I had to look up to see what it was good for after skinning a grizzly in Felwood. It was white, so I knew it had some use somewhere! The grind isn't bad, in only that it stills nets xp for the kill, plus its a quest kill so double bonus, triple if the leather is skinned.
Is it worth it to skin for it just to make the pieces? will they sell on AH?

The new bears in the blasted lands forest seem to have quite a high drop rate on these now, Doing the quest that involves them i ended up with about 11 of the items from about 14-16 bears.

So if you are looking to farm some of this kind of leather i recomend doing The blasted land bears.

The tainted black bears in southwestern Blasted lands do have a >50 % drop rate by skinning - higher than I ever got from farming this leather in e.g. Winterspring.

Just farmed a few of these.

SW portion of Blasted Lands these bears do skin warbear leather.

Drop rate is nowhere near what past comments say... nerfed.

I can confirm yes these did and still do skin from Bears in both Winterspring and Blasted Lands. From my data, Blasted Lands bears seem to skin it more often. I'm there right now getting Rugged Leather. I've killed 8 bears, I have 4 Warbear Leather.

Doing more testing, it does seem the bears skin this pretty much at random. After my original post, I killed ~20 bears and only got one more Warbear Leather. I still say the best place to find this is off Blasted Lands bears in the Tainted Forest, but it could take some time to get enough leather for at least one of the LW items.

I found Rabid Shardtooths drop these more often than the ones in Blasted Lands (although Wowhead mentions equal 20% chance): 55 skins and 18 Warbear Leather. Probably they were just my lucky bears :)

As of January 2012, I spent less than an hour in Blasted Lands on the tainted bears: 12 war bear leather already.

Thanks for the great advice. I tried out Blasted Lands on bears in Tainted forest and I got a 50% drop rate, it also helped to be in a guild with Bountiful Bags. There was a time or two I got one drop, but then 2 extra added because of Bountiful Bags. In less than 1/2 hour I had the 14 I needed for the Warbear Woolies. I didn't bother with the Warbear Harness as you can make the Barbaric Harness which looks identical (for transmog anyhow). Though I may opt for using Vest of Sobbing instead, which I like the look of better.

I also recommend keeping the Bear Flank that drops as it is used to level cooking at a point when you don't have too many choices on what to level cooking with, so it may sell well, depending on the server I guess.

Just ground the Tainted Black Bears in Blasted Lands for this leather, took about 25mins or so.

South of Frostwhisper Gorge, Winterspring, shardtooth bears appear in a U bend along the border with Darkwhisper Gorde, Mount Hyjal.

20 or so bears here. Take 10 min to farm these starting one end, and they will be respawning the other.

3-6 warbear per pass, so 40 min or so to get your warbear transmog gear for the AH.

Darkwhisper is phased, so use a pet or low lvl attack to draw those out that are in, or u loose the game.

Spent approximately 20 minutes in the Tainted Forest, Blasted Lands. Within this time I looted:

40 Rugged Leather
15 Warbear Leather
6 Rugged Hide

The Tainted Black Bears respawn incredibly fast, as soon as you clear them out theY immediately pop up again. I definitely recommend this area, especially since you can port right to the zone via Blasted Lands portals.

If you're looking for 被感染的黑熊 in Blasted Lands now, they are gone for the moment due to the phasing that came with the Iron Horde Invasion. You can turn this phasing on and off by talking to 茲多米 at the road that leads into the Blasted Lands from Swamp of Sorrows in the very North. (coords 48.2/7.3)

After talking to her you will get a buff called 穿越時空 and tadaaa - Iron Horde gone, bears back again. :)(##RESPBREAK##)524##DELIM##thaia##DELIM##

After reading all the comments I can confirm that these indeed drop from the Tainted Bears around Blasted Lands

Make sure to speak to Zidormi at around 47.9 , 5.7 to turn the blasted lands back to the past, otherwise there won't be any bears there.

Also the bears are at approximately 37, 61.1

today it seemed on my druid that they literally skinned 2-3 back to back then there would be the exact number of no drops and this pattern continued the whole time i was there getting my 14 to make the Warbear Woolies

Patch 6.2.2 - Sept. 3, 2015 My results were: Blasted Lands with Tainted Black Bears, took me 45 minutes to get 12 Warbear Leather. I went to Winterspring and tried the Rabid Shardtooth - Took me just over 20 minutes to get another 12. My vote is Winterspring.

While farming these, be sure to use 追蹤者點心 unless you have a class-specific tracking skill. I found myself missing a lot of bears each time I went through and I spent a lot more time visually looking for bears that I needed. With the snacks I was able to be much more efficient.

Farmed these on a 55 Rogue with 305 skinning at The Tainted Scar 41,50 - Tainted Black Bear

Seemed to increase chance as my skinning leveled.
Did out run re-spawn but not by much, very little waiting at this level.

