You know I'm glad they intend to never bring this pet back once it's gone as stated in the fine print within the store page. I did not like it when previous charity pets eventually became Blizzard's money makers. It did not feel right at all.

I hate FOMO just as much as anyone else, but when it comes to charity cosmetics I believe they should be the only exception.

雷文的舒適寵物背包: back transmog

*Important: there is no interaction between the pet and the backpack. (I really thought there was going to be one.) The pet does not jump into the backpack, or anything like that. It just stays on the ground doing pet things if you summon it, and the backpack will never be empty--it will always have a copy of the pet sleeping in it.

1. Ground pet 雷文

The pet has a little investigative Sherlock Holmes-style deerstalker hat on its head. has the following idle animations: sniffing the ground every now and then, and more intermittently, sitting down briefly to scratch himself with his hind leg. If you AFK long enough, he'll lie down on the ground and lower his head on his paws, eyes open. After a while, he gets up and sniffs hard at the air, tilting his head all the way up to sniff skywards. Then the idle animations cycle again.

2. Back piece 雷文的舒適寵物背包

It's a tan backpack with the flap open to show a copy of the 雷文 pet sleeping in it, wrapped in a green blanket. There is a magnifying glass hanging beside a front pouch on the backpack, to match the detective-themed hat the pet wears.
The pet sleeping in the backpack will twitch his head from time to time, as well as his ears. Occasionally, a butterfly will flutter over and land briefly on the backpack pet's nose. He also emits intermittent green ZZZs as he sleeps.
Similar to other backpack transmogs, It WILL hide any weapon that sheathes on your back.
It's clearly inspired by the back pieces with sleeping baby animals in Diablo 4 (and perhaps arguably, these in turn were first inspired by the ubiquitous WoW backpacks). The first one in D4, a sleeping wolf pup in a red pouch (pic here) was offered for free to D4 beta testers who reached level 20. Subsequent ones have been in the D4 cash shop, including one of a fat baby owl for druids.

Background

From October 25, 2024 - Jan 7, 2025, sales proceeds are being sent to the charity CureDuchenne. This is in honor of Mats "Ibelin" Steen, a young Norwegian WoW player known as the rogue Ibelin to his guild and friends.

Reven means "the fox" in Norwegian.

Fine print in the shop says:

These versions of items are special editions available as part of this initiative only.

So either we'll never see this exact color and appearance back, or if we do, it will be for another Cure Duchenne charity drive. Note the wording of "these versions", meaning we probably WILL see recolors and reskins.

Reven means "the fox" in Norwegian, and this fox is in honor of Mats "Ibelin" Steen ('The Remarkable Life of Ibelin' Netflix documentary), a Norwegian WoW player who suffered from Duchenne muscular dystrophy. 100% of proceeds from sales of this pet go to the charity CureDuchenne.

Just recently watched "The Remarkable Life of Ibelin" on Netflix, that is where and who this pet is inspired from and who is dedicated to.

For those that don't know, it tells the story about Mats "Ibelin" Steen, a boy/young man who suffered from muscular dystrophy his whole life and was able to live out the desires and experiences of life normally unavailable to someone like him in the digital World of Warcraft.

Found myself almost tearing up a few times throughout the film, especially during the in-game scenes as they nailed how us players see interactions between each other from a RP perspective.
