This hability got me salivating.

Imagine the destruction caused in a BG or capital raid with charge then the macro Sweeping Strikes + Recklessness + Bladestorm...

The fact that MS wars loose Death Wish is sad, but again Bladestorm works fo avoid fear too. The 20% damage loss is bad tough.

I'm only curious if this will be the cost common PvP build of if fury will finally take the lead. Bloodsurge will practicaly double bloodthirst crit damage, titan's grip is too cool for school and heroic leap is a great hability to break enemy formations if your teamates are smart enought to use that leverage.

Other than that, imp. Whirlwind is much better now that those badass warriors will be using 2 2-handers, good think those guys will not be able to get sweeping strikes... unless they give up on the leap.

The tooltip leads me to believe that this will not attack "all nearby targets" because it states that you perform a Whirlwind attack, which only hits 4 people max

Tooltip and current DB seems to be however a little off.
DB states that it have duration of 5s and interval of 2s.

Hmmmm maybe the first hit (when u activate it) the skill hits all the mobs then the "whirlwinds" after 1sec. (tool tip) just hit up to 4 mobs. Im not exactaly sure about it. Just throwing it out there.

You really cant say this is OP. All you have to do is juke the warrior or (if your a mage) blink. The warrior cant do anything execpt hit you for weapon damage 6 times.

In *theory* this is a great ability, but i think it will be more of used for when you need an extra AoE in raids or something, and PvP wars will instead get Death Wish for extra burst

I think Arms warriors are being built up pretty well for doing AoE damage (sweeping strikes back in Arms and this)

Perhaps this ability is to be used in PvP against classes after having already hamstrung the enemy or as a quick trinket with extra damage, you COULD use this to break Frost Nova and other slows to better counter Magi or other kiters.

Like Heroic Leap, this ability will be great when mastered and used to its full extent.

I never understood how things like hamstring or polymorph fit into the categories "pity, remorse, or fear" but I'd be ecstatic if it functions exactly the same as TBW (as it reads.)

Here's what it actually does:

* Immediately whirlwinds when you activate it, then whirlwinds automatically at 1s intervals for the next 6s.

* Makes you immune to all CC, slowing, or immobilizing effects. This includes Disarm. Being disarmed does, however, prevent you from using Bladestorm in the first place.

* Turns off autoattacks and prevents you from using any special abilities for the duration.

* The damage done does not generate rage. Hence, if you start your Bladestorm with 10 rage after the cost of Bladestorm, you will end the Bladestorm with 10 rage unless you get fed rage by being attacked.

ALL*** nearby targets... so if you agro like the whole stockades do you hit "all" targets...? and it also says a whirlwind attack every 1 sec. so taht would be an equivalent to 1 attack per second for 6 seconds but it also says ALL targets.. can someone go through this more throroughly?

There are a few things about this skill that might have been overlooked.

First of all, it instantly performs a Whirlwind attack, and places a buff on you that will, for the next 6 seconds, cause your warrior to perform a whirlwind attack every second, making it a total of 7 Whirlwind attacks.

Secondly, abilities cannot be performed, whites hits are not affected, thus allowing rage generation from auto-attacks. So if your warrior does a minimum of 2 successful white hits, the rage gained will offset the cost of Bladestorm.

Thirdly, it says "Instantly Whirlwind all nearby targets", therefore it is not limited to the "up to 4 targets" that a usual Whirlwind would do.
(Not true, all 7 Whirlwind attacks hit up to 4 targets.)

Fourthly, your warrior cannot be crowd-controlled while under the effects of Bladestorm. Disarm abilities can still be used against the warrior, but no effect will take place, guaranteeing a total of 7 Whirlwind attacks with your weapon(s).

Fifth of all, it is something interesting to take note of. It places a buff on you to perform the 6 whirlwind attacks. So anytime you feel there is a need to Pummel someone or perform other abilities, you can right-click to remove it and your skills are unlocked.

