Клинок Александроса Моргрейна. Будучи чистым, обладал невероятной силой, способной крушить целые толпы нежити.

Название "Оскверненный Прах", используемое в бета-версии локализации - неверно. "Ashbringer" переведен как "Испепелитель"

Клинок, надетый на игрока, имеет свои реплики (голос падшего Моргрейна), которые можно расслышать обладая долей внимательности.

01. Когда-то я был чист.
02. Я сражался за справедливость.
03. Меня звали Испепелитель.
04. Я был предан своим же орденом.
05. Уничтожен Кель'Тузедом.
06. Вынужден выполнять чужую волю.
07. Мой сын был свидетелем моей смерти.
08. Алый орден вспитал в нем ярость.
09. Истина скрыта от него.
10. Алый орден утратил свою чистоту.
11. Бальназар, орден - они испортили моего сына.
12. Убейте их всех...

Реплики можно услышать не имея клинка. Достаточно ввести в строке чата в игре /script PlaySoundFile("Sound\\Creature\\Ashbringer\\ASH_SPEAK_ХХ.wav") , где ХХ - номер реплики

После патча 3.0.2 его нельзя получить, потому что старый Наксрамас удалён из базы данных игры, как и босс с которого он падает.

Долго фармил накс на 70м, жаль нам так и не упал данный сворд :( оч хотелось посмореть на его действие на деле, а не по наслышке ;)

Летая в поисках Саронита по Ледяной Короне увидел вара с ним. Спросил, что да как, как он работает, слышны ли голоса. Он сказал 2ничего про голоса не знаю... Первый Ашбрингер за русскую Орду получил паладин Enera на сервере Molten Core. Сейчас он играет на свежевателе душ под ником Энера.
Если попросить его, то сводит в Скарлет Монастырь посмотреть на эвент бесплатно
Меч падал раньше из сундука четверых всадников в Наксрамасе, в старой его версии на 60 лвл и 40 человек. Дроп был довольно маленький. Возможность получения этого меча убрали в предпоследнем патче перед запуском Wrath of the Lich King. Сейчас получить этот меч НЕВОЗМОЖНО

Энера трансфернулся на Гордунни за Альянс.

-----По поводу бафа "Подчинение воле испепелителя" - этот баф вешается на чара, как только он одевает этот меч. Единственное, что делает этот баф - менят цвет чара на более тёмный. Так же примерно раз в час, если у вас включен звук, меч говорит одну из 14 фраз своим голосом, рассказывая в целом краткую его историю.
Так же, одев меч, члены Argent Dawn (Серебряный рассвет) будут атаковать вас и будут враждебны для вас.
----- По поводу дружелюбия с алым орденом Да, если меч у вас в инвентаре (даже если он не одет), то члены алого ордена в Алом Монастыре (кроме грейв ярд части - склепа) будут дружелюбны для вас и будут вставать на колено, если вы подойдёте к ним близко. Однако остальные члены (Стратхольм, длань Тира, Чумные земли) будут по прежнему враждебны для вас. Ни какой репутации с алым орденом он не даёт. Просто монстры в Монастыре становятся зелёными, не атакают и становятся на колено при виде Вас.
-ПО ПОВОДУ ОЧИЩЕНИЯ ИСПЕПЕЛИТЕЛЯ - Это просто миф. В базе данных игры и на вовхеде есть линк на легендарный испепелитель, но не более того. Игрокам ни когда нельзя было получить его и ни какого квеста на очищение меча нет. Нет даже ни какого квеста. Единственное, что есть - это небольшой эвент в кафедральной части Алого Монастаря. Который заключается в том, что вы подходите к последнему боссу, появляется его (босса) отец и убивает его. ТАк же замурованный инквизитор в маленькой комнатушке рассказывает вам о том, что это за меч и что очистить его уже ни как нельзя, так как он полностью осквернён. Она рассказывает, что у Могрейна (истинного владельца меча) остался ещё один сын. Этот сын - кузнец, который стоит на окраине терокара и даёт БСерский квест. Ни какой реакции при виде меча он не проявит. Так что не верьте тем, кто говорит, что был когда то квест на очищение меча. Близы правельно сделали, что не дали игрокам получить этот меч. Было бы слишком легендарно.
----- По поводу головы Нефариана и принца в Дир Мауле - В дир мауле в библиотеке стоит большое количество НПС которые изучают древние писания в библиотеке. Если походить и поговорить с каждым из них, то один из этих ребят расскажет о том, что их принц (Босс в библиотеке) очень умный эльф, много времени проводит за книгами и всё знает. И что если принести ему голову нефариана, то он многое может рассказать о испепелителе. Но это тоже очередная небылица - если убить Нефариана, полутать с него голову и принести принцу - ни какой реакции на это не будет вообще.

Кому интересна история меча так же может пойти в инст в Пещерах времени - Старые предгорья Хилсбрада (Old Hillsbrad Foothills). Придя туда идите в Южнобережье (Southshore) в таверну. Там, вокруг стола сидят: Александрос Могрейн, Тирион Фордрин и его друзья. Он рассказывает о том, что нашёл загадочный кристалл в трупе лейтенанта орков из Запределья. Этот кристалл он принёс со своей родины. Кристалл является воплощением Тьмы, его эссенцией.
После этого рассказа, ребята приходят к выводу, что кристалл надо уничтожить и начинают атаковать его заклинаниями Света. Кристалл постепенно начинает менять свой цвет и в итоге очищается от Скверны и становится из чёрного красным. Моргрейн понимает, что теперь этот кристалл стал чем то вроде Эссенции Света. Они решают сделать из этого кристалла оружие, мощь которого будет направлена против нежити, и, посовещавшись решают дать имя этому оружию -Испепелитель (The Ashbringer). После чего все договариваются молчать об этом, что бы враги не узнали о том, каким артефактом владеет Лордерон.

И сейчас можно услышать все реплики из Осквернённого Испепелителя!
Просто, берём и создаём 58 уровня ДК, заходим в игру и идём к несчастному Моргрейну! Он в Оплоте На коне сидит... Подходим, так чтобы стать "под" коня, и вы услышите всю "РЕЧЬ" Испепелителя) ( не забудь в настройках игры поиграть со звуком, ибо некоторые игроки , в своё время, не могли слышать не только данные реплики, но и как "поёт" Сильвана в Подгороде)

~~Минус~~Конечно же он не долго будет с данным мечом ходить... ~~если~~ Как только вы выполните все задания за ДК, то в конце Моргрейн(Могрейн) отдаст Испепелитель Тириону Фордрингу, а сам будет с двумя мечами ~~(не Испепелителями)~~ ~~ходить~~ появляться в игре!

я тока так и не понял... кто что за Моргрейн в Монастыре, что ЗА Моргрейн в Оплоте Чёрных Рыцарей, и что за Моргрейн ДУХ в конце Задании за ДК....(Прочел Комикс про Испепелитель и мне всё стало ясно. Советую и Вам прочесть данную литературу. Мир ВарКрафта в то время так и увлекал за собой)

С Выходом Пандарии у Паладинов появилась возможность на Время воспользоваться "Анимацией" данного меча, при использовании таланта Святой Каратель.
А начиная со следующего дополнения (ЛЕГИОН) Паладины получат в руки данный Меч в Качестве Артефакта, который нужно будет прокачивать.

