You can fish any of the of the offhand fish anywhere. These items are for vanity and serve no real purpose other than "lol lewk guys i gots me a fishie!"

Caught this twise on the beach of Tanaris and it does not seem usefull for any things...

It is white, not gray, which means it is a "useful" item. The only "use" I have discovered for it food for hunters' pets. It can not be held in the off-hand and is not a reagent for a crafted item.

Was fishing on a small island between the Feathermoon stronghold and the shore of Feralas, and got it on one of the first casts..
Just a fishing-addict collecters item.

I just fished up one of these doing the DMF fishing quest, first cast, paired with the quest fish, off the right-hand dock near the exit portal.
