It should be pure cosmetics only, with no player power, no minor player convenience, "I don't like it I don't have to interact with it" feature, not time-gated, and no rental fee or any sort of gold sink transactions (eg: buy land, buy house - everybody can own a home after completing a simple quest) (besides the decoration that players can craft and buy/sell in the AH).No convenience - the problem with convenience: 1. Ghost city, 2. Players (PVPers, Raiders, M+ers) must interact with it because it's convenient obviously. No portals, no crafting order tables, no access to trade chat, and limited entry (4-5) to house instances (no guild hall)No house rating/vote - the potential of getting abused.1 house per account with rooms, else a "copy" house feature (I don't want to redecorate my home for all my other 100 chars)Yes to these points:Achievements, progression for cosmetics, Xmog, crafting table (w/o work order), mount cust., mount stable, pet stable, minion stable, basic NPC sell/buy, garden (w/o herbing).I'm glad I'm just a player requesting these and not a dev.if you have a better take on "player convenience", list them and we'll judge them.
I'd love to see a crafting table in my Home Sweet Home :)
i hope we got different Furniture for all the races and not just "all Horde folk geht Orgrimmar style houses" and "all Alliance folk get Stormwind style houses" that would just be Garrisons again :(
Honestly, I'd be happiest if they allowed us to have houses in all of the cities, and also improve all cities with that. Eg. put the trading post in Bel'ameth, barbershops, auction houses, banks, profession trainers/tables, PvP vendors, literally everything else... globalize those services in ALL cities. Orgrimmar as the main capital of the Horde, Stormwind as the main capital of the Alliance are disgusting options, players shouldn't be forced to visit those 2 places to change their hairstyles or buy from Trading Post, etc.WHY DON'T BLOOD ELVES HAVE A BARBERSHOP IN SILVERMOON, FOR INSTANCE? THAT'S INSANE! With all the conveniences put in each and every one of the cities, player housing could be entirely cosmetic, no utility required, just a place to decorate and enjoy your time with friends.I have a more important question: WHAT ABOUT GUILD HOUSING?I hope they allow guilds to have proper headquarters like in FFXIV because as a roleplayer, it is so frustrating that we can't even use freaking dungeons/instances (like Magister's Terrace) as "guild hub". You can't enter a dungeon with 15 people. I hope they don't cap guest numbers like that. I hate that we can't roleplay in any other instances than raids (again, player limit) and I'll be pissed if I can't host a sleepover event with my RP buddies.Seriously, Wowhead authors, why won't you ever write / speak about RP community's needs? :(
The Link to "Learning from the Past: Where Garrisons Went Wrong" at the bottom of the article seems to be broken?
I just hope there is no FOMO or a limited time you can get certain things for your house... but I know this wish won't be granted :(
I would die to see guild housing. And in there - fortresses and ships, please. And for personal housing, I think the option to design your house via modular parts would be amazing. Imagine you could combine your home with a forge and anvil or the front of a small store or something. I'd love to see that.
when I think of ESO housing I am sure there will be House/decoration bundles in the Shop. It's a nobrainer.
I think homogeneity is a big risk. Remember with the warband login screen there was a lot of speculation about multiple settings, posing characters, etc, none of which actually materialized.
WoW Engine WoW code WoW DevsStop thinking it's going to be anything like other games, they are going to do as much different as possible and it's going to be WoW style architecture, my guess is the usual racial stuff, Undeads get Brill, Humans get Goldshire etcPlease let this bugged out mess be completely optional.
Never cared about player housing 20 years and I'm sure will be fine next 20 years. We had garrisons and saw how that failed utterly.
