These containers drop like any other boon from random mobs in legion. I received one from a Feltotem Warmonger in Highmountain today (on live).

EDIT3: Drop rate is around 1 per hour, though there are exceptions (see comments below).
EDIT4: I can also confirm it is possible to get (2) of these at once. I killed a pack of young bloodgazers and picked up two from that loot. So, it can happen! It is uncommon to get more than 1 per hour though.

Note this is for ENGINEERS ONLY.

To have a chance to loot this item, you must have Boon of the Builder applied to your shoulders. When 7.1.5 went live today, Hobart Grapplehammer - the main engineering supplies guy in the Dalaran engineer shop - offered a "hi here you go" quest that gave me one of these. He also had the boon for sale to be applied to later gear. I believe it costs 120 gold.

These can contain Hardened Felglass at a ~~not-very-grand~~ (it got upped to) 100% drop rate, as well as crafting reagents such as sniping scope and randoms like pump action bandage gun. Most usefully, they can contain the schematics for the i880 Skullblaster goggles.

I assume you must be reasonably far along the engineering questline as well but I am not certain of exactly where this becomes visible.

So far, the BEST place to get these to drop for me has been Shield's Rest island (NE Stormheim) from any elites there.

Why do i know this? because that's also the best place to farm the Brawler's invite.
I got 8 containers in a very short while and have 2 recipies: plate and mail.

I just got one and inside of it was Schematic: Rugged Skullblasters, 880 Leather Goggles. Being a warrior I need the plate, so hoping this drops pretty often.

I just got my 6th Felglass. It has taken me several hrs of game play in the last couple of days, but my goggles are made, and with the correct stats for my spec and class. (BM Hunter). I got really lucky!

Anyway, as this is not a bop item, any felglass i get in the future I plan to put on the AH. So, if you are on my realm Kul-Tiras/Bladefist, and you are trying to farm these items for the goggles. I will be posting at a reasonable price. :)

There are two best places to farm these, in my opinion:

1. Falcosaur Swarms (Okay, that's technically four,but keep an eye on the world map for them to get the world quest done with it. There are a ton of 'saurs to grind down.)

2. Azuna Lion Seals - an island off the west coast of Asuna has lion seals. Lots of them. An almost comically absurd number of lion seals. Seriously, if anyone knew how many lion seals were here, we would be more suspicious of them than we are the Legion. They need to be... culled.

Happy hunting. The Hardened Felglass is sadly pretty rare, but this should hopefully generate a few.

So, I'm stuck home in an ice storm and decided to go try to farm some of these up. after about 4 hours of continuous murloc slaying in Azsuna, i have 9 of these boxes. I started at 930, got my first box at 940, another at 10, 10:20, 11, 11:20, 12, 12:20, 1pm, 1:20...

so it looks to me it has a 20 minute cooldown before respawning with a cap of 2 per hour. I could be wrong (probably am) but it seems to be working for me

SIdeNote, I have ALL the 880 patterns except the one i need... go figure

After looting a sprocket container, I can never get any more to drop from any new kills. I can, however, get more than one to drop if the mob or mobs i kill are big enough. So maybe its just the ability to drop once an hour then it goes on cooldown, not necessarily one container dropped. What I want to know is if the theory was disproven by them getting more than one at one time or was it by killing & looting a sprocket container, then killing and looting again ten min later or so getting another container. Every time i finally loot and see 1 - 3 containers in the current dead mobs, i'm not able to get anymore no matter how many i kill until some time has passed,

Not sure if I just had really good RNG on day 1 & 2 or the drop rate on Felglass was nerfed.

During the first 2 days of the patch I made 1 goggles and had 3 glass on the AH for a total of 9 glass.

The past 2 days all I've been getting is the lame engineering reagents and 1 glass.

Confirmed multiples can drop I just got two from Azsuna Lion Seals. So far in one day of farming (6 or so hours) I have Plate, Mail and Cloth recipes (not the Leather I need) and 3 Hardened Felglass.

I wanted to give my two cents on the hour cd for these dropping as mentioned above.

I agree with what mattiam posted.

On a few occasions I've gone out doing world quests for about an hour and a half. Whenever I do this, I get one drop shortly after starting, and another about an hour later. At first I starting farming one, then logging to another toon for at least an hour. Twice after doing this and returning about 1 1/2 hours later, I did not get a new drop until 30-40 minutes later.

For now my farming strat is basically to hit a mob dense area for about 10 minutes until I get a drop, then switch to another toon for just under an hour, then log back in and farm for a few minutes, and so far, I have always gotten my next drop in this time window. Doing this, I have continued to get one drop per hour, while only farming for 5-10 minutes per hour.

I've managed to farm 25+ containers in this fashion. Droprate on felglass has been about one every three containers for me.

Is there a macro that's been developed that can track if your internal cooldown has been triggered for these to drop? I keep logging in anywhere from fifty minutes to an hour and ten minutes after a Sprocket Container drops and sometimes I get one within 10 minutes, other times it takes forty five plus minutes, which is darn near the assumed cooldown. Farming these is becoming quite frustrating.

