To get to the mob, you should question Madam Shadow while still in the Darkmoon Faire, and if you push her enough, she actually tries to punish you - By porting you into the Darkmoon Deathmatch pit, where her elite Felhound Twinkle is awaiting you.

Was looking for a guide on how to kill Twinkle and didn't find anything so I figured I would post my experience.

Did this as 433 ilvl, with 4 set bonus in destruction spec. Twinkle basically one shots in most circumstances and when he doesn't, he must apply a dot that will bring you near death. Your pet is worthless as he will enrage and kill your pet near instantly. However, he is very susceptible to CC, including fear and Curse of Exhaustion. Set up circle and gates in advance. Stone yourself and create health stones. I used fel hunter because he casts a spell that I could silence, but I don't think its necessary - just don't use a tank pet.

I started with immolate and followed up with exhaustion. Popped cooldowns and pumped him until he got close then used circle to get away. After this, I focused on kiting him. I used a combination of burning rush, gates, circles, and CC to keep away and it really wasn't too difficult. Main thing is to just not let him hit you and he will eventually die.

For any fresh-faced newbie warlocks that were attracted to this class for the first time because of new pet customization like me:

Was able to do this as an affliction lock (admittedly at level 30, so perhaps the scaling went easier on me, and as for gear, I was in un-upgraded level-29-capped heirlooms). I was unable to accomplish this as Demo (killed my pet instantly) and didn't even try Destro, because I'm a hunter main and this was my first warlock ever so maybe I was being a little clumsy. I went afflic for the first time just to do this since it made sense to me that it would be better at kiting than the other two, and this was pretty plainly a kite-test. The spec I used was the leveling spec from Wowhead's leveling guide for affliction, just selectively aimed for talents that jammed all my points into mobile damage (and that instant cast fear that also heals 20% of your HP).

Start it off with Curse of Exhaustion and DoT it up and then run in circles forever. You don't need gate, you don't need circle; in fact I would suggest against gate because he bit me through the teleport and I died in one of my attempts. Just run at normal speed around the edge of the arena and only stop moving to cast fear so you can reup your dots. He will not reach you as long as you keep 100% uptime on Exhaustion. Let your DoTs and Nightfall procs kill him.

I used Felhunter to interrupt Devour Magic (it's a heal if he casts it successfully) but I'm pretty sure he all but immediately killed the dog. It didn't matter. This is a war of attrition and because he is susceptible to fear you will always win as long as you never stop moving except to fear -> re-up DoTs. Don't be impatient and try to sneak in extra attacks, because this dog two-shots and you will be punished severely for any errors.

Use Fel Popcorn from the ground besides Madam Shadow for a 20s speed boost.

I had ilvl 390 and I'm bad at kiting, I kept dying over and over quite at the beginning of the fight, trying to fear/mortal coil/cast non-instant spells. Then I used the dumbest tactic:
- used fel popcorn before the fight
- didn't have my pet attack the boss at the beginning, to not mess with his direction going between me and the pet
- no CC, no teleports, I just used instant spells and Curse of exhaustion, running in a circle at the very edge of arena
It took a few minutes, but it was simple and it worked.

Thought I would add that it is doable if you completed the questline before killing Twinkle.

My lock is 62, and undergeared. I party-synced with a friend's druid, level 68, who just sat in Valdrakken. I was then able to pick up the quest "Beginning Impositions" to take the carriage to the DMF from where I took the it the first time (Cleft of Shadow in Org for Horde). Do not turn in the quest if you group. See * below. I don't know if the carriage will still be there if you turn in the quest.

I tried soloing Twinkle several times after reading suggestions here. A few times with other locks popping in. I determined after the 4th or 5th try that I just don't have the skill to solo Twinkle, and trying to coordinate with random people who popped in and out didn't work either. So, I created a group in premade groups. *WARNING: when people join the group it ports everyone out of the DMF, so it would be better to create a group before taking the carriage to DMF.* If you get ported out, just return to where the carriage leaves the major city and take it again.

We were able to take Twinkle down with 3 of us kiting, porting, curse of exhaustion, fear, interrupts and insta-casts. Good idea to get the speed buff from the popcorn next to Madam Shadow as well.

Super easy as Affliction. Just keep Curse of Exhaustion up, and your instant cast dots, and run in a big circle around the arena walls. Just keep refreshing dots and exhaustion. Can throw in a Mortal Coil to get some castable dots up and haunt to speed it up a little. Took about 2 minutes of running in circles.

