You can mount the rare with 乘日者的祝福 for a short time, but it is not enough, so still looking for the next step

I didn't know you needed the bastion glider so I jumped of with my demon hunter and it didn't work. I then flew towards and under the island where you get the buff from the statue and now I'm in a constant loop of logging in and instantly getting disconnected. Be warned when attempting this that there's a chance for this to happen to you as well.

Edit: by just rejoining it did nothing for over 10-15 attempts but the use of my vengeful retreat got me out. This was under the waterfall as well if someone has a spare demon hunter and would like to test this out for themselves.

Tested on live with goblin glider and it's not possible to mount Sundancer

Possible causes:
- You need 天行者滑翔翼
- You need to be max level
- There is some other requirement we yet to know about

I managed to mount Sundancer by using a Goblin Glider and the following macro:

You require two things, a buff from Ancient Memorial at 60.05 93.90
and a Skysrider Glider.

Wthout the glider you can still ride him, but he will buck you off and tell you that you're not his master, therefore both are required.

The glider is from Kyrian covenant only, but can be traded.

I am sure there a lot of people wondering where the "monument" is that evert1 is talking about. Ok, well in case any1 else is looking all over the internet and can't find information on where the "monument" that gives you the sunrider's blessing buff, its at coordinates 60 , 93 in Bastion on a little circular island in the bottom right corner of the map. The sunrider's blessing is a 30 minute buff and you get it by clicking on the ancient memorial monument (looks like a floating abstract person with wings).

You need 天行者滑翔翼 in able to get the mount. To craft the item you need to be Kyrian and upgrade your path of ascension to 3. Don't give up if you are not Kyrian because it can be traded (Not sure about this but everyone says so). I suppose crafting this item is not possible (so far) because redeemed souls can be obtained weekly. So i think we will have to wait 2-3 weeks to see this glider at AH.

If this is incorrect, please clarify.

I read the Kyrian guide on the Path of Ascension to find out more about the Skystrider Glider. It's not clearly stated so I'm assuming (and I know what that means) that any one, even someone with no crafting professions, can partake in the trials and get this pattern. The pattern doesn't appear to be linked to any crafting professions like Engineering or Tailoring and strictly comes from the boss that's defeated as part of the covenant grind.

Also, is this a one time use item? Or is it learned, like a toy and reusable?

At this time, there are no gliders on the AH. I really hope that someone on my server will do the grind to get this item crafted.

I don't know why nobody mentioned this in here before, so this looks like a "buy/craft and loot" Mount. But it is NOT!
Let me tell you two things I would have loved to know before jumping onto him:

When jumping onto him you will take damage by him. Without healing myself this would have been a fast death.

It will land with you, and you will have to fight it. It has 590k HP after landing and will beat the !@#$ out of you, so bring friends.

Those two informations are really important to mention before you lose a glider to this.

We just killed him in a 40 man group, just 1 person got the mount. We we're able to kill Sundancer another time, but nobody got the loot after this second kill

I can confirm the drop its not 100% to the person who used glider, a random player got it

UPDATE: I killed him again today (after reset) with a 40 man raid group! We got like 6 drops! Yesterday just one person got it, prob they changed the drop rate or we just got all lucky!

Killed it three times today. First group 5 mounts @ 37 people, second group 3 mounts @ 30 people, third group 1 mount @ about 20 people. That's a drop rate of about 10 % (of course with a very small sample size).

Just took it down today at 15:52 GMT. Only one group member needs to glide to it and soothe it. Mount definitely not 100% drop chance as neither people in our group got it. Dropped a 35 anima piece and a Medallion of Service for me. Also gives the <In the Hot Seat> Achievement IF you are the one to ride it.

You do not loot Sun Dancer, for me it appeared in my bags the moment the fight was over. So don't get excited in looting.

Things to note:
The glider to obtain this is one time use, Lasts 60seconds
You take damage when taming,
After taming, and challenging Sundancer, they stay spawned for ~5 minutes
The Mount is NOT 100% Drop chance, we got 35 anima
You get the achievement "In the hot seat" After taming

I just got Sundancer on my hunter - I'm a Venthyr, so I can confirm that you can get it regardless of covenant.
I duo'd it with a healer - Aslong as you dodge his only skillshot, theres no chance of you getting OS'd.
I only healed myself with exhilaration during the first phase (the phase where you ride his back), and I was left with 20k hp (meaning he dealt around 40k damage to me over the duration). Looks kindof funny when it runs/flys but I still adore it.

Today I bought from AH the Glider, took the buff from monument, went on top of the hill, jumped on the horse, used my triple barrier as a mage, Soothed several times the horse while riding him, then he carried me back on the platform. NPC was friendly, I talked to him, started a combat with him, soloed him as a mage 219il - kiting, mirror images, refreshing triple barrier. On 80k hp he stopped combat with me, went stationary and all of the sudden I got the mount + anima power.
Dunno if the mount is 100% drop rate or not... First time I seen it, first time I killed it, and I was alone there.

