Wowhead's Transmog Guides, Tools, and Database
Transmog Guides, Tools, and Database
Our transmog set database is one of the most popular parts of Wowhead. This page highlights all of Wowhead's transmog resources, including image search results for weapons and transmog guides for matching armor sets.
Transmog Set Database
Wowhead's
Transmog Set Database
groups together all items in the game by their looks.
Since transmog is all about visuals, this database is browsable with image thumbnails of each set in addition to the traditional text view. Mousing over each image brings up a complete image of the set.
You can browse sets by class with our filters. These filters include PvE and PvP tier items as well as BoE, dungeon, quest, and crafted sets.
Some sets have "Recolor" or "Lookalike" after their name. A Recolor set shows that a set is identical to other sets with the same name, but a different tint. For example, LFR and Heroic variations of a Normal set are marked as Recolors.
Lookalike refers to an identical version of a PvE or PvP tier set that can be acquired without any class specific gear. If you compare
this T10 transmog set
to the
lookalike
, you'll notice the first includes Priest tier gear like
Crimson Acolyte Cowl
while the second set excludes Priest-only gear.
You can now preview transmog set images by race and gender.
On each transmog set page, if you click on the blue "Show Sources" button next to Quick Facts, you can see a filtered list of all the items in the set and where they are from.
If you click on the "Related" tab at the bottom of a transmog set page, you can see what other sets have that same appearance. For example: if you click on
Shadowcraft Armor
, you will see a "Related" tab appear underneath the items in that particular set. This "Related" tab then lists five other color variations of Shadowcraft Armor.
In addition, there are many great screenshots and comments with weapon suggestions and other ways to make your set more unique!
Transmog Set Styles and Filters
We've also gone through all the sets and assigned the sets Styles--useful if you don't remember the name of a set but somewhat remember where it dropped from. Styles include
Classic World Set
covers BoE and crafted items from vanilla and TBC.
Dungeon Sets
cover all gear associated with 5-player dungeons, and can be filtered further, including
Challenge Mode
and
Troll Dungeon
appearances.
Events
currently include the Blessed Undead sets from the Naxxramas Invasions.
PvP Sets
cover all armor associated with PvP and can be filtered further by PvP Season as well as additional sets like
replica Field Marshal/High Warlord gear
. Putting together a PvP set can be confusing as there are many items with the same name but slightly different coloration.
Raid Sets
cover all gear primarily associated with raids, even if some items now have multiple sources. These sets can be filtered further by raid tier, and also include non-tier sets like
frost and fire resistance
and
nonset pieces from Naxxramas
.
Questing Sets
cover quest sets split up by
1-70
,
70-80
,
80-85
, and
90
.
We also have a powerful filter system that lets you narrow down search results so you can cut to the types of set you like.
At the top of
http://www.wowhead.com/transmog-sets
, you'll see a bunch of boxes and drop-down menus for things like level, item level, and source. Filling in information for one or all of these categories and then hitting "Apply Filter" will narrow down the results you get.
Immediately above the "Apply Filter" button is a white box with arrows--click on this to bring up additional filters. This covers the expansion a set was first seen in, recolor variations, and all the styles listed above.
Dressing Room
The
Dressing Room
tool is the ultimate custom transmog experience--create and save your own sets, easily browse gear on Wowhead, find a matching mount, and customize your appearance to express your personal style.
Play around with the barbershop outside of WoW. You can fully customize your character, from major features like their race to small details like their earrings and hairstyle. This supports special Death Knight hair colors and skin tones as well.
If you want to see how your in-game character looks in the dressing room, add them to the
Profiler
and then click the "Import" button on the dressing room tool.
Adding transmog gear is easy--click on the icons to browse gear for that slot. You can browse by name, but we've also added the option to browse by image since transmog is all about visuals. You can even add a complete transmog set at once. All the gear you select is automatically added to a convenient list underneath your character's model.
Our modelviewer supports many animations, as well as high resolution and regular character models, but we expanded our options. You can now even pose your fully-customized character on a mount!
Like your transmog and want to share it? Every time you make an update, your character is automatically saved via the dynamically-updating URL. If you want to always reference it, click on the "Save" option which will make it a permanent Custom Profile.
Outfits
Outfits
is a place to share your custom transmog sets with other Wowhead users and save them to the database.
To create an outfit: On the "Save" option for the
Dressing Room
, there is a new option to "Save as a New Outfit."
To view an outfit: Go to our new
outfits
section of the database and search by name, class, race, and gender to narrow down results.
Legion transmog sets, including Artifact Weapon Appearances and sets for Demon Hunters, can be added via the
Legion Dressing Room
and shared on the
Legion Outfit
page.
The Outfit page for your set will load your character's unique appearance next to your selected transmog items. Identical items will also be displayed in case users want additional ways to try for a particular item. As the author, you can also leave a description explaining the inspiration behind your set! Users visiting the page can also leave comments, upvote, and find similar sets that use many of the same items.
Image Gallery
In addition to browsing items by their normal text list, you can browse via image search results. These results are generated by our 3D Modelviewer for all armor and weapons, including capes!
To view the image results, simply click on the
Gallery
tab next to the default
Name
option after you run an items search.
Clicking on an image will open up our 3D modelviewer, and clicking on the name will take you to the item's page.
Same Model As Tab
If you are visiting an item's page, click the
Same Model As
tab to see all gear with the same style--perhaps you want to see identical armor that's easier to get, or a recolor that has the same pattern.
With images for all items, players can easily scan for which alternative item they want to acquire. Click on the image to view it in our 3D modelviewer, or click on a name to be taken to that item's page.
Popular Transmog Pairings
Transmog sets have long been one of Wowhead's most popular features. The ability to see what armor items are perfect matches has helped many players, so now we're taking it to the next level with
suggested transmog pairings for popular slots, including weapons and capes
.
We're scanning all the characters on Battle.net to show you what are the most popular pairings for each item and transmog set on Wowhead. We now show the top 4 matches for each missing slot on our transmog set pages, as well as key slots like weapons, tabards, shirts, and capes on
all
transmog set pages like
Judgement Armor
.
On each item page, we also show commonly-paired items for relevant slots. For example, boots like
Black Mageweave Boots
only show pants recommendations while shoulder pages like
Mantle of the Corruptor
instead show helm, chest, shirt, tabard, and weapon recommendations.
Buildings for Transmog
This guide covers all the different transmog sets and distinctive weapons you can acquire from Garrison buildings. You can create the gear you like and then tear down the building--you still hold onto the gear.