Сын Могрейна, Рено был юным членом Алого Ордена, что не помешало тому заключить сделку с Кел’Тузадом с целью уничтожения отца. В замен Рено должен был занять место Могрейна старшего во главе Ордена. Началось вторжение Плети. Однако первые же силы, брошенные Плетью были разбиты Могрейном, который уничтожал тысячи мертвецов Испепелителем. Даже после потери им меча сил интервентов все равно было недостаточно. Все же Могрейн пал, его сын, посланный на помощь лишь забрал Испепелитель и вонзил в тело отца. Но такое злодеяние вновь изменило меч. Это снова было оружие Тьмы. Рено бросил клинок и доложил, что тот безвозвратно утерян. После этого Кел’Тузад превратил Могрейна старшего в Рыцаря Смерти. Был лишь один свидетель предательства Рено, инквизитор Фейрбанкс, однако он был погребен под грудой тел на поле брани Стратхольма. Инквизитор бежал оттуда только через несколько дней. Фейрбанкс вернулся в Монастырь Алого Ордена и обвинил сына Могрейна в убийстве. Однако, Рено уже успел взойти на место отца и казнил Фейрбанкса в потайной комнате Монастыря. Те, кто поверил инквизитору откололись от Ордена и образовали Серебряный Рассвет. Рено благополучно возглавил Орден. Фейрбанкса заменила Верховный Инквизитор Вайтмейн. Судя по всему, Фейрбанкс получил инфекцию в Стратхольме и превратился в живого мертвеца.
Во время ивента в Монастыре дух отца убивает сына-предателя и спасает душу Фейрбанкса, который и рассказывает эту историю.

Мало у кого остался такой эпик меч лично мне чудом повезло когда выбил его в наксе за день до обновление вещь и правдо прикольная пока до 80 не докачался не расставался с ним=)

я это перерасказываю...
короче ктото говорил что Артес давным давно мог выбрать между своей доброй стороной и злой - оно было типо сна:
стоит Артес а рядом с ним Маленький Артес (все самое доброе в нем) и Нер' Зул (все самое злое) и вот он стоит и выбирает. А обе его стороны его подбадривают на свою сторону:
Мелкий - "... а помнишь как мы ствоим папой играли?.. (и т.д. и т.п.)
Нер - Прикончи его! Ты ведь хотел ЭТУ силу? ТОГДА получи ее!
Мелкий - Нет! пожалуста! ненадо! (опять срывается и начинает беззаботно говорить о том как хорошо Артесу было когда он был добрым)
Нер - Убей!
(так они немного поговорили и Артес принимает свое решение - Он замахивается Фростмоурном на Мелкого, тот прекращает болтать, становится угрюмым, кажется что он становится злым, и грозит басом Артесу)
Артес приканчивает душу Мелкого, тот издает визг, и испаряется... В Артесе что-то меняется...
Нер радуется, хвалит Артеса, говорит как они будут всем править... Но тут Артес поворачивается и прикладывает Фросмоурн к шее Нера и говорит что только ОН быдет править Плетью - и унечтожает Нера. Он остается на произволе своей судьбы... Хотел сказать Души... правда в нем его души мало-то осталось...

Ашбринджер это спящий Наару и хз что будет когда он проснется....
Мне кажется что еслибы Тирион вонзил бы клинок в Артеса то наару от слияния со светом и тьмой проснулся бы...(Тирион ето свет а артес это тьма)

БРЕД! Сам мечь с Наару ничего общего не имеет! А вот Кристалл из которого был сделан мечь был осколтом Павшего Наару. Когда Наару погибает он меняет сторону - был Наару (добро) умер стал зло!
Из-за этого какрас когда кристалл ударили светлой магией то он ее поглотил потомучто... он и есть Свет... просто... эмм... какбы сказать... он изменяет полярность когда подвергается каким либо силам.... нет слишком учено =) ну чето типо этого....

Меч обалденный просто, один минус - для 60-го уровня -25 выносливости это... ну сами посудите... столько HP отнимает... Очень тяжело будет с таким мечом... Вместо него лучше вставить себе Мощь Менетила, это намного круче!

Могу добавить - именно название фракции Пелельный союз происходит от названия этого меча. Ведь он и связывал Серебрянный Рассвет и Рыцарей Чёрного Клинка (точнее Дариона Могрейна).

Очень крассиво выглядит меч. До этого не знал историю Моргрейна, теперь просвятился, всем спасибо.
Почитав что тут пишут, особенно про его реплики очень вспомнился двуручник Лиларкор из BG2:SoA (а именно, из канализации). Он постоянно кричал во время боя, ну и другое время.

Первые паладины в Орде появились 5 декабря 2006 года (патч 2.0.1, выход обновления The Burning Crusade).
Старый Наксрамас просуществовал до 14 октября 2008 года (патч 3.0.2, выход обновления Wrath of the Lich King).

У паладинов Орды (а также шаманов Альянса) было без малого два года, чтобы успеть получить легендарные клинок и посох.

И да. Не рекомендую пользоваться обсценной лексикой без нужды. Выглядит нехорошо.

В игре World of Warcraft до выхода дополнения Wrath of the Lich King у игроков была возможность добыть Осквернённый Испепелитель (англ. Corrupted Ashbringer), одолев всадников цитадели Наксрамас (включая Александроса Могрейна). Игроки, чьи персонажи экипированы Осквернённым Испепелителем, время от времени могут слышать в игре реплики, издаваемые голосом Верховного лорда. К тому же все рыцари Серебряного Рассвета при этом становились враждебны игроку, а представители Алого ордена — наоборот, дружелюбны. Если в это время войти в собор монастыря Алого ордена, то запустится небольшое событие — после того, как игрок подойдет к Рено (в игре: Командир Могрейн из Алого ордена), появится дух Александроса Могрейна, который воскресит своего советника Фэйрбанкса и убьет предателя Рено. После этого Фэйрбанкс расскажет историю предательства отца сыном.
Советника Фэйрбанкса можно встретить в игре и не имея меча. Он в виде живого мертвеца находится в потайной комнате в правом крыле собора (в игре: Верховный инквизитор Фэйрбанкс).
После выхода дополнения Наксрамас был перенесён в Нордскол, а место Могрейна в четвёрке всадников занял Барон Ривендер из разрушенного Плетью Стратхольма. Осквернённый Испепелитель можно видеть в руках Дариона Могрейна во время выполнения вступительной цепочки заданий за рыцарей смерти. В конце цепочки Дарион, преданный Артасом, передаёт меч Тириону Фордрингу, в результате чего Испепелитель очищается. Позднее можно найти Тириона Фордринга в Ледяной Короне с очищенным Испепелителем (в игре: Верховный лорд Тирион Фордринг)
.Пещеры Времени
В подземелье Пещеры Времени: Старые предгорья Хилсбрада игроки имеют возможность отправиться в прошлое, посетить таверну Южнобережья и увидеть своими глазами момент обращения кристалла от Тьмы к Свету рыцарями Серебряной длани.

