The easiest way to do this quest is to go with a party. The charm is a group loot item, so killing as many shamans as you can for the drop is the most efficient.

Party would be good but it's soloable without much effort. I did it on level 18, killing the furbolgs was no problem but I had to go around through Odil'Aran to evade those nasty cultist guys.

If you do this at lvl 18 its kinda useless imo, so its much better or do it alone or with a group at lvl 9+

Easy enough quest (was able to solo as a level 9 druid), but the drop rate is awful so expect to be down here for a while - you should kill enough to level, at least. Careful, however, some pulls will net you two or three mobs.

Walked in as lvl 9, got out as lvl 12. Terrible droprate indeed. If there are more people in here, make sure that you at least try to team up with them, or you could very well end up in here forever.

Terrible drop rate every time I have done this quest. I gain 1 lvl at least when ever I go in this place.

I hit the first Gnarlpine Shaman and got the idol from them. He was outside the Den. Either I am just very fortunate to get it in the first one or I didn't deserve to get those extra lvl's you all got doing this quest.

By the time you get the charm needed you have to spend as much time finding the charm for finding the questgiver again.

You walk into this cave a boy, and you come out a man. I am sure some people do get the charm quickly, but I was one of the unfortunate few to get a few levels grinded out of it. Not that I mind terribly slow, just you are in for a long trip T_T

This quest is a waste of time. The drop rate is horrible. The coordinates for Oben Rageclaw in the cave are 44.96 and 61.48.

Good luck and the other posters weren't kidding about going in and leveling twice.

May I say that this is a horrible quest.

I burned my way through the cave about 30 (I counted) times before finding even ONE charm. I dinged FOUR times!

This is like him saying "Go find a Lei of Lilies, and come back to me."

I came there on lvl 8 and left on lvl 11 ... Cool ... I suggest anyone that thinks of doing this quest to abandon it. It's a waste of time.

EDIT: And if you're planning to actually complete the quest, I suggest preparing a lot of food/water.

I could not find the charm in the cave. After exiting the cave I checked the map (map with quests in Patch 3.3) and it sent me to an area east of the cave and mountains surrounding it. Found the charm on the first shaman I killed.

did it a bit differently... running out of room in my bags so couldn't loot anyone. used my soulstone to go back to the guy who issued the original quest in the tunnels and sold all my stuff, then went back to the tunnels (figured it'd be easier to kill and search for the charm on my way to the guy who wanted it). got it off the 5th shaman i killed - though then had to kill everyone i went past on the way down.

only drawback (for those like me who get hopelessly lost in the tunnels and mines, etc) is that i got very disorientated and couldn't find the guy again for ages!

Helped my gf do this quest on her new druid.. went there with a 64 warlock. simple enough, dot, run, dot, run, and so on.

The point is: i think i must've killed at LEAST 50 of them, before it dropped.. waste of time unless you get help.

i found getting the charm easy,, just finding Oben to return it , after an hour, got fed up looking, any clues to how deep he is lol

´With the addon questhubber for loremaster does these quests not show up.. so if you are a paladin or warrior and want the full Stormwind guard look, you have to search for these quests down in the cave..

As you come down to first road split walk over the bridge on the right hand side.. and you will get the quest..

I would suggest getting out of the cave and going to the various patches around that the map shows. Since WoW has a tracking system now all you have to do is hit the according quest number on the map and it should light up where you will find these shamans. I got out of the cave to do this and I got it on the second patch of gnarlpines.

Yes, it's a horribly low drop rate. Yes, you'll gain 1-2 levels grinding this out. But, this quest and the followup are worth about 2000XP at level 9-10. The really big problem is, once you've found the charm, how do you get back to Oben Rageclaw to turn in the blasted quest? If you follow the map to the northern bridge where the yellow question mark says he should be...he's not there.

Remember that this is a two-level cave complex. From that northern bridge with the misleading question mark, go up the entrance tunnel and you'll be back at the upper level. The side-by-side bridges are right there. Oben is on the right, his spirit (which you have to kill for the followon quest) is on the left. For a better picture, hit your M key to bring up the map, then scroll between the two levels to orient yourself.

did this one today, with multiboxing, last time I did was on vanillia... first week of release of prepaid.... It was a pain... Well I totally forgot this quest but I saw shaman showing 0/1 so I decided.... to loot and I WAS SUPER LUCKY! drop =D well it was ez for me having 5xDruids (moonfire spamm!) but I dunno if they fixed the droprate or not. dunno!

5 &*!@ing hours. Thats how long this quest took me to do. The drop rate is so bad on this talisman. Like someone said, this place turns you into a man. Good luck to anyone doing it.

Bring a Shaman Voodoo Charm to Oben Rageclaw in the Ban'ethil Barrow Den.

Description

The Gnarlpine shaman that inhabit this place have discovered a way of separating a sleeping druid's spirit from the physical body. The furbolg have animated my physical form and are using it to attack anyone that attempts to explore the Ban'ethil Barrow Den. I am now trapped in the Emerald Dream, powerless to stop this.

You must help me. The Gnarlpine shaman carry a strange charm which is used to perform this ritual, and I'd like to examine it. Please, <name>, bring one to me.
