This drops of the final boss in ST, Shade of Erakinus.

It has a very low drop chance but it's a pretty good weapon.

Info about the Chance on hit:

You summon one whelp at a time, but you can only have up to 3 whelps summoned at one time. Their attack is shooting green bolts at an enemy, which take about 2-3 seconds to cast and it's cooldown is roughly two seonds. Each bolt does about 280 damage (fighting a level 52 monster) and during the duration of the summon, it casts about 3 of these bolts, making the final damage around 840.

Far too hard to kill shade solo and time consuming to get this as a viable weapon for its level. This would be similar to ironfoe, a prestige item.

This sword is a priceless treasure to obtain since the boss has godly attack power so make sure you have a well structured group. The only good this is this weap has a good chance on hit, but basically you can do way better when you get to level 60 which isn't too far away if you can weild this sword. For the amount of struggle you have to go through to get this sword it is pretty much worthless to even attempt.

My guild leader got one of these a while back on his now level 60 warrior alt. He still uses this weapon off and on and it seems to process a fair amount, about once per fight when fighting elites or soloing non-elites.

It's also comically big.

Wouldn't be able to farm this either, Shade is the last boss and you need to kill all the troll bosses, all four dragon bosses and the 2 mega troll bosses. I think...Haven't done ST in some time.

i actually had this sword drop from jammal about a year ago and won it with my rogue..maybe things have changed with it since then, but it always only spawned 1 dragon for me..send bloodskalp a tell on burning blade (alliance) if you want to see what i mean :P

I had forgot this had dropped in here, and on my first (and last, as things had it, could never find another group) run of ST on my Rogue, this had to drop.

Of course, being combat, and this being the godly sword this is, I needed. Problem is, I had to outroll 2 hunters, and paladin, and a warlock. (coughjerkscough)

Good thing is, the WoW gods smiled on me that day, and I rolled a 100. Spent half my gold on a Crusader after that.

Im level 65 now, but this is a trophy item for me. Holds a special slot in my bank, for those special occasions when I decide some lowbie horde must die.

omg, u dont wanna know lol...ud be owning lvl 70's practicly O.o...this wep does more dmg than some lvl 70 daggers and the proc gives u hella DPS...with two it would proc extreamly often making you almost as good as a lvl 70. With good twink gear + Dragon's Call u would be one serious force to be reconed with XD

Well here we have it again... A huntard who has needed it if you look in picture 4 of 4 You clearly see its a hunter on Abilits on toolbar and pets etc etc, I get so damn sick when Hunters Need on Chanse on Hit weps just beacuse its Cool or this case Epic so.... When i do this boss later on I will clearly state That hunter cant need on it Serius Hunter need AGILITY STAMINA AP not chase on hit.

The proc rate on this sword seems to be about 1 out of around 65 swings and the whelp seems to be bugged when it's summoned and just sits there but doesn't attack.(Kind of like a pet you summon from an item except it can takes hits) The whelp is level 53 when it procs and has about 1750 life or somewhere in that range

This dropped for me last night. I used my 70 hunter to run my 44 rogue and two other guild mates through the instance and this dropped first try. My rogue won the roll so I will be getting him up to 52 asap.

excellent weapon for lvls 52-60, tho it is a very low drop rate...i was one of the lucky people; got this the second time i ran ST. I was a ret pally doing amazing damage with Taran Icebreaker (with less than 2k mana :( then i got this sword and went prot...lets just say AMAZING, i do more damage than i ever did as ret spec, even tho im using a 1h, and i enchanted this with +30 int, so at lvl 57 i have about 4k mana and 5.5k health...ill use this sword until i can get the epic pvp sword High Warlord's Quickblade...amazingly awesome weapon, and definetely worth the runs in ST...Good luck :)

Rogues: bear in mind that if you vanish with a whelp up, whatever mob(s) you were attempting to escape will attack the whelp and then turn to attack you. Read: emerald whelp up + vanish = no vanish.

just got this last night...took 2 hours of non stop running...pretty ez to do....just had a mage friend stealth to the 6 minibosses, while my char stood at entrance of instance, once there were dead, just clear the way back to the instance portal and pick up your char....then just kill as fast as possible, and aoe everything...pretty ez, took about 26 mins per run, killed all dragons in room :P...GL getting it! imma go for it again for my OH :P

i love this weapon on my rogue, i duel weild it with ironfoe and a trinket, both giving me extra attacks, more attacks = more drakes. not used for much more than making people go "omg! wtf?" in GS but who cares.

