TL;DR = All of the raid instance bosses will drop gold based on the following formula:

total gold dropped by boss / number of players that killed boss

If you plan on farming gold by killing old raid instance bosses, you'll be unable to.

In general, enemies in raids and dungeons drop significantly more gold than outdoor foes, specifically because we are assuming that the gold is going to be split 5, 10, or 25 ways. As player power rises over time, it obviously becomes possible to complete old content with significantly fewer players, such that the gold rewards become disproportionately high.

In the past, our only solution was to drastically reduce the gold dropped by legacy content across the board (e.g., Magtheridon, much of Karazhan, etc.). In Mists, we have a new system in place that normalizes gold yield based on the number of players involved in the kill. If a Black Temple enemy drops 100 gold today on live, and you kill it with a 25-player raid group in Mists, it'll also drop 100 gold and each player will get 4 gold. If you solo Black Temple, that enemy will also give you 4 gold. If you do it with 4 friends, it'll drop 20 gold and each of you will get 4.

In other words, the gold obtained from killing raid or dungeon creatures no longer depends upon how many people you bring, or do not bring, with you. This system does not apply to anything in the outdoor world.

So yea check this:
MC bosses will drops 1-2g raggy 3-4g.
BWL bosses will drop 2,5-6g.
AQ40 will drops 1-3g.
AQ10 will drop 2-5g.
Every TBC bosses will drop 10g 12g for end boss.
Wotlk bosses will drop 13-20g which is significant reduce.
Cata normal bosses will drop 20g when their heroics 125g like it is today.

The upcoming nerf to the way gold drops is going to make this achievement drastically harder.

My one and only piece of advice I can give to people at this point is to go solo as much as you can until this drops get as much gold as you possibly can up until the patch drops.

I'm totally frustrated. Nobody ever confirmed that this achievment would be account-wide so for the last 4 months I grinded like crazy and was at 196k on my main just before 5.0.4 came.

So now I would be waiting for Blizzard to make a new achievment for 500 k...

They also significantly reduced the gold dropped from trash mobs as well.

I have ran Karazhan and SSC, and pulling trash groups which would usually drop anywhere from 1-5g, barely drop 1g.

I guess that makes sense after reading this page, this basically makes it farming those places at all a mediocre source of gold for this achievement.

This achievement is not cumulative across characters like HK's. Each of my toons show a different amount of progress toward 50k. I also have over 50k accumulated across all toons and have not received credit for 50k as of 5.0.4. This is obviously subject to change in a future patch but currently does not sum across characters.

Raiding is no longer the fastest way to earn this achievement. (Except possibly Heroic Cata raids, see below.)

The fastest way to earn this achievement is rolling a Tank (or possibly a Healer, although Tank is better), leveling up to 90, and running Heroic dungeons so you can get 霧濛濛的奇特神秘背袋. (This is only when Tanks are currently the Call to Arms role, but they almost always are. Healers are from time to time, especially at non-peak play time like the middle of the night.)

Since the achievement is account-wide, there's no need to mail the bag to alts anymore. Any mounts or pets would be account wide as well, so no need to be careful about not auto-looting the bag anymore. All of your alts will contribute to this achievement. So always make sure to loot your corpses whether you're leveling, questing, raiding, dungeoning, or pvping!

Raiding is still a way to earn this achievement, although it's a lot slower due to the gold nerf. You get gold that counts towards this achievement not only from what you loot, but from what people in your party/raid loot as well. So although of course Pandaria raids would be best, Cata, LK, BC and even Classic raids also work. (Although the higher level the raid, the more gold you're likely to get from bosses. Gold from trash seems roughly comparable. Heroics also drop more than normal. Heroic Cata raids still drop 125g per boss, which is nothing to sneer at.) Some outdoor raid bosses might be good to farm for this as well. Some 5 man dungeons are okay, especially on heroic. Due to the change in how gold drops, you no longer have to worry about bringing 'less' people, you'll get the same amount of gold either way, so it's actually more beneficial to bring people with you to kill stuff faster (but you share the drops so you get less non-achievement gold from vendoring stuff and from trash.)

Basically, it's a tossup about whether you want to do higher-level content slower, but for more gold per boss, or do lower-level content with a smaller group (and perhaps even solo it) for faster killing, but less gold per boss. It's up to you to pick the content you want to do and with how many people. There's a lot of raids and dungeons in the game to choose from.

Just make sure you and your party/raid members are looting every corpse! It often happens in raids, especially large ones, that members don't loot their corpses. (Although I see a lot more looting going on now thanks to AoE looting.) A corpse will have sparkles if there are items to be rolled on there, and the person that loots will be able to loot the gold and view the roll-able items; any other non-rolling items will be hidden and only lootable by the person the loot is assigned to. This means if a corpse has no roll-able items, only the person who is assigned to loot it can get the gold (which would get split to everyone and count towards achievements.) If they don't loot it, no one gets it!

