(For people considering buying this for leveling faster, but worried about how it will affect your garrison/gearing up - realm 1st 100 player)
The average player may spend 8-15 hours leveling with this on, which would be 800-1500 resources lost from potions if you had this active all the time. Faster players who know the content or like to quest as fast as possible can probably do it in 7-8, which is still a decent chunk of resources. You need 2,000 resources to upgrade your garrison from level 2 to level 3, which doesn't count garrison resources you will spend on all the other buildings you put in it or missions.

You will be set back a good ways on your garrison progression by the time you ding 100 if you purchase these. Even if you don't buy them, when you hit 100 you will feel starved for garrison resources initially. Had 900 GR after powerleveling to 100. (after 500 spent on xp pots) My friends who did not use XP pots still had to farm rares and treasures for GR at level 100 to get the buildings they wanted up and running ASAP.

Garrison resources are pretty easy to earn over time, but they are hard to get all at once. You can always take ~45 minutes to unlock your garrison and the cache on a character, let GR build up over a few days in the cache before you start to level that character. This is great, suddenly you have hundreds of GR to blow if you can be patient for a few days.

4/21/15 update: The addon Handynotes allows you to farm GR off rares and treasures in great quantity (treasures are also great xp). At 100 I quickly made up the GR I lost buying potions this way.

TLDR: If you are serious about gearing your character as fast as possible, do not buy these potions. The garrison profession buildings and follower missions impact that a lot. If you don't care about your garrison's impact on your character as much, go for it. You passively earn garrison resources over time in your garrison's strongbox anyway.

It is not just Alchemists who can purchase this item. It persists through death and does not stack (anymore).
Also, if you don't have a level 100 character yet. You can still buy this at level 91 in your garisson. I checked to see if you can buy it without having a level 100 character (tought it would be a heirloom sort of perk at first). But yeah... you can just go to your garisson at level 91, and buy them. :)

So at first it seems like this potion is really steep in terms of resource cost. When i was building up my garrison to level 3 i had to scrounge every last treasure in Gorgrond, Frostfire, and Shadowmoon to get the 2k limit. After i saw how important resources were to just being able to do anything with your garrison. My opinion on things changed once i parked my 100 and started to level my alts.

Having put all my 90 characters to at least the garrison stage (some i powered to 92 to open up mines) i noticed that when i came back to level that in just a day or two all of my 90s/92s had amassed 350-550 resources. For most of them this is before they even really step foot proper into Frostfire. In just a day or two of leveling normally the usefulness of this potion shot up big time. i could now easily afford 3-5 without even hurting my resource generation via quests.

How ive come to utilize this potion is pretty straightforward. With other xp buffs the strategy is to complete quests and then turn in all at the same time after you get the buff to maximize uptime of xp gain. This potion is no different but there is an additional element or two to this. The first point to consider are Bonus Objectives. Before downing a potion i run to each objective and do everything but one or two easily completable parts of the quest. Then once i have all them done is such a way i down a potion and hit up each. The second point are the treasures that are scattered around. The potion affects the xp gain here, too. It you use an add-on to put treasure nodes on you can really rake in the xp if you collect treasures while you are questing.

tl;dr version:

- Resources are hard to come by early but this is not a problem for alts.
- The buff works for Bonus Objectives. At 91 its 82k per completion. Your progress is saved at these Bonus Objectives even if you leave so almost finish them and then do the last final kill/click as you are running by questing after you've got the buff.
- The buff also works for Draenor treasures. At 91 that is 25k xp per loot.

At this time in the beginning of the expansion this potion is insanely expensive. The tooltip is fairly strait forward but what it's not telling you is the thousands of gold it costs. Let me explain. Trading post - you buy materials for garrison resources. Such as Draenic Dust, which I'm sure everyone is starved for right now because it's hard to come by, for good reason of course because it's not bind on pickup and can be sold on the auction house. Some of my alts have the trading post for the sole purpose of feeding my enchanters, and those alts are drained empty on garrison resources. Eventually Draenic Dust will be easy to buy up on the AH, but for now with the current prices you're losing thousands of gold if you don't trade excess garrison resources for dust. Just sayin.

Note that later the trading post might just not lose any value due to new resources being added. I wouldn't be surprised if savage blood gets added next patch or another, actually increasing the cost of this potion more than it already is.

Besides, for leveling alts I prefer to use the rested exp "potion" which is 200% and free at all times.

TLDR: This potion is directly tied into your gold, in case you missed it.

Make sure you have moved your Alts through the Draenor starting quests and started their garrison so as they sit they are also building up 要塞資源 in their cache. Log into them now and then because while you can have 10,000 in the currency tab you can only have 500 max in your cache. As you are busy on your mains you'll be building up a large amount of 要塞資源 plus rested XP and can then buy several of these potions and speed up leveling that alt if you choose to when the time comes, and still have plenty of resources for the garrison.