So blizz posted a hotfix saying that the mount wasn't dropping for "eligible players" but now is. After some testing, it seems like the eligible player is the one who uses the kyrian glider and activates Sundancer. I did that and a couple friends did it as well and everyone that activated Sundancer, got the mount. Some people in the groups also got it but not everyone. They tried getting the buff from the statue and that didn't make the drop 100% for them. So it seems that since the hotfix, this mount is 100% for the person who activates the rare and it's a random drop chance for anyone that tags it. GLHF!

You do not need the glider in order to participate in the fight with Sundancer.
Sundancer despawns about 5 minutes after you tame him, so make sure not to wait too long.

Just got this mount on my lvl 51 shaman, went directly in my bags, and i was not the one that glided and brought him down, just ina group, i tried on 4 of my other alts before it dropped on my shaman, one of which i did buy and use the glider and did not recieve it, also my shaman is Necro, so cov doesnt matter. just kill him and cross your fingers.

I just got her! I was not the puller, just a random guy in a group. I'm wondering if getting Sunrider's Blessing has anything to do with getting the drop? Lots of people didn't get the mount, but I did get the blessing before I joined the group.

Bought 2 天行者滑翔翼 from the AH (47k each) because I was dumb enough not to spam the soothe button when I was riding the Sundancer and died. The whole raid laughed at me lol.

The mount dropped for me when using the glider so it seems that the drop chance is increased for the glider raider.

This is NOT a 100% mount! I just unlocked and crafted the glider and soothed Sundancer and then killed it in a group of 5. Nobody, including myself got the mount.

Me and my friend killed this yesterday. He is a night fae and didn't summon him, I'm a Kyrian, used the blessing, bought the glider off the AH (18k on Kazzak-Eu), soothed the add. When he landed, us and couple of people (they weren't in the party) helped to kill.

I received the mount, and my friend didn't. I also received the achievment In the Hot Seat.

Screenshot for proof that it dropped on the first attempt. Judging by the hotfixes, and comments down below, whether you do this right (activate the blessing, ride it), the mount should be 100% drop chance.

Got this today on EU Silvermoon. I was the one using the glider and got the mount. The last couple of days I have been in a raid groups and the "glider user" has been getting the drop every time - so perhaps it's now a 100% drop - or at least a high chance for the "glider user" - and random drop for others.

GET IN A PARTY. He is not soloable at this point in time (unless you're super OP or... maybe a prot paladin, idk).

I wanna be very clear about this: the mount is 88-100% for someone in the party, NOT 100% for the person that made or bought the glider. Please be aware that the gold or mats you spend to make the glider and get to the point of challenging Sundancer might be all you do. I listed my group in custom and someone got the mount that was in party but didn't even get the change to tag (damn rogues pulling...).

FYI, since it's not clear with Handynotes or anything - you HAVE to fight him once he lands - and he hits like a TRUCK. I tried to solo him on my Outlaw Rogue, and it's nearly impossible to do so. You *definitely* need a group. Luckily I only wasted 19k gold on the glider, but sadly the glider is one-user. :(

Just spawned Sundancer today, 1/16. While trying to form a group, it depawned after 5 minutes. Make sure you have your group together before you bring it down!

It seems that no one is talking about this so I'm gonna give ya a heads up. If you DON'T want to take damage for a long period of time, then make sure you jump on Sundancer behind the monument that gives you the 30 minute buff. Use the glider behind the monument after he turns back, and don't forget to soothe him. I almost forgot to soothe him myself. Only had to soothe him twice from the jump spot, plus I forgot to soothe beforehand.

Remember to use Tank spec, or if you can heal yourself, if it's even possible.

Use every healing item possible for combat, if you can even do that too.

I lost my first glider dying while riding Sundancer for a few seconds as Warrior: Fury with 35k health.

EDIT: There is one thing I missed to say. I had the glider myself but I wanted to share it mith my Raid-friends, so I waited for Raidleader(a Demon Hunter) who started the group for Sundancer to ride him back to land. But DH never had the Skystrider Glider. He rode him and got kicked of Sundancer.

So after DH got kicked off I waited for Sundancer to turn back from the right side and jumped behind the monument and I brought Sundancer to land. Afterwards me and the DH got Sundancer, but I was the only one who was eligible for the mount.

What I'm trying to say is that DH might have gotten the mount too because he rode Sundancer first and got kicked off, and me coming a minute later riding Sundancer. I'm not sure if DH dropped the whole way down, or if he was able to glide back to land safely before, in time.

Anyways I'm not sure if this works, just saying.

So I got the mount today but how I got it is definitely worth the story time.