Raid bosses always have the most gold, but the constant looting of trash along the way definitely contributes to the achievement. Especially now that we have AoE looting, encourage your raid members to loot the silver off the corpses!

You can actually make a bit of gold this way, as long as you don't fail and wipe a lot. Between vendoring all the epics you don't need (or disenchanting and putting mats on AH), selling the occasional desired BoE on the AH, and all the gold you get as you loot along the way, you make a non-useless amount of gold. Doing 'old raids' is a semi-ineffective way to make money after you've done your dailies every day, and it's usually a little more interesting than simply farming. Some rings and staffs and 2 handed weapons from LK raids can vendor for up to 20-30 gold a pop, though. Still, there's much faster ways to simply make gold, except that most of them don't count for this achievement (the prime example being doing dailies or playing the AH). If this achievement is what you want, roll a Tank. =P

You can work towards this achievement by:
Looting cash from monsters yourself. (Vendoring grays or other items does not count.)
Looting cash from openable items that create a loot window. (Here's some worth 1 gold or more a pop.)
Looting cash from enemy player corpses in battlegrounds.
Receiving cash from when a raid/party member loots cash from monsters.
Pickpocketing cash from monsters if you're a Rogue.

The fact that this achievement gains credit across all your characters means that it is much less daunting than it could be. This is because you do not have to feel obligated to play only a single toon when working on this achievement as was the case for the 100K version 我滿腦子都是錢. Though it is not as easy to crank our due to the gold nerf mine has been going up at a surprising rate since I got Mists. Just keep at it and let it build while not focusing on it and you will have it before you know it.

The absolute best (or easiest) way to earn this achievement is by 偷竊(ing) mobs as a rogue in Pandaria, hands down. You will at most receive up to 2g per pocket picked, but it usually varies between 10s and 1g. In the best spots you will loot around 60-80 藤破垃圾箱(es) per hour and they will contain approx. 14g each. That means you will earn between 840 and 1120 gold per hour from 藤破垃圾箱(es) alone, not counting the gold earned from pockets. (You will also loot a lot of greys which will sell for quite a lot, but obviously won't count towards the achievement.)

Running Cataclysm T11 & T13 (BWD, TotFW, BoT, DS) in HC-mode profits you 80-90g / boss kill, personally this is the easiest way of obtaining the achievement in my opinion.

People don't forget to do the Solo Scenario on Isle of Thunder on all your level 90s once a week.
You can easily net 300g+ looted gold during 5min. It's another easy step towards this achievement!

I might add more information what I am doing. Every week you can only loot 1 Key to the Palace of Lei Shen from a rare mob per char on Isle of Thunder. After you got your key, head to the lady in the cave right next to the "Stage 2 gate" to start your scenario.

If you're going for this achievement in MoP, be sure to do your dailies with Golden Fleece and Golden Moss equipped, and pop a Potion of Luck while you're at it. Every little bit helps!

a very handy way to do this is by drinking 尋寶藥水 which will give a fair chance to get 超小寶箱 from any mob in one of these zones:
Uldum
Mount Hyjal
Twilight Highlands
Vashj'ir
Deepholm

the 超小寶箱 are worth about 3.5g each.
I personally always go to Verlok Stand where you can kill:

the only problem is that since easter egg this spot has been discovered and a lot of lvl 90s are farming there.
but there is a platform above the usual place. it's a bit smaller, but it still works the same.
i camped the place for 30 mins and i got about 50 超小寶箱.
50x3.5 is 175.
of course you also get gold from the mobs themselves who are worth about 25 silver each.
in total i got 300g in 30 min.
that's 600g/h which isn't bad :).
you can also just farm these mobs while in QQ. handy to kill the time and make progress in this achi too :D!

Go berzerk in Guo-Lai Halls in Vale of eternal Blossoms for loot, extra-loot (from trinkets) and Ancient Guo-Lai Cache Key
Yes, whats looted from these chests do add up on the Achievement.

(I have 10xlvl90s on Alliance side).
Once per week per character; Kill a rare (might need to kill two) on Thunder Isle to get Key to the Palace of Lei Shen

Enter the single player Scenario on the island and loot as many chests as possible. If you get Burial Trove Key, keep them and loot chests after the scenario. This will also count toards achievement

Plan C)
Log my 90 rogue and start pick-pocketing on Isle of Thunder/Timeless Isle. 10s - 1g per mob, and decent droprate of Vine-Cracked Junkboxes

There is no quick way to get this, but I do have some tips:

1. Complete as much as you can of 收集套卡（第2季） on as many characters. Completing the quests for every boss will give you a lootbag. Depending on rank per boss, they drop 400-900 gold.

