Chromie may still be stuck in a time loop and not appear where you need her to be, but you can draw her out by restarting your time crystal, (re-log) she'll appear on the platform.

If this quest bugs out for you like it did for me (nothing happens after picking it up), just log out and log back in. Chromie will unbug.

The cut scene for this might be the best one I have seen in the game. It seems like they did motion capture and accurate face movements. Most cut scenes look like 1970s dubbed Kung Fu movies.

I agree the cutscene was very good. In fact, the whole quest line is the best I've seen in wow for a long time.
I know it's been buggy for a few people. But at least it feels a little different from the "fetch this", "kill that", 13 a dozen quests we usually get. I can live with a few bugs, if we get better writing.
The map in the murloc timeline was a nice touch, too.
Loved this. More quest lines like this, please, Blizzard!

Warning, if like me you have depression, anxiety or schizophrenia, the whispers here can be quite jarring.
In myself, it triggered a pretty bad depressive episode. (I know what people without these issues might say, if I'm this delicate, I shouldn't be playing video games, or whatever.)
But instead of complaining about it, which I'd love to do, but I won't. I'll suggest what helped me.
Turn your game sound off Control + S by default. Then click combat log, so you can't even read those old god whispers.
Having awful voices popping up saying "You will die" and "Your friends will betray you" is pretty awful. When you have to deal with voices saying that kind of thing when it's not the game sound.
Much love to my fellow people with mental health issues. Hopefully we'll see a brighter future some day. <3
(Just remember to turn your sound back on when you leave, the cinematic with chromie is VERY cute!)

Hi all

I present You Storyline Big Time Adventurer. This Storyline is part of Just Don't Ask Me to Spell It which is criteria for Loremaster of the Dragon Isles.

Storyline in order i'm done:

1. Tumbling Through Time - Speak with 3 NPC: Soridormi 59.5 82.5, Siaszerathel 59.3 82.2, Andantenormu 60.2 81.7. Then Speak with Nozdormu wait until conversation finish.
2a. To the Future! - Use portal and speak with Soridormi
2b. Temporal Tuning - Use portal and fly 47.8 40.8 then use under Flying dragons Chrono Crystal.
2c. Resistance Isn't Futile - Inside portal after finish To the Future!. Heal 10 Injured Resistance Fighter there are a lot of them lying on the ground.
2d. Making Time - Inside portal after finish To the Future!. Kill mobs to get 30 Elemental Essence.
6. Return to the Present - Use orange portal to go back
7a. Temporal Two-ning - Use portal and fly 61.7 61.8 then use under Flying dragons Chrono Crystal.
7b. To the... Past? - Take the portal and speak with Andantenormu.
7c. Murloc Motes - Inside portal after finish To the... Past? Collect 12 Temprgrlglr Mote this are a orbs you just need to cross them. is above the fire
7d. Mugurlglrlgl! - Inside portal after finish To the... Past? Slay 25 small murlocs and 5 Big murlocs.
11. Deathwingurlugull! - Jump on Murloc Hopper and use all skills to take down Deathwingurlugull.
12. Back to Reality - Use orange portal.
13. On Your Mark... Get Set... - Use orange portal.
14. Race Through Time! - Use have 3min 10 sec to get to portal 15.2 58.5 ( any one look what will happen if you will not get on time ? ). To move fast cross buff and avoid white circles that will slow you.
15. Chromie Time - Go to 53.3 44.2 and use Chrono Crystal. CARE ON EYE !
16. Back to the Future - Defend your allies until 100% then movie will start. After speak with Chromie ( is small NPC XD ) another movie will start, After You will get new dragon Cliffside Wylderdrake.
17. Moving On - Speak with Alexstrasza the Life-Binder at the Seat of the Aspects in Valdrakken. Speak with him and after finish this Quest You will be able to do World Quests, Weekly Quest and Adventure Mode.

I don't think people are talking about the real big thing during The Black Empire portal chain. There are 4 voices talking to you during the whole ordeal, each supposed to represent the 4 old gods.

1. Piercing Presence
2. Maddening Presence
3. Observing Presence
4. Knowing Presence

I'm guessing 1 is Y'shaarj, 2 is Yogg-Saron, 3 is C'Thun. 4 is definitely N'Zoth.

The first 3 are constantly blurting random lines. The weird thing is N'Zoth doesn't and his actual lines seem scripted. During the previous quest, he'll say the following upon reaching certain areas

"I... know you. What you were. What you will yet be."
"You will follow him to the deep places. The dark waters will flow in his wake."

When you get to the fight sequence during this quest, he starts blurting out more stuff.

"With many eyes, they will see again. They will drink, and be uplifted."
"Deeper, deeper its roots will reach. Welcoming our embrace."
"Her dreams sing beneath the surface. Our dreams. Our song."

For anyone unaware, the old gods are supposed to be above time and can see past, present, and future. N'Zoth especially was constantly being cryptic about future events, with him referencing the events of Shadowlands, to the future theories that N'Zoth phylactery'd inside The Black Blade, or we'll eventually be clashing with Y'rel and Turalyon.

Could this be referring to Murozond? N'Zoth's return? Xal'atath plotting something?

I was thoroughly creeped out when I popped up in the Black Empire, and of course had to explore. The big pit near the middle is reachable if you're a Drachtyr/DH but you'll hit a kill trigger as you fall in. Interestingly it's given a name despite us never going into it.

Therazane will one-shot you. I accidentally aggro'd her and she started casting a spell named "This Is Gonna Hurt!" that did massive damage. The flavor text on the spells says she was not amused at your attempt to attack her.