There are two things I hope someone from Beta can answer me.
1) Does the whirlwind attacks during the 6 seconds hit all targets, or is it up to 4 targets like the usual Whirlwind?
2) Recklessness now causes the next 3 special ability attacks to have a 100% chance to crit. Does it affect all 7 Whirlwind attacks or only the first 3, or worse, 1 attack with 3 crits on 3 different targets? If it does affect all 7, it will prove to be devastating, even against one with resilience.

Edit: Typo and information on fourth tip updated.

(Something just for fun's sake: If there is an upgrade of Icy Chill enchant, enchant it on your weapon, and if the slow effect has a chance to proc on any target affected by the Whirlwind attacks, it would seem like the Barbarian's Whirlwind of Diablo II with frost charms.)

I dont think is the best ideea to train this talent.Why? if you go with 51 talents in arms, you will not reach death wish.
Is not the thing is not good, it is excellent , but let's compare it with death wish.
VS druid.using bladestorm will only make him get away faster and further, and that's all.You could say you will be immune to root etc.yea, for 6 sec, think what will happen after.Let try figure the scenario with death wish.You don't have bladestorm, but you have full control of hamstring and piercing howl.you land 5 sunders, executioner pops in, death wish activated, pure damage burst.you can't do that with bladestorm.

VS druid, they are a pain one way or another, I can agree with deathwish being better in this situation.
VS mage, also a pain to warriors, but if you can get out of the frost nova, they will blink, catch them again, hamstring, they are helpless to a entire bladestorm cast, which with my poorly geared warrior, comes out with about 10k dmg across 6 seconds on a clothy with low resil.
VS shammy, ms first... heals will NOT keep up through a bladestorm, they will need help to keep themselves up.
VS rogue, once the stun locking is finished, against a decently geared rogue, my warrior has been dropped to about 20% health, I pop hamstring then bladestorm, and they quite often drop quickly, deathwish would get me killed with the extra damage Im taking. And by the time the bladestorm is over, you have a guaranteed overpower, rather then hoping that they dodge with deathwish going.
VS pali, see shammy also?
VS hunter, same as rogue, hamstring bladestorm, game over, plus its a great way to avoid scatter shot and traps.
VS locks, warriors are fear proof. Period, meaning warlocks main weapon is gone, they need to rely on killing you before you get to them, which doesnt happen with charge/intercept, once you are in their face and fear proof, a warlock loses, nobody can drain tank that fast, especially with a ms on them.
*I'm assuming fairly close gap in gear for these scenario's. Of course a Brutal lock is going to roll a honor geared warrior.*

But I think it comes down to playstyle and preferences, also luck to a degree, if you don't get a hamstring on the target before you use bladestorm, you wont hit them much. Still, I personally prefer bladestorm. With Lionheart Executioner my whirlwind hits for around 2k... 6 times... Without trinket or recklessness(which I beleive only works for the first 3 seconds).

And as for the question about how many people it hits. I tested it, don't have an exact number, but I walked into SM Cath, hit the boss, waited for all the mobs to come to me, popped bladestorm, only about 10-20 died, so I'm guessing it only hits as many as your whirlwind hits. Sadly.

I can also confirm that you CAN autoswing while in bladestorm, if Im in a boss fight, I pop my trinket/recklessness then bladestorm, and I come out of bladestorm with a full rage bar.

This is incredibly imba on 3.0.2 lol, me as a warlock get 7-shotted by Warriors simply using this and an execute. There's no way to get away from it (not even deathcoil lol), all I can do is /salute and face my immediate death with dignity!

When it'll be balanced in WotLK I bet it'll still be a powerful ability, although a warlock can simply portal out of it and the Warrior will be a sitting duck sadly.

Traditionally, arms builds uses 2H weapons. With bladestorm so far down the arms tree, it seems to make sense to use 2H weapons again. But whirlwind works by doing damage from both weapons, and so previously, having 2 slow weapons w/ high damage was preferred for whirlwind.

So when you bladestorm, do you keep your 2H on? Or do you macro in a quick weapon change to MH/OH, then switch back to 2H after your bladestorm? Or does it not matter?

