When I did it a few days ago, there were 3 friendly water elementals that spawned as I fought him. This was at lvl 20, and with their help the quest was very easy to complete.

If you need the coords they are at 25,41. As the last guy said it isn't to hard because water elements come out and help you.

Hehe, I sprayed the barrel, Tal showed up, frost nova'd me out of melee range, and then the elementals showed up and killed him for me. All I did was throw a few shocks.

25,41 is correct coords! You will see a tent with lots of barrels beside it. Respawn for barrels are 3 minutes.... just in case you die on your first try ;)

I don't understand what the problem was..

I got there on my level 22 shaman, sprayed the barrels, and he spawned. He's a non elite level (23?) and the two water elementals almost immediately kill him; just throw in an auto attack and an earth shock and it's over in a few seconds.

easyest quest ever i got him down to 50% in like 2 hits (non crits) and then water dudes came and killed but

i died the first time *embarresed* but figured out that i could just lay a nova totem and spray the barrel. as soon as he pops up, the nova drops and takes off half his health. then the elementals kill him in a snap.

solo as shaman lvl20
before start the event, just prepare with stoneskin totem and fire nova totem, start the event, and after fire nova totem explodes put the searing totem. 2 water elementals will come to help, and thats it. To help and get sure of success, use use the gift of naaru on yourself.

Just be prepared. Two Water Spirits will help you, but I still had all the aggro. Wasn't careful (healed, but not enough!) and he killed me at the same time the spirits killed him. Ran back and looted.

He's spell hits hard and aren't interuptable, just spam heal urself and throw in some shocks =)
i did it with 500hp and 1200mana as a 22 shammy... had to heal myself quite alot.. had around 400 mana when he was dead...
Hint, Lesser healing wave =P

maybe im bad, but this guy hit me for 138 fire blast followed by 3 uninterruptable arcane missles for 65 each, I was dead in about 7 seconds..anyway, make sure you heal alot and dont underestimate him like I did :)

I just did this solo at level 20 and it was really quite hard. Yes you get some water elementals to help, but this guy's arcane missiles hit really, really hard. They took me from 100% health to somewhere in the region of 5% health in one go and you can't interrupt it with earth shock..

In the end I managed it by setting up stone claw and searing totem before starting the encounter and then healing through the arcane missiles while the elementals deal with Tel'athion.

I suspect that the difference between those who had it easy and those who had it hard as aggro - lets the elementals keep aggro and youll win easy

This quest to kill Tel took me forever to complete because when i arrived at the camp there were no barrels beside the tent, so i waited and waited and the barrels still didnt respawn

I had him spawn as an Elite the first time I tried it. His damage was similar to his normal mode but he had a lot more HP.

I was able to interrupt his frost bolts, but I would advise against that, as they do much less damage than his arcane missiles. If he can't cast frost, he's more likely to missile.

1. Get Stoneskin Totem up.
2. Get Fire Nova Totem up.
3. Activate the Barrels.
4. Set Searing Totem after the Fire Nova Totem explodes.
5. Interrupt his Spells with Earth Shock.
6. Heal yourself while Earth Shock is on CD.

Well, I tried the method of interupting his spells but all 3 earthshocs i tried failed to interupt him, and I died. So i decided to try something different and it was to me, very successfull.

I dropped the stoneclaw and fire nova totems and triggered the barrels, but rather than stand back i rushed him. He hit me with a single 62 dmg frostbolt and from that point on only used his staff in melee. The ele's and myself crushed him, the fight took less then 15 seconds, and i didnt even need to use healing wave. Just a lesser was an overheal, after the fight was completed.

I was lvl 21 for this fight.

I don't see the big deal.
I went there, didn't set up a totem, and I won within 3 secs. It must of been the fact I was a level 21 twink at the time.

The barrels respawn in about 3 minutes.

Be sure to watch your HP. When he hits, he hits hard. I suggest dropping a Stoneskin Totem in advance, and using your Gift of the Naaru soon as the battle starts.

Easiest way to do this is to just heal yourself, and throw a shock or two. the 2 elementals will beat on the guy.

Set your taunt and fire totem, heal yourself and let the elementals beat the boss. Easy stuff.

I agree with the above post that says to just set the fire and taunt totem and stay passive. YES, he will hit you initially, but I ran behind the tent and let the totems and elementals do the work. Just keep doing lesserhealing, and then he'll come for you once the taunt totem dies, and you'll probably have to engage in combat. I didn't have mana but I just put it on automatic combat and did lesser healing curse or, if I had no mana, gift of the naaru. the elementals will follow him if he comes to find you, too. I think at the end I had enough mana to drop my fire totem agian, too. But passive is the way to go!

Careful because he CAN burst pretty decent damage somehow so try to keep your health up.

Start out with an Earth Shock so that he can't use arcane missle on you. then he's a cake. besure to heal yourself.

i died once trying this. Mainly becuase i lost track of my HP when he did that Freeze Trap Arcane missisle Crap. like the other posts, just pop out sum totems and Gift of Naaru and ull be fine. He drops really quick is u use Fire Nova+Frostshock

guys he is at 25,40 and I am a lvl 20 enhancement spec shaman, and I sliced right through the guy. I had to throw 2 heals on myself and thats without gift of the naru....