Feel free to run up to the big black shadow monster eyeball thing on the final platform if you like. I expected it to kill me, but it doesn't do anything; it's simply a flat texture with transparencies that blocks you from going further.

Once again blizz has dropped the ball on what could have been an epic easter egg of some kind. I'm just now playing this on one of my alts who is a void elf shadow priest, equipped with Xalatath and still has "the gift" from BFA. Not a single reference to any of that in the slightest.

On the one hand, I am glad that Wowhead is listing how much percent the types of foes generate, because I think it'll be pretty useful.

On the other hand, I am suuuuuuuuuuuper frustrated that I figured out "use the Chrono Crystal from your bags" before I killed enough of these punks to be pretty close to the full percent

From another county heard from, some pals running keys accidentally grouped me instead of whoever they had in mind. I would have been welcome if I wanted to run with them instead. However - as far as I can tell - them being phased off me halted the flavorful spawning of continuous foes. (Key plussers, rejoice, your efforts against the insanity of the Black Empire are more powerful than their multi eyeball lords can even imagine.)

BUT NOW I AM STUCK AT 52%. /reload did not work. Log Out (and then immediately back in) did not work. Elementals give no credit, even though they are hostile to me, because they are not hostile to our dragon friend and her charcoal toned .... no wowhead, that isn't a bad word, I do not have any idea why "friend but enemy" is a bad word in your list of remarkably evil words that need punctuated replacements. I am writing this as I am trying Exit completely for long enough to be more than a mere disconnect and see if it "properly unsettles" the black empire again so I can get Credit.

Of course I have destroyed my (warcraft directory)/_retail_/Cache because um, that's what one does when these things go haywire. I sure the heck hope this works.

Otherwise, I see two options.

I can file a GM ticket and wander the worlds like a ghost until my druid is unscrewed up.
I can abandon the quest, and sneaky sneak to wherever it is I'm expected to pick it back up, which ought to still be in this Ancient Black Empire zone
I can wait until MicroBlizz hires a lead QA tech who's methodical as well as reactive to player complaints and actually chases down and has the team wipe out race conditions in the backend code? (yes, I know that's 3, I also suspect this isn't the viable option if I ever want to play again on the character I've had since 2004.)

UPDATE / EDIT TO ADD

If you find yourself in this same predicament, here is the answer that worked for me.

Given the situation: Eternus and Chromie are both safely on the stair instead of spinning wildly in midair AND the counter has stopped advancing.
Do the following: Talk to Chronormu again. If they have a dialog option "let's do this" be ready with shielding and/or your fave flasks and potions to continue the fight, then click it, click it good. Foes will start coming down either of the nearby stair. You don't need to go anywhere.

When you get a chance poke the Extra Action button. In my case I long ago assigned a keybind to it, so I can hit it mid combat. It might not trigger if you're not high enough at percent ... or it might be what's responsible for the halting of percent (possibly to allow players some means to not get swarmed, although if this is the intent, the quest text is Zero Help).

WHAT DOES THE EXTRA ACTION BUTTON DO
The timewalkers and both not-same-faction time dragons concentrate energy on a planned exit-point from this section of what unfortunately is probably supposed to be "the true timeline" and therefore needs protecting even though it's a terrible place.

It won't advance to the cutscene until you also commit power to the nexus being made. It might not be able to yet, if you haven't advanced the defenses enough, so the action button has a cooldown. AFAICT it does seem to debuff the foes, at least.

THE CUTSCENE

There are several worthy moments in this cutscene, though it all goes fairly fast and I'm never sure I shall screencap it all.

Things to look for - if you're a photo op hog, try to catch these

some annoying black empire types held at bay as the shiny gold stuff happens. kaboom!
Everyone else involved falling from the sky into modern Time. When I used my dracthyr I got a screenie of him using his wings :D
For a split moment the oathstone platform has no side-gems and no pillar at all.
whatever gear and form you were in, you land near the base of an oathstone. When I used my druid (the time at which I'm writing this post) I arrived in silver cat shape.

a few almost-nice things are said among various personae.
stick around, there's a bit more discussion to concern you.

Now that you are back at the Temporal Conflux and the modern time, you don't get to turn this in until you chat with Chromie (as gnome, right by you) and express your concern - Is Nozdormu okay? and wait for a bit more about that. (in other words, another cutscene! and a darned good one at that.)

While you're in this area, you can see 3 of the 4 Elemental Lords. Therazane is in the pit, and Al'Akir and Ragnaros are off on either side.
Curiously, I couldn't find Neptulon anywhere, but there is a single water elemental off on the left side.

Could be a complete coincidence, could also be a reference to Neptulon's notorious absence from Cataclysm, where we meet the other Elemental Lords (and kill 2 of them). Neptulon was only seen at the end of the Throne of the Tides dungeon, and in the original version is slorped up by the Big Squid(tm) at the end of the final encounter (although it happens so quickly, and while players are still embiggened by the encounter, so most players never noticed). There was a raid planned in which players would rescue Neptulon, but it was cancelled. The raid entrance portal can still be seen next to the Throne of the Tides entrance.

Description

We're not going to fall through time anymore but we're far in the past. Waaaaay far in the past. "The Titans Haven't Visited Azeroth Yet" far in the past. Getting home is going to be... tricky. But we dragons can do it! We're going to need you to keep those Black Empire minions off our backs though. It shouldn't take too long! I think. Probably. Don't worry about it! Just keep those creepy monsters away and we'll handle the rest! Easy!