My friend had the glider to summon & made a 5 man group. I joined but was at the flight path & they were burning Sundancer & I wasn't gonna make it in time but then all of a sudden the mount pops up on my screen. I was nowhere close & didn't have the buff from the statue thingy & still got it just for being in the party.

Not at all complaining, just thought I'd share what happened. And I'm extremely grateful to the RNG God's. 🙏🏽

Pretty sure there is something still not right and their hotfix didn't fix it completely; On 1/18/21 I spent 39.5K gold on the AH, summoned the rare, received the achievement, got it down to ~50% all solo (in tank) before an alliance showed up and helped kill Sundancer. Guess who got 35 anima...me! No clue if they got the mount, though we were not in warmode, so the rare wasn't taken from me. To say I am hot is an understatement. Blizz giving me the run around, in not so many words saying "too bad, so sad". :(

Respawn was roughly 45-60 minutes after he was activated and then despawned with a no-kill. Seeing as nobody else has mentioned respawn timers, I figured I'd drop this data here and hopefully others will share their experiences so we can get an idea of how long the wait will be.

What ever you do DON'T FALL OFF the ledge near the memorial. Your character will keep falling and it will disconnect you over and over in a loop. I can't even go on that character now and have to wait for a GM to contact me to move my character. AWESOME BLIZZARD AWESOME!

日舞者 is a little tricky for hoping to the saddle and I just got it for my 2nd try and also i do it with 天行者滑翔翼. Just to make sure you get the buff and for those who got the glider will always get the mount even sometimes other player could get it to without glider or hoping the horse's saddle. As a word of caution, if you do everything correctly (and likely acquire the achievement "In the hot seat") Sundancer will no longer be a rare elite (just a regular elite) and you will not be able to ride the mount (and summon it). 7 attempts (with buff, with the right glider, with having not already killed'em that day/week), 0 successful rides (approached from every possible angle but under, hella close proximity everytime), leads me to the conclusion that once you ride, that's it fo' life. And if you don't get the drop (*tear*), you'll have to return with some other rider.

EDIT: I may be wrong, here. There may have been something else at work (like not being in a raid group?) that prevented me from getting the "enter vehicle" cursor-change. Regardless, if Sundancer isn't a Rare Elite, don't try it.

Tip for hunters.

Let your pet tank, keep your pet on Sundancer at all times.
Position yourself at max range from Sundancer during the fight.
When Sundancer casts Judge Penitence(debuff), go out of range, that way this nasty debuff will not hit you and you can solo it.

First of all, there is no guaranteed mount drop, u have to fight a +500k lvl 62 mob, u get the achievment and most likely u'll just get 35 anima.
Just did it on my tank, first u need to craft or buy the Skystrider Glider, those are available on the AH, next u need the blessing from the shrine " sunrider's blessing" the shrine is located on the south tip of Bastion. Go to the Sundancer location, use the Glider and move yourself close enough to Sundancer , sooth him untill he brings u to the shrine. Your health will drop a bit, but it shouldn't be an issue. Once landed u can speak to him and engage. Good luck, but in my opinion its not worth the effort, gold or time u put in this encounter.

There is one key component that I have not seen discussed about the guaranteed acquisition of this mount, so I'm sharing it here.

Blizzard has confirmed via its Support site that you must be under the effect of 卓雷薩勒斯的迴響 when you defeat Sundancer, which lasts 5 minutes.

It is triggered by using 天行者滑翔翼 while under the effects of 乘日者的祝福. This buff is invisible, and it begins when you are transformed into the 卓雷薩勒斯的迴響 model while using the glider.

If you do not kill Sundancer before this 5 minute timer is up, you will not get a guaranteed drop. It took me several tickets to be directed to this information, and is a key missing component from every guide I've seen.

EDIT - For more clarity: by "invisible," I mean that the buff is not shown on your character. The brief transformation into the Kyrian model is the signal that everything worked and the buff/timer has initiated. The buff only applies to someone who has both used the glider and mounted Sundancer. Sundancer has to die before this buff/timer runs out.

Can confirm you need to use the statue @ 60,0, 94,0 !
you also need the sunstrider glider (bought mine from AH for about 2.5k gold)
had to buy 2 because i %^&*ed up the first try, dont use it near the statue ! you need to go higher up the on the left mountain and wait for him to patrol below you than you jump off the cliff use the item and glide towards it !

after your mounted you mash the extra ability as much you can (i used 1 selfheal and a decrease dmg taken spell as a hunter while mounted)

after that he will ride you to the same platform as the statue was located !
from there on i tank and spanked it as a MM hunter with my pet out.
used feign death every x he tried to dot me up with that nasty dot, used turtle also to prevent it when FD was on CD.

for the rest i popped hero at start and tranq shotted him since HE GOES ENRAGE ! he will hit like a truck when enraged.

got the mount first try so cant say if 100%, i can say i was ALONE so maybe its 100% for 1 player who tagged it.

