/ways are maybe not the best places to farm for these but these are what I gathered from other WoWhead comments and drop rates.

Please note that I am not 100% sure as for the IDs of what can be looted in Disturbed Dirts and Expedition Scouts, though as they are lootable through the same method it shouldn't be a problem. Do no hesitate to reply if you looted one or the other and the IDs are wrong so I can modify it. :)

I am convinced that the drop rate of this item is very buggy, potentially broken. I usually get most other profession items off mobs within 10-12 kills. 2 weeks in a row, it has taken 100+ kills of treants and gnolls for this to drop.

Either they nerfed the droprate or I was REALLY unlucky this week needing like 90 kills for it to drop - normally 1-2 kills was enough

Drop rate from decaying herbs is really low now it seems.
3 and a half hours farming decaying herbs and 4 deaths later on my 400 geared alt.
I found Sqwee2000's comment about Decaying Slime. You can go to /way 12 35 Azure Span
I finally got my Decaying Phlegm. I just had to be really careful on where and how I pulled slimes.

I have terrible luck at the recommended spot for this but I have found a great place provided you're okay with taking on some elites.

腐朽長者 at /way 11.75, 36.05 Azure Span

So far these drop Decaying Phlegm for me at about twice the rate than the 腐敗樹人. I've been bringing my pally to this spot and my druid to the rotting treants and it's hands down faster (at least for me, we have to consider sheer dumb luck). The Decayed Elders also don't seem to be on farm and are therefore much easier to find.

The guaranteed way to get this to drop as of 10.1 (and before it too) is to overload a decayed herb with your herbalism's overload elemental herb ability (assuming you are both herb + alch) and the summoned NPC will always drop the phlegm - It worked for me several weeks now.

Rough overlapping WQ in Brackenhide this week.

You can go up the mountain a bit and farm 游移腐滴 at /way #2024 13.67 21.46 Brackenhide Brambles

Drop rates are no better but there's no competition and a bunch of oozes.

the wowhead article indicates that you can get more than 1 of these a week now, is this true? back in 10.0 you could only loot one of each of the knowledge drops per week (decaying phlegm and elementious splinter for alchemy)
