This quest is not marked 'elite' because you really don't have to kill the 2 elite guards to get the named ogre. Notice that the guards have "sober" in their names? So what I did was this:

1. kill the 2 non-elites but pulling them out of the tent/hut.
2. go as close as you can get without pulling the elites and place a "Bloodmaul Butebane Brew" on the floor. This will pull the named but not the two sober guards.
3. Kill named ogre.
4. Profit :)

...easy as cake when you remember that most ogres are not able to resist the smell of some brew.

Actually, you don't even need the brew. The named ogres will pull solo without the guards, even though that seems highly unlikely.

You need the beer. Kill the 2 non elite guards around the bosses, and then lay the beer just out of aggro range. the "sober" elites won't come, but the boss will see the beer and run at you. Thats why its not marked elites - you don't have to kill the elites at all =)

It seems crazy, but it is true. You do not have to mess with the elites for the kills.
I was having my doubts so with Mugdorg I killed the non elites before trying to pull him. I then pulled him and the elites stayed put. I stood straight across from him and got as far back as I could.

Droggam is a caster. I was able to pull him without pulling any of his adds. He does come forward some but I moved out of sight so he would run after me. That way I could be sure he died away from the elites for an easy loot.

So yes, crazy as it might seem this is an awesome method and it works. Though, I can picture them changing this in a patch.

Hey gang, wanted to say that I too just tried this, I'm L66 NE Shadowpriest, I simply went in and Mindsoothed the two guards on left and right (non-elite) didn't kill them, and just wanded the dude in the middle and ran out. He came out just peachy, no libations (beer) needed!

you dont need to use anything.... just kill the first guy on each side, then pull down the middle. Droggam is a caster, so you need to back up quite a bit before you can attack him to not agro the elites. easy as that

If you are a caster (or any ranged class), make sure you pull him before killing him. Otherwise, you'll need to aggro the elites (and kill them, or just stunning them and run) to loot the boss.

I learned it the hard way.

69 Warrior: can't pull Droggam without Elites.... using rifle from as far away as possible. Weird eh? To make matters more complicated, I've already turned in the keg so I can't get his Elites drunk.

What to do? I might have to get my hands dirty here!

Solo as a 67 Rogue. Killed Mugdorg using strat above, but like stated above, you can't get Droggam without the elites since he casts a fireball if you range pull (which chains the elites).

Distract/Sap one Elite, used AP trinket/Evasion and burned down Droggam. Looted and Vanished/Sprinted. Had to slug a Super Health pot, and made it out with about 15% health.

Not easy, but doable.

First time I tried pulling with a dot but elites came too and died. Then Pulled Mugdorg on second try with a Soulfire and he came straight forward without elites. Had already killed other guy so I don't know if it would work with him but I am assuming so since it worked with him. Did not need the brew :)

this gets easier still if you are friendly with ogri'la - the ogres are all yellow and will not auto-aggro... zoiks!

Duno why but Bloodmaul Brutebane Brew didnt work :/ I though that it was too far away so I came closer and put it again but it also didnt work and I aggroed the ogres. But I just feared them, nuked the non-elite, got killed, run back and lotted the bastard ;)

i just layed a frost trap down adn pulled the droggam (elites came with every pull with him not a problem with other one) and they came into the frost trap (not Drog...he was casting) so i FD and the were still in the trap and then re-pulled Drog without elite mobs. All this is void for Mugdorg as he can be pulled alone.

Went easily as a frost mage, I just nuked the quest mobs, while I kept them frozen with my pet. Looted the mob, froze the elites myself and ran for it. They stopped following almost right away after I got outside the hut.

If your a frost mage this is way quicker than running down for the kegs.

At 66 i was able to use the brew to do all 3 named pulls. But as a priest you can use mind soothe on the elites to get abit closer if the named isnt responding to the brew.

Note: even though your VW melts like butter, DPS down the named one and then Howl of Terror when the guards come your way. Loot & dash.