Dropinfo: Got the buff, had the correct glider - found Sundancer. Got him to the fighting spot. Made a group to kill him. I did not get the mount, but two others in group got it. One that just joined and who was far away as we killed it, so he didn't have a buff or did not even engage it...he just got the mount for being in our group!

So that you can learn from my Idiocy,
These are the best cords to jump from imo around 60.89 underneath the tree on the ledge across the water. I got stressed out trying to re-find my spot after a few failures.
Eat some Seraph Tenders. Jump when he's heading down toward the buff/landing area not up. Buy a few extra gliders, just in case. Have 2 people at least to help you fight after you have successfully completed your "flight" and for ...THE LOVE OF GOD HIT SOOTHE, HIT SOOTHE, HIT SOOTHE, HIT SOOTHE.
I sadly didn't realize this and wasted SEVERAL gliders and the lovely price of 14k error. I thought I was just supposed to heal through it and was so flustered I never noticed the action button, thought it was a dismount vehicle button and was so busy trying to heal..... so as a recap.

RULE #1 GET THE SUNRIDER'S BLESSING BUFF FROM THE SHRINE
RULE #2 EAT SERAPH TENDERS
RULE #3 MARK THE SPOT ON THE MAP WHERE YOUR JUMPING FROM /WAY
RULE #4 HIT SOOTHE HIT SOOTHE HIT SOOTHE (SPAM IT)
RULE #5 HEAL YOURSELF IF YOUR HEALTH IS GETTING LOW
RULE #6 Let the person who took the flight talk to Sundancer to start the fight after they land and the rider is pretty much guaranteed 100% to get the mount
RULE#7 YOU HAVE 5MINUTES TO DEFEAT SUNDANCER or you are NOT guaranteed the mount, it can also de-spawn

Everyone else in a party has a chance but not 100%
Note* Others have said that using a glider while having sunrider's blessing will also guarantee the mount even if you were not the rider

The Skystrider Glider is a ONE USE ONLY item. It says it has a cooldown, but if you fail the first time, it is GONE. Make sure you go up to the highest point so you can glide down to him, because if you're not above him, you can't reach him even with the glider. Recommend you watch some of the available videos before trying this, and it will be easier to fight him at the end with a group.

Downed him last night (Mar. 15) for the first time with a warlock friend. I used the glider. I was playing my paladin and tanked him, but the lock's VW helped to soak some of the damage. That being said, it's not a hard fight at all IMO. We had him dead within the much-discussed 5 minute window, and I did receive the mount.

Downed him again earlier tonight (Mar. 16), but this time the warlock used the glider, and we had him dead again within the 5 minute window. The lock received the mount.

So to recap, we both received the mount on our first time using the glider, and we did have him dead within the 5 minute window.

As noone mentioned - today my husband managed to mount him, we killed him, and I wanted to attempt the achiev - he became an elite, thus not mountable. I learned it the hard way while glinding to him. Has a daily reset and he HAS to be a rare for you, if you want to mount him. Glider to hell.

I got the mount 2nd try. Ironically I did not even hit or ride Sundancer. We were in a group of 5, I got my buff from the statue and went up the mountain in order to glide towards him. I messed up and ran up again. In the meantime someone (not my group) successfully brought him down and started the fight so my mates went in fight as well. Mount dropped straight into my inventory while running back down the hill and although not having tagged the rare myself.
It dropped for me and another guy in my group.

Some potentially useful information:

1) You do NOT need to be level 60. I got it on a level 52 monk alt
2) You do NOT need to be Kyrian. My monk alt is a Necrolord.
3) Multiple people can get the mount at the same time. Two people in my group of three, including myself, got the mount
4) I do not think that you need any special buffs unless you are trying to get on the horse initially or starting the fight. I did not have any special buffs on myself, but I think the people that started the fight did

So I first tried doing Sundancer solo on my retri paladin, I got destroyed. 1000 gold wasted but well learned from there.

Tried again on my unholy dk, and this time made a group, I think there was 7 of us. I had the glider, had the buff and soothed Sundancer, fight went nice and smooth and me and another person got the mount.

Keep in mind that you don't just have to go through the hassle of crafting/buying the (expensive) glider and mounting him, but you have to kill him, and he's a level 62 rare with over 500k hp, so unless you're epically geared and not a squishy class, I wouldn't try to solo.

I didn't know you had to kill it at first. I missed it with the first glider (they costed like 8.5k on AH, so I was kind of annoyed, especially since I had to go back and buy another). Then when I got it, that's when I realized you had to then talk to it and challenge it, and it was hard to kill.

