This looks like it'll take a while. Seeing as the rewards from the treasure missions are so meager, I've avoided them altogether so far, but it seems we'll be forced to concentrate on them.

Note that the naval cache missions require 7 counters, meaning you'd rather upgrade your ships to epic from experience missions... It might be worth not chasing this quest just yet - I suspect Blizzard might reduce or change the treasure missions required.

Note that the quest says Naval TREASURE Missions.

DO NOT!, I repeat, DO NOT abandon this quest at any point before completion, as there is no background tracking for the missions completed like there is for the gold and garrison resources needed.

^ ^ When i first got the quest it made immediate note of me having completed 4/25 Treasure missions already, so i thought it'd been keeping track like an achievement would. Figured it worked to abandon it, make room in my quest log, and then pick it back up when i was ready for full completion. Testing Failed. Reset to 0/25. :[

All of my naval treasure missions have been for loot out of my spec, such as warlock, priest, paladin. However, I'm a hunter. Is it the same for anyone else?

You don't need to succeed, just complete the treasure missions. The shipyard is such a suckfest for success no matter what the percentage says, they are total bull. I have lost a ship at 98% which has left me cynical about this whole addition of craptastic futility. Best strategy early on is to just send out any old barge, you get credit for completing regardless. The rewards suck anyway so doesn't matter if you succeed. If the ship sinks oh well. If you do have a ship you don't want to lose, equip an unsinkable from Vol'mar vendor on it.

I started this strategy on one of my toons after two previous shipyards left me throwing things at the monitor. Spending a fortune on equipment and hours of waiting to do missions to fail was too punitive. I have never sent out a mission on lower than 90% and have only succeeded in about half if that, and lost many ships. This latest strategy actually has me further along in the shipyard than the other two whom started weeks earlier. Go figure... I HATE the freaking shipyard.

ETA: I am told in a comment below that you now need to succeed. This was not the case before and I have done this on 4 alts. I stopped using the shipyard so my apologies if this is now not valid. I checked on an alt that hasn't done this quest line and the wording of the quest has changed so this strategy is now not valid :(

This entire shipyard mechanic needs such an overhaul, that it's not even funny. All missions have very little payoff and too much consequence if failed. What is the sense of grinding (very meager) XP for ships when they can be destroyed so frequently? Wake up, Blizzard. What you have here, is the fnckin' textbook definition of BROKEN.

This is complete crap. How about a heads up? had 23/25...fkn 0 now. Just reset this damn shi* yard. Only good thing i got from it was a mount...luck. Surprised that it does not cost 10k to build it.
