MAKE THE HORDE GREAT AGAIN
Dang, this story was terrible and did we really need to shove faction conflict back into the story? Can we just let that corpse rot already? Also wasnt she the same loser who teamed up with Sylvanas until it became inconvenient for her to do so.
HUMANS WERE HERE FIRST
This is so *!@#ing lame.
Low and behold... Randomly... Thrall's had a sister from an alternate timeline that nobodies known about for the past 12 years... What even is that? Random conflict within random conflict? Also, why even bother writing in this conflict to begin with? Why would this random human girl be like "But mah ancestors" when she's not even, remotely, an Arathi?Lets not even mention how this so called random lady openly killed a messenger, and then bragged about it and attempting to kill Thrall openly. And Jaina is just like "Okay.. whatever. Lets just talk this out." Instead of blasting the traitorous lady in the face, or teleporting them both directly to stormwinds kings chamber.. And then "Oh yeah, Ima just stand here, and watch you do this gruesome thing of skinning a wolf."
I didn't find it as terrible as others claim because the faction conflict is still part of the franchise! The interesting thing is that this time it wasn't an evil orc who wanted to do evil things, but a human. WOW Blizzard can also tell something different than always the same thing. The fact that Geya'rah ends up being the one who wants to end the conflict was unexpected, but still interesting, as I also see parallels with Garrosh, even though she is a Frost Wolf. I think it's great that Geya'rah shows insight and can do better than Garrosh until Blizzard decides against it again.Let's see how far it develops and what comes out of it, perhaps the vision of Garrosh, but one that leads to the hero instead of the villain. What I didn't find great and strange was why the Mag'hars were in the area where the Arathi are. Then it's even stranger where the Kor'krons came from, even if they no longer exist after Garrosh and are now suddenly back. This should have been a quest line to bring back the then Elite Guard and what they learned from the time of Garrosh. What I'm missing is Thrall taking on the role of mentor and protecting Geya'rah from going down Garrosh's path again.Thrall should learn from his mistakes instead of always running off like a baby and telling her the story! The fact that the stories of the Horde and the Alliance are combined in one book is a shame and is not part of the game...I also wonder where this Maran comes from, although it's also nice that there are problems in the alliance instead of everything always being perfect.
New randomly initiated faction conflict with a bunch of nobodies, one of which is Thrall's sister.Lol.How much more creatively bankrupt can they get?
I don’t inherently have a problem with keeping some parts of the faction conflict alive (in fact, I feel like there should still be faction specific stories even if they are at peace) I’m not a fan of this story. First, why would the alliance allow the Mag’har to settle in Arathi if they won the warfront, even if they are at peace now? In fact, why would the horde even want them to settle there? It’s far away from all the other Horde settlements, except for maybe Lordaeron which is still rebuilding. Wouldn’t someplace like Mulgore make more sense? This sort of reeks of the Exploring Azeroth series where they go to great lengths to maintain the in-game status quo of the zones even though one would expect significant developments during the intervening years since we’ve seen them.Second, if the 7th Legion is an alliance force, why couldn’t Danath or Turalyon, through Jaina if necessary, just order the forces moved without needing Marran’s permission? Or gone that route at the first sign of resistance? Danath seemed to expect things wouldn’t go smoothly which just makes him seem irresponsible to let it go on like it did. Like, just write a letter if you were so bent on not going yourself. And Jaina being outmanoeuvred by Marran when she’s a seasoned leader and diplomat, and needing to send and wait for couriers seems so backwards.I also hadn’t realised that Geya’rah being Thrall’s “sister” was a big secret.Like I said, I don’t mind there still being conflicts. But they can’t be just shoehorned in because when it’s done too clumsily it makes even less sense than everyone making nice with each other.
If they want to build up her character then do it in the game. If a character isn't worth the effort to create stories for in the actual game, then they aren't characters worth paying attention to.And since she is a big nothing of a character as far as the game goes so far, who haven't done anything big or had any real impactful scenes, maybe save her character building for the actual game where people will pay attention to it.You can't lay all the groundwork for a character in an out-of-game story most players won't bother with, and then expect people to be excited when they show up back in the game with character development we never saw. It's Calia all over again. So much of her story was told in some book few people read. Build up your characters in the GAME Blizzard. If you want people to like Geya'rah, then give her the ingame time she deserves. I bet most Alliance-only players don't even know who she is.