1.) I don't have a particular opinion one way or the other about this. I hope we can visit each other's homes, but how exactly that's achieved, I haven't thought about.2.) I really hope lots of different zones will be considered for player housing! And not just the more recent zones. Ashenvale, Silverpine, Redridge, Barrens... Give us some awesome classic zones, as well as zones from other expansions. I'm picturing small instanced areas that are secluded from the rest of the zone, but obviously carry whatever the theme of the zone might be.3.) Please don't railroad players into decor that is super racial or faction specific. My orc hunter should be allowed to decorate her home with generic items (a warm couch, fine wooden furniture, hell give me a coffee maker like the one in dalaran!). If her only option is horde symbols, spikes, blood and honor, guns all over the wall, and taxidermized animals, I am going to be very disappointed. Most players can't be reduced to <insert race> and <insert faction> as their one and only personality type. I felt that garrisons offered too little in terms of customization. Even though you could select guards, why did the guards have to be faction themed? Why can't I just have random mercenaries guarding my base, why must they be of a specific faction and flying their banners everywhere? Let player housing be about us as the players - not just about the NPCs and their silly factions. Give us the choice to show off whatever we want!4.) I'd understand it if we only got one because I can see how having many would cause server issues. At the same time, garrisons had lag back in the day and they went through with that anyhow. I'm not sure if it would be better or worse these days. Either way, I'd definitely prefer to have a different home for each of my characters! I don't like the idea of making a home that fits *all* of my characters combined.5.) This might be a controversial take. People hated that garrisons had it all, and no one ever left their garrisons. This made WoD feel like a dead expansion. One thing that's different between WoD and TWW is that there are things to do out in the world. WoD had relatively little in terms of world content until the Tanaan Jungle update. TWW's content gives us ample reasons to leave our player homes and venture out into the world, which is great!Still, I think some things should only be available in the city. So like, yeah give us trade chat while in our homes. Crafting orders, though? I think that might be a bit much. It's important that you see people out in the world in WoW. It's an MMO, that's kinda the point. When players log on and see empty streets, they perceive the game as dead and are less likely to stick around for the long term.
i would prefer Guild Halls. kind of should revitalize guild incentives. heck have guild halls with discounts to actual things people need in game. have more guild specific transmogs. have guild board of quests/achievments to try to accomplish from small to large. have guild member of the week completions in the guild. having guild halls would be less realestate space wise in game to render and guild halls can be visible to all in game and not instanced. going inside a guild hall could be instanced. then hopefully with this, can get old cities vitalized with guild halls there.
It should be raw and empty space to place anything and everything like lamp, boxes, chandelier, paint on the wall. Everything, even fire place. We should be able to change walls, floors, windows (if exists). If not, if it will be just placing some throphies on the wall, some chairs, bed, and table it will be drama, and you don't want it right now Blizzard. There shouldn't be any limitation to faction, place or whatever. Let us be creative and just have FUN. It can't be a hub with AH, bank, transmog or whatever because it will piss of the community that cities will be empty once again after WoD with garrisons. Also it is a great opportunity even to make an new profession with crafting interior stuff like in other games.
This might not happen, but I still think it would be awesome to not only have your gear/trophies/statues/toys up for display, but also have my alts wandering around the house as well. If there were multiple locations I could collect, then maybe I could choose which alt idles in which house while I play a different character. On top of that, the option to have my pets and companions wander around the plot would be great, too. If there is a special "stable" where I could select which pets and companions are wandering at a certain time, that would be awesome. I'd love to be able to allow friends and guildies to visit, too.I wonder if color schemes will be a choice, like accents or feature walls being open to multiple color choices. It might be a bit much, but if Blizz pulls this kind of stuff off, it would be epic. The portal room might open up to the other properties I own on different continents, rather than city centers...For the gardens, I could see something where they allow herbs from previous expansions, so maybe peacebloom, dreamleaf, starmoss, stormvine or green tea leaves, etc, where they could then allow the recently ended expansion as soon as the new one launches. So TWW plants would be grown in the gardens during Midnight, and then Midnight plants could be grown during TLT, and so on.Yeah, like everyone else, I've done some serious thinking about what I would like in my player house. And like others have already said, we've all had a very long time to think about these things; now it's just up to whether Blizz can live up to these sorts of expectations. There's a lot of room for disappointment, unfortunately.
Meanwhile, Crafting has been passed over almost entirely.Artisians Acruity is still too slow to aquire.Filling Crafting Orders from other players should be AT LEAST one Artisian Acruity rewarded.Weekly Crafting quests only give 3, should be 5.There are NO clear paths to maximize Specialization for benefits. It's like the Goose Honk Meme, "Why are there no YouTube videos showing how to maximize Specializations?"Players have been regularly asking for R5 615 Gear week in and week out and there doesn't seem to be anyone to fill those orders.
I hope they look at the FFXIV ward system as an example of what NOT to do. At least, if they can't make it infinitely scalable. Fighting for housing in real life is enough, don't want to do that in a game as well.