Another thing - whoever glides to get it and tames it properly (you have to spam the button to tame it before you die) gets an achievement. I don't know if it's a group achievement, but I doubt it, because the second time I did it with a group, I didn't see it pop up for my teammates.

Also, from what I've read here, the mount is about a 1/3 drop chance. Me and one other guy in the group got it. We got lucky.

After doing this with a group of my guildmates, I got the drop (as the glider user) and one other person in group got the drop. So it is possible for people in a group to get it, I just don't know the drop chance as both I and this guildmate killed Sundancer in a group once and only got anima.

Something that will make this ordeal magnitudes easier for you is (if one doesn't have one already) have a keyboard key assigned to 'Interact With Target' (found near the bottom of the list in 'Key Bindings' > 'Targeting').

This way, while one is falling/floating, steering, and aiming to get close to the NPC with one hand on their mouse, all one has to do is - with one's other hand - is spam their bound key (rather than having to time that pivotal right-click when they're ever-so-briefly in the sweet-spot to do so).

Once on the NPC's back, be sure to spam the bonus button that shows up -- no worries about timing or its cooldown, just spam it to be safe. (Though I'm sure that there's a more appropriate timing for this step, who cares if button mashing does the trick!)

Additionally: I suggest having a small group already formed after one gets the Sunstrider's Blessing buff from the monument (at 60:94), and before they take the leap of faith at the spot higher up the cliff to the north (≈61:82). This plays into the five minute 'invisible' buff which ensures the person that does all the clicking, mounting-in-air, and soothing (button mashing explained above) has a 100% chance at getting the mount so that there's plenty enough time and firepower to fight - and win - the NPC battle once one lands and talks to Sunstrider after the whole mounting-in-air part concludes.

I noticed, that it was droped only to the leader of the group with the glider. But my theory was crushed yesterday, because it didn't fall to ANYONE in a group of 12 people.

I have a theory about getting hiding buff and 100% chance for mount. You dont need to do mounting, just find group for rare, take buff from statue, jump and use glider when you start fighting and kill rare. And if you wanna do it solo and not sure about 5 min window - buy 2 gliders (it has 5 min cd) and if it came off cd before you end the fight - jump and use another. Not sure about two gliders but it may work too.

I solo'd this today as a ilvl 221 MM hunter with a Tenacity pet. I don't have the feign death leggo so I just ate every other Judgement or whatever it's called. It was close, but I ended the fight with about 7k health and got the mount! I'm still not sure on the drop rate, but I'll add to the voices that say if you have the blessing, the special glider, and you kill within 5 min it seems to be 100%.

Respawn time is also not obvious, but I can say I waited about 47 min.

I just got this as a 200ilvl BM hunter with a Ferocity pet. Night Fae boi.

You'll need

I bought 天行者滑翔翼 from the AH for around 1k gold. After that I went and grabbed 乘日者的祝福 from the Ancient Memorial at 60.04, 93.99. Finally, I then headed around and up the hill to 60.96, 81.39.I waited for 日舞者 to make it to the end of his pathing. When he started to make his turn around, I jumped from the top of the cliff and immediately used 天行者滑翔翼. Once you're on 日舞者, just spam the special action button until it disappears. He'll then start routing to the Ancient Memorial . Once there, he kicks you off and you'll be able to talk to 日舞者 to start the fight.

The fight is quite simple. Make sure that during the fight you're; 40+ yards away from 日舞者 to outrange 近身灼燒 and 審判懺罪, keeping Mend Pet on Cooldown, and using Tranquilizing Shot every time 太陽之怒 goes out. EZPZ took a little over 3 minutes to down him.

Fun Fact: You can defiantly make it to and mount 日舞者 without the use of 天行者滑翔翼 but he'll kick you off after a moment of riding. Apparently the glider gives you an invisible buff and without that you cannot get 日舞者 on the ground. GL

EDIT - For more clarity: by "invisible," I mean that the buff is not shown on your character. The brief transformation into the Kyrian model is the signal that everything worked and the buff/timer has initiated. The buff only applies to someone who has both used the glider ~~and mounted Sundancer~~. Sundancer has to die before this buff/timer runs out.

We were four in our group. 1 rode Sundancer, 2 used the feather to get the second buff. All 3 (the ones who had used the feather) got the mount in one kill.

I was lucky enough to receive this mount, however BLIZZARD I am a little disappointed with it, once received it is actually a little plain.
as it is a SUNDANCER, I was hoping it would have the sunny sparkle to it and and the sun beams that the original that was killed to receive this mount. How about doing a little touch up to this mount and making is spectacular and live up to its name.

So regardless if you ride it, or just waiting atop the hill EVERYONE should use the glider when it lands. Just visit AH prior to joining any group and use the glider no matter what

Finally after so many tries, I've gotten this mount! Buying it for 47K left me with 33G (yes, 33) left over but it was so well worth it for her...

