With the material cost I was suprised and disappointed that the item was used when releasing the bot. I assumed that it would have a cooldown similar to a battlestandard, but it doesn't.

The one time I made one it expired before a rogue came by.

Agreed, this is a somewhat expensive and impractical schematic -- mostly for amusement. The gaps between pulses (several seconds) makes it quite unreliable to unstealth rogues and druids.

Yes, I will just not make it, too much in the way of mats and not very usable, compare it to a hunter's flares and it is very useless. A continual pulse (plus a longer duration), or reusability would make it more worthwhile..

Now the alarm-o-bot works better and it stays in inventory after using - in my opinion very nice to unstealth rogues and druids or hidden mages :)

Wrong. This item IS consumed after you use it. However, you are able to loot it's body after it dies, which allows you to recover most of the mats. After my first one expired, I was able to loot:

1 Fused Wiring
1 Star Ruby
2 Rugged Leather
1 Thorium Widget
3 Thorium Bars

Consider a shadomelded NE hunter in the Flag Room in Warsong Gulch with Aspect of the Beast up and their cat in prowl, tucked back in the flag well watching the mini-map with Track Humanoids. I do this alot and it's a very effective strategy for surprising the inc flag ninjas.

Most WSG teams rely on 1 or 2 stealthed players to position at or near the flag ahead of the main flag carrying force. Some even expect a single stealthed druid to be able to do the carry alone without support until they reach mid. This bot solves both problems.

The hunter and other defenders can stay out of sight until the bot alerts, then the hunter tosses a flare finding the stealthed rogue/druid, marks them, and the defenders pwn them before the rest of the flag carrying team even arrives.

(heck in pve it would even be useful in the room just before Draikkisith in BRD where the Blackhand Assassins gank the party)

on my server horde rogues kill everyone who lands the gryphone... even though they dont get honor or anything so i guess this should be for high levels
