To increase lumber gathering speed/efficiency, one might want to consider to enable the "Interact Key" in the options and then do a little bit of more fine tuning.
Directly from the Options menu, you can bind the Interact Key to a specific button on your keyboard.

Enable Interact Key (image)

Copy/paste the following commands (including the / symbol, too) in your chat window:

/console SoftTargetInteractRange 30 -- this increases the reach of your interact key (default is 10)

/console SoftTargetInteractArc 2 -- this allows you to interact with objects even if you're not facing them

I calculated 1420 lumber needed, substantially more than from previous expansions, but I only got 59 items in my spreadsheet so may have missed one. Best to loot all of them you see or to get the items off AH!

Make sure you get the hatchet from your neighborhood npc, some people not doing housing are not bothering with it and you need that item to learn "track lumber"