Of course, the AH price for the Kyrian glider on my server was LUDICROUS - averaging between 35K-70K gold a piece, so for a new player like me it's nothing to sneeze at. I'd join every group I could for Sundancer daily even without the glider, as the miniscule chance was better than no chance, but today fate had it in for me as the price was JUST below what I had in my pockets... so I grabbed it and ran to Bastion, fast as I could, and SHE WAS THERE! A shoutout and thank you to the lovely group of 4 from LFG that helped me with the fight too <3

Over my I think ~14 total attempts, I tried burning a glider on a lower level alt (where the AH price for the Glider was cheaper) in groups while she was ridden down, wasted a glider on main alongside a group that tagged her because the person who pulled her I think perished during the ride down - and then I had about 12 days where I would just take a chance and join an LFG with the statue buff and hope for that miniscule chance. Today that streak was over! :D

So glad I can finally call Sundancer my own ;w;

Finally after several failed attempts this mount is now mine and as stated you do need both buffs to have the best chance to get it. Before when I only had the shrine buff and killed it I got nothing special then discovered a way to get both even being not the rider which gives you second buff.

Make sure you have a glider maybe two one for practice run, put the glider on the bars for easier clicking, then head to where Sundancer spawns when before the shrine fly up to the top of one of the pillars.

May be long wait what I did was search for groups that had it up took me several hours doing so but worth it.

Once you find a group join and stay on top of pillar wait for them to bring it to you.

When Sundancer lands walk to edge of pillar just as you are about to fall off hit the glider, which is why may need practice run to determine right time, you should get first buff will see yourself as a Kyrian gliding down once on ground run to shrine get second buff.

With both buffs proceed to kill Sundancer and when it dies the mount will be in your bags.

Congratulations you now have the mount and yes this does work it is how I got it just tonight.

FWIW, I just got Sundancer today without the statue buff. A group had just started attacking Sundancer when I showed up - I hopped into the air to use the glider, hit the mob, and got the mount. So it definitely is possible to get the mount with just one buff - however I may have just been lucky.

I just came back from a break and remembered that this was not available when I was exploring Bastion the first few weeks so what I did:

1.Got the buff from /way 60,0, 94,0 Sunrider's Blessing Buff
2.Sat on a cliff nearby and used 天行者滑翔翼
3.Clicked like crazy on the mount and on the big middle button after I hopped on to tame him
4.Accepted the challenge after we landed

With the help of another warrior that was nearby, I was lucky to down him and first try, I got the mount.

GL to everyone who farms it, I think it takes a total of 10 tries at most before you get it given the droprate.

I have tried to camp him in a few ways for a while before getting this mount. From my own experience, I think there is a reasonably efficient way that I should share:

Part I: Be prepared

For each level-capped character, have at least one 天行者滑翔翼 ready in bag. You can buy it from the AH or craft it yourself via Kyrian's Ascension Crafting.
For each level-capped character, have the tank or healer specs setup and ready. The Sundancer "hits" pretty hard when you are riding him, so at level 60, minimally you need some healing potions.
For idling characters, log off at the 60,94 shrine in Bastion, so when you server hop, you can readily get the 乘日者的祝福 buff from the shrine.

Part II: Camping for the Sundancer

The routing is simple. Get the 乘日者的祝福 buff from the Ancient Memorial at the shrine in Bastion 60,94. The buff looks like a golden orb circling around you. Each buff lasts 30 minutes.
Then fly north, following the shoreline towards the Temple of Purity at 61,80, and look for the Sundancer.
The Sundancer appears as a rare elite star on your map, and as a shiny golden flying horse in person.
You can camp around 61,80 while queuing for BGs, arenas, LFRs, and random heroics.
You can also server hop every now and then, because he appears to spawn on different timers on different realms.

Part III: When you see the Sundancer having spawned

List a group looking for more people on Premade Groups -> Custom: Sundancer up.
Let people know in the Bastion - General chat channel that the Sundancer is up and will be landing at 60,94.
Get on your flying mount, fly in, position yourself vertically above the Sundancer, dismount, use 天行者滑翔翼, and spam right-clicks on the Sundancer.
Once you are on the Sundancer, spam left-clicks on the extra action button (Soothe), and use defensive cooldowns and self-healing to stay alive.
After being tamed by you, the Sundancer will take you to the shrine at 60,94.
Speak to the Sundancer, and challenge him within ~5 minutes. If you don't have enough people nearby, you may still have to just challenge him and start the fight in 3~4 minutes. Otherwise he will walk away and disappear in ~5 minutes.
It's about ~10% chance of getting the mount, per character per day.

I have made many mistakes, such as forgetting about the 乘日者的祝福 buff, forgetting to use 天行者滑翔翼 before getting on the Sundancer's back, waiting for too long when Sundancer is at the shrine (because I couldn't assemble a group big enough), etc. So I complied the above.