Faction conflic here we go, lets get back to the real Roots of Warcraft! ( Love this ) - Chris Metzen is back baby ^^The Faction Conflict in it self is not bad its the way blizzard have done it, so lets go for it and make it make sence and bring out the War in this game.... real War.... with Death, Genocide and hate.... what is the point of a fantasy fictional world if we cant have things like that in it........ since Shadowlands they turned all Rainbows and Ponys..... and it put off alot of people.Just know this Blizzard I love this and for God sake, put your timeline in order, since all of these characters for different timeslines will make new people so dissy when they try to get into the Lore.Keep this up Blizzard ^^PS: the very essence of Warcraft was "WARHAMMER" so I am not advocatoin to copy pasting that Lore, but lets get back to the darkness and lets make this game For Men.... since lets be real 95% of people in the game are that.
Love the comments complaining over the faction conflict brought up again, calling it bland, boring, and repetitive. All the while turning a blind eye the same "save the world" story we've been told since the beginning. This fandom is just full of hypocrites.1. It's here to stay. It's only going to go away in the FINAL xpac, whatever that might be. Not to mention there's too much stuff left unresolved.2. I want to see more of this Marran, and others like her. She may be Garrosh in Human's clothing, but she is what the Alliance has been missing since MoP, an antagonistic side in the Alliance.
man. blizzards writing is AWFUL.ill admit that ive been pretty wow pilled for the past idk, 15-20 years and ive just now gotten back into warhammer and man..the writing in codexes and rule books etc is so much better. they dont even have to make sense or tell a proper story. just name an orc skullsmasher and tell us he came from some corrupted pond of goo or something.but this writing in wow is so.. idk.. gen z? its just like.. the floppiest, weakest, diplomatic junk ever written, (and not even in the kinda cool bickering human kingdoms way).i wish blizz would hire a new story team cause this united under one azeroth flag stuff is just really weak and not attractive in anyway.
Got a lotta milk-drinking babies in the comments. Weird how the people who want better are the ones literally waiting by the second to comment. Why not go do something else if you're so unhappy? It's weird.
What makes this short story stupid isnt the faction conflict, not the 180 on geyrah (because lets not act like she stood by sylvanas even after her defeat), not the unnecessary nature of a random fight in a short story about both sides working together to go to the isle of dorn (which was spoiled by the campaign), danath somehow not realizing his niece called in the 7th legion, the maghar orcs just deciding theyd like to cross the planet to live in arathi, and not even that the horde moved into Arathi with more people than the actual people already there who just came back home after over 20 years and dont seem to understand the problem. What makes it stupid is Marran being the villian of the story, because somehow every point she raised (the allaince arent helping them, they dumped the orcs on them twice now, the horde are entroaching on them, the fact the arathi FINALLY got their kingdom back in full since the 2nd war) means nothing, and she was wrong to want the horde out. Eitrigg stood there and death stared turalyon , like he hadnt tried to slaughter the arathi twice now and didnt participate in the warfront, but i gotta be angry at marran for wanting the orcs (the major source of her kingdom's problems in recent history) out of the kingdom theyd tried to destroy 3 times now, and because the maghar orcs seemed to not like their accomodation in durotar.Im sorry, im not going to disagree with a woman who wanted her home to be safe, wanting the race who had tried to destroy it multiple times out and disagreeing with the situation. Geyrah was fine murdering the draenei on AU draenor (i did their intro, i know about the lightbound, and even their recruitment questline shows they never changed from WoD), and everyone on azeroth post arrival, but somehow a kid with a knife telling her to leave them in peace somehow convinced her, after she ahd no problem moving in and not understanding the problem?
I suppose that if you don't like the current state of the "faction conflicts", there's a version of the game which may suit your preferred narrative - any of the "Classic Era" titles. In "modern" WoW, there's nothing wrong with Alliance/Horde grouping up and doing things together.
