You'll see some guides recommend taking this talent, along with Shaohao's Lessons, but nobody explains how to use these talents in combat.

If you have this talented, every 8 seconds you'll passively generate a cloud (your button for this spell will have the number of stacks active on it). The clouds don't do anything on their own, and they aren't affected by spells that cause gust of mists (yes, it's misleading to call them 'clouds of mist'). The comments under Shaohao's Lessons say that you can have up to 10 stacks.

Then, when you expect a big spike of damage, you cast this spell to consume your clouds and do a big burst of healing on three random targets. Upon using the spell, you get a seemingly random buff from Shaohao's Lessons that should help your healing output for the next 3 x (stacks consumed) seconds, up to 30 s. Rinse and repeat the cycle.

After having played with this talent + Shaohao's Lessons in M+, it's essentially a third big-ish healing cooldown in the MW toolkit. It's lower mana than either Revival/Restoral and Chi-Ji/Yu'lon, so this is likely to be your first resort. Do keep in mind that it has a cast time comparable to Vivify (that does get modified with Haste), so be careful in situations with interrupt/silence mechanics. You don't have to have it fully charged up in order to see benefits. Less useful in raid, unless you're wanting the buff from Shaohao's Lessons, or the raid has split into smaller groups.

This is basically my decision making tree for choosing which cooldown to blow when multiple people are dying:

Not in immediate danger, but they took or will take a big spike of damage: Cast Sheilun's Gift
Sustained damage will occur, and I can safely maintain melee for the next 10 seconds: Invoke Chi-Ji (often cast right after Faeline Stomp or Essence Font for max fistweaving output)

@Bosschops42: No, it does not require a target, and can't be focused. It hits three random targets nearby.