Ok when is this spell being nerfed it's just rediculous, With 13k hp and 400 res. I don't stand a chance against this ability which makes no sense. imo while spinning around doing that whirlwind attack you shouldn't be able to still use other skills it makes it so strong, it's about as bad a retri paladins are

So far from my experiences, during Bladestorm you:
Auto attack, but when you cast Bladestorm your auto attack swing timer resets,
can proc trinkets and abilities like http://www.wowhead.com/?item=28579 and http://www.wowhead.com/?spell=12867, you cannot use any abilities, and you are immune to fear and such stated before. I think you might be able to be stunned because during Bladestorm I was stunned by http://www.wowhead.com/?npc=28255.

yes, a mage can just blink away from bladestorm, but a smart warrior will either force you to eat an intercept after or intercept first to get blink on cooldown and bladestorm the next time he's close

The way you're going to want to use recklessness in PvP is before an intercept (since recklessness is on the GCD, it's not good to waste a global to use it during intercept stun). It's generally not good to use with bladestorm because of how the new recklessness works.

I just tested this after rounding up a lot of mobs while farming, and wondering why half of them were still alive after I'd finished bladestorming.

Bladestorm only hits 4 targets, despite the wording of the ability being "all nearby targets".

I also had a melee swing during a Bladestorm.

I can confirm that Bladestorm procs Sweeping Strikes when activated (I used one charge of SS before bladestorming, then 2 charges on the first whirlwind, then 2 charges on the second whirlwind).

Since patch 3.0.3 the Glyph of Whirlwind changed from hitting an additional target to reducing the cool down, it's no longer useful to combine it with Bladestorm.

So theres a few more things that have been overlooked with this skill.

First of all, you can still be deathgripped while using bladestorm.
Second, you can be stunned by shockwave while using bladestorm.
Thrid, despite the tooltip reading 1.5min cooldown, when you use the skill it states 2min cooldown and it counts as such.

Used this one PTR yesterday, it seems the overall duration is reduced to about ~3-4s but the hits seem to come every 0.5s instead of every 1s, making this a much more dangerous burst tool than it already is.

Gr8 for solo play i have killed 3 mobs of my level with this then spamming execute, but in instances you generate fa to much aggro so leave it to mobs with low health or u risk taking aggro

Feel free to downrate, but in PVP popping retaliation while bladestorm is active, may not seem the best thing to do since most people will try to take some distance instead of hitting you...just my personal opinion

I don't know if you people are using an arms specced warrior in the berserker stance or just switching for the use of bladestorm but arms is generally used in the battle stance. Mostly for the use of overpower. The only real benefit of berserker stance with a two-handed weapon ( that is if your using a two handed weapon. haven't actually tried dual wielding in arms.) is:

crit from berserker stance

pummel which is nice since it's really the only way to stop casts if your not prot.

any talent spells in the fury tree depending on how far in you go which imo don't outweigh the arms ones using a two-hander.

I would advice that you use battle stance as an arms warrior, overpower contributes to a fair amount of damage.

I calculated my damage in the average bladestorm using both recklessness and without it in battle stance. There is about a 2000 damage diffrence, it being higher with recklessness but you have to sacrifice rage to switch stances or a fair amount of damage from overpower and rend. Imo battlestance is the better move, all together i kill faster and take less damage than in berserker stance aside from the 2k damage every 90 seconds from bladestorm.

In PvP if a movement imparing effect is cast on you, such as Frost Nova While you are bladestorming the animation of the effect will show on your character for a small amount of time but will not actually stop you, i would love to see the look on the casters face when they realize that their cheap garbage has failed them! :D

It would be nice if Blizz decided, instead of RP text in the tooltip, to actually just say "you can't be CCed". It does say you cannot be feared, essentially, but horror is different (Death Coil and Psychic Horror are horror effects) and you are immune to these as well. I assume you can be cycloned (the uber CC of WoW), and I've seen vids where the warrior is gouged during BS (though this is surely a bug).