2. Join Cata 25m HC runs. You will get 175-250 gold for each kill, easy money.

3. Mass kill mogu mobs near Guo Lai Ruins (prefered using 幸運藥水 and both gold trinkets. Loot lots of 遠古郭萊貯物箱鑰匙 and open the chests to gain 30-50g each chest. You will have a stack of 20 in about 40 minutes. You will gain about 1.5k an hour from the Guo Lai chests, treasure chests and gold piles. You will also have a chance on finding a 天裂片. I only suggest this method if you have nothing else to do.

I'm way behind on this achievement, but lately I've been flying around Pandaria when I'm bored killing rares. Warbringers, warscouts, and the original rares spread throughout the isle all have a chance to drop goody bags that have usually around 30g per bag, as well as random trade stuffs. These days there's not a ton of people hunting these mobs like before, so if you're on early or up late chances are you can find most of these rares and tag them for yourself. Between the gold and the supplies this method is definitely worth your time.

Since the stat squish, I managed to easily get the last 50k I needed for this achieve from doing FL, ICC, DS, ToT4W (you loot almost 250G alone just from the 2 boss fights on 25H), as well as hunting Pandaria rares and farming Timeless Isle for toys/pets. With multiple characters doing old raids now, it is so much quicker looting gold.

You also loot a couple grand in gold alone doing all the zones in WoD, both from questing and hunting treasures...

We have found out finally a viable use for Garrison Resources. A easy, fast and very rewarding way to work towards this achievement is by doing this:

Make a Trade post in your Garrison.
Find the Trader there, for instance Tradesman Portanuus
Find the bag he sells on the last page which is Smuggled sack of gold and they only cost 50 Resources!
Buy as many as you can and open them. Each one drops roughly 13 - 40 gold and it counts BOTH for Draenor Money and for this
Repeat and get rich.

I got a total of 3,500 gold out of roughly 9000 resources. Doing this makes gaining more resources fun again as it offers you a different type of progression outside the garrison, by slowly going towards the achievement.

PS: This is just another way of adding money looted, I suggest you combine it with the normal boss killings etc.

During Pirate's day you can buy a 一大袋寶藏 from Dread Captain DeMeza. This will cost you 300g. What it does is that it spreads almost all of the 300g (around 285) into small piles of gold on the floor. This counts towards your 我滿腦子都是錢 achievement.

I needed about 8000, and I got 8000 in about 1 hour just because of Garrison Resources (only used about 1500), Primal Spirit turned into Savage Blood(had about 4000 because I had been stockpiling them for a bit), and Trading Post.

There is a vendor at the trading post that will give you a bag of gold for 50 Garrison Resources, and 1 Savage Blood. (Another comment posted the trading post vendor and some of this information)
Looting from the bags count as looted gold.
The bag from Garrison resources gives 13-16 gold per bag (average of around 15g from what I saw).
The bag from Savage Blood gave on average 50g per bag (at least that I remember).

If you have alts doing the barn often, you should go for the Nagrand elites just for the savage blood. If you are not turning it into gear, turn it into gold.

I did this on 1 character so far. I have over 10k primal spirits right now between my alts. I also have several characters with garrison resources capped, and a few hundred Savage Blood. I am not using my garrison resources or savage blood for anything, so for me with 12 lvl 100's, this is a money maker without trying for it initially.

Other things to note:
(For Jewelcrafters) always do the Gem Boutique daily if you have a jewelcrafter and a follower assigned to the building. The daily gives you a bag with gold... this counts as looted gold and is around 250g.

(Any crafters) if you have a lot of materials (the normal materials not the soulbound), do the one day cooldown recipe to make a book for "learning" except turn it in for a little bag of gold. This will give only a few gold but if you really want this achieve, every tiny bit of looted gold counts.

If you do PVP, you can turn Honor into Primal Spirits which then can be turned into savage blood. You make more gold by buying equipment, waiting the 2 hours to vendor it, and then selling it. But if you care more about counting towards this achievement then its a marginal difference.

For everyone who is trying to get this achievement(s), I found an amazing trick that helped me to go from 11k to 200k in approx. 3-4 hours;

During the Pirates Day (September 19th in my case), the event Dread Captain DeMeza is selling Big Bag of Booty; The item cost 300 gold, and once you use it it will return from 280 to 295g; Once you loot the pile, amount will be calculated for the achievement. Bigger piles are worth around 50g, and the smallest around 4-5g;

Make sure to move yourself to a safe location when none else can see you because other players can loot the money too.

To get from 11k to 200k, it took me around 4 hours with breaks; For this achievement, I had a loss of approx. 7k gold; From my point of view, it was completely worth it!

The bad part is that the event is available only for 1 day, if you miss it, you must wait for next year. I hope that this will help someone in getting the achievement faster!

Time-Lost Wallet is hands down the best to earn gold for this achievement - it gives between around 20 and 50 gold for each, and if you're farming this, you can get to 1k very quickly, needless to say the rest is just farm until it's done of course :) (This requires to do the "Deaths of Chromie" Scenarios which can be accessed through Legion Dalaran upstairs in the Violet Hold, or in Dragonblight on top of Wyrmrest Temple).
