Posted 2018/11/21 at 12:43 PM by Anshlun

We're going to make some changes to Uldir that will go live with scheduled weekly maintenance next week. Here's what we're currently working on:

Mythrax

Visions of Madness no longer strictly prefer to target ranged players with Mind Flay.
N'raqi Destroyer health reduced by 10%.

Fetid Devourer

Shockwave Stomp damage reduced by 20% on Mythic difficulty.
Putrid Paroxysm damage reduced by 20% on Mythic difficulty.
Mutated Mass and Corruption Corpuscle health reduced by 10% on Mythic difficulty.

G'huun

Gibbering Horrors health reduced by 10% on Mythic Difficulty.
The number of Bursting Boils per cast reduced by 1 on Mythic Difficulty.

yikes this is going to make things much easier

- Guild's attempting G'huun for the first time tonight, this is awesome to hear about Boils being nerfed to 2.
- Mythrax nerfs are pretty minor. Nothing huge there.
- WOW, Fetid might as well just give you the loot now. That's pretty busted. Putrid's way weaker and the adds having 10% less HP is a massive boon to lower DPS groups.

This reminds me to maybe actually do the raid.

About time for the usual last minute cutting edge sale.

According to front page only slightly above 500 guilds killed it so far, these numbers are far lower than previous raids, no one should be surprised tbh, every raid was nerfed late in the tier one way or another. By now people have already maxed reorigination arrays so that won't be any more help. Even Kil'jaeden reached around 800 cutting edge kills post nerfs, hope G'huun can beat it because KJ was a big guild killer.

G'huun is one of the worst fights ever for the colloquial phrase "bring the player, not the class." As a whole Uldir was one of the worst raids designed around this supposed design philosophy. This nerf and the ones recently have done some good to alleviate this, but it is too little too late. Guilds have had to have players reroll certain classes completely and regear over the course of the first part of this expansion. The changes need to come way sooner. At this point it is a slap to the face of the player base.

Good.

maybe more alliance guilds will clear mythic now?

Small typo. The description says it's the "last 3 bosses of Uldir", but that'd be Zul, Mythrax and G'huun, not Fetid Devourer and the other 2.

Comment by ZorkKnight

Maybe you missed the memo, but they said they wanna do "bring the class, not the player" again in BfA

Comment by Ominous

They've been intentionally dialing back on this philosophy since the introduction of the fixed Mythic size, with the idea that groups attempting this difficulty take it seriously and will be more mindful of what they bring. Some fights require specific classes/specs (e.g. Blast Furnace), and they reintroduced class buffs/debuffs. The intent was that they were going too far in the homogenization direction, so they had to course correct.

I personally feel that bringing back class buffs/debuffs and the use of specific specs for clearing mechanics is dumb, regardless of the difficulty, but that's clearly not their opinion. It's just not that much of a surprise.

The only reason I run heroic is practice and its a lil bit fin. However, when I don't have a DH+Mage buffing me in raid, I don't bother even trying. Sure I can use a scroll, but its not the same, and its hard to gauge if I actually am playing better without those.

I actually decided not to mythic raid this tier because I just don't like Mythic Uldir. The last 3 bosses are just bad.

Comment by wslucanm

Yes, but maybe you have to consider that ,the reason behind this, is that 20 man is not working for ppl to form and maintain mythic raiding, and also the fact that maybe BFA is not that appealling/rewarding for ppl to keep playing it. The point being, its not only a matter of raid dificulty.

Comment by sinangelus

Tbh bringing a mage for Gul'dan was ok, bringing 4 warlocks for G'huun is overboard, why 1 class out of 12 should have reserved 20% of raidspots for them? And it's not like warlock was bad whole raid and had it's moment on G'huun, it was great for nearly every single encounter due to their single target burst. Same with the idea you have only 4-5 melee spots on 3 most important bosses in the instance while the game has 9 melee classes.

- WOW, Fetid might as well just give you the loot now. That's pretty busted. Putrid's way weaker and the adds having 10% less HP is a massive boon to lower DPS groups.

Fetid is halfway through the raid that's been out for 2,5 months, I'm pretty sure bosses like Mistress were nerfed around that timeframe of the raid being out so more casual guilds can actually stop being stuck on the same boss. What bothers me more some classes can get easy weapon from Taloc or Mother, while 1h str weapon doesn't drop until Fetid, which is still much more demanding than 2 bosses that even pugs kill...

maybe more alliance guilds will clear mythic now?

And what about more horde guilds...? xD

maybe more alliance guilds will clear mythic now?

And horde guilds too, everyone does with nerfs.

Comment by Thesinfault

Its rather awkward that people compare this raid (the first raid of this expansion) with Tomb of Sargeras that was the fourth raid in Legion.

If you want to compare the difficulty then i guess thats acceptable , just dont forget that Emerald Nightmare was literally a walk in the park compared to Uldir.

Some percentages of what i found in W.o.wargraphs:

Cutting Edge: Xavius 6% of the Raid active population
Cutting Edge: Argus the Unmaker 3% of the Raid active population
Cutting Edge: Kil'jaeden 1.3% of the Raid active population
Cutting Edge: G'huun 0.7% of the Raid active population (thus far 22-11-2018)!

Kind of off topic but I am just wondering if they made any further changes to Azerite Cache reward from Emissaries? My mage is at i363 and emissary azerite reward is showing 370 for him.

Few days back my druid didn't get 370 cache until he was at 367. I remember even at 366 it was still 355 azerite for him and I tried hard to get him an extra ilvl before turning in emissary.

Comment by Peredhil

we can read this in many ways ... is it for beeing "harder to get" or is it because ppl nowadays care less about the curve

i speak for me ... i have so many things to do, and my guild has so few ppl to raid that i just dont care about the curve.

curve =/= edge. Ppl interested in cutting edge goes as far as server/faction change to be able to aim at it.