No brainer (but still helpful) tips for using the potion:

Drink it when you get to where you're going to quest - it's silly to drink it at your garrison and then waste five minutes flying to wherever you're going.
Drink some and then go do the bonus objectives for a zone - you've gotta kill stuff anyway, and you won't have to run around to quest givers
Don't buy a bunch - buy two, max at a time. When you hit 100, they'll be useless as they are not account bound.

Tip for Alters and this potion:
1. Unlock your Garrison Cache ASAP on ALL characters who can push through Tanaan.
2. Go back to your main . Every 72 hours or so, log on to your alts and gather the Cache: this nets 500 Resources for doing ABSOLUTELY nothing.

...By doing that, you can FREELY use this potion without impacting your Garrison development on your alts. Staggering leveling and gearing makes this very lucrative, and that +20% is HUGE for leveling.

Note: It stacks multiplicatively with Rested EXP and the Spires Tavern.
...so tip 2:
Get to Spires and set up that Outpost, namely the Tavern-- Spires quests give 144% their normal EXP with the combination of this and the Tavern. ...Mobs in Spires while rested can give 288% their EXP, which is pretty darn nice.

How to powerlevel an alt with these potions:

Prior to powerleveling:

Get the alt to Draenor and build their garrison to start banking resources. You'll want around 1000GR if you want to do this all at once. Otherwise, you can log in and level at your leisure as resources permit.
Bank rested XP to full.
Get an addon that shows treasure locations, or have a handy guide available.
Optional: craft or buy a 630 weapon and/or 640 gear to avoid gearing issues at the later levels.

When leveling:

Hit all bonus objectives in a zone, if possible in a party as kills and collections are shared. This is the #1 way to gain experience the fastest. For instance, if you clear all the bonus objectives in Gorgrond in a party, you will level extremely fast.
Do quests ONLY if they are in the areas of bonus objectives or can be done along the way without backtracking. Even clumps of quests in small areas like Stonemaul Arena may not be worth doing over getting to a new Bonus Objective area.
Collect treasures as you move between bonus objectives for XP as well as for gear upgrades. Avoid the ones that don't yield experience, which usually are the junk loot ones.
Only go after rares if they are on your way and/or yield gear upgrades as their XP gained is relatively low compared to treasures.
DO NOT RUN DUNGEONS.

It's possible to do a level in an hour or less with this method if you are teaming with others to split the work at the bonus objectives. Unless you buy crafted gear, you'll constantly be under-geared and having a party can help with doing the tougher bonus objectives quickly. If you do this solo, it may take more than one potion a level closer to 100. Nagrand has very few bonus objectives, and many treasures require gliders to reach wasting precious time if you chase after the wrong ones.

I really do not understand why:
1) Those are BoP - my main is closing to 10k GR limit with nothing to spend on (I have mill and do all missions with 25 followers).
2) It requires level 91 - I actually want to get TO level 90-91 asap to experience WoD superior leveling and be done with older content.

Something tells me this will get changed in future so will stockpile my near-limit GR into those in hopes for future fixes.

The bonus EXP is not limited to Draenor, as it also works for the Darkmoon Faire quests like 救治伤员; my character at 93 was getting over 16k EXP compared to 14k without the potion.

CANNOT BE USED AT LEVEL 100 FOR THE REP BOOST.

If you try to use this at level 100, you are denied and you get the message "Target is too high level". Also, you cannot refund it for the 100 garrison resources that you spent on it (for whatever that's worth, which isn't much). The tooltip does not reflect this limitation.

I was worried that this wasn't working as there was no clear indications in the Combat Logs like the rest bonus (+123 exp Rested bonus).

To sort the niggle of 'is this actually working?' simple look at the exp shown on a quest before handing it in and look at the entry in the Combat log you should see a larger value (+20%).

Now if this is not enough you can check that you have actually received your full 20% by the following quick calculation...

Expected exp X 1.2 = Combat Log exp

For example I had a quest that indicated I would receive 21,150 therefore to use the calculation...

21150 X 1.2 = 25380

Sure enough in my Combat Log (My Actions): 25380 experience.

Just tested to see if this potion would stack with 咿哈！ From what I've gathered it does indeed stack, adding yet another reason for those with the resources for the potion to visit the fair.

Great for Alts with excess resources saved up during the time before the Darkmoon Fair rolls into town, Potion is known to also stack with 處處無家處處家 for faster Spires of Arak leveling. Need to test if the Darkmoon Fair xp buff also stacks with spires tavern, while simultaneously stacking with the potion. potentially speeding up the spires leveling process by a rather large amount.

Also need to test if the Darkmoon XP buff hat stacks with the potion, as the hat does not stack with the carousel buff.

TLDR: Potion stacks with Darkmoon fair XP buff
Needs testing to see if the potion will stack with both the fair buff and the spires of arak tavern bonus.

Just an FYI in case some people didn't know already, you can only start purchasing these once you are at level 91. The vendor says you're too low level if you try to buy them at level 90.

I have level 90 alts in their Garrison capping on Garrison Resources for whenever I level them in the future, but realised I couldn't purchase these potions from the vendor until I leveled them up to 91.

