The source for this mount is Sthaarbs, an Elite Rare which will appear at the center of The Oasis in K'aresh, and then start attacking the eco-dome's barriers. You can recognize it by its standard Elite Rare vignette (with current health shown on mouseover!) on your map. From the limited testing (they just made Sthaarbs available in Build 62049, July 17th), it appears that we see this Rare respawn exactly 60 minutes after the last kill./way #2371 74.0 32.5 Sthaarbs

Sthaarbs is supposed to drop the Sthaarbs's Last Lunch devourer mount randomly. Every Level 80 character is eligible for Sthaarbs's loot once per week, but maybe we have another one of these "first kill on the account each week has an increased chance" mechanics.

When active, it is required to enter Untethered Space to attack Sthaarbs, which means your character must equip at least the basic version of the Reshii Wraps artifact cloak and therefore be Level 80!
In the best case, you use the Phase Diving waygate system to teleport to the Phase Conduit in The Oasis. As long as Sthaarbs is alive, in Untethered Space, you'll see a Cartel Zo Phase Guardian keeping up a portal nearby, and when you get close to the portal, an Extra Action Button will appear to Phase Warp you to one of four floating platforms surrounding the Rare up in the air, and this is where you fight. Each platform has two little arcane puddles that will knock you to the next platform to the left or right when you step into them.

When engaged, Sthaarbs is using these abilities:

Mindblast Beam (the Echo orbs at the end will knockback on hit, which usually means you fall from your platform, probably to death)
Repulsive Gaze (I didn't test if you can dodge this at the platform's edges, but the intention here is to avoid it by moving to another platform, e.g., by stepping into the mentioned arcane puddles)
Lingering Curse (a nasty ticking DoT on several targets)

When Sthaarbs is defeated, it's probably intended that everyone on the platforms gets a Knockback, the Phase Diving aura is removed, and we get a parachute applied to fall slowly in normal phase... but that was not always happening correctly ;-) The Rare's corpse will also fall down for you to be looted. To unlock this rare you need to :

Get Reshii Wraps and unlock Untethered Space (Read more info below)
Use Phase Diving near Oasis main quest hub 75.88 33.13
When inside Phase Diving move forward to the portal in front of you and you will see Extra action button Phase Warp.
Use it to teleport to the platform near the rare
To kill the rare you need to dps+ jump away from platform if you see dark shadow spell
My PET was bugged and dispawned on platforms near the rare. Hopefully it gets fixed
Reward is Sthaarbs's Last Lunch mount. Got 1 in the video below
PS Just in case it's not fixed get Goblin Glider Kit or some other form of fall damage mitigation because after rare dies platform disappears and you fall

How to unlock Untethered Space Phase Diving

Complete K'aresh main story quests and get Reshii Wraps
Just follow main zone storyline up to the The Oasis in K'aresh - complete chapter 4 and then short orange questline to unlock the Untethered Space

Enter Untethered Space with Phase Conduit all across the map. you can aslo use them to fast teleport in the zone

Got it today on my first kill.
We did not use the platform, there was a mage and a shadow priest killing it standing right below it on the floor(their spells are 40 yards) I just used goblin racial rocket jump and a howling blast to get 1 hit in, and the mount dropped for me

If you die during the boss DO NOT RELEASE if you release it will teleport you far and you wont get the loot, if you die stay dead and wait for the rest to kill it!

I got this mount a little earlier on my resto shammy.

When I got to the rare it had about 10% health left & I just used a flame shock once I was in range & few hits later the boss was down & the mount was in my bag.

It was my first kill & had no idea it dropped a mount, which came as quite a surprise.

Killed around 7 times on different characters before I got it.

In the groups I was in, I saw multiple lunches drop several times.

I had no idea this dropped a mount! Just got it after my first kill ever, on my elemental shammy. I died when he had just a tiny bit of health left, my dot finished him off, popped reincarnate and his corpse was stuck way up at the top of the dome lol. Thought maybe I could loot it via switching to steady flight, that was no good, dismounted in midair hoping I could loot on the way down, that was no bueno so I died again to fall damage lol. Made my way back from the graveyard, and suddenly his corpse was somehow now on the ground and I was able to loot. Was shocked to see a mount drop, had to come here to look into it because I wondered if it was a guaranteed drop.

I’ve only ever had a mount drop after a first ever kill twice - this one, and Ashes of A’lar (gave it to my daughter because we were running it together hoping it would drop).

I object to the 1 hour respawn narrative. I've killed him on 3 toons within the same hour on the same realm. From my observation he has a chance to respawn in intervals of 15 minutes after each kill, with 60 minutes being the longest possible respawn time.

First kill got it. I didn't even know he drops a mount. I thought it was a guaranteed at first. I wish all my mount farms could go this smoothly, took me over 1k to get my Mimron's Head. Keep trying folks, perseverance pays off.

It took me 123 kills across all my characters before this dropped. If it's a 6% drop rate then after that many attempts there would have been a 99.95% chance of seeing it at least once, which is just crazy bad odds.

The best way to farm this mount while its still 'The War Within' current content is to look for groups in custom premade groups. That way you do not have to know when the last kill time was and you can potentially get a lot more attempts by phasing into other players servers. You will need alts tho for multiple attempts as it is a weekly lock out. Alternatively if you know the last kill time on your server the next respawn is 60mins. If you are in a group you that is killing Sthaarb you don not even have to tag the boss, you can still loot the corpse and get the mount. This happened to me as i was unable to get to the platforms. Side note you must be the phase diving mode which currently requires Reshii Wraps cloak. Then standing near the phase conduit (pink circle) there is an npc nearby channelling into a kind of portal. Standing close to this should then give you an extra action button which you click to be transported to the platforms.