I always found Bladestorm to be a bit of a hypocrisy for Warriors:

Bladestorm can only found at the bottom of the Arms tree, suggesting that most Warriors that far into said tree will be mainly Battle stance (e.g. for Overpower). However, reading Bladestorm's tooltip reveals that you perform Whirlwind attacks for 6 seconds...

Hold on, I thought you could only Whirlwind in Berserker stance? :-o

Its bizarre to be able to perform a considerably complex maneuver in Battle stance; i.e. 6 Whirlwinds in a row but cannot seem to perform, in comparison, a relatively simple component action - a single Whirlwind, while in Battle stance!
It would be like an ice skater being able to perform a triple salchow, but not a simple rotation.

Also, according to the Whirlwind spell information; although it states it requires a melee weapon, it does not state that you can use a Polearm; now that is bizarre, there goes the Polearm specialization! :-s

In conclusion, I think Blizz really screwed things up and they're just waiting for Cataclysm to wash away all their mistakes! :-p

In cataclysm, will this be the same as it was (I.e. full weapon dmg) or is it being nerfed to half weapon dmg like WW is? If so, this will be a MAJOR blow to arms PvP

Interestingly (for boring people like me anyway) this ability is also one of very very few I've seen that remove and make you immune to the npc daze effect that can happen if you are struck from behind.

Not even your pvp trinket does that.

Right now this ability only does 50% weapon damage.
Seems like Blizzard are filthy liars stating that it would not be affected by the whirlwind nerf, because Bladestorm and Whirlwind use the same spell, except Bladestorm does 6 Whirlwinds in rapid succession.

Yap, now the shattering comes to azeroth on wednesday the 24th november :) ("They say), and nerfstorm/crapstorm is being buffed to a well deserved 150% wep damage since the disarm nerf.
Way to go! now it gets its long waited for buff after the disarm nerf, you couldnt use it more than for 2 sec before it got dispelled.. now it atleast does some damage

I need to point out, that the tooltip for this is not correct 100% of the time. The part with "you cannot be stopped unless killed or disarmed" is true in most situations (all that I've found, except one)...

While soloing some old LK heroics for achievements/mats, I was doing Ahn'kahet: The Old Kingdom and got up to the boss Prince Taldaram, first time around I died... Second, I thought I'd attempt to avoid his Embrace of the Vampyr by Bladestorming to avoid the stun/drain effect the spell has. BOY WAS I WRONG!... I was STOPPED, yeah, that's right... STOPPED while Bladestorming... f##k!

Be careful when and how you use bladestorm, you can be disarmed while using it, and also mobs/players can dodge/parry the bladestorm...there are certain mobs for e.g that has dodge/parry spells.

So far in MoP, all fury warriors get titan's grip. And, one of the level 60 talents (it may not be level 60, feel free to correct me if I'm wrong) is Bladestorm. therefor at long last IT IS possible, to Bladestorm with titan's grip.

Bladestorm can no longer be disarmed.

They should bring back the flavor text IMO.

Example against mage; spec Douple Time. Attack,mage blinks you charge, mage blinks again you charge and pop all your cd´s and Bladestorm and if he/she has Ice Block on cd i can almost quarantee that hk is yours.
Works on crowded area too..

great skill for levelling a prot warrior 60-90 since it makes you immune to cc and gets solid aggro on any mob you run past. defo pick this up if you like to queue as tank and rush through dungeons.

I've personally always gone Fury/Protection, but it doesn't feel right that this ability is no longer arms.

It was the ultimate ability of the blademaster from warcraft three, And arms warriors are THE blademasters. Where as fury is an unstoppable titan striking with unskilled blows and sheer strength, Arms warriors use one weapon with intense skill ((Skill in both cases being in character)) and mastery of their weapon. I feel it cheapens the meaningfulness of bladestorm to make it an option for everyone, and now arms warriors might not even have it anymore.

Just my personal opinion, felt like sharing.

There seems to be dozens of movement impairing effects (slows, specifically) in BfA that still affect you during Bladestorm, only a couple in PvP, but lots in PvE content.