After about 2 hours, I farmed 14 Warbear Leather for the Warbear Woolies.
(I farmed in Winterspring killing the white and brown bears)

It took 212 kills so about a 6.6% drop rate. In total, I got
129 Thick Leather
64 Rugged Leather
5 Thick Hide
14 Warbear Leather

If you are looking purely for warbear leather, with mobs close together and rapid respawn rate, the 被感染的黑熊 in the Blasted Lands are the best choice. They spawn very quickly and are relatively compact. To get in phase with them, talk to 茲多米. This link shows her location.

If you want warbear leather and also the chance at good greens dropping, I would recommend the 裂齒暴熊s and 瘋狂的裂齒熊. The former respawns incredibly fast, and the latter respawns slower but have great loot tables.

So, choose Blasted Lands for speed, or Winterspring for chances at better loot.

I found rapid shardtooth bears located south of winterspring has the best drop rate for warbear leather. I got about 5 with about 10 mins of farming now iam now sure if that was just amazing luck or they really do have the best drop rate but either way you have a good chance to get the glorious legplates from them that can go for a pretty penny in the AH.

Tried Blasted Lands bears first and saw another player so I figured I'd try Winterspring. No one was at that location and took about 60 kills to get my 14 needed for the Woolies. Not a bad drop rate and there was no competition. Only drawback was bears took a minute or two to spawn again, and they are spread out all over the mountain. If you are using this location make sure to check along the hillside near Mt. Hyjal as well, there were a ton on the non-snowy area.

You can get these even if your skinning isn't leveled past the 300 range. I got some around 70.

I've noticed a lot of people saying the drop rate is far lower than what it says here on Wowhead. However, I just farmed 26 leathers for the harness and woolies and thought I'd post some data. I was killing the tainted blackbears in the Blasted Lands.

After 109 kills, I received:

-26 Warbear Leather
-80 Rugged Leather
-3 Rugged Hide

This puts the droprate at around 24% from my experience, however that's most likely a bit on the high side since I only killed 109. One tip I have to make things easier is to make a simple macro - /tar tainted black bear -. With this on and Azeroth flying, you can simply fly around the zone where they spawn and spam the macro and it will automatically target one for you if it's in range. And seeing as you will be skinning them, the macro won't pick up any corpses.

I tried Winterspring first, skinning the Rabid Shardtooths and only got 6 warbear leather after 58 kills. I got fed up and tried the Tainted Black Bears in old Blasted Lands, way better. I got 8 warbear leather in 32 kills. Plus SW and Org have a free port to Blasted Lands so I highly recommend doing your farming there.

When I was farming for the 戰熊皮 I saw that many people recommended to farm the 被感染的黑熊 in Blasted lands, I went there and I managed a small sum of 6 Hides for all my trouble of running around smacking them and getting mostly rugged leather. I ran a loop to kill all of the bears there about 4 or 5 times before I saw someone doing the same (Lower level, doing the Questing) so I decided to leave so they wouldn't have to deal with me killing their quest mobs.

I looked through the comments and saw a suggestion of farming the 瘋狂的裂齒熊 in Winterspring so I figured why not I'll go there. And it went FAR better than the Tainted Black Bears did. I started with 6 Warbear Leathers, ended with 23 in the 3 passes that I made over the area.

I started again today and decided to see how many bears there were that I killed. I counted a total of 27 bears if you are lucky and don't kill the one on the boarders of Hyjal/Winterspring which phases if you kill it on Hyjal's side. I did 3 passes and killed every bear and I ended up with a total of

140 硬甲皮
30 戰熊皮
and 9 硬甲毛皮
You also get a fair sum of 熊腰肉's so if you're also leveling cooking this is a nice little bonus.

I'm going to be farming these guys for any Warbear Leather that I need in the future because there are far more and you do not have to worry about any potential questers needing to kill your targets :) Happy hunting everyone!

Confirming Winterspring - Frostwhisper Gorge area as a good spot to farm off Rabid Shardtooths.

As suggested by Swatcher, I made the circuit through the crescent-shaped spawn area to the east, south, and west portions of the gorge, then down through the gorge killing 冰霜化身s. After 45 minutes (not including trash) I got:

硬甲皮 x 109

硬甲毛皮 x 3

I spent a few hours farming Wintergrasp and ended with 300 runecloth, 100 or so other cloth, 300 rugged leather, BUT ZERO warbear leather. None of those bears seem to be yielding warbear leather as of Feb 2018. At least I went from zero to exalted with the Timbermaw. I will try the blasted lands in a week or so.

Today I farmed 26 of these items that I needed for some transmog crafting. I wen to 冬泉谷 and farmed 瘋狂的裂齒熊. I spent like 1 hour aprox 150 bears. and this is what I got with skinning (totaly different from loot % info):

I killed 62 of the Rabid Shardtooth for 16 of the Warbear Leather. So that's around 25% I think.

While Rabid Shardtooth has the better drop rate, there were also several 120s farming that spot when I went there on my midpop server with a lower spawn rate. I found Shardtooth Mauler to be the better option as there were a billion mobs and no competition. I was able to get my 26 warbear leathers in under an hour at that spot. Less even, cause I wasted some time trying to farm the Rabid Shartooths.