Ran ST three weeks ago, and this droped for my Pally (level 49 at the time) along with Bloodrazor.

Just leveled to 52 last night, and now have it equipped. Wish I was a warrior now so I could dual wield both these babies!

All in all, both of these weapons are fantastic for a pally, and if you can get a elvel 80 to run you through ST, worth the time to try and farm for Dragons' call. Tons of xp, and a decent ammount of items never hurts either!

I just got this on my last run of ST, but I already had the lightforged blade, so, I decided that it wasnt worth the extra 2 levels, (I was 51 at the time, still am, but still.) just so I could lose 3.4 dps, and gain, what I thought to be, a mediocre effect. so I vendored it. besides, it has no stats.

I've noticed that a lot of spawned pets (such as http://www.wowhead.com/?item=5218) actually scale with level now, so I wonder if these do as well. When the patch comes out that can stop exp gain, I'm going to roll a twink rogue and farm two of these to BG with. Whether or not they're good for twinking, I honestly don't care...I just want to DW these babies!

Got this today in ST. The whelps are all 5 levels higher than me so they do seem to be scaled to level. They're great for taking the heat off of you. Also the sword itself is amazing with Slice and Dice up.

Haha! Finally, after 37 runs, I attained TWO of these swords! I now have a 'twink' 60 gnome rogue using two of them...I know, definitely not the best sword in the world, but I've always wanted to DW them. Now I'm curious though; what is the proc chance %? While leveling swords to cap, out of about 10 fights, I only got ONE whelp spawn. :-(

Yeah, it is not unique but the probability to get dual wield with that weapon is almost zero, I have get that weapon and i have never saw anyone with that weapon exept of me... and much less with dual wield. Im one of the 187 peps that got it :). Also the chance on hit is low, like every one fight i get the dragon as pet.

Just got this sword last night. Was my very first time being in ST, was being run through by a level 70 with a 48 Pally and another 46 Warlock. My buddy told me when I came into the instance that this sword dropped but that in three years he'd never seen it drop in there. Imagine my surprise to see it drop on my very first run. Can't wait to slap an enchant on this and dual weild on my combat rogue with it in my main hand and my Blood Razor in the off hand.

I got this on my paladin. I was tanking, and I was the only sword user in the group so I took it. Exellent DPS, combined with rightrous fury and retrubution spec, makes tanking a peice of a cake from level 52 till 58/60.

This dropped last night. People seem to get dramatic on this item. A very good warrior offered me (lock) 100g to not roll against him because the a crappy 50% afk hunter rolled on it too (which wouldn't work since we're cross realms) but i thought about it and rolled anyways and won (73 me, hunter 66, warrior 4) then traded to warrior for nothing of course.

kinda feel bad about skewing odds but got no love for horrible huntards.

Heh, just got this when I was going through ST for the achievement... on the first kill -- and for me, a lvl 74 Death Knight, it's pretty much useless. xD What a waste to all the people who really want it and can use it too. :'3

I'll use it to get my sword skill higher, though... if only for the dragon spawns. I'd like to see a whelp fighting besides me instead of just that stupid ghoul all the time. :'D

Dropped for my rogue the other day. Used it for questing for a few lvls and it was extremely frustrating. Every time I would vanish or shadowmeld the whelp would re-agro everything and get me killed. Luckily one of the first quests in Outlands gives you a better dps green sword. No way would I vendor this though, it's very cool looking and makes a good conversation piece. It's just really not good for rogues to use while questing.

I farmed the weapon easily and dropped after about 40 kills. It takes about 15 mins for a full reset. I also made a video with the route in case anyone wants to farm it too.

So, to make a long story short, I was in a PUG some minutes ago, and this dropped. Our tank (a druid, not being able to use swords, mind you) was a complete $%^&head throughout the instance, and just being a general idiot and not bothered with tanking at all. Guess who pressed need on this and won it?

My initial reaction was to trade him, and I basically said something like "Come on, dont be a total arse and give it to me". He put it in the "Will not be traded"-slot back and forth, even in the regular trade slots, just trying to piss me off even more I guess. He suddenly pressed trade, and as the window lit green I was completely surprized!

As was he. He snapped, and started spamming in caps that "ITS SOULBOUND! HOW IS IT POSSIBLE?". Guess he wasnt aware of that you can trade soulbound items in instances now. A really happy ending for me, so to speak, and even better - the laughs is all on him now.

