The game has never explained it well because all male night elves have golden eyes in-game, but in lore golden eyes on a night elf are extremely rare and signs of druid potential. But pre-Sundering the night elves believed it foretold a great destiny instead, which is why Illidan being born with them was such a big deal.
Malfurion does have golden eyes today, but unlike his brother he wasn't born with them. His turned gold later, due to his druidism.

I was mounted when I hit the extra action button. I saw dialog against a black screen.

After finishing this quest, I still have a Tear of Elune quest item in my bags which I got in the earlier quest step, In the House of Light and Shadow. It's just sitting there hogging precious bag space, but I'm not sure if I can throw it out 'cause it sounds kiiiiinda like an important thing.

This cut scene is not supposed to just be a black screen, but right now a lot of people are having that issue, a black screen with sound but no picture.

If you are getting a black screen and you want to see the cutscene in-game, abandon the quest and retake it. I was able to see it on my second try.

For those of you who are confused:
Fly to Loriathil in Val'sharah and walk to the triple-bowl fountain that's a few steps away to the west. You'll get a pop-up message from Xe'ra and an additional action button that's hidden behind it. Click the action button, watch the cutscene, and then return to your order hall to turn the quest in.

The next part of this quest, An Unclear Path, won't be available to you until you've reached Artifact Knowledge Level 2. Keep those work orders going with your researcher!

You unlock the quests by getting levels of Artifact Knowledge in your class hall.

Cate Blanchett doing Xe'ra?
I would flip a nut if it were so.
But the 'if Cate is busy today' voice actor for Xe'ra is actually Kate Higgins if my googling is correct.
How do I win a chance at her saying soothing things while I take a nap?

I know this is picky, it's aimed at the programmers.
It's just curious that in the cut scene, there are TWO babies in two different bassinets. Makes sense since there were twins born, Illidan and Malfurion. Ok, what strikes me as curious;

Why the question of two. It’s obvious there are two babies there. This shouldn't have been a surprise to anyone at that point.

Quite annoying how this questline has to return to your order hall after every step. We'd save so much time just doing the 3 memories in Val'Sharah one after the other.

The progress text for this quest reads "When our work is complete, I will be lost to the Great Dark." I believe Xe'ra knew all along that Illidan was going to destroy her.

Description

Light's Heart is to serve as the vessel for Illidan Stormrage's rebirth: my last act of service to the Light.

But Illidan is dead and his soul is lost in the Nether. Before we may attempt to recover his soul, we must prepare the vessel for his return.

Across two worlds exist echoes of Illidan's past. You must venture out and find the echoes.

Start where all life begins, <name>: birth. Find Illidan's birthplace in Val'sharah. Awaken the memory.
