No need to rush with this quest, the Worgs are all over Terrorkar, just kill them as you are taking care of more important quests.

I found a decent amount of them around 39,35. Drop rate is pretty bad though, so just do you quests in Terokkar Forest and kill then as you stumble upon them.

A lot of wolves are indeed located at the Bonechewer Ruins (not inside, but north of the zone). If you are here to kill the wolves, it would be smart to also pick up the quest "Unruly Neighbors" (http://www.wowhead.com/?quest=9998) for the Warped Peons there.

Drop rate is somewhere between non-existant and ridiculous, leaning towards ridiculous, since every worg you find has a large fluffy tail which somehow seems to disappear at the moment you deal the killing blow. Very odd.

Its amazing how few wolves in Terrokar have tails. You'd swear it looks like they all have one, but once the kill is done, lo and behold, no tail. Reminds me of those mutant humans in Hillsbrad that have no skulls....

i herd the drop rate was bad, but what i did was gte my 1st 6 then had ti log for a while then came back and got the other 6 fast, didnt take em to long.

The normal Timber Worgs seem to drop the tails a lot more often than the Timber Worg Alphas.
You can find the normal worgs just north of Stonebreaker Hold.

If you do these at 33,39 right near Veil Skith...they drop off the Timber Worg Alpha with regularity. Got all mine in 15 to 20 minutes. Just make sure you go after the Alphas in this area and you won't have a bad drop rate at all.

Like in veryother zone that has wolves there are SPiders in same spot. Dont know why blizzard did this but whenever u see a wolf a spider is near. same other way around.

I Suggest going for Timber Worg Alphas on this quest, better drop rate.

For those of you without Coodinate addons,just head north of the Hold and you'll find them.Soloed this as a 64 holy priest.Not alot of trouble.Although the drop rate wasen't that great.
Watch out for Warped Stalkers.

Fight the level 64 worgs, they seem to have a higher drop rate. They are around 56, 36.

While you are in this area, you can also pick up these other quests beforehand:

Olemba Seeds
Magical Disturbances

Amazingly low drop rate atm, I've killed over 40 of these TAWs and had three whole tales drop. My question is who they heck is cropping all the worg's tails????

the ower the drop rate the better for this quest. Pick it up and the rest and just kill them as u go through the rest of the quests. You will eventually get them all without knowing it.

Y'know, I could understand the flaky drop rates if you were searching for something peculiar.. such as a certain type of wolf.. but a low drop rate for something that is intrinsic to the species as a whole..such as a tail... is ridiculous. That's like saying "Oh...you've killed the giant two-headed ogre...but you can't find his heads in order to decapitate them and return them for the quest..." HOW do you MISS something like that?? Whomever designs the quests and/or loot subroutines needs to be dragged out into the middle of the street and beat profusely about the head and shoulders with wolf tails..

I think I might have killed more Warped Stalkers than I did Timber Wargs, and it still took me over an hour to get all of the tails. This quest is pretty nice for experience grinding, but for those of you with a low threshold for patience I'm going to warn you, be prepared to be at it for a while. I'm sure you'll hear stories of people who finished the quest in ten minutes or less, but those of us who were less fortunate can vouch for the seemingly endless hours of irritation it caused.

Yeah, the reputation rewards listed on this are completely wrong. I just turned in and gained no rep whatsoever with any faction. If you're after reputation, don't waste your time with this quest.

I wasn't looking forward to do this quest because of all the comments about terrible drop rate, but I wanted the helmet so I just startet doing it along with the Olemba Seed q, Poen q and Warp Stalker q. I was suprised because the drop rate was really good. I don't know how it works, but I guess it's random. They dropped from almost every wolf I killed. :-)

As stated before, the Worgs are all over Terrokkar. This quest can be done easily while looking for http://www.wowhead.com/?quest=9992 , http://www.wowhead.com/?quest=10026 and http://www.wowhead.com/?quest=9998. The Drop rate on the tails was decent enough where boths quests can be finished around the same time.

I think drop rate is lvl dependant. At 67 I did this in conjunction with the Olemba seed quest. Needless to say I got all 30 seeds before I even had half of the tails and the seeds aren't a particularly quick gather. Once I hit 68 though the tails miraculously turned into a much more worthwhile drop rate. If you're on this quest at 67 please test and confirm this theory.

Terrible quest, like most quests in Terrokar Forest, end of story.
Drop rate seems like 10% since I've killed 8 worgs in a row and only 1 of them dropped a tail, just leave this quest in your quest log and continue with other quests, while you're doing other quests, kill some worgs here and there.

1. Timber Worg Tails
• Accept the quest, Timber Worg Tails, from Bertelm at coords 58.2, 54.8 (Allerian Stronghold).
• Travel north of Allerian Stronghold.
• Kill Timber Worg and loot 12 Timber Worg Tail from their corpses.
• Travel south, to Allerian Stronghold, to coords 58.2, 54.8
• Turn in the quest to Bertelm.

Horrible quest. The drop rate is horrible and it makes me wonder why not all of them have tails...very bizarre

Timber Worg Tails

Bertelm at the Allerian Stronghold wants you to bring him 12 Timber Worg Tails. The tails can come from either Timber Worgs or Timber Worg Alphas.

Description

Have you come across the timber worgs in your travels? I've had the opportunity to observe them while mapping some of the northern reaches of the forest. I wouldn't recommend getting close to them unless you're prepared for combat.

They have no fear of us and won't hesitate to defend their territory.

It's fitting that such a creature would have a magnificent tail. I've been trying to collect enough of them to trim a new cloak, but the worgs have a habit of evading my snares. Will you help?