As a Demonology Warlock, I just did my normal rotation and kept on top of my CC's. Pet stun, Shadowfury, Mortal Coil and Fear. I used to stuns inbetween the fears so that the diminishing returns was reset and healed my pet while he was long feared. Other than that I used Curse of Weakness to slow the attack speed. Ilvl402, season 1 4-set.

It took us 3 warlocks of varying levels and undergearedness to take down Twinkle. Ultimately what helped was:

grouping with other warlocks in the area where possible (we tried to just solo and avoid each other at first and the arena is free-for-all PVP which means you get to use PVP abilities)
timing deaths and resurrections so the boss could not reset, because death was inevitable for us

I did use the felhunter as others suggested, but didn't really need it. Probably could have gotten by with the imp - just avoid anything melee because they will die quickly.

this might be intimidating at first but trust me you can do it, even if you know nothing about warlocks and are terrible at playing one

I just did it on an extremely undergeared ilevel 140 alt, level 50, with only 3 buttons!

1) cast Corruption (use the talent Absolute Corruption to make it a permanent application so you only need to cast it once)
2) cast Curse of Exhaustion
3) cast Agony

reapply Exhaustion and Agony each time they're about to run out, and then just run in a circle around the perimeter of the room, no need for speed boosts or any teleports, just keep running, and his health will tick down without him ever touching you

Alright so when the dialogue said "something bad would happen" I assumed she would one shot me. I had SS on. I got tp'd into the room with Twinkle but they did not aggro. I try using enslave demon

...

The doggo gets up, and then lays back down. Nothing else happens.

Alright I say to myself time to leave.

Oh no... oh no... there is an invisible wall preventing my escape. Alright time to kill the poor puppy.

Puppy enrages and kills my fel-guard then has my for dinner.

Something bad did indeed happen.

Didn't know what I was doing and couldn't really kite well enough. I went Afflic for this. Luckily there was another warlock who was as persistent as I was. They were higher level so while they sent in their VW, I had out my FH for interrupts. Used Command Demon just for fun. Other warlock had aggro so I kept up Agony, Exhaustion and spammed fear. With the other warlock kiting, by the time the boss got near me, it was sub 10%. I was able to run and keep up agony and exhaustion and threw a mortal coil for mobility. Once I was out of biting range, I kept spamming fear until Twinkle died. I think we both lost our pets but we had SS.

Slapped it with exhaustion, corruption, and kept agony up. Ran around the very edge of the outer circle, took like five minutes. I don't deny it's lazy, but I never got hit and with autorun it was very chill.

Twinkle is actually soloable as a Demonology lock. Take out your imp, start the fight by hurling your dreadstalkers at it, then your burst summons. Cast as many Hands of Gul'dan as you can until you take aggro, then run while hugging the wall while spamming Curse of Exhaustion and running in circles. From now on, apply any DoT you have, throw a Demonbolt while moving or cast a Shadowbolt if you have enough distance, throw a Fear or Mortal Coil if possible, Cast a new set of Hand of Gul'dan and/or Dreadstalkers if you have enough distance, rinse and repeat until death ensues. Took me about a minute as a lvl 51 Demolock.

FYI - if you are a warlock - and somebody asks for your help on this, please listen to what they are saying - and don't go running off. Just talk to Madam Shadow and do the secondary dialogue - in this order:

That's nice. Where have all the people gone?
Really.
And the Darkness?
The Demons?
I'm on to you.
Yes I am.
I'm not dropping this.

It will then initiate the "event" to kill Twinkle.

If you either didn't know about this quest, or missed it during the intro - go back to the Darkmoon Arena during the Darkmoon Faire being active, and in the middle is a tome called "Forgotten Grimoire" that teaches you the alternate appearance. Keep in mind that it will still flag you active for PvP, so there could be trolls trying to kill people who come in there to get to it. I'm not sure if Twinkle spawns in there (I didn't see the mob), but that may still be the case, and the Grimoire remains active for a time after Twinkle is killed.

as affliction I tried several times and it seemed impossible.
but then I kept trying.

I used the no daze running tank method from Razorscale. Strafing sideways (clockwise is "Q") and making minor turns ("D").
I constantly strafed ("Q") and I turned ("D") whenever the wall started to interfere with my camera.
I left the imp out and attacking for the extra DPS.
It was just a matter of keeping exhaustion up counting down in my head from 12 every time I cast it to keep focus for recast and Agony in-between.
The start position is critical or you just die. Since I was running clockwise, I started out from his left paw. Hitting him with Absolute Corruption.

