This quest reward Polearm has the maximum agility that a Hunter needs to get the job done in the Burning Crusade expansion. Unlike most spears it does not need the +25 agility enchant to make it over-the-top when providing ranged attack power. As well despite it's slow speed it makes for great dmg when combat turns close.

WOW This is such an amazing hunter weapon. Heck, it's pretty amazing for any melee class that can use it.

As a Hunter i can tell you that the polearm you get ftom HH is really good when talkin' abought dps, 92+70 ap is really amaizin'.
BUT! 52 agi = 2+ crit chance, "crit rating" gives less crit chance when u lvl up, but agi gives the same crit chance so terokk's quil is the best choice when speakin' abought crit/dps balance. I have this Pa since yesterday, and really love it :P but if your crit is above ~25% hellforged could be better, i think ill keep both:)

While this is a potentially very nice hunter weapon for pvp, I don't think it touches a green available much earlier in the game from Zangamarsh. The Survivalist's Pike
http://www.wowhead.com/?item=27751
, has far better balanced hunter stats and more attack power overall. 21 agi, 30 sta, 20 int, 40 atkp. It loses a crit compared to the quill's agi, but for leveling I'd take this weapon over it any day. My limiting factor when grinding and questing is not my RAP, but my mana pool. Especially with outland itemization, hunters need to remember that we are no longer a 2 stat class.

I agree with erizein, and to a degree with dirtyboy. I have always considered crit to be more of a grinding/pvp type of stat, while AP was more of the instancing stat (don't get me wrong you need both in both cases, I'm just talking about primary focus). In a raid or party you want high attack power to maintain consistent dps, high crits are of course probably better over all dps (considering all the talents they proc) however they make aggro kind of hard to control, and you can only FD so much. So I think this is the better weapon for grinding and pvp, but for any raids I'd easily take the halberd/blackend spear, or even the survivalist pike (MM high end talents and aspect of viper have made int very nice for consistent dps in groups). Plus your going to want to grind the thrallmar/honor hold rep anyways for your bow or gun

Yes, at level 70 there are many better options for a 2 hander. But the same could be said about the Ice Barbed Spear. Just like the Ice Barbed Spear it's not just the quality of the item but the fact that it's available at a FAR earlier level than its stats would suggest. The quest to get this weapon becomes available at level 65. Until level 68 no 2 hander can pass this thing up in power and until level 70 there aren't many practical alternatives.
It is a difficult quest to complete as Setthek Halls is a 67-69 oriented instance and the mobs are tough. However the end reward was definitely worth it.
There are only 4 other weapons before 70 that have comparable stats. The Crow Wing Reaper, which drops from Talon King Ikiss the last boss for Sethekk Halls. The Oathkeeper, a paladin weapon, Firemaul of Destruction from Shattered Halls a lvl 70 instance and Crystal Forged War axe which is a random world drop item.
This weapon is amazing, even for a Warrior. It's a little faster than the usual 2 hander but its raw damage wins out over time. Yes, it lacks strength or attack power bonuses which some assume exlcudes it from a Warrior's list. The 93 dps makes up for that shortcoming in spades.
Also the +stamina is always welcome and +agility is really quite useful nonetheless. With the 2.1 patch the +agil equals out to roughly +2% crit at level 70. Of course the +agil adds 108 armour and a decent amount of + Dodge.
In regards to the Survivalist's Pike - The actual Attack Power is 61 after factoring in Agility. Terrok's Quill is 54, that's a minor difference. Not only that but the effects the Agility stat has on criticals, armour and Dodge more than make up for the marginal attack power difference. Intellect is the big stat difference but Terrok's Quill has 30 more DPS built in, that's a difference of 420 AP in melee. A melee weapon is the Hunter's secondary weapon but this thing is so powerful that it may just be able to contest alternatives.

Maximaeros Warrior:
I got very lucky and found a good group who was willing to take me there @ 66. I would like to advice every warrior (who is still grinding and not spamming instances) to go arms at this point.
Ofc there are better 2h'rs wich you will (and can) find, but this is a great start !

Heres how i see it layed out as a 70 MS warrior:
my favorite out of these, and what i'm currently using, is
http://www.wowhead.com/?item=28253#M0z
it has a slower attack speed, pumping out higher dmg on MS and whirlwind (if you go berserker stance)
along wit the direct crit rating and basic war stats i just find it the most useful out of them. its also a easy drop from a easier instance (from First boss of mechanar) its not amazingly hard too grab.
second, everyone's favorite, the Crystalforged war axe.
http://www.wowhead.com/?item=31291
Meh, i bought this for 69, and found it pretty useless. the dps is lower then most of the other weapons i had laying around. while the stats are nice (80 AP for sure) i don't think the damage is worth it in the end. Save the money and spend it on the flying mount you'll need next level.
last is the crow wing ripper, from Sethekk halls.
http://www.wowhead.com/?item=27986#M0z
This is the only one of these i have'nt gotten, it drops from the last boss of sethekk halls. while the instance is short, the drop rate on this thing gets on my nerves after awhile. I don't think this is worth running sethekk halls for, considering theres the polearm from mech at a better drop rate. it has lower end MS damage due too lower attack speed, and no direct + crit rating. while the red sockets are nice, i don't think its worth running then buying gems for.
some runner ups are
http://www.wowhead.com/?item=29329#M0z
which has low dmg with higher attack speed, but you might end up sing it at 66 since its free from a quest.
also noteworthy,
http://www.wowhead.com/?item=27903
A nice weapon too have, but pass it too a hunter if theres one in the party. like the quill its more hunter loot, agi stam and some other neat things on there for em. but its solid MS dmg and the stats could help. likely the hardest one of all these too get, being from the last boss of shadow labyrinth.
hope this all helped any indecsive warriors, and know that most of these are arguable, this just being mah opinion.

