This is the best tanking chest that drops from a 70 5 man dungeon.
Much better then BP of the bold.
and much better then breastplate of the warbringer.

There is better from Kara, and possibly, not sure, but probably from heroic 5 mans, and maybe better crafted.

BUT, from running normal 5 mans, this is going to be the best tanking chest you can have dropped.

I have ran this 17 times in a row now. She has yet to drop this chest piece. You have a better chance of finding gold at the end of a rainbow than having this drop. She mostly drops Netherstrike and Stellaris

I got this on my first run also. And then the same day I got the gauntlets that match this. I would love to run othes and get the whole matching set but I am not going to stress my self out that way because I am sure that it was just a matter of great luck I got both of them in one day.

Because block % stacks so quickly with block rating, I think this would be a descent choice for someone who already has 490 +def and is trying to push crushing blows off the table (esp paladins who don't have shield block).

This piece is my bane however. I do no believe wowhead's 16.4% drop. On AVG this should drop 1 in 6 times. Yes I understand chance and that it doesn't mean it will drop on the 6th try, but I've already hit exalted doing mostly mech runs and still have not seen her drop it :( Is it just my dumb luck?

Slap 150 health on this bad boy and you can tank for days. Dropped my first run on Mech and never looked back on equipping it. The + Def. rating and + Shield Block on this BP is ridiculous. What else can you ask for as a tank?

Jade-Skull Breastplate is better then Breastplate of the Bold for me and it is the best pre kara chest !!! :-D

15 runs no other instances not the same day but spread through the week. It still hasn't dropped in normal mode. I'm about to try my luck at the Breaste Plate of the Bold.

Casual / Non-raiding Perspective, for Warriors

This breastplate is a stepping stone for casuals and non-raiders alike. The reason I say stepping stone is that even if you don't plan on doing Karazhan or other 10-man content, you're likely to end up with this breastplate because it is simple to obtain.

The buck doesn't stop here for non-raiders, though. There is a new item that may overtake this beautiful blue: Chestguard of the Stoic Guardian.

A nice chest piece all round really. Very solid stats. Huge armor an stamina and some nice "Equip:" stats

If u cant see the last "Equip:" stat from the pic above its:
"Equip: Increases your shield block rating by 23"

I feel your pain, 7 runs and I have yet to see it drop, and this is a bloody good tanking chest as well :(

And if i see that Unsellable/disenchantable fooking thrown weapon drop once more i may just blow up...

I have seen it drop once and then a Retribution paladin, rolled need on it and outrolled me with 2...... I was a sad sad tank..

Been trying to get Greathelm of the Unbreakable,this breastplate,and Thatia's Self Correcting Gauntlets many times now,like probably 7 runs already. THEY NEVER DROP! The drop-rate is seriously f'ed up.

I have every pre-kara blue tank chest piece, cloak, and gloves. STILL can't figure out which combos are truly better, tho. I usually wear the Bold fully tank'd socketed.

Wish I cared enuff to learn the math to decide objectively. Ah, well...

Started to run mech with Sha'tar rep friendly.
Now I'm exalted, 4 months ago, still running, still haven't seen it drop ...

I am not sure if this has been said or not but it is obvious people dont understand what 10% or whatever drop rate means. It does not mean that if you kill that boss 10 times you will see it drop once but instead it means that every time that boss is killed the item has a 10% chance to drop.

So you could very easily go 100 kills and not see it drop and then see it drop the next 11 kills would would create the 10% drop rate.

Wow, I never realized how lucky I got.

Got this AND the Thorium Cloak on my first ever run through regular mech as the tank.

Makes me want to track down those PuG members and thank them again for the run ;)
