With Patch 12.0.7, we have the opportunity to obtain the Sleepy Mandrake battle pet while playing in Naigtal, one of the two new zones where we can experience outdoor content on Normal and Heroic world tier. The difficulty tier does not affect the pet's acquisition, so Normal is the preferred option to make the process less painful.

You'll find the Sleepy Mandrake in the Sleeper's Grotto, sleeping on a pile of bones. You can interact, but initially, you'll only see this message:

<The mandrake is swaying in a deep sleep with the occasional snore.>

So, not a pet we can easily pick up. Instead, we have to find a way to wake the sleeping creature. While exploring the zone and defeating enemies, you will probably loot Redcap mushrooms with „...a terrible stench to wake even the dead...“ in their description, and indeed, the interaction on the mandrake changes to feeding options for every Redcap you carry. Overall, you'll need five different Redcaps with this specific description, with 4 coming from clickable objects and 1 being looted from creatures in the zone.
According to Eagleeye098, the feeding of the redcaps doesn't have to happen on one character! If you found the Partially-Digested Redcap with a character that cannot access the Airy Redcap, but you have another character with a proper tool/profession who can, they both can feed their redcaps for your account's overall progress on the pet! With all five redcaps in any of your characters' bags, you have everything required to receive the pet, so it's time to send your characters with redcaps to the Sleeper's Grotto./way #2600 68.25 51.61 Sleepy MandrakeWhen you interact with the Sleepy Mandrake, you will now see up to five <Feed the mandrake the ... Interact repeatedly to use all available options, and again after feeding all five different redcaps on your account to see a new option to pot the creature, which will create the Sleepy Mandrake for your new battle pet. While you can access 4 of the required items from the ground, for the Airy Redcap, it is necessary to find a method to lift off into the air in this no-flying zone to get on top of the mushroom tree:

I'm not aware that a single Redcap would be sufficient, but it's very unlikely, because I fed them from top to bottom, and nothing happened without the Airy Redcap.
(You can only have one Sleepy Mandrake on your account, but some hidden quest flags would prevent getting duplicates anyway.)
