide excellent adds to your leveling experience.
1. They give an extra 10% Experience gain from killing monsters and completing quests.

2. They provide decent attribute gains for that level character. A level 1 character usually gets say about +3 or +4 for that attribute.

3. They are Bind on Account which means they can be sent throughout all of your characters of the same faction on the same realm which would be very helpful so you would not have to buy multiple sets of the same item and spend time and Emblems/Shards on the item.

I've just bought some nice shoulders for a shaman, but my friends decided to move to another realm.

BOA Gear:
I have talked to a GM and found out the following from them...

Can not be transferred to ther Servers even though it is Binds to Battle.net Account
You can transfer it between the opposing, as long as it is the same Server
If you have multiple WOW accounts you can transfer them to another one of you Characters as long as it is the same Server

I wish since it was BOA you could move you BOA gear to another Server, the only was to do so is to have it on your Character and transfer them ($25.00 US) to the Server that you desire to have them on.
