Didnt this shield orginally come from the first boss in the botanica?

Still a very nice shield to have, not only for the looks. I am certainly going for it with my warr, one of the first things on my list.

What is the purpose of a block value stat? Isn't the shield effectively (86 + 29) 115 block value? It seems like a confusing system, unless there's more to it.

This is one of the best pre-raid prot warrior shields. After farming this one, it'll prolly stick with you till the Shield of Impenetrable Darkness out of Kara

Just had this drop in the botanica with an absolutely legendary PUG. Can't tell for sure, but it looks like this is one of the best tanking shields pre-raid. Any ideas where to go from here?

Does this drop in Heroic mode or in regular. I have done Botanica 5 times now and still no drop. I'm sure i cna farm it as the second boss is fairly easy to get to.

This shield drops from High Botanist Freywinn the second boss in the Botanica. I've looked for better blues but there just arn't any around. In my opinion this is the Draconian Deflector of TBC. Even the Netherwing Protectors Shield can't touch this. Also keep an eye out for Obsidian Clodstompers, good plate boots from the same boss.

I had quite a day. I got a drop off each of bosses in mech. and this sheild dropped on my first run ever in botanica. I have Platinum Shield of the Valorous. So now I have to choose.
tank points rates this one as being a touch better, but i hate losing +sta I an currently sitting @ 13k unbuffed so i guess 50HP won't kill me. :P

yah, ive ran this place so many times im revered with sha'tar, its horrible. All i have seen drop is the pl8 boots, fist wepon, and those damn clothie gloves, its a buncha bull&*!@ man.... and same gose for the Helm of the Bold.....

I havnt seen this drop yet. Been farming bot once to two times a day for the past two weeks. Nothing yet. Bad luck.

75% Of my runs he will drop the neck piece.

I'm all about farmin this shield. I keep checkin to make sure this boss is the one it drops off of. I've ran this 16 times.....granted the stats from an above post suggest I should keep on running it....but, the damned rogue weapons and gear drop every fn time im run it. SO, if you're a rogue, the offhands drops like clockwork from this boss. What a pain in my ass............I'll be able to get the exhalted epic shield from Sha'tar by the time I get this drop.....F it imo

dps the big seeds down as quickly as possible

keep him on the bridge. and make sure tank always leads him back there.

i find this boss easy .

and no the shield hasnt dropped for me yet =).

I have been farming Bot over the past few days, i was in a run today, but the mage kept wiping the group so i left, 5 mins later my mates on teamspeak tell me it dropped :( ah well, there is a better shield that you get for being exhaulted with the Sha'tar so i am aming for that.

For people stuck on this or the Platinum shield from SLabs...try for this drop! There are a few reasons (besides it being superior overall):

1) You farm Sha'tar rep at the same time, so you can get "Crest of the Sha'tar" if Lady Luck hates you.

2) At revered, you can do Heroic Bot and collect Badges of Justice on your way to exalted with Sha'tar (advice for heroic = it's all about the CC...if your group make-up ain't right, it's not even worth starting the instance).

So, even if it never drops for you...you will definitely get the epic Sha'tar shield...and even further, the epic shield from Badge of Justice turn-ins.

P.S. After vendoring my Platinum Shield and equipping this, my Shield Slam crits went up by over 100 damage. That's some nice additional threat! Needless to say, the increased block value aids mitigation as well.

I ran Bot last night and got this shield on the first drop. It's a great shield. Def rating went up, block value went up, and shield slam went up. I'm aiming for Crest of the Sha'tar, http://www.thotbott.com/i29176, but this is a great step along the way.

Just get Netherwing Protector's Shield. Much easier to get looks better and is about the same. Sunbird is only slightly better but not worth the hassle. Then get Myrmidon's Headdress which is easier to get than Bold helm and equaly as good. Screw this instance and go run Kara.

it you think you can go to kara lacking the ability to clear semi hard instances like bot, sl or hell even BM *which is needed anyway) you really do have another thing coming any half decent tank whos ever been to kara should have no probs clearing this place

the netherwing shield .....its......its alright but this shield is much better for tanking

you want the best gear to tank for kara right? well this is better then your lil friend and the boss isntr so hard if your group isnt full of ignorant people

thats where your wrong, the best pre Kara is Crest of the Sha'tar. but nevertheless, its the second best pre-kara tanking sheild around imo.

I hate you all who say that this dropped on the first run. I ran botanica from when I first hit 70 having problems learning the bosses and having tons of wipes. By the time I got to exalted I was doing runs in 40-45 minutes with an ok group and 0 wipes. It never dropped but I got my epic rep shield so I wasn't totally bummed out. The thing that annoyed me is that I used the shield from mana tombs :( never did get the SL shield either (I have total bad luck with drops). It's ok though I'm getting tons of badges raiding Kara and heroics now so I'll be good when I get my new shield.
