Ever since I got this totem, I almost always use it over single-target Cure poison.

You don't have to target or even mouseover (if using a macro) the affected person. In arena, this is a huge timesaver because mousing over takes time to aim and breaks your focus. With this totem, you can simply run into the approximate area and drop it. It only costs about 20 mana more than single-target, and it will cure poisons even if you are disabled.

EDIT: I recommend that in AoE-poison heavy fights (which seem more common in WotLK), you continually drop this totem because of its 1s GCD. Some of the poisons tick for great amounts and there is simply no reason to wait 5 seconds for this totem to clear up a screen of green.

is this stackable? could see 5 shamans in 5vs5 making it impossible for the hunter's snake trap and rogue poison all allong.

This is very useful when you know you're fighting enemies that continually apply poisons, as well as rogues in PvP. Just drop it at the start of the fight and let it do all the work.

If you have 5/5 totemic focus, it becomes more efficient to spam poison cleansing totem than Cure Poison (assuming the player you want to cure is in your group). It is also faster to spam poison cleansing totem since totems have a Global Cooldown of 1 second and Cure poison has a Global Cooldown of 1.5 seconds

In wotlk totems are going to be in the physical school, meaning you can do this while counterspelled and more importantly, kicked.
