With the release of Diablo 4 Season 8 on April 29, Rogues will need to reevaluate their build decisions once again. Based on the final Season 8 patch notes, one of the most dominating skills in the Rogue toolkit,
Death Trap
, will be drastically changed - but there's one particular bug fix that sparks hope!
This article only covers changes made since the conclusion of the Season 8 PTR. To get a complete picture of what's coming for Rogues in Season 8, feel free to check out the
Season 8 PTR Rogue Changes
as well.
Rogue Skill Changes in Season 8
As the most popular Ultimate option,
Death Trap
gets nerfed from all angles, including its cooldown, its cooldown reduction from killing or overpowering, and 's damage multiplier.
Blizzard
Now always a Cutthroat Skill, rather than only with its Rank 5 Bonus.
Base cooldown increased from 50 seconds to 60 seconds.
Cooldown reduction from kill or Overpower reduced from 10 seconds to 5 seconds.
Bonus Trap damage reduced from 50% to 20%.
Puncture
and 's descriptions have been updated to reference "every 3rd Puncture," rather than "every 3rd Cast".
Developer's Note:
These bonuses are intended to work even when copied by .
Rogue Items and Tempering Changes in Season 8
As it appears, the changes made to
Scoundrel's Leathers
should solve multiple issues: First, Grenade builds shouldn't be forced to use a Unique item that was designed to synergize with Trap builds. Additionally, the ability to "teleport" to your
Scoundrel's Leathers
has been cut from the item's Unique Power, warranting a massive movement nerf for all Rogue builds using this ultimate in their setup.
Apart from that, the Tempering change behind
Trap Expertise
just makes sense, aligning the recipe with those of other classes in the Utility category.
Blizzard
Inherent Affix no longer applies the Core Skill tag to Grenade Skills.
Unique Power
Previous: Your Trap Skills can be thrown and will spawn a every 10 seconds when Cast. You step through the shadows to your
Death Trap
when Cast, gaining 10-30% increased damage for 5 seconds.
Now: Your Trap Skills can be thrown and will spawn a
Death Trap
every 10 seconds when Cast, granting you 10-30% increased damage for 5 seconds.
Trap Expertise
Temper Manual
Moved from the Offensive to the Utility category.
Rogue Bug Fixes and UI Changes in Season 8
Thanks to this section, it's not all doom and gloom for
Death Trap
: The bug fix to
Death Trap
and its interaction with
Scoundrel's Leathers
and
Scoundrel's Leathers
, two items that are used in our Death Trap Rogue Endgame Build Guide, could alleviate the nerfs made in the Skills section.
Other than that, a massive amount of
Shadow Clone
bug fixes, one of the seemingly more complicated skills in Diablo 4 which has received major development support over the last few seasons, made it into Patch 2.2!