Создание

История меча началась во время осады Пика Чёрной Скалы в ходе Второй Войны между людьми Лордерона и орками Старой Орды. Лорд Александрос Могрейн, предводитель ордена Серебряной Длани, обнаружил мощный артефакт, оброненный тёмным орком-колдуном — чёрный магический кристалл. Кристалл был «живым воплощением тьмы», настолько мощным, что от одного прикосновения к нему рука Александроса омертвела, и даже вся мощь магии света не смогла исцелить его. Рыцарь в тайне сохранил артефакт в надежде когда-нибудь обратить его могущество к Свету.

Когда Плеть начала свое вторжение в Лордерон, Александрос рассказал о своей находке другим лидерам Серебряной Длани, собравшимся в Южнобережье. Он выдвинул теорию,что если есть кристалл — воплощение тьмы, должен быть и обратный ему — воплощение света. Один из присутствующих назвал его идею бредом и попытался силой света уничтожить кристалл; его примеру последовали и остальные. К удивлению всех, кристалл поглотил направленный на него интенсивный заряд магии Света и изменил свою сущность, став воплощением чистейшего Света. Притронувшись к нему, Могрейн был исцелён.

Для создания из кристалла оружия против Плети Могрейн отправился в Стальгорн к королю дворфов Магни Бронзобороду, который и выковал легендарный меч, влив в него весь свой гнев, вызванный смертью его брата Мурадина в Нордсколе по вине Артаса. Название «Испепелитель» было дано мечу самим Александросом Могрейном.

Дальнейшая судьба

Старший сын Могрейна Рено под влиянием демона Балназзара, скрывающегося под обличием Верховного рыцаря Датрохана, заманил отца и его советника Фэйрбанкса в ловушку Плети у Стратхольма и убил его Испепелителем, выпавшим из руки Александроса. После этого Кел’Тузад обратил Лорда Могрейна в рыцаря смерти. Меч был осквернён, а душа Александроса заточена внутрь него.

Младший сын Могрейна Дарион, присоединившийся к рыцарям Серебряного Рассвета, в надежде спасти душу отца отправился в крепость Плети Наксрамас, где одержал победу над всадниками смерти и завладел Испепелителем. Повинуясь голосу отца, доносящемуся из меча, Дарион пришел к Рено, после чего восставший дух Александроса казнил своего убийцу.

Во время атаки армии Плети под предводительством Кел’Тузада на последний оплот Серебряного Рассвета, часовню Последней Надежды, Дарион Могрейн принёс себя в жертву, заколовшись Испепелителем и освободив душу своего отца и энергию меча, для уничтожения полчищ нежити. Но его постигла судьба отца — Кел’Тузад обратил его в рыцаря смерти.

Предположения о происхождении кристалла

Как внешне, так и по свойствам (способность излучать как чистую негативную энергию, так и чистую энергию Света) кристалл, из которого был создан Испепелитель, очень напоминает мёртвого или впавшего в кому представителя расы наару — насколько вообще к наару применимы выражения «смерть» и «кома». Учитывая его дренорское происхождение, можно предположить, что орк, с тела которого Могрейн снял кристалл, нашел наару в одном из разграбленных дренейских святилищ и пытался использовать его как могущественный артефакт. Одним из аргументов в поддержку этой версии является сильное внешнее сходство кристалла, из которого был выкован Испепелитель, и останков наару М’ууру после его гибели в сражении на Плато Солнечного Колодца.

Ивент в Алом Монастыре испортили, его уже не пройти, НПЦ реагируют только снаружи. Теперь остается только вспоминать о былом. Зря близзарды трогали старые данжи и старый дроп. Одни сожаления...
Кстати говоря, с пандарией у меча изменился стат выносливости с -25 на -24.

Если придти с этим клинком в Монастырь Алого Ордена - начнётся ивент, во время которого все враги будут кланяться перед обладателем меча, также, они будут дружелюбно относиться к игроку (зато представители Серебряного Рассвета становились враждебны владельцу этого меча). В конце ивента появляется дух Александроса Могрейна (тот самый Испепелитель, в честь которого и назвали клинок) и, после диалога, убивает сына-предателя. Потом, там где можно найти Инквизитора Фэйрбанкса (в обычном режиме, в виде нежити), мы находим его в иной форме (призрак). Он и рассказывает нам историю о предательстве Рено. Также он говорит, что очистить меч не выйдет - его сущность поработила Тьма. Но другой сын Могрейна - Дарион, может создать новый меч.

Эм, старый Наксрамас же убрали с выходом WotLK? В то же время были добавлены ДК, то есть чисто теоретически ДК не может иметь этот меч. Но вот недавно зашёл на армори одного небезызвестного ДК (Raegwynsolo http://eu.battle.net/wow/ru/character/stormscale/Raegwynsolo/simple) и оружием у него был именно Ашбрингер. Единственный способ получить его - купить на черном ауке, но насколько я знаю, он там не продается.

С версии 6.0 получить предмет таки можно. Но нужно быть невероятно удачливым. Невероятно.

Испепелитель может упать с лавки утиля 3-го уровня, что в гарнизоне. Вообще там может упать любая БоЕшка. Абсолютно. Может, даже Фростоморн можно лутануть.

А ведь если объективно посудить, моделька данного меча полное г...вно. Довольно простая модель, довольно низкое качество прорисовки да и в общем и целом он скучноват В реале такому оружию только на стене висеть, им не повоюешь(как и всеми любимым Фростморном и уж тем более клинками Аззинота). Но его ценность для ЛОРа варкрафта делает его желанным.

Увы , меч удален из игры и ни на черном рынке ни где его не получить. Однако , если всё же очень хочется увидеть его на своем персонаже можно скачать програмку tMorph и ввести .item 16 22691 , но кроме вас его никто не будет на вас видеть :)

Почему бы не добавить старый накс в режим путешествия во времени (как произошло с Черным храмом или Ульдуаром) или скажем поставить на вход накса очередного бронзового дракона (как скажем около Выжженых земель или Силитуса), который возвращал бы нас в старый накс? Уверен, многим такая идея не понравилась бы, но какой тогда смысл в вещах, модели которых(которые к слову так много народу хочет заполучить) пылятся на аккаунтах, большинство из которых давным давно заброшено и многие не могут позволить себе эти вещи на черном рынке, потому что данный способ требует невероятных денежных затрат, которые мгогие игроки не могут себе позволить

В случае если персонаж экипирован этим оружием во время битвы с Артасом в ЦЛК - Тирион становится враждебным и начинает атаковать персонажа.

This drops from the Four Horsemen in Naxxramas. This sword isn't that great especially because of the -25 stamina. However, it begins a quest that should take you to Outland where you can get the purified version which is a great sword that is legendary. It has a cool story to it and is an enjoyable quest to undertake. Especially when you go into Scarlet Monastery and everyone bows down to you if you have it equipped. Make sure you go to the cathedral instance and talk to Mograine =).

very much dissapoints me that this can only be used by two handers... there is no such other weapon like htis and the only reason id want it is cause several of my freinds just walk past the mobs in scarlet monastary and when they get to the boss pull out better weapons... why can they do this for a 1 hander? and if there already is a 1 hander plz tell.

