The four leveling Pillars of Creation all reward a level 800 gear item for the final quest. This might be something to consider for the order you'll be doing them in.

The Aegis of Aggramar, at the end of Stormheim (Vrykul Story, Bro), awards the Leg slot
The Tears of Elune, at the end of Val'sharah (That's Val'sharah Folks!), awards the Chest slot
The Hammer of Khaz'goroth, at the end of Highmountain (Ain't No Mountain High Enough, awards the Hands slot
Eye of Azshara: The Tidestone of Golganneth, at the end of Azsuna (Azsuna Matata), awards the Waist/Belt slot

You have the hammer, now what?

Hearth to Dalaran. Go to the center of town and enter the Chamber of the Guardian. (49.05, 47.99) Stand on the center pedestal. You will be ported to the "inside" of the chamber.

Go straight ahead, down the stairs to the large circle. On the wall are spots for each of the pillars. The position for the hammer will be to your right. It will have the "?". Complete the quest and you now have your iLevel 800.gloves.

To exit just go back up the stairs to where you ported in and stand on the pedestal.

Note: If you go further down the stairs you will come to a room with portals to:

Caverns of Time
Shattrath
Wyrmrest Temple
Dalaran Crater
Karazhan

Warning: If you take the portal to Dalaran Crater make sure you have some method of slow fall or buy a glider for 10g from Ricket. (She's standing next to the portal.) (Mages with the portal to Old Dalaran will know exactly what happens here.)

Oddly enough, this is the only one of the four Pillar Quests that refer to the room you are placing them in as "Aegwynn's Gallery". The other quests call it the "Portrait Room" (as does the map).

Aeqwynn was the Guardian before Medivh, and was Medivh's mother. She too was possessed by Sargaras.

Mayla Highmountain's speech when you place it in the gallery:

Can anyone tell me how to pick up the quest for this hammer? I completed the High Mountain questline and only needed to run the dungeon and get the hammer. Then I did a server and faction change to play with some friends. I lost the quest, and can not figure out where to go to pick it back up. I have run the dungeon and am unable to loot the hammer at this point. I don't see any quest markers at Thunder Totem or anything.

For those who have accidentally removed or lost their quest for this, I went back to the actual dungeon entrance, in Highmountain (co ords: 53/70) and can pick up the quest again from Mayla Highmountain.

Quest name is wrong (in-game, not here), for anyone wondering. This quest takes place in Neltharion's Lair, not Eye of Azshara.

I found the quest giver, Mayla Highmountain, in a cave near (but separate from) the dungeon entrance to Neltharion's Lair - so not 'outside dungeon' but a little ways away. Cave coordinates are 53.25 69.16

I found Mayla after running a full run through Neltharion's Lair on heroic (I had hoped the quest giver might be inside?) and the hammer was at the dungeon's end, but could not be interacted with. I then zoned back into the dungeon, with all bosses already dead. The hammer was still there and could now be interacted with, but could not be picked up (quest symbol was greyed out, dialog box which opened on interacting with the hammer had a greyed out 'continue' button. My quest list had the quest in it, but showed the objective 'Hammer of Khaz'goroth' as 0/1 - i.e. incomplete.

I zoned out and changed difficulty to Mythic, and ran the dungeon again. After killing Dargul in that run, and looting his corpse, I was able to interact with and take the hammer.

Went back to Dalaran, used central teleporter, and bume hammer placed successfully.

I am having a strange bug where I have the quest to get the Hammer but it not there. I'm hoping an instance reset will fix it, but it's strange and definitely breaks the quest, and is frustrating when you're a completionist.

EDIT: resetting the dungeon worked. But it was still a bug that should not have happened. Doubt Blizz will anything about such a bug though, especially when it's not common.

Quest was from a cave a fair way around from the main entrance at /way 53.26 69.01

From a version of Mayla Highmountain inside this cave.
