I could not find information about the drop amounts or cost of the Untainted Mana-Crystals.
I did some research.

As stated, they drop in Bountiful Delves at tier 9 and up from the Bountiful Coffer that opens with a key.
~~I did not try with a Delver's Bounty. But I assume they don't give any.~~
I tested a Delver's Bounty, the chest does not give any crystals.
They are not warband transferable.
There is a cap of 125 per week.

The trinkets are sold by the same NPC that spawns at the end of a tier 9 and up delve.
The heroic trinkets share the rotation with the champion ones.
They can be purchased for 100 Untainted Mana-Crystals each.

My sample size is small but should still give an idea of how many runs are needed.
I ran a Tier 9, Tier 10, and two Tier 11s.
The 9 gave 7 crystals,
The 10 gave 13 crystals,
The 11s gave 17 crystals on the first and 18 on the second.

With the comments and my loots, I'm guessing that these are the ranges:
Tier 9, 6-10
Tier 10, 11-15
Tier 11, 16-20

Expect at least 5 delves if you're doing Tier 11s and you high roll 20 crystals each.
But it will more likely require 6 runs and keys in average.

Zah'ran is the NPC at the end of the delve who sells trinkets on rotation. Untainted Mana-Crystals are used to purchase Heroic versions of the trinkets, at a cost of 100 each.

If wow dev team want player to farm this currency, they really need a more attractive loot table.

These are a waste of time. The vendor has only just got the hero gear in, and what happens if you've already got what you need? This is a waste of resources, at least have a vendor where we can purchase heroic jewellery, or neck piece, instead of waiting for the otherwise woeful RnG at the end of each week which seems to only have trinkets attached to them (not really, but......)

I'm not entirely sure why there is both a weekly cap (250) and maximum cap (1000) of these. Why not just the maximum cap?

This currency has been changed a lot in Midnight.

You still unlock this currency at Delve renown 9.

You can buy items from a new Zah'ran, who is very different from TWW version. He now gets 4 new items every time he spawns. All item slots are on his "loot" table. You can see this comment to see how he works.

Items sold now cost 50 for minor slots (oh, shield) up to 200 (2h weapons, trinkets, rings)

A bountiful lvl 11 delve always gives 45 Untainted Mana-Crystals in chest~~, except when you get lucky with a complete Hero item~~. After a recent undocumented fix you now get crystals even when you get a complete Hero item. Haven't gotten any from other sources (Nullaeus spawn, Delver's Bounty map, non-bountiful chests, etc)

And there is a weekly cap of 250, or 6 runs per week (yup, same as key limit) that will work towards this. There is also a maximum total cap of 1000, not sure yet if it increases every week, or a 1000 per season.

As of the first week that most people with alts are unlocking the hero delve system, the total maximum cap for the mana crystals is 1,000. this is enough to buy 5+ hero pieces so long as you grind out some delves. trinkets are 200 and mostly suck but can at least accelerate you past champion crests.

This seems to be only a chance to drop from the bountiful chest. I've done 7 delves now at 11 with keys and all nemesis killed and only have 45 on 1 toon.

After doing some testing it appears what is happening is that once you have completed 6 tier 11's on your warband (coincidentally the number needed to reach the 250/week cap) any further 11's on any character in your warband will not award any currency. I have one alt with 90 and another with 180 and have not received any more crystals on either of those characters plus a third that currently has 0. Hopefully this is fixed soon as I was pretty excited about this system otherwise.

did a bunch of delves 11 killing 4/4 nemesis pack on main and alts, drop rate is: 45 mana crystals OR a hero item.

Something I only realized today is that the Hero gear seems locked to Tier 11 to purchase or maybe since I had not done an 11 yet on this particular alt I was testing it had a things at the bottom of the item that says that its only purchasable on a Tier 11 Delve meaning even if I want to use this to gear out alts I would still have to do 11's to even purchase the items I may need where as before I would have just grinded laterally and maybe done 9's to get a trickle of Untainted Mana crystals to later spend on slots for alts.

Untainted Mana-Crystals

Can be earned after reaching rank 9 of the Delver's Journey. May be obtained from opening Bountiful Coffers with Restored Coffer Keys inside of bountiful delves at Tier 11. Can be traded with Zah'ran for powerful equipment.