Just want to add: It might seem obvious but If you aren't ready to do this and want to do the regular DMF, leave and drop the quest and go back in. Quest can be picked up again later.

I just defeated this boss with ANOTHER WARLOCK! You can enter with other warlocks. Of course it marks you both for pvp, but just try not to hit each other. I ended up dying just before the other warlock killed the boss. I was still able to loot the item.

I'm not entirely sure if something has changed, but after completing the chain on my main lock, I sent an alt back in to try to kill Twinkle for the book. I followed the top comment, and spec'd aff. My lock is lvl 47 (ilvl 134), only wearing the catch up gear from the return boost, and somehow I killed it in 1 hit.

Not sure if I was bugged but I hit curse of exhaustion, then corruption, and he dropped dead in 1 tick of corruption 67k dmg, 18k overkill.

I was ready for a kitefest and managed to kill it within seconds on my 46 affliction warlock. All I cast was Unstable Affliction which dealt over 64k damage in one tick. I was in the phased version of Darkmoon Island while on A Wolf Among Sheep.

No need to kill Twinkle. Just go to the regular Darkmoon Faire and enter the Deathmatch Arena by clicking on the gate. The tome is in the middle of the floor. EDIT: Yes, just finish the questline and then come back later and get the tome. I did the questline when the DMF wasn't up, so if you do the questline when the DMF is up, you may have to wait for the DMF to respawn for the book to appear, not sure).

I'm not sure what happened with this one. I read the comments and got ready for what I expected to be a long kiting experience. I cast in order, corruption, exhaustion, agony... and the fire boi just fell over. I've attached a screen shot (if it'll go through, never done it). This will show the damage of the spells. For some reason my corruption with a tool tip of 2433 was hitting for 47k-100k. Anyway, just wanted to let you know it might be easier for some reason reason.

NOTE: I did the whole quest chain on my main warlock, then came back on a lowbie alt warlock to do this part. This could have affected it?

There is a major issue with the quest and this npc. If you do not attack twinkle and get the Grimoire, you may end up permanently stuck in the midnight at the faire phase with no NPCs. This means you can't kill twinkle or interact with any part of the darkmoon faire on this character.

If anyone finds a solve to this please post it.

None of the kiting strats listed here work at all in 10.2. Pet dies in seconds (as to be expected), then he just moves closer and three shots you with his flame attack. Exhaustion doesn't prevent this at all and you cannot outrun him.
But I guess he isn't intended to be solo'ed?

Kiting Twinkle (or any mob really) would be a lot easier if this game didn't sometimes suddenly decide "melee range" is anything up to 20 yards

I killed this one as a Destruction lock (level 70 - ilvl 428 - season 3 4 pc set) with voidwalker. I did not have to use any kiting strat. No issues.

Holy ... so yeah. This is the way. My warlock has been my main for a decade and I thought I would fight this like every other elite. DoT up the mob, keep the VW healed with health funnel as needed, and then heal myself with drain life. Nope, Twinkle hits WAY too hard. I tried twice and then just switched to kiting.

He is sleeping so you can start with a cast time spell like Unstable Affliction and then apply Agony and Corruption, but fairly soon he will crush the VW. Just let him, and then like others here say, run around the ring in a circle using insta-cast. To make it faster, I would recommend Absolute Corruption and any talent that increases the potency of your DoT's. Sacrolash's Dark Strike is handy as it extends the length of your Curse. Untalent Drain Soul so you can cast Shadow Bolts when Nightfall procs, and grab Tormenting Crescendo for a chance at instant Malefic Rapture casts. Also Phantom Singularity instead of Vile Taint, since it is an instant cast on a cooldown, as is Summon Darkglare. Then it's keep Curse of Exhaustion and Agony on him, cast Phantom Singularity and Summon Darkglare when those are available and use Nightfall and Tormented Crescendo procs to instant cast Shadow Bolt and Malefic Rapture, respectively. And most importantly ... NEVER STOP RUNNING!

Don't bother kiting, it's annoying and finicky as the boss gets larger over time (and thus gets a larger attack radius). Instead, Fear it.