I Just tested and confirmed. This does stack with your heirlooms.
I was getting 37k+ quest turn-ins in Gorgrond at level 92 with this potion, heirlooms and Darkmoon
carousel buff (I blinked and was at was at level 93 lol)

I just wanted to add that this potion also adds 20% exp. on your garrison character xp missions

Warning. as of the 6.2 patch this potion does NOT work for a L100 il666 alt of mine.

I bought it today from the QM, no problem, no error message. 5 minutes later as I started to farm for Arakkoa Rep to reach Exalted, I got an error message "you are too high of a level" when I tried to consume this potion.

I have filed a Blizzard bug report.

So I'm not sure what Bliz's intent is, but If there is an ilevel or level cap for using this potion, the QM shouldn't sell it.
No refund allowed to sell it back to the QM, and since its soulbound and has no sell price, I'm just stuck.

Noticed I am not getting the extra 20% experience when handing in quests while using these on my rogue :( Have submitted it as a bug but doubt anything will come of it. As for mobs - no idea if the extra 20% is working as every mob has a different exp gain. Anyone else had the same thing?

EDIT: A change has been made to this item and it is now no longer an option to stock up on these before Legion.

Since I haven't heard about any planned changes to this item for the next expansion, I'm just going to put this here and risk getting downvoted.

If you're like many other players and you have a ton of garrison resources on your characters that are going unused, consider using them on this potion!

If the item remains unchanged and available, it'll be useful for levelling past level 100. And it doesn't hurt to use up some resources that would otherwise just gather dust, especially when the garrison becomes irrelevant itself and people move on to class order halls.

Since the resources are so easy to gather, even if you don't actively play a character (since they're generated automatically in your cache), with no information implying the item will become less useful when Legion arrives, it's not a bad idea to stock up on a couple of these for every character you're planning to level to 110. And unless I read some statement from Blizzard saying that they're going to limit the effect of this and not let characters over level 100 make use of it, I'm going to be doing just that!

If you're considering this, obviously don't wait until days before the expansion comes out if you're planning on getting started immediately. The sooner you start, the sooner you'll have a nice stack of these. If you start now you don't even have to gather them, because of the aforementioned auto generating of your garrison cache. Right click that bad boy every couple of days and buy more potions!

I notice this says requires lvl 91, yet there is no upper limit... I wonder if this will be usable after legion drops. Even 100-101 would be 20% of my time I don't have to waste levelling lol. Even tho putting a req on it, such as only usable in Draenor or not usable after 100 woudl be all too easy

August 2016. The pre-expansion Legion event is the best time to use it. The event gives tons of xp for each stage. If you use this, it gives you 69k Xp a pop and 103k xp for the final stage. Just stand in a building nice and safe and it still count. Once these start constantly occurring in the later weeks, you'll be leveling insanely quick

With the coming of the Legion, I find these potions to be immensely useful when levelling alts through the tedium that is Draenor. I buy a whole bunch of them with my Garrison Resources - because, let's face it, it's not like I am going to use said resources for anything else - and then start doing Bonus Objectives. As a result, I was able to get my Priest from 91 to 98 in a few hours.

Also, if you have Deadly Boss Mods installed, then you might find this macro useful:

/dbm ctimer 3600 XP Potion

Using this macro drinks a potion and creates a one hour custom countdown timer in DBM. The countdown timer will, as the name suggests, count down from five to zero in the middle of the screen, to remind you that it is time to drink another potion for that oh-so-sweet XP gain.

It's worth noting that although you cannot consume these potions at level 100+, any remaining duration you have on an active one WILL continue to give increased experience. You can check this yourself by comparing the quoted experience from a quest reward while still in your log to the total amount of experience displayed on turn-in (and the chat message after).

So if you've only got a few minutes left on your potion before hitting 100, go grab a snack, refresh your potion, then finish the job!

To get this really fast, do the initial Black portal quest, then ask a mage for portal to stormshield.
Fly to garison area and you will find quest to build garrison

Ackchyually XP buff works after lvl 100, you just can't use new potion at this point. So you can pop a potion right before getting 100, ding and then keep getting extra xp for another hour.

It appears the lvl 99 restriction is only on drinking the potion; however, if you ding 100 while the potion is active, you'll continue to accrue the extra 20% XP.

I tested it by travelling to Legion content at lvl 98, and went through the process to get my artifact weapon. Once I had it (about lvl 98.5) I headed toward a Legion invasion and drank the potion. I finished the invasion and then filled it with the area quests (e.g. Defend the Broken Academy), and then did a little questing. By the time the potion was finished, I was lvl 101.5.

I then compared the XP for a quest I turned in immediately before the potion ended, and a quest I turned in immediately after. The XP was about 20% less for the non-potion quest.

Let it be noted that this does NOT stack with the war mode buff. I may be wrong, but twice I've used it now and it's gotten rid of my war mode buff and replaced it with the potions. If anyone else could confirm or deny this with their experiences, that would be great.
