This item is great for any skinner capable of weilding a sword. On a more important note, looking at the damage, speed, proc, and attack power, this would best benefit a fury duel weild warrior lacking on weapons, as it's way too slow to tank with and way too fast for a rogue to main hand. I don't know why a paladin would ever use this item.

As the "Also serves as a skinning knife." shows, you just need to have it in you inventory to be able to skin, no normal skinning knife needed.
The +10 skinning only applies when equiped, as usual.

Yes this comes from ZG, I havent seen it drop, but as you might have noticed, most drops i have seen drop are named, "zulian" something or another.

As a Paladin skinner I am greatful that Blizzard put this in the game, even if it is an afterthought. Paladins could be skinners but never attain a lvl of skinning above 305 because Paladins are the only class that CAN NOT equip Finkle's skinner, therefore the only class that can not skin the high end stuff. This was purely an oversight and I am grateful that they have done right by the Paladin skinners out there, regardless that we may be in the minority. Thank you, thank you, thank you! Even if sounds like this blade is going to be harder than getting Finkle's =)

This is not true, leather is everywhere and sells steadily. Metal doesn't run for much more and has to be be found, taking longer than skinning a stack of leather. The gems you find while mining (ex: arcane crystals)are rare and therefore do not add up to as much profit/hour as some skinned items (ex: black dragonscales), which are quickly farmed and sell well. I would say there is a great chance to profit from both and pallys need the money if they are going to keep their plate armor in repair after dying to keep you alive. As for leatherworkers trying to say they need the leather more, this may be true but you can buy it if youre unable to skin it yourself so a paladin skinner is doing you a service...if not why do people buy so many skinned items in the AH?
Perhaps the paladin does not want crafted items as he/she has a plan for their final set that includes all drops, in which case taking time and money for those crafts would be a waste.
In case you are wondering, no I am not a paladin.

regardless of the extra skinnig it bestows on your charater, this is an all round nice sword, slow, ap and a relatively nice proc. any one who can use this and WILL use this, without replacing it 1 day after, should be allowed to roll, i would get this for my rog who does skining and lw, or for my furby warrior.
all in all this is a great sword so stop being whiney little #$%^&es saying only skinners should get the roll. they only get first priority.

Ok, first of all, all you Paladins saying that it belongs to you just because you can't use Finkle's Skinner are the greedy ones. I realize that you also want high skinning, and this is your only option, but you are no more deserving then any other class that helped kill the boss in ZG. Besides, since most of the pallys want it because they use skinning for money, think about what you skin with it. Mobs in 40man instances, and if you are selling the junk you skin in the 40mans instead of giving it back to the guild to make the guild better, you have absolutely no right to say any other class is greedy in rolling for this. In fact, since most paladins take skinning as just a money making profession, I think they are less deserving the the Rogues/Hunters that use the leather to make equipment for themselves or their guild. And to the few leatherworking pallys out there that actually took leatherworking to help their guild out, I exclude you from this.

Furthermore, I agree that this should go to a skinner first, but it is also a great weapon for other classes that are not skinners, and if it's better then their current weapon, they should get a chance to roll on it. There is no reason that that a class should get excluded completely from a weapon just because they didn't want to roll a certain profession. If you blacklist and spam someone from ZG (which would look really bad on your guild's behalf fyi) for rolling on this because it's a great upgrade to their current weaponry, because for them its "greed", you need to evaluate what you are doing to the guild overall. For instance, if you let a rogue roll on this, and it replaces Dal'Rend's Sacred Charge, and he will use it, he will do more dps; whereas a pally recieving this just because he is a skinner, and will only use it to skin for money and it won't help the guild at all. I think it would be more "greedy" to give it to a class that will ONLY use it to skin with. But that's my opinion, go ahead and flame me if you are going to.

I play an undead mage and ran a zg pug with some friends. tiger boss dropped this, and no one wanted. so, as i was sharded everything not wanted, it was defaulted to me for de. however, i figured i would use it for some fun and said i was keeping. no one said anything.
i put crusader on it that night, and the next day, got in an alliance friend's vent and said i wanted to duel him. so we go to silithus to test it out, and i am getting slice proc crits for almost 900. needless to say, i about ^&*! myself the first time the proc hit and killed him after i melee'd on him for a few minutes.
(i get the proc about once every 25-30 swings, and sader about once every 15 swings as a mage, its a great gag weapon)

my skinners get to roll on any weapon with +skin 1st because there are many dps weapons and not skinning, if you are allowed to roll on this before a skinner that needs, you need to apoint a new guildmaster.

I'm a Paladin that skins and does dragonscale leatherworking, and by the nature of the class, I cannot use a dagger (Finkle's Skinner included).
If I got into a raid, and this dropped, you'd better damn betya that I'd roll and try as hell to win it... despite your geekiness over classes.
As for 'your guild' - I would rather have a well-equipped tradesman with the possibility of higher skinning (aka Hide Of The Beast, etc) than someone purposely held back... for that reason alone, I would petition to have YOU thrown out of a guild.

I'm a lock skinner and I have this. I like to run people through SFK when I'm bored out of hell, and I took this thing in there and started meleeing mobs to death.

The proc on it was critting for 750~, and seems to proc quite often.

Thinking.... was it my +spell damage that was making it hit this hard, or does it usually crit for this much?

(and btw, I'm no noob, I don't use this when raiding and such, just when goofing off :D )

If people aren't greedy and agree that some classes benefit greatly more than others by allowing them items, then everyone wins. If a pally rolls on tanking gear that I want and need I want to cry. Just like if I rolled on an item with +Int on it... be pure sillyness for a warrior to do that.

