These are certainly extremely good healing legs. The comparison between them and the Legplates of the Innocent is valid, as the two are almost identical in +heal and mp/5 with gems. The difference between the two is raw stats vs. spellcrit. These legs have a VERY sizable amount of stamina and intellect, enough that I would take these instead of the Legplates of the Innocent in a theoretical situation where I have to choose which item I get to have.

The Innocent's spellcrit is nice, but when you put together:
a) the cost of gemming the Innocent to be equivalent in +heal and mp/5
b) the completely notable differential in stam/int between the two pieces, and
c) the nerf to Illumination devaluing crit (not to irrelevance, but the nerf DID have an impact on the comparable viability of stacking crit)
you see that for most players the t4 legs are superior.

Of course that's all hypothetical - you have to get to where you must make the choice between the two items before you worry about it. Myself, I've never seen the Legplates of the Innocent drop (hooray! more druid heal boots to DE every week!), and I'm tired of Kara, so t4 it is.

That's pretty much what it boils down to - both items kick ass, use what drops for you. I do love huge stamina/int totals for sheer longevity, though.

The problem with legplates of the innocent is the Gem colour of them is wrong, it will make it very hard for you to get the 26+healing, 2% reduced threat MetaGem, if you actually go for the +healing maximum. ofcause you can go after the wrong gems but then you will have to use other gems.

I'm in the nice position of having both -- but now I'm wringing my hands as whether I need to carry them both around.

I can re-socket the Legplates Off Innocent for 36 stam (and drop the int bonus) - and now they are better pvp leggings stam-wise (esp with Eye for an Eye). However I lose the nice T4 set bonus. But the question is - what is a 15 sec reduction on a 2 mincooldown on an instant crit talent worth? Is it worth the loss of approx 1% crit?

Looks like the answer is not really.

So the *ONLY* sort of casting where it is worth it is Holy Shock - which is a nice dual use spell - and being able to reliably invoke a crit is definitely nice on such a slow cooldown spell in PVP, and *maybe* to save a squishie (but this is pretty marginal - if something has done sufficient damage to someone to need healing, its *unlikely* to save em).

From a raiding perspective, it definitely seems like the T4 leggings are not as good. From PVP point of view its probably nicer to have the on demand crit.

High justicar leggings are much better than leggings of the innocent and the Justicar leggings imo.
Yes it is lacking mp5, but the base plus healing makes up for that.
The more you heal, the less mana you use.

Just wanted to add my two cents about spell crit for paladins. While it is saddening that Blizzard reduced the amount of mana we get back for spell crits from our heals, it IS at least 60%. As an early raid paladin, if you get the Lower City Prayerbook (http://www.wowhead.com/?item=30841), and use it in conjunction with Divine Illumination (http://www.wowhead.com/?spell=31842), and have a decent amount of Holy crit, you can get some mana back. Granted it's nothing SUPER, but every little bit helps. :)