For cleansing the blade, you need to remake it.. Fairbanks said that the old was too corrupted, so we had to find his 2. son and make a new..

The first was crafted from a evil crystal from a orc warlock, that came from Dreanor..
The only place I can think of is back in Illidans Black Temple.. Since he has taken use from corrupted fell orcs, I guess a VERY low droprate, maybe close to same droprate as Bindings or Eye of Sulf, just from some special mobs...

When you got that tainted crystal from fel orcs that original came from Dreanor, just like the the one the first Ashbringer was made of, then it will start a quest..where you will have to gather a lot of mats.. Maybe some sort of Black Temple mats.. Very sure that a lot of Primal Nether.. and a big load of Holy things..

The tainted crystal can maybe only be seen or taken from those who have the sword..

From what i have read this sword will have almost nothing to do with recieving the ashbringer as if you posses this sword and talk to Fairbanks he clearly states that "The sword is beyond clensing" so the only thing this will have to do with the ashbringer is that you will have to have CA to obtain Ashbringer

Ok this is the part were i'm confused

On wowmodelview, I looked up Ashbringer, it had 4 items.

Ashbringer, Cleansed Ashbringer, Corrupted Ashbringer and The Cleansed Ashbringer.

Ashbringer looked sorta holy-ish, smaller, and instead of the skull on corrupted it had a light glowing ball thing.
Corrupted looks better imo

Does anyone know if when WotLK comes out and Naxx moves will there be 2 Naxxs EPL and Northrend Naxx or just the Northrend one?

If it's just the one I guess that all previous loot from Naxx will be unobtainable after the E2 and therefore anyone who wishes to get this (for loregasm's sake) will have to get it before WotLK. (therefore will also have to try and convince guild to do some Deathknight wing runs to get it.

I have the Sword, i always play with WoW-Sounds and i did a LOT of PvP back in the 60ies + even Leveling with it, believe me, it never ever spoke on Life Servers. And you know what?

I read all the posts about going into, obviously, Scarlet Monestary with this equipt, and it make me wonder.. What about Strat Live? There's Scarlet Crusade in there too, infact -the- Grand Crusader himself (really a demon, but thats a whole 'nother lore story) resides there. Or even non-instance places like Hearthglen and Tyr's Hand. There's even SC at Light's Hope Chapel that talk about the Ashbringer, though I'm not sure how safe it would be to go there while being hated with AD. ;>.> Just curious how those areas would play out. Something new to ponder.

my take about the dowrated guy is simple.
Naxx will move to northrend while another CItadel,
ruled by another lich will remain to look after the scourge's job on
plaguelands.
As allways blizz will just rename some things around.
Like Kazzak, he moved in outlands and another lieutenat got his spot...

there is no living side in Scolomance so i guess u mean Stratholme, but if u read a post just a few inches up someone has tested taking it through all o Strat and other places and nothing happens except in the Scarlet Monestary.

And regarding other weapons with lots of lore behind them, do not forget Atiesh, gretstaff of the guardian. Medivh's old staff and before him his mothers (aegwynn).
only real event thing i can think of about atiesh besides transporting party members to kara is that when engaging Shade of Aran in Karazhan he does some emotes like "where did u get that? did HE send you?!" referring to his son Medivh ofc. But he only does that if someone has the atiesh staff equipped during the start of the battle.

There are rumors that when Naxx moves to Northrend, the level 60 Corrupted Ashbringer will still be a drop from the reworked Four Horsemen event. Probably a very low drop rate, but I think Blizz wants to keep the content alive for the ability to get the legendary weapon.

The level 60 version of the sword won't be a likely drop. I would be hella *!@#ed if I was running the new and improved Naxx and got a weapon with a level 60 req and a 90 DPS. Consider the fact that Naxx is likely to be a pretty high end raid. It probably won't be the second highest, but it will be pretty up there. Kel'Thuzad is a powerful opponent, and Lieutenant of the Lich King. Current Tier 6 weapons have between a 139 and 149 DPS. Corrupted Ashbringer was a VERY nice weapon back in the day. In fact, it had the second highest 2h weapon DPS in game, only beaten by Might of Menethil, which had a 95.3 DPS. Now consider that for a second. A 53 DPS boost from the best 2h weapon in game Pre-BC to the best in BC. If this keeps up, level 80 instances will be looking at around 200 DPS. Having an item drop on a low droprate, with 110 DPS less than the other 2h weapons dropping, simply for the memories attached for only a small number of players? No, there's going to be a Corrupted Ashbringer, as well as a likely quest line to get your new, fancy Ashrbinger Reborn (or whatever they call it), but it won't be the level 60 version. It's gonna be a nearly 200 DPS monster of a weapon.

In the Final quest in the line of Death knight starting quest, in which the Death knight along with a large Scourge force lead by Highlord Darion Mograine attack Light's Hope Chapel. After a number of defenders are killed, he will appear and Highlord Darion Mograine will surrender after a great number of the Scourge force is killed. The Lich King will appear and briefly fight with Highlord Darion Mograine and he attempts to kill Tirion. Highlord Darion Mograine uses the last of his strength to throw the Corrupted Ashbringer to Tirion, which upon catching it is seemingly purified. He then with Ashbringer in hand confronts the Lich King, who in turn retreats shortly after. Afterwards he revives Highlord Darion Mograine and then promises that Arthas, the Lich King will be defeated and call for a union of the Argent Dawn and the Knights of the Silver Hand.
Tirion battles with Arthas. This is the story how new Ashbringer will born.

in case some didn't noticed the ashbringer that in wotlk comes in hand of the New Highlord of the Argent Crusade (yeah argent dawn and scarlet crusade merged) is from the other son of Alexandros Mograine (aka Highlord Morgraine) who died in "an attack by Light's Hope Chapel' which is veryfied by the Death Knight quest line where instructor Razuvious mentions "even the mighty Naxxarmas couldn't sustain an attack by light hope's chapel" so the new ashbringer is the one forged by the new Mograine,Darion Mograine leading the Knights of the Ebon Blade the death knight order which betrayed Arthas. In the cinematic you see the guy with the New Ashbringer try one shot the Lich King but he fails and so Arthas challenge him to go to Northrend where " the next time we meet is not going to be on a holy ground "
And to conclude the whole matter the CORRUPTED is staying that way the new one was given to an NPC . /cry

so we see that Mograine's family had a Father who was a Raid Boss , one son that became a Raid Boss and a son that stayed all his life a 40 level Dungeon paladin style boss.

Currently in the beta, a Corrupted Ashbringer is wielded by Darion Mograine, the other son of Alexandros. Darion is now a Death Knight, and a lieutenant of the Lich King. During the Final quest of the DK starting zone, he leads a charge upon Light's Hope Chapel, during which he finds the blade is resisting his commands. When Darion arrives at the Chapel, he is defeated by Tirion Fordring, who shows him how devoted to the Light he used to be in a mini-cutscene kind of thing. The Lich King turns up, and Darion tries to attack him, but is easily knocked aside, and the Lich King curses Tirion, who starts to die. Darion throws the Corrupted Ashbringer to Tirion, and upon Tirion catching it, it is purified, and Tirion, now healed, fends off the Lich King, who flees.