Useful Information for patch 2.2:

As of Patch WoW patch 2.2 you can't pull the boss away from his elite bodyguards the usual way anymore using a weapon pull, this will make his bodyguards come for you.
OBS! As it might have been mentioned in above comments however, you can still use the "Bloodmaul Brutebane Kegs" to lure the ogres out - this includes him!

How to:

Kill the front 2 guards, usually a brute and a shaman - these can be pulled one by one and is easy to kill. Next go exactly far enough in to stand halfway between the bonfire and the entrance, inside the room, plant a "Brutemaul Brutebane Keg Brew" on the floor and back up. The Boss will react immidiatly but if its too far away he won't notice. If u accedently place it to far away wait for the CD and try place one closer in. Once he reaches the brew you can freely pull and kill him without having to deal with his bodyguards!
Remember! - It might be adviseable to bring more then 2 brews incase u accedently place one wrong, and its annoying having to run out and find anther in the middle of the quest!

yup stormdelf Cords are correcet , soloed this quest as a frost mage 17 / 0 / 41 , was pretty easy i just had to kill the first 2 on the left and right , when i pulled , the 2 elites guards diddnt hit me they were standing in their place

Ret Paladins can solo thie easily with 1 brew. I solo'd it as a 3/11/43 with repetence. Just get in range with Repetence of the 2 non-elites. Use Repetence on 1 at a time and pull back, waiting for it to wear off. By the time you finish off the 1st non-elite, your repetence should be or close too off its cooldown.

NOTE: If the non elite is a shaman, hug the wall that they're closest to so that you'r out of their line of sight and are forced to come to you.

Once the Non-Elites are down get a few steps away from the fire. TAKE THIS STEP SLOW SO YOU DONT AGGRO THE ELITES. And place 1 brew. Once he's aggro'd, pull back to the doorway just in case you accidently move to close and aggro the elites.

I posted this tactic because i didnt know the range of the brew so I kept miss placing the brew. So use this if you had the same problem as me.

Ok, so here's what I did as a lvl70 feral druid.
first i killed the nonelite mobs, than i pulled the elite with faerie fire out of the cave. When you pull one, the other will come too. So in front of the cave i used roots on 1 elite mob and cyclone on the other, than i quickly ran into cave, killed the Droggam/Mugdorg, loot and ran away

When you place the beer to pull the mobs, wait for the de-buff https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/spell=35240 to kick in. It will help a little bit if u are sololing, After u see the ogre drink 3 times, the de-buff should take effect.

As of 2.4.2 you can ranged pull Mugdorg and Gorr'Dim (In the next quest) without a keg (Used my last Keg for Droggam)

Mugdorg can be pull with ranged weapon or spell but if you try to pull Droggam you also pull guards.

As a Priest you can easily solo that quest. Just Mind Soothe the Elite guards and pull the boss away with Mind Control.
It won't aggro the guards. :)

Confirmed Cords are Mugdorg - 41, 59 and Droggam - 38, 54. I supplied several screen shots for you all. On both of the named mobs I just pulled the two non elites with a gun and then went as close to the fire as I could I backed up let Gorr'Dim drink the bear then I let them have hahaha. The other quest was just easy. You should only need 3 beers to do the first two quests in the chain.

Easy easy easy. Kill non-elite mobs standing near both quest targets. Then draw quest targets using thrown, arrows, guns, or whatever even while they stand next to elites. Elites do not move.

I had my pet aggro them first, then wyverned one, trapped another, and put the beats on the 38,53 guy. My pet died slightly before the guy died, but when my pet died, the guards ran back to where they were ^^

I'm not sure, but he might not be social with those guards!

mugdorg was easy

whatever i tried with droggam didn't work. tried to pull from sides, from front a pull back. everything kept pulling the elites.