Managed to do this on a level 30-ish Demonology Warlock with zero kiting. I found Curse of Weakness more useful than Exhaustion because it extended the time my pet was up. Kiting got me killed every time, but I finished the attempt where I discovered that Fear works.

Just saw someone kill it with one million dmg with lvl 53 hp. Doing max hp as dmg with single incinerate cast. I dont know how this is possible.

Funny story, I read here he is so hard. I went in with a level 46 Warlock, Demonology. Because I use a macro when casting Shadowbolt, my Demonguard charged him and one hit him. And I can't loot him. Nice...

Edit:
So I waited some, went back and he indeed respawned. I killed him with a Pain and Corruption, he died in 3 seconds or so. Still can't loot a book.

And it gets even better. I clicked the Escape Imp... and selected "get me out of there" and he ported me to the Azure Span. As level 46 Warlock. Nice.

If you're still in the middle of the warlock customization questline and get teleported to The Azure Span after talking to the imp, go back to SW/Org and talk to Assistant Phineas, there should be a dialogue option that asks him to take you back to the faire.

Some really good comments here, I figured all this out from reading a bunch of them, trying things out and putting some things together in a way that worked for me.

Demo Lock, but I'm pretty sure you can do it on any spec with this method as long as you have Curse of Exhaustion and any instant that can be cast without facing the enemy.

I didn't use my pet.

I didn't use a speed boost of any sort. Actually, I think it might be important to go normal speed because you want him right behind you the whole time. If he starts to wander around, he can end up catching you. Any time i tried to start with him on the other side or use any CC or my pet he would wander off his circle behind me and end up catching me with his AOE.

I found it to be very important that I stay RIGHT up against the outside wall as closely as possible without rubbing up against it and slowing me down. If I would come in even a few steps towards the center, he would end up catching me. There's no need to look at him, just put on autorun and focus on running around the edge of the circle and cast your spells when necessary. It took quite a while, like 10-15 mins maybe, but it was easy.

I used only Curse of Exhaustion, Doom, and Implosion (with Spiteful Reconstitution, Inner Demons and Imp Gang Boss passives). All three of these can be cast at him while you're running and he's behind you, you don't have to be facing him, which is important.

As soon as you spawn in go ahead and target him (this is stupid, but it was an important step for me because I would spawn in with Madame Shadow still targeted and then wonder wtf was happening lmao), put your Curse on him, and start running away towards the outside to start circling. Keep Curse on him, keep Doom on him (have to watch with doom because if you recast before it ends it won't do any damage, it only does damage at the very end, you have to let it finish before you recast), put implosion on him whenever it procs.

Killed twinkle instantly for some reason. 18,811 shadow damage. With 33,522 overkill. At level 38. No idea what happened.

EDIT: This is happening with everything on the island actually. Scaling is probably broken right now.

I successfully used the kiting strategy less than a month ago with no issue, but today got one shot on at least 5 attempts. Both bosses in this chain are absolutely broken. However, there is way to break them back, at least if you are doing this on a leveling toon. Get to Level 30 (required for the letter and carriage to appear), go to the Cataclysm timeline with Chromie, go to the island and then hearth out. Level up to 37, go back to Chromie, and switch to the current timeline option. You will one-shot Twinkle and Lord Banehollow will go down almost as quick. While these are fun fights to try legitimately, there is no conceivable way for a leveling toon to do so currently. So it must be cheese until it's fixed (if ever).

I have been away from WoW since just after dinging 70 when I was annoyed w/ Dragonflight (and after not really even finishing Shadowlands). I'm trying to clear out old quests and decided to try this - Twinkie killed my VW in about 3 seconds before I could even get all my instacast DOTs up or start kiting. Then while I was reading these comments and waiting for my soulstone to reset, some other lock at LEVEL 36? came in and one-shotted him. Then like 20 minutes later after 2 more failed attempts that went exactly the same as the first, the same dude came back and did it AGAIN. I tried to get a hit in before Twinkie died and he killed him literally too fast for even that. ?

Can I just cheese this if I log in on some under-leveled alt? What gives?

Destro - Level 68 - TWW Season 1

Pulled out my imp because the low threat generation means it wouldn't die.

Opened with Soul Fire and Curse of Weakness, then started kiting, dropping Dimensional Rifts, and using Conflag and Shadowburn on CD.

The first time he enraged I dropped my Infernal on him. Every time he enraged after that I stopped running and cast fear to interrupt his rage.

Rinse, Reapeat, Grimoire.