During this, it is mentioned that there is some extremely powerful holy artifact underneath LHC, which may or may not have contributed to the cleansing of the sword.

And how are you supposed to dualwield a unique item ? Loot system made you pass on it if you allrdy had it. That was before patch 3.0 and Naxx was removed after the patch which means you cant obtain a second one even if they would have removed "unique-euqipped" tag.

It didn't get deleted from the database, it just isn't available to players anymore (or rather the boss that drops it doesn't exist anymore) . The ones that got it back in the day still have it afaik.

This sword has unique traits to it making one of the most renowned item in game and it is no longer obtainable. I wish Blizzard can do this to the Frostmourne or some other lore item that has "The will of The Ashbringer" with all the nicely done whispers when you equip it.

Unfortunately the blade does not speak to you. And it never has... I got the blade way back and have used it every now and then and not a single whisper has been heard :/
So unless they fixed this in 3.x.x the blade remains silent even though the whisper files themselves are pretty much the coolest thing in the game.

To be honest.. I think how the Ashbringer became pure in tales 3 was way better than in the game. To release Mograine's soul by stabbing him is soo much better than Darion Mograine jus throwing the sword, and Tirion Fordring strangely turns it pure jus by catching it. I kno there's probably more to it, but I still think there's a lack of creativity...

in alterac valley the bg if u either kill an enimy player or a enimy gurd a piece of paer drops somthing to do with extereme angeling when u read this it tells u about the ashbringer is in a lake haha not so simple there is only 1 page and big suprise it doesnt tell you were it is and there has to bee over 100 lakes and rivers in wow so i thought there has to be somthing in ah that tells your or a clue btw to verifiy lellik0147 the light of power under lights hope name isnt mentioned the main quest objective was to discover the light of dawn but that was just to watch the lickh king betray u and get wounded by ashbringer

It appears one is friendly with the folks in SM now, even with the sword unequipped. It needs to be put into the bank, if you want to run SM. I haven't tested it at LHC yet.

You cant get it because it was the freakin weapon of man called "The Ashbringer" (obviously). Hes not even in Naxx anymore, so even if Ashbringer would remain corrupted, there wouldnt be a new one from the lvl 80 Naxxramas.

Blizzard cares about Cashbringer more than Ashbringer nowadays :>...

No you will not ever see a corrupted Ashbringer ever again. They may let us have the purified version, but my guess is that if they do it will be like TK weapons where you lose it after you kill Arthas or something like that.
After all, it's Tirion's sword now, and if I were him I wouldn't give it up. But who knows? Maybe he comes to aid the raid in Icecrown and sacrifices himself to help kill Arthas after we do the dirty work, then someone gets to loot the sword. Just speculation of what could be.

looking back on the ashbringer brings up the question (at least for me) what will become of frostmourne? will blizzard allow it to players just strait up? or will they make you go through some huge chain to purify it (after all ner'zul would be dead so it should be purifiable right?) or would blizzard just not allow it? i cant wait to see what blizzard does to continue the legendary blade's lore

I don't think it'll be purified, nor do I even think Arthas will die. Arthas "is" the Lich King (He did merge with Ner'zhul upon putting on the helmet), if the Lich King would die, all of the Scourge would get a free will, and eventually would die out. The game's not really whole without it, and what becomes of everything in Northrend when almost everything but a few zones and some other stuff are of the Scourge? Sure, there are a few living races among the Lich King's ranks, like the Vrykul.

I don't even think Frostmourne will drop at all. Arthas might be a raidboss in later content, though he never will be killed, I'm sure of it. Frostmourne won't drop either. What could be possible is that Arthas leaves a chest with some stuff inside that you get to take when you've "defeated" him. Because of the shattering of Arthas' heart, he is already weakened (Went down from like 30 mil to 8 mil or so as seen in the Tirion's Gambit quest). When the Icecrown Citadel raid comes, I think Arthas' HP will be about 8 mil on 10-man and about 30 mil on 25-man, reason I find for such is that 25 man is done later than 10 man and by that time Arthas may have regenerated his full strength.

This is all speculation and shalln't be counted for.

What more would support this is that, stated a bit above, Tigole said it was a mistake to ever let the Corrupted Ashbringer in the hands of players. This probably means Frostmourne won't be available either.

World Changing Item would be hilarious for a joke actually. They could make it so... if your guild downs Arthas, the killing blow of Arthas gets the Frostmourne, equips it....

They have to be the Raid Boss for a week... or until they get killed, and the cycle continues... So that person goes -> another instance and waits for someone to come into the citadel :D :D HAHAH anyway... would teach you to kill the damned king ... Everytime you wipe a raid, you get epix from the players XD You have to play Bejeweled while you are Arthas, because your actions are not under your control. You then just kind of... live or die by the sword :D

Its cool, the scene you see at SM actually happens to Darion Mograine (High Lord of the Knights of the Ebon Blade) when he was a palladin while he was part of the Argent Dawn and during the Arthas fight Blizz could bust out sooo many people to help you fight Arthas

"Old Naxxramas" should be implemented in a future patch (or expansion), accessed via the Caverns of Time, and Corrupted Ashbringer should be strengthened to be lvl 80 (or 90, who knows). I would love to carry this blade, even in it's corrupted form, with pride...

Note: This weapon, along with all T3 gear, is no longer attainable because 40-man Naxxramas does not exist. I does not loot anywhere in 10-man or 25-man. But, the actuall Ashbringer (http://www.wowhead.com/?item=13262) can be seen held by Highlord Mograine at the Argent Vangaurd in Icecrown. (Can also been seen when the Argent Crusade is created during the Battle for Light's Hope Chapel (only available on Death Knights).)

I am sure (99% :P) that Darion Mograine will defeat the Lich King in the final battle .. with the Cleansed Ashbringer.

As known from the final scene of the DK questchain Alexandros Mograine said to his son, that one day he will weild the Ashbringer, but that day was not today. And Darion himself said this, before throwing the corrupted blade to Tirion Fordring.

I think that Tirion Fordring will be defeated in the battle against Arthas or at least he'll be disarmed, and so Darion will take his father's blade and say:

"Now the time has come, father." ( xD) .. or sth like that ^^

You know the rest .. power of light etc. --> peace ^^ --> Rebirth of Lordaeron.

I am as sad as you all about that fact, but noone can get it anymore!

It dropped in Old Naxxramas above the Eastern Plaguelands from the 4 Horsemen. Now that Naxx was taken to Northrend and Mograine has been replaced by Baron Rivendare, the Corrupted Ashbringer cannot drop and noone is able to pick it up.

The same happened to Atiesh, Grandstaff of the Guardian. Its fragments also dropped in Old Naxx.

The only way to get one of them is to be GM on a privet server ^^

I'm not very sure, if there still exist the effect of fraction changing...
a friend told me that he has tested the Scralet Monastery Event some days ago on his server. Actually he said, that he hasn't notice anything different when he entered the cathedral dungeon, which means that the NPCs still be enemy targets.

because of that fact Ibelieve, that the event has been patched out some time ago. And so it could be possible that you don't become unfriendly or else with the fraction Argent Dawn or Argent Crusade (which are in any case two different things) by equipping the Corrupted Ashbringer.