I just got 2 boxes from 2 暗影惡魔 In Azsuna and got both the mail and the leather goggles. This should be a nice farm spot since the mobs only have 300k hp

I can confirm on 2 occasions that the proc for the container to drop and hour can be duplicated if you pull a big enough pack of mobs. I've had 2 containers drop from 1 big pack of mobs before. Not sure if they all have to be killed around the same time for that to happen or not. It's a nice surprise when it happens.

I've noticed this once killing enemies in suramar and once killing the murlocs in aszuna.

Believe i read somewhere, that someone mentioned that blizzard said that 1-2 would drop each hour.
Farmed some this morning, at 06:03 x2 sprocket containers dropped, then again x2 more dropped 40 minutes later at 06:43.

After Shadowlands pre-patch (9.0.1) and doing some testing. I have confirmed the Legion shoulder enchants will work on the following:
* Legion content shoulders, including Legion legendaries, but only on level 45 or lower characters
* profession crafted green/blue BFA shoulder for level 45, but only on a level 45 character
* profession crafted green/blue BFA shoulder for level 45 on a level 45 character
* Azerite shoulders from the War Campaign quest lines on level 45 characters (I have an xp locked druid with scavenger and bloodhunter on two pairs of Azerite shoulders and they continue to proc killing on the Broken Isles). These must be enchanted BEFORE activating the +5 item level azerite trait on them, as those additional item levels will push it above the maximum for the boons. Unfortunately they can't be re-enchanted with a different boon as it gives the ... too high level message, but that character still receives cloth satchels and bloodhunter quarries.

It is worth noting, existing boon enchants on shoulders that are now too high for it to have been applied will no longer function despite previously proccing before 9.0.1. The only exception I've found is those on level 45 characters.

Edit: Where prior to the 11/3/2020 reset, I was getting boon procs on my level 50 characters using enchanted Legion legendary and legion content crafted/dropped shoulders, I am now getting no procs after 2+ hours of additional testing.
I tested again on my xp locked level 45 character, and continue to receive boon drops of all kinds with a wide variety of shoulders from Legion Legendary, to Legion crafted, legion armor token created, heirloom AND even BFA level 45 green/blue upgraded crafted shoulders.

It appears all of the boon enchants have some kind of strange character level restriction attached to them in addition to the actual shoulder item level now.

i spent hours and hours killing appropriate level mobs inc places i farmed pre BFA n SLs including alcaz island and nothing and with the lvl req being 60 n under i wonder if they even drop now i have lvl 53 shoulders and days of nothing for one schematic to complete my eng is frustrating.. are they still dropping from appropriate mobs? i was at one stage getting 2-3 per hr of farming 4-6 on alcaz island off robots

Lvled a character to 45(locked xp), maxed legion Engi and did the Engi questline - Put shoulder enchant on a pair of shoulders (ilvl 52)
Im looting a sprocket every 30m so that seems to be the CD.

It feels 800x better to do this instead of gambling with scraps.

From what i can see, the time between 2 drop is RNG ( 30 mins to 2 hours ).
I dropped my first 扣鏈寶箱 at 18:00:16 the next one dropped at 19:03:50.
Dropped 2 扣鏈寶箱 at 20:58:52 but nothing between 19:05 to 20:57.
Don't be fooled by the % posted on wowhead the drop rate is high.

History

18:00:16 = 1 box (Schematic)
19:03:50 = 1 box (No Schematic)
20:58:52 = 2 boxs (Schematic)
22:19:48 = 1 box (No Schematic)
22:49:02 = 1 box (Schematic)
23:27:58 = 1 box (Schematic)

Tips :
- any class lvl 45 with locked exp 史拉茲 prefer a tank class for big pulls if you do not use 2 accounts with a level 70. Mage can be helpfull if you use a max level for fast travel to dalaran.
- If you do not use a mage, set your HS to Dalaran.
- Start the engee quest to unlock legion engee and do the quest chain. Here is the quest chain 阿唷，該死的！.
- Farm 750 盲目之眼 and buy 結構圖：火藥炸彈 + 結構圖：火藥炸彈 and craft this item from 1 to 100 for easy max legion engee. You need 5k- to 10k golds for Mats + Schematic.
- Since i used 2 accounts,i suggest you to do all your quest with your main if you got 2 accounts or ask a friend to help you since you need to run some dungeons.
- Best spot 嗜血小龍隼.
- Buy some 30-34 slots bags with this spot your bags can be full really fast.
- After the first 2 boxs i used this strategy : kill some packs during 3-5 mins every 30 mins. Watch a film or do something else cuz its a waste of time to continue since there is an intern cooldown.
- Avoid the 翻找碎塊 farm it's just a huge waste of time, leveling a character to level 45 and doing the quest chain + 4 schematics will only take you half a day.

I just openned roughly 50 of these.
First 3 Skullblaster recipes came within 10 of them. It took 40 more to get Rugged Skullblaster recipe. I guess I was just unlucky.