Using WoWWiki's calculation for hunters (
http://www.wowwiki.com/Hunter
)
Comparing the Crystalforged War Axe (CFA), it looks like the CFA edges this out in nearly every category. (no, I don't count dodge rating, ever)
CFA: 1.22 crit (27 crit rating)
80 AP
150 AP w/ savagery
115 AP w/ +35 agi and 2.095% crit
TQ: 1.35 crit (from the 54 agi)
54 AP
124 AP w/savagery
89 AP and 2.225% crit
So is .13 crit > 26 AP? IMO - no.
Your call though. :)
Happy hunt(er)ing.

A really amazing weapon for its availability and as someone has mentioned above the new 'ice barbed spear'.
Sure its a little fast for the two specs that focus on 2 handers (MS warriors and ret pallies) and doesnt have ideal stats with the lack of strength but agility and stam are both nice stats to have especially when solo questing.
Plus this weapon has the added bonus of being able to take you from 65-70 which allows you to put a cheap enchant on it as well as not having to bother about weapon skills until you hit the 350 cap.
As soon as both my warrior and pally dinged 65 i begged guildies to run me through sethikk and then didnt have to worry about a weapon upgrade until 70 :)

Your math is (mostly) correct and your post is wonderfully organized, but don't forget that hunters get +2AP from AGI, so your stats of:
Quill = 1.4% crit, 54ap
HFH = .68% crit, 118 ap, 1.2% hit
Should actually look like this for hunters:
Quill = 1.4% crit, 108ap, 330 hit points
HFH = .68% crit, 144 ap, 1.2% hit
Typically, a hunter will always appreciate high agility over higher AP because of the double bonus it offers (double AP and +crit).
However
, comparing TQ to HFH isn't apples to apples for several reasons:
1) HFH is a pretty major rep reward item that comes with a hefty price tag.
2) HFH has notably higher maximum damage, enough to put it in a class of its own. When offered the two for free, a large percentage of hunters will select HFH simply for this attribute alone (both of our melee abilities are based on weapon damage).
3) The requirement difference. TQ is available at level 66 (I may be wrong), whereas HFH only comes endgame. If you really feel like grinding out rep in that hellhole of a peninsula, HFH is quickly eclipsed by a number of Dungeon or Arena face melters (this goes for any class). It's so quickly replaced, it's almost not worth grinding it out and then paying for it for a measly 36AP difference (in the event you're trying to replace TQ). This doesn't make TQ BETTER, per sé, it just shows the two weapons serve a different purpose. One is clearly a leveling weapon, one is an underpowered endgame vendor polearm.
4) TQ is a stamina weapon. HFH is ALL damage. A survival hunter will certainly appreciate the 330HP and nearly 1% crit difference of TQ. You mentioned it benefits Burst Damage hunters with GftT; but don't forget, for every bit of Stam we get, our pet gets some too. That makes TQ appeal to BM and MM hunters (for very different reasons) well over HFH.
Again, all of this is all completely different for the likes of warriors and paladins, etc; but I thought I'd toss in my 1.5 cents about how this weapon relates to hunters.

I picked this up last night and so far love it. I found that adding
http://www.wowhead.com/?spell=27971
to it makes this a great BM hunter weapon. It's by far way cheaper to get the mats for that than say the higher ranked Agility enchants.

Would this be a good weapon for DK's until northrend?i know it has more dmg than void ax but it's stat's aren't very oriented to DK's who generally need more of strength than agility.

Now that druids are able to use polearms I am guessing this is a fairly good option for them. Has anyone tried this? How does it stack up to staves like
Dreamer's Dragonstaff
or
Staff of Beasts
?

The only weapon looking like this is
http://www.wowhead.com/item=25464
which have been removed with Cataclysm or one of the patches that followed, this is now the only weapon in the game with this form, even though it has a very nice form, in my opinion.
So if a Blood Elf Paladin tries to find a make up for the Blood-Tempered Ranseur, then this is my best suggestion, and that was meant in a Roleplay meaning, for all those aspiring Blood Knights.

For transmogrifying, If your class can use this spear, I strongly recommend that you keep up with it.
There are only two items with this model in the game, and the other one, the infamous
血淬三叉矛
, was from a Blood Elf Pally Lv20 quest that is currently defunct and unavailable as of 4.3. That makes the
泰洛克之刺
the only item available with this particular model.

If you happened to do the quests pre-4.3, and vended the spear, then check inside the instance. The questgiver will have reset ,allowing you a second chance at this spear (and whatever other items are there)! Good for those who might want it for Transmog, but sold the old one!

I'm sure I got this while leveling many times over the years and vended it out because it had no secondary stats. I'm equipping a 49 now to do timewalking, and I see this has an enormous amount of agility. It is better than any other ilvl 57 weapon I can find.