Moreover It's no RP if you stand with the Corrupted Ashbringer beside Tirion holding the Cleansed one ;) ... it doesn't fit :P

Actually, it did make its way into wrath of the lich king, just not as many players expected it. (Warning: If you by some chance have not made a death knight there are a number of spoilers, so read on at you digression =D!)

Once you create a Death Knight you are under the command of Highlord Darion Morgraine (Second Son of Scarlet Command Morgraine, aka "The Ashbringer" (from whence the sword draws its name)) who is under the command of the Lich King. You work your way through a series of quest and you find yourself at the end with The Battle for Lights Hope Chapel. You and your fellow Death Knights along with hundreds of other scourge minions fight on against The paladins of the silver hand and the argent dawn who are defending the chapel. Eventually you and your fellow Death Knights are defeated after the appearance of Highlord Tirion Fordring. Once it is just you, Morgrane, and a handful of other Death Knights remaining you find out that Scarlet Command Morgraine is buried here and you see a short cutscene which is a memory from Darion's Childhood and is a short discussion between him and his father. This is also where you find out you were just used as tools to draw out Highlord Fordring from hiding so that the Lich King may kill him. There is a short discussion between the Lich King and Fordring and then the Lich King Proceeds to cast a spell greatly wounding and crippling the paladin, encasing him in a dark sphere. Darion Morgraine is furious at how he and the other death knights were used and sent to their own death, he then proceeds to throw the "Corrupted Ashbringer" at the Tirion Fordring (Still within the black sphere) and this shatters the sphere freeing Fordring. This causes Darion to fall to the ground and then Fordring takes up the ashbringer some how cleansed by this action and Fordring uses the newly cleansed blade to force the lich king to retreat. It is after this confrontation that Fordring declrares a unification of the knights of the Silver Hand and the Argent Dawn to join as one and form a new Argent Crusade, furthermore Highlord Darion Morgraine renounces all ties to the Lich King and vows that he and his fellow Death Knights will fight against the Lich King and his scourge.

Actually there is a possiblility that a person could get this and the old naxx gear, in strat UD there is the old raid portal to the left of the slaughter house. Blizzard never deletes anything major they design, in case they ever want to use it again. I would look at a way of getting into it. (Without hacking would be smart).

blizz should add a new short rewardless quest for the players who missed the scripted SM event now that the corrupted ashbringer is not attainable anymore.

my guess is that when players reach......... say............. lvl 50, they could talk to some nameless NPC outside of SM, it could be called "Ghost of the past" this ghost offers a 1-time only quest where you enter the cathedral, and you see a living version of Darion Mograine with the corrupted ashbringer, walking down the halls of the cathedral.

and when he get's to where renault is, the ghost of Mograine senior does the whole scripted event of death and redemption, after all of this darion talks to fairbanks, and after the player has the dialog, darion ports you out and that's it, the ghost is phased out so u can't take the quest anymore.

to make it fair, this quest won't have any rewards, only the chance to see this nice event.

why I want this? because I like many other players started playing wow after WOTLK, and thus, I have missed one of the finest events on the game.

by adding this "ghost" that allows players to relive the scripted event in the cathedral, blizz ensures that all players get to enjoy their lore, and not just those that were arrount in vainilla wow doing naxxramas (wich were very few actually)

The Ashbringer is the sword of former Highlord Mograine of the Scarlet Crusade. The blade was named after Mograine and his uncanny ability to smite the undead to nothing but a flurry of ash. Mograine was betrayed and murdered by his son, Renault, with the sword. Recently it has been discovered that Mograine was reincarnated as a Death Knight by the lich Kel'Thuzad, and he still possesses Ashbringer, although it has been defiled by his murder and transformed into Corrupted Ashbringer.
Background
After the Silver Hand was dissolved following Arthas' betrayal, the remaining leaders formed the Scarlet Crusade. Mograine was appointed to the head position of Highlord, and Ashbringer became the most lethal weapon in the Crusade's arsenal - so much so that it quickly garnered the attention of Kel'Thuzad.

Balnazzar, in the newly possessed body of Grand Crusader Saiden Dathrohan, sought to use the Crusade as a machine against the Scourge and rectify the Burning Legion's past failure to defeat the Lich King. Mograine, however, potentially jeopardized his plans. Balnazzar made a pact with Kel'Thuzad to eliminate the Highlord: the bane of the Scourge would be destroyed, and Balnazzar's reign would continue unchecked. He corrupted Mograine's son, Renault, and made plans to set a trap for the Highlord. Renault led his father and High Inquisitor Fairbanks to Stratholme, where the legions of the Scourge awaited them. Renault fled and hid while Mograine and Fairbanks fended for themselves. Fairbanks eventually became trapped alive under a pile of corpses. Mograine alone continued to smite thousands of the undead with ease, but was eventually wearied and dropped his blade in fatigue. Renault came out of hiding to exploit his father's vulnerable state. He took up Ashbringer and slew his father, which simultaneously corrupted the blade by using it for such a treacherous act.

Unable to wield the corrupted sword, he left it with his father's body, and reported to the Crusade that it had been lost.

Renault's betrayal was witnessed only by the unseen Fairbanks, who could only listen in horror as Renault murdered his father. Fairbanks remained there until he regained enough strength to leave the besieged city. He fled to the Scarlet Monastery where he told of Renault's actions to anyone who would listen. Those who believed broke away from the Crusade and formed the Argent Dawn. but alot of guys wouldn't believe him and killed him. His body was thrown in a hidden chamber in the Scarlet Cathedral. That is the story of the ashbringer. Yes i copy and pasted, but thats the info for ya!

It's a shame to lose the Ashbringer event. Blizzard decided it has to be removed, because the player basically takes the role of Darion and that's a big lore no-go.

Though i still think it could be remade into a great CoT 5-man or maybe use the Caverns of Time for one-man quests? Joining Darion as AD volunteer/s to Naxx where he fights the Four Horsemen and takes the Ashbringer. And then go to SM with him and see the scripted event. (All while fighthing off interfering Infinite dragonflight yadayadayada). Or play as Darion, i don't know. There are lots of possibilities with a great tool like the Caverns of Time, i don't see a valid reason not to preserve this event.

The Ashbringer is a weapon that has interested me since I first heard of it, back in Pre-BC (which was when this game was the best in my opinion, but I'm getting off topic). Unfortunately, original Naxxramas was closed after the release of Wrath of the Lich King, which sucks cause my shaman just hit 60 and I wanted to gear him for pvp, but whatever.

