Wow, fomo-based disguised time-gating. Insane.
Is this going to be scaled to the neighborhood size when it comes to tasks required, or as out of touch as guild achievements where spam inviting hundreds of strangers is mandatory to complete some?
Why does blizzard hate its own playerbase now? They can't give us something good without putting a lot of restrictions on it.
I guess I'm in the minority, but I like how the sounds and having goals to work towards to unlock new things for housing.
Housing rep is as much of a mistake as not having infinite furniture when you unlock it - womp womp gold sink, it won't impact anyone that already has plenty of gold.
So stoked to have another system to ignore alongside Pet Battles, thank you Blizzard.
How dare blizzard make my 15 bucks go to good use! Let me complain about my issues on the wow head forums!
With this all you can do is to hope that you get into a neighborhood with "housing only" players - like the ones that only play pet battles for whatever godforsaken reason.
Players watching videos on Beta/PTR thinking wow, this gonna be great. Lets make list of all the cool stuff that I can get from DAY ONE and build my dream house! 🥰Blizz: Ha Ha! Hold my time gating beer including housing spaces and lots of items locked behind various things and activities. Oh, and did we mention bnet shop with a new premium ingame currency that's just another fancy word for paying with real money? 😈 🤑
Yeah, don't like how dyes work. Wish it was different. If I want a blue chair I have to go get blue dye. Then if I want something else blue to match I need more blue dye. So if I want to color at lot of stuff (and some items have multiple dye slots) I need a lot of dye. And if I want to color something other than blue I need those colors of dye as well ... and there are 60 different dyes. So like... either I need to make a shopping list of stuff I need to go get after decorating a room > come back > then continue with coloring stuff or I have to have multiple bank slots taken up by stacks of different dyes to avoid having to stop mid decoration? rofl. There has to be a better way. I don't want the dyes taking up tons of bank slots but I also don't want to have to go get a shopping lists of stuff every time In add new decor or rearrange existing stuff. I get why dyes are consumable but.... yeah. Don't like how it works atm. Initiatives are interesting. I still need researcher's under fire related achievements. I just didn't engage enough while it was current. The like collect 50/100 rocks/alters ect. ones are all partially complete. I've found the odd group pop up here and there to attempt these achieves but it's really rare and the achieves aren't really solo able otherwise because of how the event functions. You run out of time before you get to the stage of the event you can even work on some achieves. DF Community feast achieves are in the same boat too I think. I'd like to think Blizzard is trying to use tasks to direct groups of old players to participate in old content. Maybe knock out some old achieves/collect some old rewards with your neighborhood. Create a period of concentrated interest. I wonder if it could be taken a step furthur in that there could be tasks that are like "Do X while >80% of your group is from your neighborhood" similar to some guild achieves.
Looks really fun
Does it still scale with active persons? Like if I only have 3-5 people in my guild neighborhood?
Yet another example of Blizzard's horrible playtime-metric-milking time-gate philosophy tainting what would otherwise be a fun system for creative self-expression.House size, room shapes, and floor plans are timegated so we can't start planning properly. What's the point in furnishing a garden if my actual house shape will unlock after 8 weeks of grinding so I have to redo the whole outside space? Can't start decorating at all if the entryway room I'd like is timegated, because you can't move or change that room after you start. Way to hamstring a system before it even gets going.Timegating the decorations would be plenty of timegating and progression alone, considering we have to get every single furnishing individually - having to farm up 30 lumber each for every single crafted lamp, or having to acquire 1500 garrison resources / order hall resources / war supplies / for EACH candelabra when most people would use them in multiples to light a single room is plenty of timegating in itself ALREADY. We didn't need more timegating. For people who like the idea of everyone being forced to do chores just to 'have something to work towards', you could look into trying to set goals for yourself and get internal motivation as opposed to external motivation - it's a great skill that enhances your agency and enjoyment in all areas of life. And regarding the 'if they make everyone do old content nobody wants to run anymore, I'll be able to do old achievements' angle, people who are only there to complete their 16th chore will want to get it done quickly and with minimal effort. And, more importantly, the Trader's Tender system already exists so the Traveler's Log would be a better place to rotate activities if the goal is increased player engagement. Endeavours just DOUBLE the list of arbitrary chores that people have to do, so now we'll have two sets of timegated rewards and limited currency to grind each month. And if you have two houses you have to do them twice because they're house based not account-wide.
The more I see on Housing the more I'm glad in my option to never use it
I like the community goals. However when you have your favorite spot in 1 neighbourhood and the rest of the players are not contributing, the fun is sucked out of these goals.Small group of friends can't have their own neighbourhood; the 10 active players requirement.Guess big streamer guilds are the focus of the dev team.I do believe you can buy unlocked items in a neighbourhood you are not part of. So fomo is a not a valid argument.