I cant wait to try this beauty out. (Incase you are wondering, I am a paladin (Retribution/Protection)

I just had a mage need this and leave the party. I preceeded to track her down and ask her about it. She said she was an Inscriptionist so she could make a good off-hand. After many comments, I then asked he how in the hell she made it to level 54. She said she had a level 85, 81, 75, and 60. I'm convinced that took her 3 years to level all of those. She was COMPLETELY convinced that sword was good for her and not good for me, a protection pally, or the rogue, who I probably would of given it to. God I hate noobs. So very, very much.

Not sure if the drop rate has changed in Cataclysm, but I've run the instance 2 times on my pally, to have it drop twice. I won the roll the first time, and let the warrior in our group have it the second time.

I have been farming Sunken Temple now for 2 days straight. Almost every hour as soon as I could enter the dungeon again (As you all know you can only enter dungeons 5 times/hour). I think I have done atleast 60-70 runs now and I havent seen 1 single Dragon's Call yet.

BUT!

I have seen the epic robe (Embrace of the Wind Serpent) drop a total of TEN times. Ten freaking times.
Am I the only that is this unlucky? This is gettting ridicoulus, I even had x2 of those robes drop in 2 runs straight.

I got it twice, once on my paladin, and now on my rogue...

Funny story with the rogue:
I was in a LFG pug group, and the pala tank won the roll. He had heirlooms and all (i had nothing) and I asked him to trade it for me, since he doesn't need it. He said no and he left the group... Now since I already had the sword before, and I did have 鐵敵之錘 already on my rogue, I didn't get too mad.. But then i rejoined another random dungon. After 6 minutes, I went back in with the same palading, who was still using the sword. (what are the odds!).
We did the whole instance again, and at the end i asked him if he really needed it. He said that the sword was crappy and he gave it back to me!

Now I have 鐵敵之錘 AND 龍之召喚 from level 52 to 60! Isn't that awesome!

I had been doing bgs for 5 or 6 levels, so at 52 my gear was real bad so hit random dungeon and was glad to see sunken temple come up cause I always saw weapons drop here. Think my group had mostly boas on cause no one rolled against me and just said grats. Happy prot pali.

I got this today in my first ST run. I've got the BoA weapons but I couldn't resist using this one out of nostalgia, I always wanted it in vanilla. For reference the pet hits for 70ish DMG, and casts a spell for 450-500 nature damage.

just got my second one of these today =D I have to say that as a fury warrior there is nothing better then having your own army of whelping's attacking your foes. Will attempt to upload a picture with as many whelps as I can spawn later.

Atlasloot says the drop rate is 1.5%, Wowhead says it's 4% I managed to get both within 4 runs of Sunken Temple, so don't give up if your the sorta person that want's these, just keep farming and they'll drop eventually ;D

26 Shade of Eranikus kills later and the Dragon's Call is MINE! Was getting frustrated getting the same crap over and over and over again. I kept thinking the dungeon was bugged and I would never get this beauty to drop.

I'm currently using this sword along with the Crest of Loradaeron with full T2 Paladin Judgement set. I'm loving it. :)

Submitting Screenies of it being weilded and as transmogged with Windwalk enchant. We'll see if they get approved :)

I just got this wonderful sword last week! I've been running it for a total of 85 runs now approximately, and I got confirmed by a GM that the droprate of the sword is 4%.

After that I went inside and got it in the 2nd run of the day and I am now a proud owner of Dragon's Call!

You can run this 5 times an hour at about 2.5-3 mins per run. Took me around 32-33 tries to get it. Pretty worth it! Very nice plain looking broad sword type of thing. Looks great with windwalk enchant :)

I got this back in Vanilla on my Warrior. Got a lot of ooohs and aaaahs walking through Stormwind back in the day. Then BC dropped, and I had to turn it in for a new sword. I couldn't sell it - even though 5g was a LOT of money back in the day. It sat in my bank, all these years, collecting dust.

Nowadays I dual wield it. Thank you Transmog!

Anybody gotten this as of 7.0.3? I've farmed it fairly heavily and not seen it. Could be bad RNG, but what worries me is that occasionally I only get one item from Shade of Eranikus instead of two. I'm worried that those are the kills when I should be getting Dragon's Call too, but for some reason I'm getting nothing instead.

Oddly I noticed the loot changed... the dragons started dropping fire breather and the priest was dropping fist of the damned (they were not dropping these prior) happened for 2 runs, then blam, got the Dragon's Call! wooo!