The Ashbringer would be a cool sword to enter into this game with a quest chain that requires you to do all the original Raids (40mans) but they are re-vamped to make them a lot more powerful (taking about 25 80s in ICC gear, etc) to be able to get the required items to create the Ashbringer, then when you have this Corrupted Ashbringer (a more powerful version of this of course), to kill the Lich King with it would cause Mograine to be set free, blah blah blah, and he will pass down the Ashbringer to you, making you the new ashbringer, and giving you the title of "<NAME>, The Ashbringer". Would be pretty sweet, till everyone got this item and just /facerolled over everyone in PvP.
I can understand why Blizzard isn't going to release this to anyone (or Frostmourne) but it would be awesome to have either one of these swords. I think that more weapons such as this should be introduced to World of Warcraft. The Corrupted Ashbringer let you do a side-quest lore thing in SM, where you were friendly with the Scarlet Crusade (a reputation unattainable without this sword) and it caused everything to be completely different when using it (in this instance and when around people of the Argent Crusade, which NO other weapon does). I think it would be a really cool idea for Blizzard to release something like this either just before we are able to fight the Lich King, or shortly after the release of Cataclysm.

Blizzard, thanks for releasing this awesome weapon, but I'm curious.. Why enter this item into the game, then when you re-release Naxxramas as an 80 raid, why did you remove this item, and the weilder from the game entirely?

1. The Scarlet Monastery/Corrupted Ashbringer Event works only once?
2. If you're in party, everyone can watch the event?
3. If you don't have the achievement kill count for Scarlet Commander Mograine, the fact this event one-shots him will count for the achievement?

Awww... I don't get why it isn't available to players anymore. I really wanted that sword. I mean, can't it be a reward from some quest that Highlord Darion Mograine gives out or something? I get that Tirion is supposed to get it, but if you haven't noticed, some things conflict like that. Like how Taelan somehow aged 15 years in a decade:

i dont know if anyone noticed this but while you are a death knight and mograine has this sword you occasionaly hear the whispers of the sword however there very faint i think it might be because your doing the will of the litch king through darion mograine meanding that by being associated with it you are under the will of the ashbringer

This item will currently bug under extreme circumstances when putting random enchants on, giving it the appearance of the original Ashbringer wielded by npc's. Due to the obscurity of this item I'm sure it just hasn't been seen enough, but odds are it will be fixed sometime soon... enjoy roleplaying as Mograine while you can and don't relog!

I can confirm that the Оскверненный Испепелитель does in fact proc the whispers that you can manually listen to via scripts. I was swinging on a target dummy for several hours with a guild member nearby and he heard it as well. So I guess it is not broken, just a very low proc rate. This is as of patch 4.2.2 on live realms.

I can confirm that Corrupted Ashbringer is Transmogable. Omok from Burning Blade is dual wielding them, transmogged over Masterwork Elementium Deathblade.

And this is a lvl 60 raid from classic wow. I don think a lot of people today have this sword. Isnt unique becouse they try hard to get it, is unique becouse they played first or could get the chance to do it.

EDIT: He has apparantly removed or leveled it up, he used to have it transmogged on his heirloom.

The character "Alexandròs" on outland realm EU has this item transmogged on his level 60 DK, don't really know how this possible tho.
(He approved of me using his name on wowhead, have it on printscreen)
He has it transmogged on his heirloom sword, that is bound to battle net account and have sent it after he transmogged it on his other char, brilliant! :)

So now we have proof, it is "transmogable"! ;)

It *is* transmog-able. Both Greengoo (A) and Omok (H) have one on Burning Blade USA, both have it transmogged. The buff and the whispers do NOT activate on a transmogged weapon though.

Oddly enough this weapon was buffed in the latest patch for some reason. It is currently -24 stamina as opposed to -25.

Sadly the event in Scarlet Monastery Cath that was triggered by a player wielding this weapon was removed with the introduction of 5.0.4.

The only remaining *nod* to the event or the weapons lore can be found in 1 NPC in the new Scarlet Halls instance.

If you guys are wondering why the debuff went from -25 stamina to -24 stamina it's because the gun/relic slot has been taken away from the classes that could wield it (Warriors and Paladins NOT HUNTARDS), relics and guns almost always have stamina on them and blizz didn't want people to lose more stamina so they let you keep 1 stam point!

I really get quite disappointed when I see that people want this weapon in the black market auctionhouse.

Do you guys honestly want to turn one of the most epic items in the game into a stick that screams "Look at how much money I am able to spend!"?

All the weapons character would be stripped away from it and then be known as just another item from the black market instead of an old and interesting relic of the past.

I dont know about you guys, but i rather have the corrupted ashbringer be a symbol history and mystery rather then a shallow symbol of wealth.

And belive me, i aint saying this because I have some unique snowflake syndrome, I simply think that this game could use a little depth once in a while.

Just to clarify, I do not own the sword myself, I just think it would be a shame to end the long storyline involving the weapon by having some random npc just out of the blue sell it on the black market just because some people think it looks cool or want yet another bling icon for their character.

And I really do wonder how that npc is supposed to sell a weapon that does not even exist in the first place in current lore.

This blade is truly amazing. The most legendary weapon in game. This is a bold statement, but its true. Proof? Well, for 1, it has more comments than Ashes of Al'ar, which is easily THE most hunted mount in the game. It is also has more lore than any single weapon in game (arguable with Frostmorne, but Frostmourne isn't obtainable by players). Furthermore, it got its legendary reputation because it dropped from one boss from a raid that was discontinued at the start of wrath. Now, you take into consideration that less than 2% of the world of warcraft player-base even experienced the original Naxxramas. And for those that DID experience the raid, who's to say who got to the 4 horsemen (bosses that drop the blade). And those that did, what if the blade didn't drop? So the rarity of this sword, combined with its lore, fame, and its special power that you gain when entering the scarlet dungeon, makes the single most legendary blade in the World of Warcraft.

The weapon came from the four horsemen chest back when Naxxramas was a 40 man raid and required you to raid hardcore back in Vanilla and was slightly still difficult for endgame mains in Burning Crusade. (Not as difficult as AQ40 for BC)

You could HAVE gotten it back in World of Warcraft <-> Burning Crusade.

Darion Mograine has some long history with this weapon in a way. Papa Mograine wielded this weapon in a way not really, he actually practically created this weapon with the help of a dwarf. (You can see the scene in which Mograine complains about the Dark Shard burning his one hand though turning the undead around him into ashes in Southshore in the Caverns of Time; 70 BC instance.) Papa Mograine then wielded this ashbringer to slay the undead, he was the leader of the scarlet crusade back when they weren't ruled and corrupted by Balnazzar. He was then betrayed by his other son, who was originally the end boss of Scarlet Monastery before it got changed. The Priest who used to be in the "closet" was the priest who saw this betrayal as he hid under a hunk of corpses to save himself. Kel'Thuzad then resurrected Papa Mograine as a Death Knight to fight for him as one of the four horsemen. (Lore-wise) Darion raids the naxxramas with the champions of the light (You and the argent crusade) as he slays his own undead father, he picks up the corrupted ashbringer. Darion somehow becomes undead blah blah and that is how he wields as of now and then gives the only possession of his father now to Tirion. Terrible %^&*ing son.

Call me crazy but for some reason I feel as if the Devs would leave a way to get Corrupted Ashbringer in game for someone to one day stumble upon it just for laughs since everyone wants it so badly. Sort of like how people tried everything in Classic to try to find a way to Purify the Corrupted Ashbinger even though there wasn't really a way.

