Odyn is the first boss in Trial of Valor, the mini-raid released in 7.1. The loot from this boss is item level 845+/860+/875+/890 for LFR/Normal/Heroic/Mythic difficulty.

Trial of Valor is the second raid available in Legion, and is considered a "mini-raid" with only 3 bosses. The Nighthold, the next large raid, will be released later in patch 7.1/7.1.5.
Trial of Valor is located in Stormheim.

As of June 27th 2017, you can now acquire the parts you need to create The Dragonslayers by defeating Odyn in The Trial of Valor, on any difficulty.

Currently only soloable by characters that can tank Hymdall and Hyrja 35 yards away from each other.

I was able to solo this as a 345 ret pally on Normal.

What I had to do was tank them together until either Hymdall did Horn of Valor or Hyrja did Shield of Light.

When one started casting I would immediately Divine Steed away until the shield fell off the one that wasn't casting. At that point, I got in as much damage as I could. You only have one or two seconds to damage them before the shield gets reapplied. I just kept alternating them until they got to around 45% and the shield just went away. Not sure what happened but I was able to kill them easily after that.

Odyn himself is pretty easy, just use some defensives for the spear because it kinda hurts after while.

The whole fight took about 9 minutes, but a good 7 or more was used just for the adds.

It's tedious, but doable if you have the survivability and speed boosts.

It's possible to solo Odyn on all difficulties with low tier 8.3 gear. (I was a havoc DH ilvl444, v low corruption)
You'll need either a pet or movement abilities, especially for mythic.

The fight is split up into 3 phases:

1. Hymdall & Hyrja

When within 35 yards of each other they gain Valarjar's Bond.
When one dies they start to cast Revivify
Throughout the entire fight adds will spawn corresponding with runes or something. You can ignore them.

If you have a pet: Have it tank one boss while you kill the other at a distance and burst down the 2nd.
If you don't:

Take both bosses to a side of the room. Where they start works fine.
Either Hymdall will start to cast Horn of Valor or Hyrja will start to cast Shield of Light. As soon as that happens, run away to separate them and deal as much damage as you can to which ever follows you.
Rinse and repeat until they're both 'dead' (25% health). I also found that they didn't regain their shield at times and could both be bursted down, but as I haven't seen any mention of that anywhere it may be a bug.

2. Odyn 100%->55%
If your damage is high enough/you're on a low difficulty, it's possible to just burst through this phase.

Both Hymdall and Hyrja can rejoin the fight, Odyn will also gain the damage reduction. This is what makes it suck.
Hymdall and Hyrja only stick around until they're at 85%.
Odyn's Spear Of Light will send out orbs that stun you on contact.
Odyn's attack speed increases each time he hits you.

Again, if you have a pet this should be relatively easy. As soon as Hyrja or Heimdall enters the fray, have your pet kite them away and use whatever long range abilities you have to take them out before the other joins.

If you don't: Same thing as before. Stay towards the edge of the room, then as soon as Heimdall/Hyrja start to cast, drag Odyn away.
However, this time attack the caster with whatever long range skills you have. If you're melee and struggling I recommend using the Azerite Power Breath of the Dying, it does decent ranged damage and only has a 15 second cooldown.
You should really aim to kill them off asap, you don't want either alive going into mythic phase 3.

3. Odyn 55%->10%
If your damage is high enough/you're on a low difficulty, it's possible to just burst through this phase.

Hymdall and Hyrja stop jumping in \o/
Odyn's Stormforged Spear does more damage the closer you are to him.
The obviously bad parts of the floor are bad.
The damage of Arcing Storm will increase.

This is essentially a burst phase. Go ham! Keep an eye out for Stormforged spear, because that can really do some hefty damage, but shouldn't be unmanageable.
As long as you don't bring Heimdall and Hyrja into this phase you should be fine.

Surprisingly easy to solo on mythic at level 60 for an unholy DK in very low item level gear (I had mostly questing stuff and the very first covenant story pieces). Before the pull, make sure your pet is on passive, and have a /petattack macro (or click the UI for the "Attack" skill, but keybinding a macro or that skill will make this a lot easier).

Make your pet attack one boss, while you Outbreak the other one and pull it to the other side of the arena. Your pet will easily hold aggo, so all you need to do is carefully match the amount of damage it is doing. Even better if you use the All Will Serve talent, the extra pet on the other boss will make phase one end quite quickly. When all of the smaller adds spawned, I only killed four of them on the correct runes (just drag all of them over a rune and kill the one which is taking regular damage, rinse and repeat), whichever ones were far away from where the pets were tanking the other boss and Odyn's big skill did literally nothing. The other mechanics the bosses have do barely any damage.

When they are both down, do slow DPS to Odyn. As soon as one of the bosses from the previous phase drops in, have your pet attack it with your macro/keybind and pull Odyn far away. The pet(s) will pretty quickly take down enough health so the boss jumps away again. After that, burst Odyn down to push the final phase where the room seperates into sections. It's just a clean nuke and kill after that.

If Hyrja or Hymdall resurrect while within range of the other, the shield will not activate, allowing full damage to both.

Overview – Odyn challenges players to honorable combat. When a player would die, they are instead removed from the fight by Odyn's val'kyr. Upon being reduced to 80% of his life, Odyn is convince of players' worth and ends the fight.
- Damage Dealers –
  When affected by [Runic Brand] look at the floor and run to the matching rune.
  Avoid [Spear of Light] and [Glowing Fragments].
  Run away from Odyn to avoid [Radiant Tempest].
- Healers –
  When affected by [Runic Brand] look at the floor and run to the matching rune.
  Avoid [Spear of Light] and [Glowing Fragments].
  Run away from Odyn to avoid [Radiant Tempest].
- Tanks –
  When affected by [Runic Brand] look at the floor and run to the matching rune.
  Avoid [Spear of Light] and [Glowing Fragments].
  Run away from Odyn to avoid [Radiant Tempest].
Unworthy – Upon being reduced to 1 health Odyn removes the player from battle until he is defeated or all players are proven Unworthy of Odyn's respect.
Runic Brand – Odyn creates a brand on each player that lasts for 12 sec. The brand inflicts 7 Holy damage every 1 sec. Entering the corresponding rune on the ground cleanses the effect and applies Branded.
- Branded – Upon cleansing a rune Odyn blesses the player increasing damage and healing done by 50% and increasing movement speed by 25%. In addition, the player is restored to full health.
Spear of Light – Odyn creates a spear of light at a player's location, inflicting 55 Holy damage to all players within 8 yards and 8 Holy damage to all other players.
In addition, each spear inflicts 15 Holy damage every 2 sec to all nearby players.
In this difficulty, when each Spear of Light is summoned it expels 3 Glowing Fragments.
- Glowing Fragment – Touching a fragment causes it to erupt stunning the target for 3 sec and inflicting 237570 Holy damage.
Shatter Spears – Odyn causes all Spears of Light to burst into 5 Glowing Fragments.
- Glowing Fragment – Touching a fragment causes it to erupt stunning the target for 3 sec and inflicting 237570 Holy damage.
Radiant Tempest – Odyn emits a pulse of energy inflicting 1957398 Holy damage and knocks back all players within 30 yards.
Summon Stormforged Obliterator – Odyn summons forth a Stormforged Obliterator to assist him.
- Stormforged Obliterator
  - Surge – The caster erupts in a torrent of electrical energy, inflicting 118785 Nature damage to all enemies.
    In addition, each successful cast reduces the cast time of the next Surge by 100%. This effect stacks.