I am a hunter and he has 2 elites 66 next to him
and 2 non elites I was able to pull him away alone
mana drained him then trapped then when away he was away
from his allies put pet on him feiged death backed up
and killed him to get blade

I am not sure if this is just luck, but you can pull the boss' with out the elites with an avenger shield or at least I was.
I kinda used up all the brew before I could get to the boss' so this helped me out alot

Every class can solo this quest to include pallys. I know pallys dont have a range capability other than the Avenger's Shield which shouldnt be used in this casebecause it will bounce to the elite adds. All a pally has to due is get a few of the Bloodmaul Brutebane brew and place one near the fire after clearing the other none elites first. The named ogres will come for the brew and then just pull the rest of the way.

Just wanted to add... I have now done this on 4 characters of mine, and with all of them I have been able to pull Mugdorg seperately (he pulls and walks straight to u thru the fire) no trinkets, no traps, no saps... Thought this might make it a bit easier for those trying to fight all those mobs at once. Seems that u have to kill the adds for Droggam though.

The quest was simple. As a 67 hunter I was able to single pull the 2 non elites, easily kiling both. Then I single pulled Mugdorg and killed him, never aggroing the 2 elites. For me the elites were not linked to Mugdorg.

As a 67 Pally, I cast Holy Shock on each of the two-nonelites in front and pulled them 1 at a time. To pull the named boss I used the Brew keg in front of the fire and ran back to do a line-of-sight pull since they are casters.

This tactic also works to kill Gorr'Dim in the next quest.

Not sure if they changed something in the patch or not but the two elite guards aggrod when I ranged pulled the nameds. Had to go get Bloodmaul Brew and use that to pull the named away from the elites before attacking him.

This entire quest chain goes along nicely with "The Bladespire Ogres" and also the quest for getting the ogres tanked. Make sure to pick up both of those before going to speak with Vindicator Vuuleen for the first time.

Use the Bloodmaul Brutebane Keg from the quest "Getting the Bladespires Tanked". His elite guards won't drink it, but the named guys in the back will come out for it. If you place the keg right, you can solo pull the named after he comes for the keg.

lol.... I used the Bloodmaul Brutebane Brew to get the first Brute pulled on the right side. After killing him I went along the right side as close as i could get to the elite without aggroing him, pulled out another Brew and it got the attention of Mugdorg without pulling the elite... so worked like a charm. Going to test the same strategy on Droggam now.

These guys are idiots. Kill the two non-elites. Then use the "Brew" from previous quest. Place towards the fire and the "Boss" will run out from between the two Elites. Kill him without aggro'ing the Elites.

And no one cares what level I was, or what char I was, just give details people.

I was able to pull murgog without pulling any of his buddies. I have the Hypnotists watch which helped. as a 67 hunter I'm still usually the queen of aggro, but I walked straight in and pulled him solo. Oh, I also had my pet on passive mode and waited until he was out in the open. Make sure you clean out the open area first

Okay, as a 66 Rogue there is no need to sap the elite and blind the other and struggle to kill the guy and vanish. As with every other class simply kill the first non elite mobs then pull the main ogre with your ranged attack and own him.
I saw a level 69 undead rogue fail miserably trying to kill the elites and lmao. Easy quest for you guys :D

I'm not sure if alcohol has anything to do with this, I didn't use it but it was in my inventory. More feedback will reveal the answer.

The key is the the mobs including the elites are not linked so you can pull them one at a time. This includes Mugdorg and Droggam who can be pulled from between the elites on either side. Easy as a 67 priest. Coords corect, Mugdorg 42,59; Droggam 38,53 (both the buildings with large greenish entrance.

After clearing the non elites, get within about 5 yards of the front of the bonfire and drop a brew. This will cause the boss to come without the elites.

I noticed that the beers you collect from a previous quest do not get used up if you use the item from the quest log as opposed to your inventory. This gives you spare beers to use on the two bosses.

I know it's strange, but I do want to stay in this cage. It gives me the perfect opportunity to do what I came here for; to gather information on the Bladespire.

I can leave at any time, but I would like to have my sword and shield back.

Two of their leaders have my trappings. Droggam has my sword and Mugdorg has my shield.

If you have need, obtain and use the brew from Bloodmaul Outpost to the south to thin out their help and entice those two, but beware their sober guards who don't drink!