Ok, I wrote a simple macro on how to switch from your normal gloves and weapon to your skinning gloves and weapon. This is useful if you need to do alot of 300+ skinning, for example if you need to skin core hounds in MC, and you need to do constant switching.

Ofcourse this macro will not work for you, you will need to adjust the numbers to work for your configuration. Here's how :

* Macro Line 1 : Change the number 4 to the number of bag your gloves are in. Your bags are counted like this : your backpack is always bag number 0, and the bag closest to your latency meter is 4. So your bags are in this order : 4 3 2 1 0. Then change the number 15 to the number of slot your skinning gloves are in that bag. Bag slots are just counted the normal way, from left to right like you were reading a book. My gloves were in the second to last slot in my bag, hence the number 15.

* Macro Line 2 : This line doesn't need changing, it refers to the item you equip to your hands.

* Macro Line 3 : Don't change this either, it refers to the weapon equipped in your main hand (also works for 2handed-weapons).

* Macro Line 4 : Again, change the number 4 to the number of bag your skinning knife is in, as explained in step 1. Change the number 16 to the number of slot your knife is in that bag. In this case, 16 refers to the last (bottom right) slot of a 16-slot bag.

Additional notes : This macro will work with Finkle's Skinner, as well as Zulian Slicer. It switches between normal weapon + normal gloves and skinning knife + skinning gloves. It will also easily handle the switch between a 2-handed weapon and your skinning knife.

(browsing old one-handed weapons). this has a sound associated with it, by the way. whether the sound is attributed to the proc or not, i don't know. but occasionally i would hear it growl/roar with the sound of a tiger (while i was attacking). took a while using it to figure out what was making the sound. just icing, but i thought it was interesting.

Got this last night in ZG, since there is no need for 325 skinning, I will probably just bank my gloves so I can put on (or take off which seems to be the problem) my skinning 315 skinning gear even while in combat.

By the way it's clearing a hunter weapon. :)

I keed, I keed. I was the only skinner in the raid that could use swords, the other was a druid.

lol a weapon for paladins? I've been suffering with a dalrend's offhand forever since onyxia is a chum and I would kill for this atm, but I've killed the tiger boss 8-9 times and he's dropped more betrayers's boots than he has blues that punk.

just got this on my paladin, and im using 5/8 judgement, it seems to gain 100% bonus from damage/healing because it hits for around 230-250 and crits for 450ish, not bad for a protection paladin (too bad im not >< just took it for skinning purposes)

I have a hunter w/ 325 skinning with Zulian Slicer, Finkle's Skinner, and the enchant. 325 skinning does NOT increase your success rate for skinning things that require 300+... it simply allows you to skin those things, so for right now there is no need for skinning over 315 and I usually just throw on the Finkle's to skin.

That being said, it's fun to have skinning up that high just for the wow factor. And the slicer isn't a bad weapon with a +15 agil enchant (but average enough that it was potentially shard bait) - I'd like to get a 2nd one to duel wield someday to replace the Finkle's for dragonscale farming.

It seems as if most people accept the fact that this weapon was specifically put in the game to make it so Paladins could get to 315 in skinning, but just for any tard that would try to take my Zulian Slicer if it dropped I will list a few completely logical reasons why Paladin skinners should get it.

1. It was obviously put in the game for Paladin skinners because they can't use Finkle's Skinner as previously stated.

2. It has a slightly higher drop rate than Finkle's Skinner according to Allakhazam and other sites, so give it to the Paladin skinner that has probably waited longer than you for the opportuniy to get to 315 skinning, because there aren't many Paladin skinners so you have a good chance of getting it the next time it drops.

3. A Paladin skinner can only go into Zul'Gurub once every three days to try and get this whereas you can go into UBRS as often as you can get a group to go and try for Finkle's.

4. If you are a Rogue(or any other class) that wants this weapon and you don't care whether skinners should get it first, if I were a group leader and you rolled on this and skinners needed it I wouldn't only kick you from my group, and put you on my ignore list. I would also go to both Ironforge and Stormwind and advertise in General channel that no one should ever group with you again because you are obviously too stupid and greedy to group with others. Plus there are plenty of other weapons you can get that are as good or better than this that are less contested.

Ok, so the last one wasn't as much reasoning as it was an opinion, but it is a valid one so I'll allow it.

You cant skin Magmadar. You only need 315 skinning to skin Nefarian (he drops black dragonscales), as well as Onyxia. I'm a Druid skinner and had to pass since I cant use swords nor can i duel wield, but i already have finkle's so it really dosent matter.

SPELLPOWER
祖利安分割者 is one of three one-hand ZG weapons that benefit from +spell damage available within ZG, the other two are 懲擊權杖 (random drop) and 上古哈卡萊之斧(Hakkar).

So called 'meme specs' that stack +spell damage on their armor and also swing in melee for throughput will benefit greatly from such items. No judgement here, minmaxing is antithetical to RPGs in my opinion, so do whatever you enjoy.

Each one of the items in my post scales 1:1 with +spelldamage, making ZG a great stop for your atypical spec as you stockpile the 龍息紅椒 you need to beat naysayers in duels.

Many chance on hit weapons do not proc during GCD activitiy, there is an invisible cast time that your abilities will interrupt unless the proc is an 'instant' spell. I can't confirm/deny how these 3 weapons behave so I'd test them yourself before you plan specs around them.

SKINNING
皮普的剝皮刀 is beloved by skinners despite the lower drop rate, both for it's ace ventura reference and the fact that the boss that drops it is immediately skinnable once equipped. Some players may have a harder time getting a ZG off the ground than UBRS but that is not my experience. In any case, 祖利安分割者 will be the only way that Paladins can get from 305 to 315 once they have their enchant.