All this advice is crap I say! Don’t go passive! I died three times after following this advice... Lay down your totems and beat the crap out of him and forget healing. He was dead in no time this way. Worked like a charm. xxx

I went to vindicator's rest at 30,46. From there I traveled over the hill behind it to avoid undue encounters. I found the camp near the base of the western end of the hill at 26,41.

After using the water skin on the barrels, Tel'athion appeared. I smacked him once with my mace just so he knew I was there, set a searing totem, and got ready to spam lesser heals. The elementals soon began to pound on him. I smacked him one more time with my mace for looking so ugly, and as the searing totem did its thing I then stepped back and healed myself as needed. Tel'athion died fairly easily.

Well, I dunno if I could call this easy. I was amazed after reading the comments here. The boss is a challenge since he nukes the hell out of your rounded up 500 health. I dropped down to 40~ healthpoints in like 5 seconds, but when I got my health up again, it was easy to finish him off.

I did this as a 21 enhance Shaman, pretty simple, put a stoneskin totem down and a searing totem and pounded on him, used gift of the naaru and lesser healing wave once, with the water elementals helping it is pretty simple, but make sure to start casting a heal if he starts using arcane missiles, they hit fairly hard and don't let u get a cast off. The camp is at 26,41 or shortly Northwest of Vindicator's Rest, Good luck!

This is way to easy.. ha have like 550 hp and he dies very easy.. The only problem is if you have low hp.. he does 60-70 dmg with his arcane missiles

everyone who says that this quest is hard and you need to be passive is stupid. he has around 400 health and you can just Earth Shock his ass and then he cant do arcane missiles..

Too easy, placed my stoneskin totem, my searing totem, destroyed his little barrel, earth shocked him once, and hit him with my mace till he died. =D Easy as a lvl 20 shammy with only quest gear, if you can't do this quest, then you are a mega noob and should roll something else.

Borrowing from another thread, "Anything is easy if you are several levels higher". You get the quest at lvl 20, not 22 or 23, but 20. For all the Shaman out there who do the quest when they get it, you need to watch your health points and heal often and early.

Ok, I did quest, What you should do is, Let attack you and the elementals will start to kill him, Do an earth shock and then, He will die or do another shock, Dead. Easy as pie :)

This was the easiest out of all of them. Just set totems and the elementals help you. But watch your health. Lasted about 5 seconds.

The Camp is 25.40, he does high dmg with spells so just do earth shock to interrup spellcast. Hes not so hard. 2 Water Elements will help u to.

Be careful not to stand too close to the tent when doing this. At level 20 it's already a bit of a rough fight, but when I almost had him down I had him pushed up against the tent and he evade bugged, despawning the elementals and healing himself to full. Naturally I got pulverized. I tried it again and this time stood near the water, even though as enhance it was a bit tough to keep mana up and not melee. Managed to keep healing myself while the elementals kill him. When he got low on mana he came in for melee and then I took him out.

exact coordinates of where the guy is. Just click the barrel on the edge(it should have the little golden gear for your cursor) and he'll come out.

Soloed at level 20 elemental spec, didn't heal even once. Just set up your Stoneclaw Totem + Searing and use Earth Shock on him as soon as you see his hands going purple, that means he will cast Arcane Missiles and God they do heavy damage. If your earth shock is still cooling down just use lesser healing wave because you will get massive damage from all the missiles. Repeat the earth shock + Searing totem combo until he dies.

PS: You also get two elementals to do the job. It would be way harder if they didn't spawn.

The small camp is at 25, 41. For those of u without grid mods. Follow the river southwest stay on the south side of the river. You'll see a Small wooden structure with barrle in front of it thats the place. Hope this helps :)

Easy...Solo'd at 20...heres the kicker...the 'adds' are two pure water elementals coming to HELP you. Set your totems first, and make sure to heal at about 25%. Coords for me were 25, 40. Its real close to where ya grind away to get the samples for the quest two steps back.

this fight is ALL about interrupting his casting with earthshock... put enemy cast bar up, as all shammys should... (everyone really) it really helps

I killed him about 3 times, and the head never dropped... So I abandoned the quest and reaccepted it, and tried again. It still didn't drop. I opened a ticket with a GM and while waiting, I continued killing him. On about the 8th try, the head dropped... along with a Keller's Girdle (Keller's Girdle Made my day :)

died at first try, but at the second it went down easy as lvl 21 shammy. the elementals are actually on your side.. so no use on thinking about who to concetrate on. its the one barrel that staicks out, easy to find:)

Was orange to me, got unlucky, and he resisted all 3 of my earth shocks.

So I really just healed through his arcane missiles and let the adds beat on him for me. Still pretty easy at 20.

Found camp right where posted. At lvl 22 I was sure I could do it alone, but two water elementals showed up to assist and Tel'athion got punkd. :D NO reason this couldn't be done at 20... Total XP for the series at lvl 22: 9640 (Not including the new Discovered areas)

Cords correct .... did it at 20, place totems, then gift of naru? (spelling) concentrate only on boss, took a lesser healing pot ... the 2 spawns despawn when boss dies.

I have determined where the corruption is coming from. It is the by-product of some demented research and you're going to put an end to it!

Just to the southwest of the Foul Pool is a small camp. There you will find the 'research' of Tel'athion the Impure. This is where he produces the filth that has been seeping into the island's water.

Use the pure water you obtained from Ashenvale to destroy his cache of barrels. That will be sure to bring him out.

We will have an end to this!
