A play on the phrase "Panty Raid".

From Wikipedia: A panty raid was an American 1950s college prank in which large groups of male students attempted to invade the living quarters of female students and steal their panties (undergarments) as the trophies of a successful raid. The term dates to February 1949.

Is there a way to actually hear the shanties? I'm a HUGE sucker for sea shanties, and when i first found one I had high hopes you'd be able to go somewhere to hear them while sailing the Kul Tiran seas or something. Sort of like how you collected new shanties to hear while voyaging on the Jackdaw in AC Blackflag. However it's starting to seem like that isn't the case... :(. I do hope in the future Blizzard actually composes songs for these shanties! Imagine if in a future patch they gave us an opportunity to go to a tavern or a ship (or maybe a tavern IN a ship!) where we can present these shanties to a band of bards and hear them in full tavern-stomping force -- fiddle, flute, and all.

Given how so many real life sea shanties involve the cultures and fables of different peoples and well-known locations, it would be amazing to see that level of world-building detail in Azeroth. We had a taste of it with Daughter of the Sea, but i'd love to see more, and I can think of SO many potential songs & poems! How bout A shanty about a pirate's night of debauchery in Booty Bay? What about one that tells the tale of an infamous ghost captain? How about a cautionary song about various monsters 'round azeroth that sailors likely often face (murlocs, eel, krakens, threshers, etc. I'm thinking basically a Warcraft version of the real life shanty, Fish in The Sea). I'd love to get a shanty about Queen Azshara and the Naga too. You'd have to imagine there are tales and tavern-side whisperings of sailors who'd get killed by mysterious serpent men, or kidnapped and never seen again. Especially after the story in Vash'jir. Culture wise, there's more than enough rumor there to inspire folklore legends and shanties about being pulled beneath the waves by a cursed elven queen.

The potential is practically endless for small world-building details like that. It's honestly exciting to imagine what Azeroth looks like up close with fleshed out cultures. Really helps paint a picture of what life is like on Azeroth. I would love to at least be able to read the shanties. If not have actual fleshed out music, it would be nice if they wrote little poems or lyrics and hid them in readable books around the Kul'tiras. That would make for a nice little exploration achievement to find them all.

Careful using TomTom coordinates as they are related either to Boralus or Tiragarde zone. You might search for a while (as I did) if you do not keep that in mind ;-)

For you fellow Horde members, the songbook in Boralus @ 53.14 17.67 is able to be looted without attracting the attention of any Boralus Guards. Land on the bottom floor, on the little pier/deck @ about 53 15 and then run in, click the book, and then you can leave the same way you came in. Took me all of about 10 seconds to land, run in, click the book, run out and mount.

this achievement is bugged, the items wont drop from the 2 rares
EDIT the 2 rares barman bill and one eyed bart will drop only for ally chars

This achievement is in the game right now as Shanty Raid. They're renaming it to Sailed in Sea Minor if you're having trouble finding it

Just got the four needed for Shanty Raid (as it is currently called in game, and which only needs the four non-Freehold ones) and it completed and also changed (to all 6) and marked the two Freehold ones as collected even though i didn't have them.

Might be worth doing now.

You can complete this achievement with different characters.

I had the problem that the two shanties from the rare mobs would no longer drop.

If you have killed these two rares at some point without looting, they will not drop a second time.

For those that can't find this in their achievements it's pulled up as 'Shanty Raid' as the name in the list.

if you are coming here to do the achievement "A Farewell to Arms"> and need to do "Sailed in Sea Minor" ... there is nothing in your achievement tab that says that. it says "shanty raid" that is the correct achievement name in the game
