So as a heads up for any hunters who would like this beautiful bird - The model is absolutely gorgeous, for sure. However upon managing to tame (two), I got super depressed. I had this awesome idea of having two massive, person-sized raptors fighting at either side of me, hovering and raking enemies with their talons!

Nope.

They stand, AND FIGHT, on the ground. Not very bird like, and very depressing. And they're TINY in comparison to the player! They'd be the size of a parrot if you used the pet-shrinker glyph. I will still use them, but I'm pretty disappointed right now :(

Also note, these guys will grab you and pick you up and then throw you into the chasm.

In the next expansion, I am going to seek my revenge on this proto-bird for picking me up and dropping me to my death.

Nasty little NPC. Some classes will have trouple dealing with it as it will grab you rendering you offenseless and defenseless. After being dropped and losing half your life, if you recover some health it will grab you again and drop you without much chance of fighting it, if alone.
Edit: I think the Goblin Glider Kit didn't work in the beginning of the patch (though I might be recalling wrongly) -- but it works now. So, carry a few of them and use when you're dropped.

This creature is the biggest garbage in the entire game. When it casts its pickup spell you can't run from it and it stuns you the entire time it slowly carries you up and drops you to the ground. And it does it over and over until it's dead. There is nothing you can do while it does this bull snikes attack. For shame blizz.

I was able to get him without a problem because I had The Stylish Black Parasol (which lets you slow). I activated the Parasol which is useable for 5 min. I flew into Proto to get him to attack me. Made certain I dropped onto one of those 6-sided rocks. I began taming immediately. Clear out any predators below the drop area. The first time I fell, I was attacked by the lupines which cost me taming time and Proto got me. No problem the second time. Good luck.

I didn't look here first, so I didn't know about the drop thing before trying to tame. Oops. Got it on the second try. Anyone else name theirs Merica?

So, I have submitted this mob as a bug in the game as follows:

Proto-Ancient Raptora

Please fix this broke ass mob. Once it uses it's "Clutched" mechanic, you are screwed. Once clutched, you are taken up into the air, can not disable, stun or otherwise interrupt the mob - even if you are in party, or have pets that are still attacking it.

It then proceeds to drag you up into the sky, sometimes veering off in a slight angle, before dropping you to take massive falling damage. This damage currently CAN NOT BE PREVENTED by any means - healing/shielding/slow-fall abilities all FAIL to work during this fall.

Basically if you do not burn this mod down to death before it starts spamming this attack - and it DOES spam this attack, you WILL DIE. Should you survive a first drop, you do not have enough time to heal high enough to survive a second drop before it uses it again. This is assuming it has not veered towards a cliff to drop you for an even greater distance, ensuring you die regardless.

Please either make this attack interruptable, or allow mitigation suring the fall. There is nothing fun about watching your char die to what SHOULD be preventable death, just because of bad game design.

Hopefully the will listen and fix this soon.