Recently I found a Death Knight on the Wyrmrest Accord server transmogging a lvl 20 axe to this, the Corrupted Ashbringer. As it was removed in WotLK and is not up on the Black Market Auction House, I'm perplexed by this. Anyone here know how the player could've gotten his Weapon transmogrified to look like this? I would love to re-aquire it on my warrior.

Does anyone know why did the Argent Dawn hated (lore-wise) the holder of the Corrupted Ashbringer?There is no official answer for that.

My guess is that,since the Argent Dawn consists of ex-Scarlet Crusaders who heard Fairbank's warning (including that Renault Mograine stabbed his father with this weapon) ,they considered this weapon as a symbol of corruption.

Edit: Also,why all those downvotes?Did i broke a specific unwritten law or something?

The Оскверненный Испепелитель is the most known vanilla weapon exluded from Naxx40 and everyone obviously wants this weapon back. it sucks that blizz replaced the horsemen that carried this.. fortunately, most of the weapons that drop here is remade into 200's-213's (sarcastically said) because they are easily replaced by Onyxia Lair gear, which is also remade for the 80's. Thnx Blizz, we liked this change.

I am almost positive that this can be bought in the BMAH, because in screen shot 34, that's a DK wielding it, look at the eyes, and he's also wearing the Acherus Knight's Hood. So either it's a hack, or he bought it off the BMAH.

A sword with great lore behind it. Although the monastery event isn't working anymore, they should make this availabale in WoD through a long epic quest chain ( which leads you of course to Outlands ), and, if I may go further, the end of the quest chain should be cleansing it, thus receiving the Ashbringer. All quests could take place in Caverns of Time ( for obvious reasons, traveling to old Outlands and such ).

Pretty sure I read somewhere (a Dev Diary maybe) that the author considered the inclusion of this item as a lootable reward "one of the biggest mistakes s/he had ever made over the ongoing development of World of Warcraft".

That's a pretty intense sentiment, but understandable given the lore behind the weapon, and that a player looting it doesn't really fit within canon. If I ever manage to find the link again, I'll attach it.

Blizzard should make a replica of this sword. Ok, i understand that you can't get the Corrupted Ashbringer anymore because it was used in Wotlk's story with dks and blah blah blah. But the players should be able to transmog this cool sword (the best in my opinion and perhaps not only in my opinion, considering that other players also want this). However, this replica shoudn't be too easy to get (so that we won't see everyone with the weapon jumping around Goldshire) and we should do a long quest chain in order to get it or it should be a reward from the chalange mode dungeons. What do you say? C'mon stop removing all the cool stuff in the game, please. This could be also a reason for some former players to leave the game. Items in Mop were ugly as hell and the removing of old cool items was a big mistake.

This is so many players favourite weapon, it sure is a shame it is not longer available. What i would love to see if they against the odds should add a replica: Make it very hard to get, something in the Insane style, so it is available to those who REALLY wants it. Because it would not be so nice to see everyone running around with it transmoged.

Fun fact: if you have this sword equipped in ICC, when initiating the Lich King encounter, Tirion Fordring will be hostile to you and is killable.

Doing so bugs the encounter and the Lich King will never engage you, however.

this item makes me so incredibly sad. why? because my hunter has it. in bc we did a lvl 70 naxx raid for fun and it was ffa. i did the SM event a couple of times and wore the sword. and what did blizzard do?

they removed the sword AND the event and then went ahead and took melee weapons away from hunters.

so i would give my left nut to transfer this item to my paladin, considering that you can even transmog it now.

i am the saddest owner of a corrupted ashbringer. it is indeed a curse and i wish i had never gotten it.

back in vanilla/mid to end Mists of Pandaria this item used to be able to be disenchanted to Nexus Crystal

If someone thinks that this is removed from the game, you are wrong. There are still people who actually have this and are transmoged. I didn't saw one in the game but I saw it in the armory and it was fury warrior who had these in both hands. So keep believing guys :D

Corrupted Ashbringer was added to Diablo 3 as a legendary 2 handed sword in patch 2.2.0!
Special effect: Chance on kill to raise a skeleton to fight for you. Upon accumulating 5 skeletons, they each explode for 1000% weapon damage and the sword transforms into Ashbringer for a short time. Attacking with Ashbringer burns your enemy for 5000–6000% weapon damage as Holy.

This item's stat bonuses were recently changed. The item used to give -25 stamina as a part of the blade being corrupted. This has now been removed.

in the next expansion, Legion (expac #6), not this rendition, but a whole new version of the Ashbringer will be available to players as an Artifact weapon, a new type of weapon different from the old gm ones. It will be available to Retribution paladins and according to gamescon 2015 it will be picked up from where it fell on the Broken Shore in the Broken Isles. Tirion's fate atm is unknown but it would be best to assume the worst given the wording.

Fair warning: If you see anybody trying to sell this transmog now, it is 100% a scam.

Since 7.0.3, the infamous transmog glitch that would allow you to trade transmogged items will no longer work.

How it was done: The person with CA would party with another player on another realm, enter a dungeon looking for a two-handed weapon, the CA wielder wins the weapon, mogs the weapon with CA, then trades it to the other player, exploiting the 2hour blue text trade eligibility. This only worked cross-realm and didn't work on the same realm.

Unfortunately, they've created extra countermeasures to transmog in-that you must equip the weapon to transmog it, and by doing so forces the weapon to be bound to the character, removing the blue text. Additionally, you may now only place a transmog on an item that is bound to the character. You cannot place a transmog on an item that is not soulbound i.e. some white/grey vendor item.

How I wish my Paladin could wield this, listening to the whispers of the tainted Mograine. I know that we've been given out Ashbringer and it has a secret Corrupted Ashbringer skin, but it's just not the same. Heck, I am not sure if I even like the updated model more than this. This blade is so unique, in so many ways. I can only hold onto my futile hope!

The Оскверненный Испепелитель is no longer obtainable ingame. It dropped in the old version of Naxxramas.

Old Naxxramas was removed prior to the launch of the Wrath of the Lich King expansion.

The Оскверненный Испепелитель was originally wielded by Alexandros Mograine. He was one of the Four Horsemen in the old Naxxramas.

In the new Naxxramas, Baron Rivendare has taken the place of Alexandros Mograine.

When wielding the Corrupted Ashbringer, players could hear the whispers of both Alexandros Mograine and The Lich King.

12 whispers can be heard, telling the sad tale of betrayal and sorrow that befell Alexandros Mograine, the "Ashbringer".

In Wrath there was a warrior who had Scarab Lord mount and even this weapon and he brought me along to the Scarlet Monastery, so even though i never had the chance to get this weapon, I did manage to see the secret event it unlocked "in person" really cool memory from Wrath. Hoping I will get a chance in getting this someday with Classic looming in the horizon.

I tried looking up the warrior since then on armory but he either changed his character name or quit the game. If you ever see this and recognise my character name, thank you for taking me along on the journey :)

According to this interview with Game Director Ion Hazzikostas, and this Wowhead article, Оскверненный Испепелитель will not be reintroduced as transmog, as it was deliberately removed from the game.