You can also lazy-camp him at the 60,94 shrine in Bastion. This only works if there are many people nearby. You need at least ~10k DPS as a group to win the challenge and have a chance for the mount to drop. Just don't forget the 乘日者的祝福 buff.

I just got it. I was by myself. As a druid getting on him was pretty easy, just fly over him and use the glider. Once I landed, I realized I had to fight him, and he had over 600k hp. I was not in a group, luckily some random people who were around helped me. I got the mount and they did too.

My friend from Doomhammer was able to mount Sundancer and my husband and I (we were both from Uther) but in group w/ our Doomhammer friend, were waiting at the Shrine. After the entire RP + fight, Sundancer rewarded all 3 of us with the mount! This after 12 feathers for me because I totally am so bad with the whole dropping the angel thing!

Was able to solo with item level 217 as a BM hunter comfortably, kept my distance to avoid Searing Proximity and Judge Penitence. The rest was keeping up mend pet rinse and repeat then received Sundancer. It took me a couple of times to get the fight figured out beforehand but it's not too difficult with a ranged DPS and a pet. Anyone with low gear/item lvl I would look for a group, Sundancer can hit like a truck.

I would like to add that I was camping Sundancer at the Ancient Memorial. After about 40 min or so I felt the area I was standing at turning "golden", almost like afternoon sun. I thought it might have something to do with the mount so I flew along the path of where Sundancer flies. And it was there. I don't have the slightest clue if these two events are related or if the area turning a bit golden just had to do with the weather changing but if you are camping it I would highly suggest flying along Sundancers flight path to check if it's up if you feel the area turning a bit golden.

I'm going to restate this guide, just to keep it up to date.

First, get at least one 天行者滑翔翼, you need it. You can either buy this in the AH or craft it yourself using Ascendant crafting (that you get by being Bastion covenant and Path of Ascension (level 3)). To be able to craft this you have to have beat 卡莉賽恩 in Wisdom level (again Path of Ascension) which will award you a 藍圖：天行者滑翔翼 and you can then go to 達提莉絲 to get him to craft the glider for you.
Your next step, of course, is seeing that 日舞者 is up. She will be doing a patrol.
Then you need to go to 遠古紀念碑 and once you interact with it you will get a 30 minute buff 乘日者的祝福
Then you want to fly to whereever the horse is at, you don't want to wait too long because she can despawn. Now here comes the tricky part, you can't mount her while you're flying. So you have to get above her, dismount and then use the 天行者滑翔翼 and then mount her (you may have to do a little bit of flying with Glider)
Once you mount her, spam the Soothe button that appears. I did not receive any damage at this point like others have said, so maybe this changed.
Once you've soothed her enough the button will disappear and she will ride off to by where the Memorial is where you got the 30 minute buff and you will be dismounted.
Then you will have to talk to her and it will indicate a fight is about to commence. I was able to easily solo on a hunter as long as I stayed far enough away and used my tank pet correctly. Of course your results will vary based on your class, dispel any buffs she gets if you can.
Once you get her to 10% the fight stops and the mount ends up in your bags. Sadly it doesn't look near as cool as the NPC did while flying solo.

So things have changed in a lot of the notes you see here. Mainly no damage while riding her and you require the Glider to mount. And of course we can fly now, though it just helps a bit it can't replace the glider.

SUNDANCER wont show up some dayz for unknows reason, DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME, its max swpn timer is 1 1:15 hour so if u didnt findit, go and back tomarrow or 12 hour later

After getting the monument buff, jumping off, activating the glider, and missing Sundancer (I know, I know), I repeatedly disconnected while falling. Not sure if this is a bug but I was unable to log in as the game disconnected immediately. I had to use character move service to resolve, which is on an 8-hour cooldown. Submitted a bug report.

I am on alliance. After trying a few days, today I logged in and she was just standing there in front of the altar. Confused - but I grabbed the altar buff, jumped up to use my glider and get the glider buff, and got her down to 10% and got the mount. A minute later I got a tell, apparently someone on the horde side had brought her down and died trying to solo her. Lessons learned, if you die, you lose the buff and the mount does not drop. But if she is pulled by the other faction you can still get the mount.

Had no luck with Sundancer today, will try again after reset. It's really not 100% drop.

First try I got the buff, used the glider, and I think I beat it in 5 minutes - but no mount (I thought maybe I needed more more than 5 minutes and then the chance dropped but no idea? The chat said fight was 4 minutes long)
Tried another character to kill it faster - got the buff from statue and glider again - but no mount
Then I got impatient because everyone said it would drop 100% and tried on my first character again, used glider and couldn't mount it, so it's really once per character per day...

UPDATE: Ok, I got it in my 3rd try. This time I made sure that I really have the glider buff, I had 10 secs left on the timer when the fight ended otherwise I would have clicked the glider again for a new buff, some wrote they did that and got the mount.

I got it extremely easily, but it looks so bad that I don't think I'll be using it after all.

It is the scrawny kind of horse build, where the rear looks more like a goat than a horse, and the way it moves is also quite weird. Also, for some reason they decided to add these reigns on it once you tame it, which look quite bad.

So, if anyone here has had no luck so far, you may not be missing out on much.

Just got it on the Kazzak server. I did this as a 247 DH, so i would die every time I missed with the feather.
It took me 4 tries with the feather before I managed to mount it.
Soothed it and started the fight when I landed. Died the first time. Picked up the buff again, and attacked. This time I survived and managed to get the Mount.
I got it at around 13-15% HP on Sundancer. It just popped into my bags on my first try.

I literally just checked how to get this mount because I was curious if you need the feather or if you can just fly to it. I mean you can mount it but it bucks you off unless u landed on him with the buff and wings. Trust me I tried and had to wait for the cooldown for the feather because i used glider to save myself from falling to my death. I failed my first wings attempt. Had to wait cooldown for the wings again. Succeeded on 2nd try and I fought it with ilvl 257 hunter. It gave me the mount and 2x 35 anima items. If I understood correctly it is not 100% chance for the mount? I guess I was lucky for once.

Even though I can fly in Shadowlands, I figured I didn't need a glider... oh how wrong I was. "Sundancer see that you are not its master and bucks you off violently" (And yes I thought I had to break it... but that wasn't the case I caught on at the 4th attempt of hmm something is wrong so I googled it)

You still need the Skystrider Glider and The blessing from the shrine which is located at 60.0, 94.0 Find a high cliff or if you can dismount early to glide on top of it and "Catch" it but the method I tried was just jumping off a cliff and angling my character to it and moving side to side it work and mounted it with the soothe on the extra action button... so after reading all these comments saying it doesn't drop on the first attempt or etc. I must be lucky and got it on my first attempt -shrugs-

I believe I saw, written in a few comments here, that sundancer will despawn if not interacted with after some time. I have evidence to the contrary:

This means that the longer it's been since Shadowlands, the more likely this NPC will be up, should you look.
It also means that waiting until 3AM and going Warmode On is a valid strat, as well as using an RP server toon if your realm cluster is particularly populous.
As you've probably seen in other comments, keep in mind that Sundancer is picky about the days it'll spawn, so if you don't see it up, check again tomorrow :)

If you are having problems even after using the glider – you basically have to use it to glide onto Sundancer (you can't use it on the ground or in the air then land on the ground or it doesn't count). You also can't use it when you're already on him because it says you're on the ground. Basically, get the buff from the shrine and then use the glider above him then land on him with right clicking.

Something else to know is that dragonriding makes this really difficult – use a traditional mount to get above him to glide onto him.

To hell with this goddamn mount. Just ignore it. It's bugged to all hells. First you wait for hours so it can spawn. Then it despawn after a few seconds when you sight it. And finally if you try to jump at the bastard quick enough the button doesn't work even when it gets green while flying through him. Watching paint dry would be a better way to use your time.

I heard about this mount today, saw that it went well with my current transmog. I bought a Skystrider Glider and headed to Bastion. I snagged the buff and headed to where the mount spawned. The mob was up... used the glider, mounted it, fought it, and got the mount on my first try. Nothing seemed buggy about the process to me so don't let other comments discourage you.

Now that my adventures of trying to obtain this mount has come to a close, a few tips I would like to mention: Don't be like me and just pass by WITHOUT the buff already on, and if you mess up on one character, you CANNOT redo it the same day on the same character even if you have everything, it simply will not let you mount it.

Here's a trick you should try: Switch your Warmode to the opposite and check for spawn again
I've waited for 2 hours in the alt-tab, but no luck. I found this trick here in the comment threads and it worked for me

Also don't forget that you should "challenge" the Sundancer after you land (otherwise you'll end only with achievement, but not a mount!)

Sundancer was up, got the buff, got the glider, got on a mount above her, dismounted, used glider, clicked her many times, ended in a ditch. Got glider again, still same - again and again. Wasted about 5k buyng the gliders. What am I missing or doing wrong here? Also whenever I click on her, she "whinnies joyfully in greeting" and no longer allows to click on her. After a while she "grows irritated and bucks violently" and then the green arrow cursor is back.

You need to get the buff (and buff has to be active) effect of Echo of Dresaelus. Then u need to craft or purchase on ah Skystrider Glider. use the Skystrider Glider. Fly / glide to Sundance mount and 'comfort it' it will take u back to the place where u get the first buff Echo of Dresaelus.

Then challenge Sundance. If u defeat it the mount is added
